Eriokanmi: olatuns2017:DEAR FRIENDS. Sorry to barge into your mentions, but I have to clarify something here. What, exactly, is a PROPHECY? The definition of PROPHECY is A PREDICTION OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE. Now, by this definition, it is obvious that anybody can prophesize. Anybody can say anything. It's like a coin toss: either head, side or tail will face upwards. People who are ordinary as hell throughout history have made guesses that eventually happened. Simple. However, when a prophecy is claimed by it's proponent to have been communicated by a deity, then that is a different thing entirely. ''A prophecy is a message that is claimed by a prophet to have been communicated to them by a deity. Such messages typically include inspiration, interpretation, or revelation of divine will concerning the prophet's social world and events to come.'' Now, before you say I do not believe in God, lemme just tell you that I do. But my opinion on God and God's interaction and involvement in human endeavours is very different from what most people think. I am not a religious person. Never was, never will be. I keep telling people that I am not religious, I am spiritual. Mind you, there is an enormous difference between the two. I respect God and I acknowledge His existence, but I do not fear Him. God in my opinion is a SUPERNATURAL BEING WHOSE INTELLECT IS SO OFF THE SCALE THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR WE MORTALS WITH FINITE MINDS TO EVEN COME CLOSE TO COMPREHEND. So you cannot tell me that the same God who coordinated the activities of some 1, 000 different Bible contributors of various and incredibly diverse backgrounds to write a Book that is very harmonious and consistent with one Intellect; who had prophets that stated the EXACT YEAR, PLACE, PEOPLE, EVENTS AND PERIODS when his Son would be born, how he would live and where he would die almost a thousand years before it happened; the same God who had stated to Job that ''the Earth is hanging upon nothing' and that ''the Earth revolved around the sun'' WAY BEFORE the Catholic Church was literally barbecuing people who said those very same words would let a bunch of self-proclaimed 'men of God' predict events like a curious six-year old, without specifics?! The same men you are worshipping failed to predict that 2020 would be the year of the global Coronavirus epidemic and untold hardship for millions of Nigerians and others across the globe, myself included, instead saying bullcrap about 2020 being a year of ''divine blessings'', of ''divine acceleration'', of ''a better Nigeria'', of ''double blessings'', of Vision 2020 whey dem don already throway before year start, iwo naa wa je kori e kpe jor! ![]() You can fool some people some time, you can fool some people most of the time but you cannot fool all the people all the time. ![]() -Abraham Lincoln. |

Yeah, I'm just curious to know who is the most well-known Nairalander, both in forum and outside the forum. With the exception of Oga Seun (senior man! ) and the mods (lalasticlala, snake prince, ) mynd44, dragnet (boss man, the ban lord! Abeg no ban me oh! ) amongst others.Mine is definitely ONE PERSON. slawormir! Dayum, nyugga ![]() Who's yours? I would like to know. PS: You can add the most well-known Nairalander in your respective sections, too. LET THE COMMENTS BEGIN! ![]() |

Really impressed with Tecno, though is it just me or does that beta look much uglier than the one Google showed on 17 May (yes, I watched it). Anyway, I have a few observations, OP: 1.) Where is the Privacy Dashboard? Camera and microphone indicators? (in my opinion, these are the most important Android 12 features) 2.) The adaptive themes, are they available? (I mean the wallpaper-based adaptive themes) 3.) I also noticed that Android 12 looks much snappier than before. So does that beta on the 17. Hope when the final release comes out, Tecno will not choke it with bloat. 4.) Please tell me Tecno has removed that bloody battery optimization (or at least improved it). 5.) Lastly but by no means the least,I hope they'll actually release the final version to the Camon 17 and also update Spark 6, Spark7P, Camon 16 Premier, Pouvoir 4 Power and other devices that launched with Android 11 out of the box i.e at least a MAJOR OS upgrade. Make e nor stop here oh. Big ups to Transsion. Keep it up! PS: Ehhh, awon Infinix ati itel she ti ri egbon yin? E she dada jor!Update us o @OP. |

Kojiek:Dear friend, Hands down, Redmi 9A. Don't like MIUI? Then go for the Samsung. Love lightweight phones? Then go for the vivo. My opinion tho. |
ddjay:They (and Infinix) are goin' global, bud. They gotta start from somepin. Maybe they should study the Western markets just as they studied Africa. Oppo, vivo, Xiaomi et al weren't that cool from the beginning. UX designed mainly for Asian markets, irregular LTE band support, no warranties, no refund policy, service centres etc. But they did listen to the people, nein? |
cute75:May I suggest a solution, sir? Use MalwareByte. |
2 Alfred234:I think they're trying to say their device is the first Mediatek smartphone to get the beta. Nice one, btw. sunshineV:Tecno, nice one for PR purposes. Great to see you are actually listening to the fans. Please can we get maybe HiOS 8 on Android 12 (stable, not beta) too on December for all Android 10 and 11 devices? Who knows; maybe stating your update policy will go a long way too. Pretty please? ![]() |
edoairways:Hello, sir. You were spot on up there. These people understand the African market. It's sad but it's the truth. That's why they made sure that: 1). Devices are everywhere, people can get their hands on them and they are advertised well. 2). Their after-sales service is widespread, and devices can be fixed easily even by roadside technicians because their devices can use the same parts across the lineup. (It's not uncommon to see the display of the Camon 15 used on the Infinix S5 Pro). 3). Brand awareness campaigns, online promos and contests, giveaways with celebrities, etc. Truth is, these are some of the reasons Samsung is still the phone boss worldwide (when it comes to sales). It isn't just important having the best specs on a gadget. It's getting the average Joe Blow's mitts on the damn things. Why do you think LG failed and Sony is struggling with their mobile division? People have to know a product exists. Seriously, only enthusiasts, techies, power users (like me ) or fans order phones overseas. The average Naija peep don't like stress. Why sweat to get your hands on a phone that, yes, it is great value for money but, no, it's hard to buy, it's tough to fix and it's filled with all kindsa stuff most people will never use? (it took a year for my friend who uses a Galaxy S8 to realize that it has iris recognition!) Look, I'm being pragmatic here. I ain't sayin' an ir blaster isn't important; what I'm saying is that most Nigerians don't give a shit. Educate them? You wanna teach your lecturer how to use his phone? Let's get real, hermanos. |
falcon01:iOS users be like; 'With iOS 14.5's disable tracking features, now I am safe from the very big orbiting eyes and ears of the Guoanbu and the NSA! Uh, bro, Apple still tracks you. And nobody can prove it because iOS is closed-source. There's a damn good reason Zimbabwean rebels never used smartphones to communicate with each other. |
samsard:I hate arguing religion (been burned too many times over it) but please; remind this guy about the Crusades; or about the Spanish Inquisition, or about the countless wars and conflicts fought since the beginning of time because of religion! In World War I, British, French, Russian, German, Bulgarian, Italian and almost the entire Christians of Europe were killing their fellow Christian brothers in the name of God. And don't you forget that the Church of Germany was behind Hitler when he slaughtered six million Jews! Stop being emotional over the subject of religion! |
Hashabiah:Aw, come on! Why do we always have to run in a totally unrelated direction? That's how y'all'd be saying that every tech advancement is a sign that the sky is falling! Jeez! |
Pimine:Hello, people. Admiring Tecno's tactics here. Quite impressive, but aren't they forgetting something? PS: Oh; and this is for the @OP who said, along with many ''reputable'' blogs and news sites that Tecno Mobile won the Camera Innovation Award at IFA 2020 in Berlin. Well, I'm familiar with IFA's awards and I've checked their website and it appears that that award does not exist. Why do I say this? Simple. Google 'IFA 2020 award winners'. I did that. Nothing. Checked IFA's website. No mention of Tecno, or that award at all. Trust me, I searched reputable tech websites (like GSMArena, Wccftech, Forbes, Techradar et al) and I saw nothing! Even AndroidAuthority posted a list of the winners at IFA Berlin; which by the way was a virtual event. Tecno wasn't mentioned, nor that 'Camera Technology Innovation Smartphone Gold Award'. Now, if they did win this, why wasn't it on IFA's website?? PPS: Hey: I am not hating on any brand. I just want the truth. Comments welcome. After all, didn't Lenovo make some very wild claims about one of their phones? ![]() |
LegalRambles:Y'all have to understand that every phone has it's strengths and weaknesses. Transsion's main selling point in Africa is their after-sales service and the fact that they understand the African market. Now, let me explain. Many of us here on Nairaland are old enough to remember when Tecno first started manufacturing Android cellphones (I think it's in 2012, when we had the Tecno N3. Who remembers that phone? ) I still recall Infinix's first phone, though, the Alpha (?) What I'm trying to say is that it's all about brand recognition. Trust me, I know how good Xiaomi's phones are (damn, I can't wait to see the Mi Mix 4 or whatever they go'n be callin' it! ) but they have one big issue in Nigeria. Some of you here are vehemently against Transsion (howdy, skywalker ; hi, sunshine ; hey, where's drjprince?! ) and I perfectly understand. I've been on Nairaland as a guest since 2017, and I've been reading all your posts. I know firsthand how unimpressive Transsion's phones are, both spec-wise and through using them. For instance, I once used an itel A56. DAMN, THAT PHONE MADE ME HATE BLOATWARE! ALMOST 40 APPS PREINSTALLED ON A PHONE WITH .16GB of storage! And performance, even with Android Go, was bad for me , because stupid itel went to slap a heavy skin on top of an already light OS. I've also used Infinixes (Hot 4, Hot 5, Hot 7 Pro), Tecnos (Camon C8, Spark 4) and a Gionee (S10 Lite). Thanks to my budget, I couldn't get anything better. That S10 performed the best, but I had to sell it. (Damn brokeness). Currently into KaiOS, cuz I can't stand lag. Two seconds' keyboard delay can drive me insane . Haven't used a Xiaomi; the only one I've actually seen in the flesh was a Redmi 7A and I had to pinch myself to be sure I wasn't dreaming). You see? Not many people I know even know what Xiaomi is (hell, they can't even pronounce it! ). I've known Xiaomi ever since 2013, when surfing the web I stumbled upon the Redmi 2. If you go to a lot of stores in Nigeria, you hardly see anyone with them. In Ikorodu, where I live, I wanted to get the Redmi Note 5s, but no store there had it. I had to buy the Camon 8 as a stopgap but the staff at Demmy Global; damn, they wanted me to buy it and I urgently needed a phone. The phone's battery ended up swelling after eleven months. I guess it was my fault ( hey, I said I'm a power user, nein? I was playing PPSSPP and charging the damn thing all the time ). And on Jumia, they ain't goin' below #50K. You say Aliexpress but I don't wanna wait three weeks to get a phone that Jumia would deliver in four days. It's kind of like in the US; you wanna buy an LG or Xperia flagship, you gotta look for it. And how about servicing it? Repairpal? If I bought a Poco X3 (incredible value phone) and it so happens to fall (I'm a careful guy with phones that don't piss me off, but accidents do happen, yeah?) how am I gonna fix it? Order the screen from Aliexpress? I guess I could, but the average Sule doesn't want to go through all that stress just to fix a phone. That's why people left Symbian, BlackBerry and Windows Phone. Wahala boku for dis kontri, why add to it?TL:DR: I hope you understand. ![]() |
saxby:Uhh? ![]() Dear friend, I know about that too. However, it seems they rolled out that update to selected devices. Two of ma geez use the Spark 4 and they say they haven't seen it. And why Spark 4? Why not the more expensive Camon 16 Premier. Personally, though, I'm not too fussy about updates... though they are important. I think it is bad for manufacturers not to support devices or be unfair about it (e.g. ASUS. God, I love the ROG Phones, but, guy, Zenfone 6 got two major updates and the ROG Phone 2 only got one!) |
musicproducer:Sorry to disappoint you, friend, but that isn't strictly true. Yes, Xiaomi lets ads appear in their UX. But the important thing is: you can turn them off. And in Europe, no ads on flagship phones or premium midrangers. By the way, EVERYONE turns on ads. OnePlus does in India. Realme, vivo, even Samsung! At least, you can turn it on. But my main gripe with Transsion stuff are their own ads. They have all sorts of spammy crap even when mobile data is disabled. Those blasted bloatware apps like AHA Games, Phoenix browser, even their system apps, they choke the UX with ads. And YOU CANNOT GET RID OF THEM unless you use ADB and install Nova. Trust me, HiOS and XOS aren't good UIs. They are not smooth, animations and transitions aren't fluid even with 90Hz, and the skins are so heavy-handed and unintuitive. Androidauthority in their article about bad UIs called Infinix's UI 'something straight out of 2013'. |
saxby:He means MAJOR updates, tovarisch. Like from Android 10 to 11. And timely security patches. Though this is still Android's Achilles' Heel. |
Hakeem12:YOU, my friend, are the first person I have ever heard who does this. Personally, I have no issues with fast charging. You see, it isn't the current that is the problem per se, it is Li-ion's worst enemy: Heat. Higher voltage means greater heat. That's why the real innovators in both fast wired and wireless charging, namely Chinese brands, do the battery split thingy. Now, Xiaomi, nubia and iQOO be talking 120W. Sorry, but no. Give us graphene batteries, please. Fast charging has different approaches with manufacturers; well, I wouldn't call some innovative (cough, cough, Apple). Xiaomi with 120W and split graphene-enhanced, or 67W wireless with silicon-oxygen anodes. ASUS with dual 3000mAh and 65W MMT tech. Sony with 30W PPS + bypass charging and Qnovo tech. Or Apple's 5W PicK your poison.By the way, I am a power user. So I top up my mobe all the time. ![]() |
