Let me think, I've heard a lot said to me but I love this one "A knight in shining armor" |
Nigeria is a sad country |
OGBUEFIORA:I'm sorry if I negate your opinion but I have to make certain things clear which I think are pretty conventional. When it comes to matters like this, excuses aren't generally acceptable. Excuses will call for wrong choices and reactions; it will put things in bad shape because you won't and will never act on the truth but on excuses and that will make everything just look bad. The best thing to do here is tell her the truth, but make it bearable by making the right choice of words, but not make any excuse or lie about anything. Every woman, we have to honestly admit, are pushy. But that doesn't mean we have to overlook the fact that they like to be pampered; of which some of them know how to present that character, while some go by it in a violent or rather bossy manner. The latter are regarded as being pushy, bossy or overbearing. The duty of the man is not to dominate a woman, you have to play the role of a partner --- don't mix making your stand known to your woman with dominance. November girls aren't LEOs, the ones between July and August are. September to October 22 is Libra, October 23 - somewhere in the middle of November is Scorpio and they are known to be very very secretive. |
platinumnk:Thank you. It'll encourage a lot more people to come back on NL if you guys start posting again. I've been lurking on this romance section, but none have been posting. Anyways, thanks again ![]() |
platinumnk:Hmmmmm. . . . . what can I say? Am I really the reason you post less? I enjoy reading up on you too, so it'd do me lots of good to see you post some time, OK? Thanks for the admiration. ![]() |
*** She disrespects. Hence, the need for her to insult your intelligence. *** She's a harlot; she's just keeping you until she's done with her escapades. *** She's not worthy of a relationship *** She deserves no respect from you. *** She's cheap *** She's a liar *** She's manipulative. There's no constructive reason she should be engaged in such relationships, obviously, you're the one being played, insulted and taken for granted here. |
Northerners are nothing but baggage of conflicts and a congregation of angrily motivated and clueless fools. I just wish Nigeria should separate and part ways. Now, CIA will be looking into Nigeria and a potential Taliban ally; not to mention that Taliban will be considering hiring some of these bloody and non-resourceful fools to kill innocent Nigerians. I was wondering though, why didn't Yara'useless send soldiers to kill these militants? |
I don't see a problem with the lady proposing to the guy; she felt comfortable with the idea of having known the guy much to her own satisfaction while it's the other way round for the guy. The guy has obviously impressed her, made her feel loved and comfortable enough to want to propose to him. But, the main issue has to be resolved -- which is your friend's picking on some sensitive areas of her behaviors. I wouldn't know what they are, but I think he'd really get down to the root of those areas before he presses on with the arrangement. I understand him being so jelly when it comes to issues that requires a commanding reaction, however, this can be handled more maturely: which I want to believe he is. They've known each other for a year, started dating last 6 months goes a long way to prove they must have been friends at some point before getting into a relationship; also speaks volume of how resonant the both of them will have been when they were friends for them to have graduated into a relationship. Communication's the best option here. He's matured enough to talk to her, let her know his mind and where he stands. He should let her know he likes her, but still feels uncomfortable with some sensitive areas about her. Yeah, you guys will say, if he tells her she will tend to cover those up. No, they can never be covered because behavioral and attitudinal inclinations are like smoke that can never be caged. If she truly loves him, she will understand where he is coming from and let him find out whatever he wants to -- as I'm sure she doesn't want a relationship or marriage that will go sour in the future, would she? Your friend should come out of his shell and speak his mind, otherwise he'll make a rash decision that may perpetually land him into a gravy mess. |
Also, "Aromolaran" family has produced the longest living kings in Ilesha history. The first Aromolaran ruled between 1920 and 1942. The second Aromolaran is the current king, and has been ruling since 1982. |
How do we know this is not WINNERGAL? |
Yes, it is true. |
ibkaye:I choose to disagree with you though. Not everything will be seen on google. Yoruba history is too deep to be put on a some google pages --- everyone knows that. There are so many of these things that you have to listen to them from the source; old men and women, monarchs, chiefs etc., before you know them and those things can never be put on google pages, my dear. Does google have an information on how Oranmiyan's staff ended being in Moopa in Ile-Ife? I'm sorry for you, Hausa-Yoruba girl. |
amosexy:Yes, that is correct. Sango had three wives turn into rivers. Osun, Oya and Ooba. The last two I mentioned don't mix, they don't meet even until now. You put mix the water up in any container, it'll bust it. They have never been friendly. Anyone from Ilobu here? There's a little to your history. Laroosinmi founded Ilobu. His oracle directed him from Oyo Ile to settle in Ilobu. He was a hunter and farmer. That started to get people to come there from different parts. Soon, there was a mineral discovered there, a substitute salt. They call it "Obu-O-Toyo". That attracted people from all walks of life to trade there. So they called the town, "Ilu-Obu-O-Toyo" and the shortened form is "Ilobu" the town is popularly known by. Oyo Ile was founded by Oranmiyan who was a grandson of Oduduwa. Ilobu was one of the four provinces of Yoruba proper. Others were, Ekun otun, Ekun osi and Epo. Laroosinmi was from Oyo Ile hence, the reason Ilobu was among the Oyo Ile provinces. Yoruba proper also has IBOLO province and they were head over Ilobu. Other towns that made up the IBOLO province are : Iresa, Ofa, Oyan, Okuku, Ikirun, Ido and Ejigbo -- all in Osun State |
A fact I already forgot to mention is Osun goddess was a wife of Sango, god of thunder. |
God blessed us with everything, but he cursed us with bad leaders. Yaradua is a tribalistic president and is no way different from his brothers who had ruled us earlier. Katsina, a state that looks like a shack, has 34 LGAs and why should Lagos be limited to 20 LGAs? The man is a twisted fool. . . . . . a disgrace to Nigeria. Nigeria is a disgrace to Africa. We have the most intelligent people, the healthiest people, yet we provided a fool and a sick-about-to-be-dead man as a president. |
some Otans I know, identify with Ijesha. Maybe they had some blood ties there I guess. and see this: for many of the taboos, they're only successful if you're aware of what they're supposed to do.
The article is partly true especially the latter part. I don't believe the part that Ijesha founded Osun river. No, I disagree. Igbajo may have looked up to IB in the past, they dare not do that now. All their local governments look up to Ilesha for help now. Hey y'all, I gotta go to bed. Catch y'all tomorrow. Peace! |
@Tpia, their loyalty is always to their very own -- that's why if ever you're successful at adopting one, maybe you found them on the street and made them yours, they'd still set you up and most times have you killed. I have seen three of such cases and heard many. Find out |
Otan is Ijesha, right? I think people from there like marrying each other. Maybe a generalization but one of my friends dated a guy from the same town as herself, which I thought would be rather boring? To each his own ![]() The barking thingy could be either rabies or psychological. That fear will keep people from eating dog meat or worshipping Ogun for sure.
Otan is not Ijesha. They are close to Ada, Iree etc. For the barking, there's no such thing as rabies or psychological belief. There's taboo "ewo" in yoruba land and it doesn't matter whatever it is, if you cross that line, even in your own disbelief, you will be dealt with -- that's yoruba land for you. It's just like going to "Esu" shrine and pour "adi" there and say nothing will happen. Don't underestimate the power of these deities and old time beliefs especially when there are proofs. |
C2H5OH:Amen to that
Ondo town eats dog meat and in other parts of the state, its the Ogun worshippers who eat dog during their festival. I had a couple of friends from there whose dads were friendly to all religions including Ogun. The Otan Aiyegbaju thing- that sounds like rabies. Maybe they had an outbreak before.
No, it wasn't an outbreak. The thing is about the river there, it doesn't permit them to eat dog meat. A proper Otan man will not, under the harshest conditions, eat dog meat. They end up barking. It is very very true. They boast of some of the baddest voodoo |
Ondo people eat dog meat; in fact their major meat. But in Otan Aiyegbaju, Osun state, you dare not drink water from a certain river there or you'll end up barking like a dog. It's not fallacious superstition or a superstitious fallacy but it's absolutely true. In that town, they don't eat dog meat and dog eaters are generally not welcome |
Ijesha people curse too much. "Sanpona la pa e" "Ogun la f'eje we" and the likes. And they still do curse ![]() |
Remii:Before Islam came into existence in Nigeria, Iwo are mighty in Juju and still are, even though they practice it in low key. Yes, they are muslims back there and that was why Fulanis were able to convince them to hit Gbongan in those days.
actually, I have no idea why Osogbo was chosen as the Osun headquarters, since it seems Osun is also worshipped in other places like Abeokuta,Ibadan, etc. Then again, one shouldnt get confused just because the state was named Osun. Is Osogbo an Ijesa town, or were they just the early settlers there?
Osun settled in Osogbo. The hunters then(the people she met there) would go to her for help. She offered them protection. That's why till today, Osogbo men aren't brave. Even though Osogbo is the capital of Osun state, I am yet to identify a figure from there that ever ruled the State. They are always running scared. |
how come the accents are different though. and why did they hate each other? osun and oyo i mean. ah what do u mean by easygoing? i don't think dat's true but we no look like fulani o. na 100% yoruba correct. lol
Osun and Oyo to the best of my knowledge don't hate each other. Only the Ifes hate the Oyos. The former believes the latter is supremacist. Basing on Remii "abimota" comment, I heard that before from a friend. Ijesha people too are into money rituals. They'd "kaka ki mi t'osi, omo mi a din'kan" meaning they had better lose a child to money ritual than live in poverty. They have a bad habit too, and that's armed robbery. |
FL Gators:Ekiti is "ilu oke".
Oyinda is from Iwo? some of them fine sha- looking like Fulani. but they have a reputation of being overly easygoing. Dont know how true that is however.
Iwo people are easy going but dem get juju sha.
ditto @ this Adenuga thingy: isnt "nuga" a name found only in Ogun state? Since when do Oyo/Osun people start bearing nuga as a suffix?
I guess that depends. Haven't you seen people have names with Omi- and Elu- as prefixes in other parts of Yoruba land? And these prefixes are peculiar to Ife. |
Yes for the state you're Osun. I remember when Ife were killing the Modakekes, it doesn't matter if you're from there or not but as long as you had an Oyo accent, you'll be killed. The popular statement then was "Oyo l'Oyo nje" means "Oyo is Oyo no matter what" and that's judging by the accent. |
@ seeker, this is my question o. plz answer
Ife never admitted to be Oyo but they were under the state. Ife hate Oyo with passion. Osun can't call themselves Oyo, but they speak Oyo-kind of yoruba and that's why they are called "ara ilu oke". Osun no longer regard themselves as Oyo, they are simply Osun now. So you're Osun-to-the-chore. ![]() |
wow interesting i still need u to answer my question though @ seeker. lol
What was your question again? Remii:Yes, I know Owu. Apomu is the next town after Ikire; they are interlocked. I think I've heard that story you told before, I just haven't verified it. But hearing it from you now, I can say it's authentic. |
Remii:Don't know about Mercy Johnson and yes, you're right about the mixtures in other states. Osun and Oyo are the only unadulterated states. Ondo even are mixed with some Edos. Moremi was a native of Offa, but she had moved out of there before the Fulanis hit. She saved the Ile-Ife captives from Ugba. Sacrificed her only son to the goddess just so the captives can be saved. |
Remii:Don't know about his father, I think his parents lived in Ogun state but he was born in Ibadan; His dad was a teacher and his mom, Yeyeoba of Ijebuland -- or so I heard; they had a sawmill business there. I learnt he also was a cab driver in the United States when he studied back here. But his mom, I know for sure, is from Gbongan. There's even a street in Gbongan named after the Adenuga Family. Wale and Michael Adenuga have a great relationship and are related. So if his dad's claiming Ogun State, then I'd start to wonder. Just like OBJ is originally from Owu but his father fled for whatever reason I can't tell except that it had something to do with monarch or so. |
haha never knew what LAUTECH stood for. didn't know it was an acronym. learn something new everyday i guess lol but that doesn't make any different now does it. lol they're both the best states IMO. i have a question though. wasn't osun formerly part of oyo? when was osun created (as a separate state)?
LAUTECH = Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Osun was created on August 27, 1991. |
