I beg to differ. Everyday, names are exchanged at retail market between domainers that get sold within a short time in the hands of the new owner. meanwhile it has been with the previous owner for years. Its not about knowledge only

When its renewal time, some folks will let some names go, should any of those name sell, no time to cry, you move on.

There is someone I buy BB accepted unregistered name from, he doesnt register names BB appraise for less than 2k. so he sells them off. I sold one after 33days of registration. I shared the news with him, he congratulated me and still sells names to me till this day. He is a veteran

Thanks for the reply. But there is also a provision on their platform to accept the commission or reject it.

Once you reject that offer, you can't resubmit it. even if the name expires, the new owner will get a message that the name has been submitted to the marketplace before.

What you can do is to chat with them, tell them the name was approved but you have changed your mind, you want it to be creative owned. so how do you go about it?

hope you meet the right person cos some of them aren't that knowledgeable about their platform. They will tell you to reject the offer & work on it from there.

if there are delays, it's that chat you will keep referencing to them. should they tell you that it can't be done, politely ask that you be referred to a supervisor.

Dan sent a message that they sent my sale btc yesterday, which I have been using for a long time to Recieve fund from them, but it's surprising that till now, no notification from luno about an incoming bitcoin, it's over 16hours this happened, and I have never experienced this with luno before.

Now I don't know who is holding the btc.

Use bitcoin explorer to view your wallet address. it will show you how many confirmations it has made, if any at all.

If It doesn't get the number of confirmation required(don't know how many Luno needs) it won't reflect in your wallet.

Some others will reflect but you wont be able to use the funds until the number of confirmation is met

Congratulations to amazymayo and some other recent sellers. Its been long i checked here, so i might not be able to answer some of those questions where i was quoted. Sorry, some offline jobs taking my time. I can see Beckyplanet answered some of them though.

I want to quickly address something, so Nigerians wont waste the little money they suffered to get. hunger is currently our Coronavirus, we should be careful.

All the newbies, especially those that just got approved approved at Brandpa should stay away until they master what sells in the brandable niche. This takes time and years to master. I repeat, years of experience. Me sef still dey learn.
Dont go and start listing with extra $5 to $8 because they accept all names. You will be frustrated out and they have taken their own money.

For now, stay with brandbucket or sh that solve part of your problem by rejecting some of your bad names till you learn what works.

Only experienced domainers will benefit from the new brandpa system, if that works at all. The are currently a grandma until further notice

A word is enough for the wise. Don't waste your money.

I bought a domain a couple of weeks ago I listed it on epik and Dan market place but the domain was already listed on afternic for 450$ and I forgot to contact afternic to delist the name, i did outbound and today I receive a message from the former owner asking how much I will sell it, I told him $499 and he later reply by declaring himself the former owner that a buyer have hit his bin on afternic. Now he is asking me how we will come to conclusion

You can equally write to Afternic, let them know you are the new owner & that you are trying to list it. It showed it is already listed. Act like you don't know what is happening

Make sure whois shows your details, use the email that is on whois to write to Afternic.

Your other points are on point but for this not necessarily. You don't know how long the previous owner held it, you don't know how many names he had in his portfolio. Most guys who have large portfolio usually sell off their names retailer price to be able to pay for reg fees.

Some folks will tell you that while the transaction is ongoing should the name sell, they will give you 100%, some will mention a figure, some will tell u the deal will be called off.

The most important thing is make a decision on principle & stand by it regardless of the outcome.

Some persons will sell a name on wholesale market & keep monitoring the name to see if the new buyer sold it. That's needless

I got a two word domain name, geo to be precise.
I did a little outbound and an enduser told me why did I do this to her, that she was sick, and that the domain name is hers. That she forgot to renew it. That she can send me her doctor's report and medical expenses to show she was sick.

I asked her to pay 3oo for it, she said it can't happen that I should have mercy I asked her to pay 99 for it, she said that the renewal of the domain is just 25, and she didn't reply me again.
I am still holding on to the name....

Parking is long gone excerpt you have a killer domain name that pulls traffic like mad, which I doubt you have.

I just checked my starred names I gathered today and see what happened? All gone, I mean all today's gathered names all gone..

GD expired, GD TDANM, GD make offer or UR names, in fact any marketplace name will always appear as "Registered" on expireddomain

it's only Expired names that will be available for hand reg, if it hasn't been regged.

At what point were did you search and see that they were available for hand registration?



PS: GD expired names moves from there to Auction, if not bought, it moves to closeout, if not bought, it becomes available for hand registration. All stage takes time, all could run into month(s)

I understand your frustration, I was once in your shoe and occasionally I still find myself getting frustrated. eg all names I have submitted since last week till now, have been rejected. Though I will appeal some of them later.

Keeping researching and sharpening your skills, you will get better with time, now I'm a Tier A creative. it didnt happen overnight. Go read the articles on keyword in Dngeek website. it will help. another thing is check SH marketplace for new arrivals, that will give you an idea of names they are accepting.

Another thing, that a name is rejected doesnt mean it is not good, it could mean that they have too many similar names in their marketplace.

Sometimes SH reject good names and accept some names that may not sale quick or below average. You be thinking what factors they use to accept names.

You can submit unregistered name to BB. if it gets accepted, you go ahead to register and then list with them. The problem is their review time takes like a month, even more so someone else can register it before you. If you are fully convinced it is a good name, you can go ahead to register it. Most times i wait for their decision before register

The Best names have been taken, though there are still gems in expired domains. There are more better names via backorder, auctions and GD closeout though more expensive.

I want to focus on those for now. it is still time consuming to search for names on GD closeout.

Don't pretend and deny you don't at least get encouragement and draw inspiration from sales reports.

When there is a story behind a sale, there are things I learn. but telling me Gwarimpacarpetcleaning sold for x amount, hold time 5days does me no good. I dont come here for such sales report. I come here for the Q & A.

There is no amount of those news articles, comments on forums, etc. you read that teaches you how names are coined, market trends, etc. better than actual sales reports.

This is your model to learn from sales to be able to come up with names. it works for you, stick to it. I dont subscribe to it, I learn from news articles, comments on forums etc Pls go to Namebio, Its a robust database of sold domain name by niche, category, tld, date, year etc it will help you alot since sales report motivates you.

For Newbies: Define your objective, what do you want out of this business? The answer to this will determine how you go about it and save you from frustration.

I made a decision mid last year, not to register Geo names again and not to renew them when they expire.(I renewed just one). I didnt like the time i was putting into getting enduser contacts and time to send outbound mails. it was serious work for me. So i resolved to stick to brandable and list them on SH,BB,BP thereby relying on their marketing strategy to do all the work for me.

I am ok if the names dont sell or if it takes 3years to sell. My brandables will be renewed for 2-3yrs, then i will drop it if it doesnt sell, for names i acquire for $250 above, hold time will be for 5yrs, before I allow it drop. This was my resolution and i have stuck with it.

To reduce my Renewal Fees, I decided to focus on SH owned names by submitting unregistered names, I get a lower commission if the name sells but I dont have any business with renewal for 3yrs. I am also very ok with this.

I have also made a decision to stop handreg, Now i want to focus on Reseller market on Namepros, BB slack channel and GD closeout. I cant compete with the white folks on GD auctions for now.

This doesnt mean that I wont change or make modifications to the above plans but it shows I have a clear cut objective, so there are so many things that will never apply to me or that I will bother myself about.

I think you are not being honest with yourself. The truth is, you haven't given up because you have been seeing sales report, especially here, by fellow Nigerians.

Again, speak for yourself, My continuing with this is not because of the sales i have had or sales that i am reading about. why cant you accept that people are different and as such, different thing works for them. The bulk of the sales report on this thread is on Geo names, how can that be my motivating factor when i am not into Geo?

And the brandables and keyword names you're into now, wasn't it still sales report you used as a guide to selecting names? Didn't the reports gear you up?

Sales did not GEAR ME UP! Brandable and keywords were gotten and still being gotten from research, reading articles, forums(especially BB slack channel, not even namepros)
I started out by paying for brandable list, $30 per list. Search Namepros and other forums, you will see folks offering that service. I got discouraged from that because i started getting poor quality names, repeated names too and some days, there will be no single name that i can submit to SH or register cos of poor names.

Then I saw some comments on BB slack channel, that pointed me in the direction to search, that how i came up with my own search parameters for keywords. For those that are interested in how i came up with mine, visit Dngeek. search for all articles that references keywords and naming. The information there is loaded.

You're always encouraging others not to report sales. I remember there was a time a guy made a sale and was going to post a report , but you jumped in and discouraged him.

For the love of God, someone reported a sale that was yet to be complete and i simply told him industry standard practice of revealing names only when transaction/escrow was complete. how in Gods name is that discouragement? Is it wrong to correct someone?

All my Geonames I started with, none sold, I let them expire, only renewed one, Few months after serious outbounding, I told myself that Geo wasnt for me. That was when i made the decision not to renew any of the names.

There is no amount of sales report for Geonames that will steer me in that direction again. It doesnt mean that there is no money in Geo or that folks are not making sales. its just not for me

SH rejected the name Oct 24th

I cant remember when i submitted it to BB but the review result came on December 29th, it was at that point i registered it.

I submit lots of names to SH, from time to time, i go through my reject list and submit some of the names to BB.(After checking that BB accepts similar names or pattern of names)

One of my names was rejected by SH. An unregistered name. Thereafter i submitted the name to BB. it got accepted and went live on Dec 29th 2019.

The name got sold yesterday on BB, 60th day to be exact, buyer wanted a tranfer to Godaddy.

Moral: A rejection of a name in one marketplace does not mean the name is bad and that it will never sell.

My SH name is 124 premuim names and still counting and i am yet to make a sale. Dominaing is a game of patience

The guy is like the typical Nigerian that is reactive and not proactive. The governing body of your country financial institution releases info from their approved twitter handle, the subject matter involves your line of business, sit down there and dont make enquiries as to how it affects you and your business and what measures you can take to minimize the risk/impact.

If not that this administration is filled with yoyo policies as similar to the confusing tweet/memos from CBN, it is his type that will suddenly cry that he went to the bank and he couldnt withdraw funds across the counter, he will make noise that he was able to withdraw last week, why the sudden change.
