creolehunt: slaawomirr: Babangidapikin: vikkyboi:Okay, it's been nearly three years since I've logged in on Nairaland lol. But I must say, I cannot help but jump into this conversation. You see, the mistake many of you fail to understand is that this invention of a fuelless generator is actually an ambiguous statement. Now, what do I mean by this? Well, it depends on context. You see, a portable power station or solar inverter is indeed a "fuelless generator". This is because it uses stored electrical energy to produce electricity. Now @Babangidapikin your analogy is incorrect because a car running on water isn't "fuelless". At least from my understanding derived from my background in engineering (albeit electrical), if you want to build a moving vehicle that runs on hydroelectric power, you would need a vehicle that is too large to be practical. So essentially you will have to use the water to generate electricity in some other way than its kinetic energy (i.e. turning a turbine). So, let's assume we have a "fuelless generator" that uses water. How do we generate power? One way to do this is to use a fuel cell. An electrochemical reaction could be used to split the water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen is what is used in the fuel cell to power the vehicle's electric motor, whole the oxygen can be stored for use for either the braking system or ventilation or released as exhaust. However, this requires splitting the water molecules first, which requires energy. How do you separate hydrogen and oxygen from water other than that? Well, you could use thermolysis (requires heat), metal reactants (will increase weight and thus reduce efficiency, plus sodium and potassium aren't exactly cheap lol) or photolysis (too freaking slow). Note that I didn't say anything about turning a turbine wheel with your borehole water. You can definitely build an electric generator from such a setup but you need to pump the water too. Okay, in theory you could rig a setup where the generator also pumps it's water as it runs but it's gonna seriously reduce the effective power generated because you lose additional energy pumping the water, infact, you will have a system that will fail because it used the energy used to generate electricity to merely pump water. And it's a machine, so there's friction, heat etc. So, mission failed. Or you can use a battery powered inverter to charge another battery inverter that is also charging the inverter to create a two-way system. But as anyone who has used a power bank knows, you will eventually run out of stored energy even if both batteries are charging themselves. Those of you who understand engineering or thermodynamics can see where I'm heading with this. And some of you sharp-eyed readers can pick the meat of what I am trying to say: this individual is obviously talking about a free energy generator. Now that's completely impossible, because of two laws that all engineering students are intimately familiar with (science students too) : the first and second laws of thermodynamicsz which are actually very similar to the law of conservation of matter in a way. The first law states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but can only be changed from one form to another. This simply means that you cannot pull energy out of nowhere; you must create it from something. Also it means that you can transfer energy from heat to do work, but the total energy of the system does not change The second law states that the total total entropy of an isolated system can never decrease over time. This simply means that whenever work on a machine, no matter how well lubricated or no matter how few moving parts is performed (while it is running) some energy is always lost. In essence, no energy system is 100% efficient. These two laws make such free energy generators impossible. lagusboyyy:Don't be surprised, my friend. This is due to something commonly referred to as "inflation". And since Tinubu has been chosen as the next president; I won't be surprised if said phone ends up being sold for ₦70,000+. Pity. |
thepoweruser:I assume you were wondering what I was laughing about. ![]() Well I just remembered this story of how the Mossad (Israeli intelligence service) wanted to take out this one terrorist. You wanna know how they did it? ![]() ![]() ![]() They used a satellite signal to disable the phone and got him a replacement, with ten ounces of C-4 in the plastic case. You gonna guess what happened next?... ![]() Modified: The guys name was Yahya Ayyash... |
GrandMufti:It's not connected to the internet. How you wan compromise Nokia 105.... Oh..... 😹😹😹😹😹 |
Okporiaku:Did you hear about Android 14 blocking installation of "outdated" apps (Android 6.0 below) because "they can compromise the security of the device"? That's bullcrap, if you ask me. Now now, someone out there might be saying "Why you wailing about outdated apps being blocked?" Are y'all forgetting something? It's only a matter of time before you start hearing Google say, "Android 16 has blocked usage of third party app stores due to'security concerns' " and the whole damn (average) world would swallow such sh*t hook, line and sinker without choking as we power users would do. 😤 The day that happens, wallahi I will be done with Android. 🚶🏿♂️🚶🏿♂️🚶🏿♂️🚶🏿♂️ |
DEXTROVERT:Forgeddaboudit. They ain't gon' work, bruv. Once rooted, you might as well say au revoir. |
Okporiaku:But... The average Joe would rather have the NSA and/or People's Liberation Army, Third Department, General Staff HQ; spying on their text messages and looking at their in flagrante photos than have Netflix broken because Widevine DRM got wiped when they rooted their phone... 🚶🏿♂️ |
GrandMufti:This is true, sah. However, sah, a rooted phone will be FAR more deeply penetrated and compromised than non-root. So much so that you might as well throw the phone away... 🚶🏿♂️ |
GrandMufti:I disagree. A lot of them don't. Surely you have heard about SafetyNet Check, yes? You can't spoof that SOB. Oh, and baba GrandMufti, hee don teey oh... ![]() I troway my 🧢 for you, sir. 🤜🏿🤛🏿 |
Valid point. But that's because of Mali GPUs. Or should I say Mali GPU driver optimization problems thanks to MediaTek not making their drivers widely available for developers (PC aficionados should know that GPU performance is heavily reliant on up to date driver support). Take for example, all Snapdragon above 865+ can play PUBG at Ultra HD. Only Mali-G710 MC10 (Dimensity 9000) and Immortalis-G715 MC11 (Dimensity 9200) can do so. Correct me if I am wrong. Ournolly: |
Okporiaku:All of 'em, bruvver. ![]() |
thepoweruser:Hold on, fellas. While I was typing this, I just had an idea attack. What if the real reason these manufacturers have been squeezing customizability on our devices is because they want to mine every single last drop of data from the consumer?? That's something to think about, innit? 🧐 |
Okporiaku:No, thanks. 😂 I personally think rooting isn't worth the hassle. Now the power user in me would have been outraged at such supposition but you've got to understand; they have made these things insanely hard to do and once it's done, ain't no goin' back, bruv. Put it simply, if you wanna root a phone because you fear the I-spies 👀 and Goog-snitches 😹 out there, I'd advise you not to do it on your main device. My two cents, tho. 🤷🏿♂️ Modified: Believe me, it enrages me to think of how these manufacturers are trying to wrest control from the end user. This is why I don't fanboy for any brand on Nairaland - I trash all of them (and praise them too, when praise is deserved). Why, I hear someone asking. Because they are all the same: They want to increase their profit margins as much as possible. |
Okporiaku:Uh... My Camon 17p has a locked bootloader so even if I could use Magisk I see no way how to do so. There is only one recently developed Tecno phone that I know you can root, and I think it's the Pouvoir 4 Pro. **PS: Mind you, I enabled developer options and turned on "OEM Unlock" and I did not get the Fastboot Menu.** |
Iceman296:Of course I've heard about the Mondrian Edition Camon 19Pro... Although it isn't thwe first phone to have the sunlight changing colour rear panel. That would be the vivo v23 Pro, although I think that could only shift to another colour and not multiple colours. Way before either of them was Oppo's Reno5 Pro+ Artist Limited Edition in 2020. That one could change between two colours just by tapping on its back.. Technically, one would say the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ with its Aura Glow colour preceded them as it could do the same thing the Mondrian Camon did, only back in 2019! But all this is nothing short of impressive, believe me. I've always suspected that since the day INFINIX announced their 160W charging technology, Transsion Holdings' flagship brands have gotten new investors, a new strategy, and a better R & D department. New partnerships, too. Their upcoming Phantom V Fold was designed with the collaboration of TCL, btw. (Just think of how much they have to spend on research and design on this one. That reinforces my suspicion of new investors). That's worthy of high praise, if you ask me. 👏🏿 They are really listening to the fans now. Although I do hope they improve their software update policy and their UX design if they truly want to take on the big boys globally because the strength of Apple and Samsung lies in their software, not their hardware. All in all though, I 'm truly impressed. 💪🏾 |
MaDaRa01: ![]() Lemme break it down for you... Imagine you go to Japan, for instance, and you want to ask for directions. So you pull out your phone to translate what someone is saying to you using Google Assistant and as you speak, a real time transcription of the translated word appears. The person then sees the question in Japanese, and replies; and the response is transcribed back to English. That's what Tensor was designed to do. All in real time, no network connection needed. Everything is processed on-device. Or have you wanted to watch a video with subtitles, but realized that there weren't any? Live Caption on the Pixel phones with Tensor does this without mobile data or WiFi... And it is amazingly accurate. Google 's dream for mobile devices is to achieve what is commonly referred to as "ambient computing"; that is, the ability of computers to recognize and process information from its environment. That was why they said that "Tensor was never built to win benchmarks but built to focus on where AI and ML is going". I hope you gerrit. ![]() |
Reeb2244:TBH, I feel that the best thing about Nokia phones is their software update policy. And their stock UI that adds little overhead to running the phone. But their prices are just plain overkill, believe me. And btw, where will you see Nokia G60 for 120k? Something that's 207K on jumia... 🤷🏿♂️ |
Okporiaku:How would you root a Tecno/INFINIX/Itel phone produced after 2015? I'd like to know.🚶🏿♂️ |
classic200609:Really? ![]() Bruh, Pixel phones are notorious for having poor sustained performance. Only with the Pixel 7 series was temp control improved; but still the efficiency of the chip is still bad compared to even Snapdragon 888. And TBH the Phantom X2 /Pro is truly faster than the Pixel 7. Heck, it's even faster than the S21 Ultra... and that is slightly faster than the Pixel. However the Pixel only feels fast because the software is 64-bit only, so older ARMv7a apps will not run (like PPSSPP). But in native AI processing; Pixel 6 and 7 is still king. The real reason why Google decided to design their own chip was because they wanted their custom ML and AI models to run efficiently on the phone. You know, the same AI models that run their data servers... ![]() |
jeromestarks: jeromestarks:Why all the insults? Is it not his money? So because I wan show say I serious I go come use 80K invest? Perhaps you go cone point me to one of those "drop 5k to get 5 million" WhatsApp groups as said "investment"? 🤨 Perhaps you should come and list the investments 80K can give you. For all those that want to invest, I would advise you to make sure you are capable of bearing any losses... Otherwise you go just give yourself high BP... ![]() |
visaclick:Really? 🤷🏿♂️ Okay, I get that you're impressed by iOS and it's features but lemme tell you... -camera quality is too notch, i know u tink samsung is better but trust me its not.In low light and zoom photos every Ultra Sammy kills all iPhones other than the iPhone 14 Pros in low light. As for the iPhone 14 Pros, in low light it is a close one between it and the S22 Ultra, but I will still choose Sammy. S23 Ultra is better than both. Zoom photos? Bro, no contest... 😹 Portraits in daylight... It's a toss up. Now video recording is where Apple rules. 👑 - there are two engineering app that comes factory built with iphone, very good for engineers and surveyors especially when u have no one to hold the tape rule in site infact i have to pay someone up to 3k holding tape for meA lot of Androids (Samsungs included) come preinstalled with this feature but I will say that Apple's ruler measuring tool is more accurate thanks to the miracle of LiDAR. But iPhones are far from the only phones that use LiDAR. Samsung S22 and S23 Ultra use them too but I think exclusively for autofocus and portraits. - the os security, others are secured but apple face id is underrated, for it working even at night.iPhones aren't the only phones with 3D FaceID-style face unlock (the kind with a SL 3D sensor and a dot projector . Off the top of my head, I can name five phones with a similar feature: -Oppo Find X -Huawei Mate 50 Pro/+/RS -Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer - Google Pixel 4/Xl (this one has the best in my opinion, no IR dot projector with 3D camera but has mmWave radar to scan the face and detect gestures. It is so damn good that you can actually unlock your phone sitting with the device on your table a few metres away.) -Huawei Mate 20 Pro (not sure if this has that dot projector) **Modified: Oh, it seems the Pixel 4 flagships do have the dot projector.** **Modified: Looks like the Mate 20 Pro has it too. ** |
soap94:Superior software or not, Android will always be better than iOS in two areas IMHO; 1) Flexibility and customizability; and 2) Diversity and variety. Apple would, I'm sure, rather pay billions in fines than let iOS use any alternative third party app stores. That said; Android is starting to piss me off. Which one na "Android 14 will block installation of apps lower than API Level 26 (Android 6.0) under the holy name of "security"? 😤😤😤😤 It's been long since I posted, though. **PS: Ordinarily I would have said after IMHO "now and forevermore" but honestly I am not so sure anymore. 😢** |
nerdfrost:Not really, bud. You see, I wouldn't use an iPhone for serious gaming. Except for the iPhone 14 Pros, sustained performance on iPhones aren't all that impressive. However, games are optimized pretty damn well. That's more than I can say for Pixels. Dig this, homie: A15 Bionic even at 60% of it's power blows Google Tensor into the stratosphere in raw performance. Should we talk about the inefficient GPU in the same Tensor? (Tensor 2 is a lot better but it still doesn't come close to even A13 Bionic). Read GSMArena reviews, mate. ![]() |
Greatzeus:@N_Landers... A Wise Man once said to me; "The only reliable way to unlock an iPhone is to use iCloud, since it ain't end-to-end encrypted". Don't reply those messages, bruh. |
oracle009:He has a point though. IMHO the last non-compromise Samsung Galaxy phones were the Note 9 and the S10+. |
henrygold100: bluebay:REALLY??

For the record... Unbiased1:Actually it all depends on aesthetics. Do you like cool, contrasty photos or do you like taking pics of metropolitan areas such as cityscapes and highways? Do you like the ability to remove photobombers in one tap? Get yourself a Pixel. However do you love taking beach pictures? Cat photos? Sharp photos of toddlers jumping into the swimming pool? Or do you like editing your pics? Get the iPhone. Oh, and by the way the iPhone takes better selfies, thanks to better image processing and autofocus. If you want a reliable camera, however; just get an iPhone. Unbiased1:Hands down the iPhone practically *butchers* the Pixel 6 Pro in video quality and camera switching. Unbiased1:Honestly, apps just look and perform better on iOS. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯¯ Unbiased1:Never use a Pixel for gaming if you are playing with eSports champs. Just sayin'. Oh, and BTW , thepoweruser is back, fam. |
atheistandproud:Hullo, my people. How una dey? You missed me? ![]() Anyway; I think the Camon 18 Premier is totally worth 180K. 182K? Well, yes, but... If you can get it for 180K, please do. Transsion Holdings (or rather INFINIX and TECNO, I won't even mention that other one .) has seriously impressed me.Forget Helio G95 and G96; I think these phones: the Phantom X, Zero X Pro and Camon 18 Premier are camera-focused midrangers. Sure, the Redmi Note 10 Pro beats the Zero X Pro in main, ultrawide and selfie cameras and video quality; far better performance, design and battery life; but the fact that Tecno is giving you a PERISCOPE at this price point is just mindblowing. Even more unexpected is the Camon 18 Premier with 'gimbal OIS' on the ultrawide. Sure, it's not vivo X70 Pro+ quality; but at this price range Tecno is even ahead of the big boys here. I mean, even high-end, top-drawer flagships don't have stabilized ultrawides. And now that they are cleaning up their software skin, it's even better. Transsion's top brands are doing great! I'm highly impressed with their products now. Big ups to the new management! (And thanks to the critics, too!!) |

(Just think of how much they have to spend on research and design on this one. That reinforces my suspicion of new investors). That's worthy of high praise, if you ask me. 👏🏿
