And now someone has paid for it because it's buy now option.
What should I do now please

Let's see the typo name that got sold & how much was it listed.

What's the current status of the domain? How did the name get sold on Afternic? I thought expired names are delisted(pending review)

When I search for my expired names on Afternic, it doesn't come up. A search on godaddy will tell you that the name has been taken.

Please house, does anyone know why a name will drop twice in a single year? Was checking the history of a domain and saw it dropped twice in a particular year. How possible is that? I thought a name can only drop once in a year since an active name can only expire the following year if not renewed.

Maybe the name got deleted, then got registered by someone else

To answer your question, for upgrade to a shorter name or a name that matches their business name.

You are correct on the bolded but once they suspect fraud. That deal is off the table.

Knowing its Nigeria can be a deal killer.

I think both would have ran for their life if you had quoted 1500 or 2500.

There was a name I sold for $50 on epik during covid, it was sold to a comedian. It was his name. The guy told me economy was bad & that was what he could offer. I think my BIN was 250.

A southafrican domainer told me then to quote 3k or so. Do you think the guy would have bothered to counter 3k offer with 50?

He won't even respond to "we are open to offers"

I've bought only one domain from closeout. Sent an email to the owner of the singular and hyphenated version. The man said "Yes what is your offer?"

I replied: "My asking price is $2500". Baba don japa since. Did like 2 follow ups after that but didn't get a reply. Last Follow up was April 30.

Not planning to follow up further because I don't want to look desperate. Planning to renew and wait till he reaches out back to me.

Some notes: He might have checked whois and might have seen my father's land. Maybe that's why, maybe not. (GoDaddy).

Domain was pointed to Dan before but now currently pointed to GoDaddy.

I had a similar experience, she was from australia

I quoted 1800. she went silent & never responded to any of my mails again.

Its possible the price was too high for them and they felt, they couldnt negotiate

same way you go to the market and hear some prices, you go jejely comot because you feel they might be offended by your counter offer.

After 7days. do note that there is a percentage of names you will remove that will affect your standing

I started Domaining in 2019. Since then, I have bought 4 closeout domains.

Background info on the 2nd name. Listed on Squadhelp. I noticed one day(2021) that the .io had just been registered and it was developed and fully functioning. Did all I could to get the email of the CEO, I couldnt.

I needed to raise funds so I delisted the name from SH. listed it for $700. Got an offer from the CEO for $300. Countered $450. He countered $350. I accepted cos I needed the funds and didnt want to loose the sale. lost some sales during negotiation.


I also figured that they must have seen the name on SH before opting to register the .io(meaning the price on SH was beyond what they could afford or willing to spend at that moment)

What has been your experience with Closeout Domains?

Please I have suggested to the house before, if someone post a sale report. no need to quote the sale report and post congratulations.

For our learning, how did you determine that the domain had high worth.

I ask because if you didn't know, you probably won't have been able to negotiate from 400 to this sale price.

If I had not spoken out, isn't there a possibility that that post would not have been corrected & someone falling prey to it.

If you had a pressing matter to resolve financially & had to let a domain go, then get to experience this delay in payment, please tell me to exercise patience

First off, after successful transfer of the name, I asked Dan to send my payment in Pounds before I went to upload the grey details in my payment settings

It didn't take long for the money to land in

Perhaps you didn't make that request for GBP in your payment window

DAN sent funds Tuesday 28th June.

Please has anyone been in a situation like mine, USD payment being sent to a GBP account & not receiving the funds nor the funds being rejected.

If yes, please how did you resolve it.

DAN sent payment Tuesday last week to Grey GBP acc

Grey says usd to the acc is blocked & as such, DAN should recall. DAN says they can't recall, I should wait for rejection.

Grey says automatic rejection takes 1-3business days & if that doesn't occur, DAN has to ask for recall

DAN says I should wait for rejection.

I like experts here to explain something a bit confusing, I see a number of short letter domains sold for as much as 1k at auction, are these buyers end users or they are trying to sell them too ?

Just here trying to learn more on this industry

1. Those kind of names you are referring to are most times Premuim names

2. They have a great Resale value even amongst domainers

3. Sometimes end users also participate in these auctions

4. Its a Win Win situation, if you as an investor can win those auctions, then you can keep and hold for the end user for premuim price, you can equally sell it off later to another domainer at wholesale price

There are exceptions to all I put here.

eg some auctions end up being between 2 people, one of the them could be the enduser, if you outbid him and win. he might not buy the name from you at your price because he probably stopped bidding on the name when he got the highest price he was willing to pay for the name.

Next time boss, just ask Dan in the payment window to send your payment in GBP; they will show you how to set subsequent payments to GBP as well
Then their conversion is automatic and payment takes just some hours

DAN has not gotten a reject.

(Grey says it takes 3working days for the funds to reject automatically & that if it doesn't then DAN should do a recall.

DAN says they cant do a recall, I need to wait for the reject) its more than 3working days now by the way.

I am just angry & I don't want to spill my mind.

When this is all resolved, I will stick to what has always worked for me.

Once again, if you haven't gone through a process before, state that clearly, so that the reader will know whether to ask further questions or act upon the info.

If you are also busy or distracted, don't give procedures

You are right, although I chatted with Dan cc one time like that.. I was told to change my account settings from $ to that of £ for you to receive payment through pounds.. that's the best thing to do all your listing will be in pounds..

I know of this option. Most end users won't be comfortable having prices in pounds. Since most of our end users use $. That means conversion & all of that.

That doesn't help mentally neither will it help in hitting the BIN.

We all know the feeling of getting paid on time when we sell a name & how we feel when there are delays.

Please if you haven't used a process before or aren't sure, make that very clear when giving procedures here.

Grey is saying DAN has to ask for a recall, DAN is saying Grey has to reject it.

Automatic conversions was afternic....not sure Dan does that..... I withdraw to payoneer from Dan takes 5 mins and payoneer straight to grey and it only takes an hour...payoneer does the conversion....and am not certain grey would receive usd for a gbp account....you can complain to grey customer service when they open tomorrow.....

Just got this from Dan....you should contact dan and see if they could fix it...

We send the payout in the currency that the domain was sold in. However, if this causes issues on your end please let me know so that I can let our finance team know and they can look into it for you.

Its my GBP account I filled in. Their message was $××× was sent. I read somewhere on this thread that DAN will do the conversion.

Took an hour one time,took a day another time...but it rarely goes more than 5 days highest...as long as your name is same as the one on grey it will arrive....
