lonelydora: My doctor friend, 2 million is not a big deal for a car because it will get you a normal everyday car. How much do you think pre-owned 2008 Camry or Accord cost?
Forget about Nigerian used car because there's a reason a naija man wants to sell his car which he may not tell you, not to mention the blunder Kazeem had committed on the car.
I don't know if you think 2million will get you a Range Rover or a Mercedes G-wagon. Lol @Gwagon & Kazeem... but even if 2m can get me an 08 camry/accord, I'll still avoid it cos those rides give robbers an ereection anytime they sight it. Will just make do with a low keyed 2 million ride dat isn't easily resellable by thieves & save myself sleepness nights |

BenueBlog: As brief as the occasion was three PDP stalwarts led hundreds to defect into the APC. His in-laws decorated him and his wife in Tiv traditional attire and also pledged their support towards the realization of his aspiration.
In Naka, headquarters of Gwer-West PDP chieftains including several former council chairmen and aides to Governor Gabriel Suswam dumped their former party for the APC.
The former chairmen were Abaji, Godfrey Ichoghol, and Andrew Ayande while the aides were Francis Nyibiam, a former Adviser to Governor Moses Adasu now current Senior Special Assistant to Governor Gabriel Suswam and his colleague, Anta Igbaato, alias Galadima.
The victory of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the Presidential and National Assembly Elections has sparked a new wave of cross carpeting from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, into the majority party in Benue State beginning with thousands in Aondona and Naka towns in Gwer West local government area.
It all started when the governorship candidate of the party, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, and his entourage which included his campaign Director General, Professor Steve Ugbah, had a stopover in Aondona, where his wife, Chief Mrs Eunice Erdoo Ortom hails from.
Speaking at the two places Chief Dr Ortom expressed happiness that the chieftains had responded to the spirit of change sweeping across the country by jumping into the train as it made its last phase of the journey and enjoined those still outside to also move in.
He pledged those that his if voted into office, his administration would provide critical infrastructure including good roads, portable water, electricity, and health care even as he would implement the free and compulsory primary and secondary education enshrined in the APC manifesto. Chief Dr Ortom also pledged to pay arrears of salaries and pensions and also tackle unemployment.
He maintained that he considered Gwer-West as his home since his wife hailed from the area and was counting on the support of the people of the place to make it to Makurdi Government House.
Leaders of the defectors who spoke said the PDP had outlived its usefulness hence the need for an alternative platform to address the yearnings and aspirations of the people.

billy187: 2 million should be sufficient enough to get you a great pre used car, thats if import duties in Naija have not blown up yet. Keeping such a car should also fall within your paycheck; but then that depends on para meters such as the brand you are interested in.
I'm glad you are not penny wise, pound foolish though. Duties blowing up due to d dollar OR d proposed automotive policy implementation? |

billy187: I guess that will kinda depend on factors mostly determined by you. Do you need a car? How often will you use it? Is accommodation an issue for you? You may have to answer these questions to make an informed decision.
I would have advised you go for a certified preused car that could last you years over a cheap naija used car that may blow up the second you buy it- but then the issues of accomodation/land comes up.
In short, your parameters are not sufficient enough to make an informed decision. I will answer your questions one by one: 1. Yes I need a car badly. 2. I will be using it a lot, infact I need a V6 as I'll be doing interstate travelling. 3. Accommodation is not an issue. 4. I'm not in a hurry to buy a land as I do my things slow & steady with long lasting quality instead of cheap-cheap things that I'll av to manage-manage, hence I'll like to get a CPO (certified pre owned). So what do you say with dse answers? |

nurey: when buying things in nigeria, people should seriously take into consideration "will i make use of this" instead of "how much i will sell it after using it". i have never once in my life bought something and be considering the resale value. there are some luxurious gadgets that come as premium and i find really useless in nigeria
1. my family friend has a primera 2003 and it comes with reverse cam, i dont think you should use that cam at all except you want to commit suicide or ram into something.
2. leather seat will get torn on the long run if you take care of fibre it will last and last and last. though i appreciate leather for aesthetics 3. Navigation screen that the map wont work in naija only if it can show me car data then i will say that is good 4. xenon and HID lamp this are good for dazzling on coming drivers if i am the one driving the car good but if nah otondo, he is likely to blind me.
japanese cars weren't as sturdy as german cars then but not now. lexus LS will stand side by side with an S-class to a degree anyday anytime, so why do the germans out class the japs the answer is MORE (more leather, more formica, more airbags, more camera, more interior space etc)
german fanboiz give your own counter arguement. Compare phones with automobiles & ds is what you'll get: 1. Tecno- Kia (just beauty & flashy-flashy) 2. Samsung- Honda (flashy but a bit more durable) 3. LG, HTC- Toyota, Peugot (not too flashy but durable & long lasting) 4. Iphone- Mercedes-Benz, Porsche etc (flashy, durable, exotic & last forever). |

papawemba: ou are right. When I compare mileage of cars at at US auctions to what i see on cars sold in Nigeria you wonder where Nigerian car dealers buy their own automobiles. The difference is always miles apart which is butresses the point that they adjust the odometer.quote author=themodernman post=32374476]
What I'm concerned about is dat most dealers reverse odometer readings once it enters naija so one shouldn't just fall for dse milage. You can have any mileage you
want even if its zero. Check mileage of foreign rides on online aunction & you'll see dat most 04 vehicles dont even have such a low mileage..dats d true mileage
cos reversal of odometer is a crime there & they have means of checking d current VIN status of d ride. I wish you could rearrange your statement so dat people can understand wachu saying. Its pretty disjointed. |

nurey: My brother u didn't take into considerations some fact, yes that benz will certainly be the most luxurious and the tokunbo will be the cheapest in the market it won't pass 1.5m, the most exensive could be the 4th one posted by cityng cause it isn't just a classic it certainly would be a relic. The 06-07 dash could be a problem once it fails (once the screen no touch, ur Ac and some important stuffs won't work) the evil spirit has a very good and rugged build quality the only down size is the miniature screen.
As for the 4 place side by side after 3-4 years of use in naija the benz interior will still be in perfect shape but same can't be said for the exterior as some rust will start showing and if its completely neglected like my neighbors own, then the springs and shocks will give way, it will drive but it won't be impressive. 1.5million? Dats an 04 model benz Eclass bro..be ready to cough out 2.2m at least or take a hike |

CityNG: You can say vintage.
I say classic because that's the correct word. Vintage is usually reserved for wines. At least over here.
"A classic car is an older automobile; the exact definition varies around the world. The Classic Car Club of America maintains that a car must be between 30 and 49 years old to be a classic, while cars between 50 and 99 fall into a pre-antique class, and cars 100 years and older fall into the Antique Class." Nice one |

If u put pristine versions of all three ( or should I say four lol) next to each other, u will surely pick the Mercedes. It reeks of class and has unbreakable build quality. I can also assure u that the drive and handling can't be matched by any of the others. Most importantly after a couple years of usage, u will notice that the Mercedes Benz has aged better than the others. Good luck in making your choice. Cheers.
