All the schools have started pulling out and that is a very wrong way to end a strike. If ASUU announce they have called off the strike now, it means nothing, because by weekend, over half the schools will be running. But in the future, no one will take them serious and certainly, no president will ever take them serious. It isnt about GEJ, because GEJ will not be there for ever.

juju2008: The university system does not work that way. ASUU has never had any business with the money meant for infrastructural development into the universities. Their issue with govt. is that it has not been providing these things in the universities. ASUU's job is to teach while govt. should provide facilities for making the teaching experience beneficial to the students. If govt. claims that they have been providing money for infrastructures, then whosoever they disbursed the money to , probably a corrupt government contractor hasn't been doing a great job. That is why ASUU is asking that universities be autonomous so that they (ASUU) will also be part of the monitoring team to ensure that the money is used solely for infrastructural development.

You are contradicting yourself like ASUU. If the universities are autonomous, then they don't need FG's money anymore. They should generate their own funds

Maybe you do not understand how government works so I will educate you a little. The AGF is not the person to sign an agreement between government and ASUU. What makes it authentic, isnt just the rank of the person in government but the relevance. You cannot get the minister of education to sign an agreement on agriculture just because he is a high ranking officer. He has to also be in a relevant ministry. The only people that are relevant to ASUU are, the minister of Education or his representative, the secretary to the government and head of service, and the president himself. Even Okonjo Iweala is not qualified to sign that agreement.

Secondly, the president himself does not sign that kind of document, so the bulk will have to stop at most likely, the secretary to the government. That is if the minister of education or the head of NUC or one other relevant body does not sign it. ASUU knows this. ASUU is not an independent body. They are not like a political party of a civil society group. They are employees of government. They know the law. They cannot act above the law. They are not bigger than the law. I think GEJ is too magnanimous in all these and it has allowed ASUU and some other persons to cross lines that they shouldnt. Even in a trade dispute, you must follow due process and you must work within the law. Even if the FG is going to release money, the president does not just command the CBN to hand over money to ASUU. That is why I find it sad when I see stup1d comments by some, obviously tainted with political undertones, that the FG should just pay them. There is no free money from anywhere that government just pulls out and dole around. Even when we talk about corruption, it isnt like the corrupt politicians just go to Aso rock and collect bags of money. Most news items that insinuate that are just trash. Most corruption still comes through legitimate projects that are either over inflated or where the contractors cut corners and dont deliver. Then you have cases of government officials falsifying projects or staff records. In a sense and in the eyes of the law, most of those projects are justified until they are proven through investigations to be spurious.

It is important for us to be truthful as Nigerians. We are creating a bad precedence in this country where anyone can now blackmail government, play on anti government sentiments and rip us off, while we act as accomplices in their crimes against us. That is exactly what played out in the fuel subsidy saga. Most of you ended up fighting for the fuel importation cabals and they eventually won and are still ripping us off

Pukkah: The economy is not yet diversified. However, if this report is anything to rely on, absolute figures for non-oil exports have gone up. Oil remains the contributor of the lion share to foreign exchange earnings and this is not likely to change in the short run. We also don't know how much accrued to the government as revenue from the non-oil exports earnings.

There are many problems in the economy. There is massive and unprecedented oil theft which government appears unsure and unprepared to tackle aggressively. Oil revenue is falling and government is pussy footing on corruption and the word out there is that the Jonathan government is very soft on corruption. A lot of government spending disappears into corruption and waste which is why there's a disparity between the so-called economic growth and standard of living of the people.

Like you said, the CBN is pursuing very tight monetary policies and is yet to have a model that can reduce the high interest rates, inflation rate and strengthen the exchange rate. Sometimes I pity the CBN though because it can't control the goebrnment's fiscal policies. The infrastructure is still weak and the cost of doing business is still high.

If, in spite of these problems the non-oil exports sector was able to post these figures, I think it's commendable.

1. Inflation rate has dropped

3. Corruption in government has dropped.

The destitutes were to have been received by the state government who would in turn reunite them with their people.

ACN was in control of Lagos state in 2011 and GEJ won the presidential elections there, trashing Ribadu badly.

PDP was in control of Kano state in 2011 and GEJ lost there.

Is Fashola or Tinubu going to thumb print for us? You should be more concerned about retaining Lagos State governorship in 2015 as it is going to very difficult for APC. If you don't realise yet that APC is in trouble in Lagos, then Goodluck to you.
