oyo and osun rule of course. the two best states in naija
Osun ran Oyo. You know, Osun and Oyo jointly created Ladoke Akintola University(LAUTECH)? The campus is located in Ogbomoso, the Teaching Hospital is located in Osogbo. Now, Osun is threatening to detach the hospital from the University. . . . . as big as Oyo is, compare the number of higher institutions of learning to Osun's? But surely, Oyo used to be the political headquarter of the South West. Now, politically, Osun has provided more leaders in PDP and AC.

seeker ur generalisations are awfully wrong at their best
fulanis DO NOT entertain their visitors with their wives its a tradition thats becoming dated of the tivs of benue state
I never said Fulanis are using their wives as entertainments. I don't "mu ofo".  Let's leave the rest for when we're on that date I promised you and I will tell you everything grin
the beating of the husband to be is simply to show strength
in the old days it used to be a major criteria now its just part of the ceremony like the giving of one's wife as entertainment to one's visitor of the tivs, its also becoming a dated culture

and lastly but definitely not the least, Fulani's ARE NOT hausa's and will pick a huge fight with u if u call them so
so also are Nupe's of Kogi not hausa

fulani's are a completely seperate tribe
their beliefs and cultures are widely different from that of the hausas

It just their culture simple and shikena, why do Yoruba tell the husband to leave the house before the wife is brought in, and Ibo girl carry drink in the public to identify her husband that everyone has know.  Fulani do not sleep with their sisters but are allowed to marry cousins, it is part of Arabic cum Islamic culture. It is Benue that they say the Tivs, entertain visitors with their wives and it is one one of the reasons people think make them have highest AIDS cases in the country.
Yes Benue state and some part of Bauchi state . . . . . I'm sure of that. And no, I disagree, Fulanis sleep with their sisters, they rear children that are born by brothers and sisters from the same parents. In Niger state, cousins marry each other --- I am sure of that too. Do you know if you adopt a Fulani kid, when they grow up they will sell you out to their kinsmen and hurt you? It's in their blood.

@TheeSeeker
Sorry to dissapoint you but I don't really know much about the Hausa culture, the only thing I know is that my mum is Hausa, even then, she was brought up in Lagos, now ask me something about the Yoruba's and I'd be able to answer a few questions (emphasis on the word few), sorry dear. I wasn't even brought up in Nigeria sef.
Excuse not accepted. Even if your mom was raised in Lagos that's no reason for her not to know her culture(some people are like that anyways). Now, what part of Yoruba are you from so I know where to throw my questions?
Culture › Re: Osun -- State Of The Living Spring! Identify Here by TheSeeker(op): 1:47am On Jul 27, 2009
OK here goes Ibkaye. Fulani, I want to believe are part of the Hausas. Why do they have to beat up suitors for their daughters just in the name of performing marriage rites? Why do fulanis sleep with their own family? Brother sleeping with sisters, etc.,? In a part of Bauchi state -- if I'm right-- a man uses his wife as a welcome package to entertain his friend. He lets his friend sleep with his wife as a form of welcoming him to his house -- a long time friend he's seen in a long time that. I need explanations to these please if you know. All of them are known facts to the best of my knowledge, I just want to know why they are done.

A mega party to do what? Outrun PDP? LOL cheesy cheesy I wish there was. There's no party in Nigeria right now that can stop them. As long as OBJ exists, IBB alive, PDP will continue to rule. Not wishing Yara'waste dies, but if he does, IBB is coming to replace him. Big time too!

Oyinda's right. If we have leaders like Fashy of Lagos, Nigeria will be great. Sadly, there's 1 out of 1 million like him.

Gosh, stubborness is often mistakn for determination you know.
The ones on NL are just too stubborn/ they love to fight, for Gosh sake. undecided
Maybe the ones you have met on here tend to fight, but in person, no I haven't met any. I have to tell you their bad side though; depending on what you see it as. They like to remain superior to everyone else and that's because they are Leo-like. They make sounding judgments, intuitive and are full of valor. They can make good leaders, but if some of them can be greedy -- don't always want to leave the leading position, e.g., OBJ. That quality though boils down to the fact that they have leading qualities and never want to back down for anyone else. They don't like to be beneath, they like to make it happen.

@ seeker, what do ppl mean when they say "ilu oke" what state is that in?
You know there's this Lagos accented Yoruba? Like calling "s" "sh" etc., people from "ilu oke" are those with typical Oyo accents which is widely common in most parts of Yoruba land. That term is also labelled on people from supposed villages in Osun, Oyo, Ekiti and Ondo states.

And Ogun men aren't stubborn -- they are prudent, hardworking, classic and very diplomatic. They always want to champion everything they do to be the best -- howbeit, if you know their code you can outclass them --- be sure to have a hot competition if you have to win because they don't and never give up

You say he's a bastard billionaire --- is that in Naira or Dollars? How do you know? 50 Cent or Jay Z, if their worth has to be converted to Naira, it's just a little over two billion naira -- so how is he a billionaire? --- Unless he's a billionaire in Ghanaian Cedis. That's lie number one.

I used to think being a model makes you more exposed, tell a lot of difference and especially know who's a player or not. This guy claims he loves you on his first sight on you, how sure are you about that? Or was that love at first sight? Hence, either you're not a model -- a paid prostitute -- or a foolish model. We all know how it goes with Nigerian artistes, models, actors and actresses --- it's always a free sex galore. People up in these category have sex with themselves without having to pay. Therefore, I classify your situation as entirely false. Lie number two.

Now, let's agree the first second lie was true, you initially rejected his advances, why? Later you agreed to be paid, why? He said he was going to have sex without a condom with you, you agreed and wanted to get paid by check for $30,000.00 upfront? How can you equate that to any kind of virus from unprotected sex? Oh I get it . . . . . . you'll be able to afford drugs if any happens to come to existence. Judging from the first lie that he's a billionaire, what makes you so sure he could afford to pay you $30,000.00 for just one night? Do you know what that means? Spitzer, the dethroned governor of New York, paid less than $9,000.00 to a prostitute he spent a night with; what made you so sure he was going to give you that, given your assertions are true?

You want to send your fabricated story to magazine companies in Nigeria and Benin Republic? Please ensure you add your picture along and don't put your contact information for people to verify the story nor give to the magazine companies. You're trying to generate publicity for yourself by blackmailing a guy who may have bleeped you free (I don't believe he did) just to get payment from him or have him date you. You're forgetting the fact that, even if he's married, he's at liberty to do whatever he wants and get away with it just as long as it has to do with sex; and if he's not involved with a minor. My reasoning is you're daydreaming and are looking for a way to have DBANJ contact you and probably date you. I know you'll have the effrontery to explain to him that you did that to get his attention, because you admired him sexually, bla bla bla. Your first post on NL and you're already a bitch speaks volume of how retarded you are.

Keep dreaming and let me tell you, he ain't no Michael Jackson who will settle out of court for some millions of dollars. Post the story and Wande Coal, K-Switch or De Prince will refute your claims. If you're so Hot for DBANJ, one of his drummers or bag-carriers will help try out your orifice. You're a disgrace to womanhood.

No, it was never transformed to Osun V. Ekiti. If you're referring to my comment on the earlier pages of this thread, it was just a light joke as I saw the both of you taking on each other. Osun people are very accommodating; I can inertly state that they are. On a discussion forum, there are bound to be differences and arguments, after all, isn't that what a forum is for? I don't have a problem with people arguing but I do when you can't resolve the arguments and come to a truce. Has anyone insulted Ekiti other than say they are stubborn?

How're you today sweetie?

bilqiss:
It works for some and for others, it just messes things up. It could make the guy see all ur great qualities and help him make up his mind that you're indeed wife material. On the other hand, it might make all the excitement fade. I don't advise any girl to practically move in, but if he is a decent fellow and you know where you stand with him, then you can afford to take the risk.
I disagree with that. If he wants to see the quality in her, it shouldn't be until she moves in with him. She could pay him a visit sometimes, spend as much as one week or more. Couple whatever he finds out from there with the way their relationship has been going, then he can determine whatever he wants to. A good woman is so easy to know. The secret is, the guy will be tired of the relationship, we all know how boring marriage itself could be sometimes let alone a "co-habitation" relationship. It's most likely going to crash.

Don't ever entertain the thought let alone executing it. When you get to live together, the feeling that you're is temporarily mutual. At the end of the day, he ends up being tired and leaves for another girl who he probably has been dating out there. He'll tell you stuffs like "if we live together we will have the chance to be together" and all, don't ever fall for that prank. Another thing in a relationship is keeping your dignity --- you could be freaky sometimes --- but not disrespect your womanly honor. Even when you visit, if you're in almost the same area, don't spend more than 2 weeks max.
Culture › Re: Osun -- State Of The Living Spring! Identify Here by TheSeeker(op): 4:49pm On Jul 26, 2009
I have to state emphatically that from history, apart from Ife and Modakeke communal clash, Osun is about the most peaceful state in South West Nigeria, politically and otherwise. We know how it goes in Oyo and Ogun. We know how many assassinations that are perpetrated in these places. Ife and Modakeke are the most stubborn part of Osun State.

That Osun river originates from Ekiti is an assumed fact. Tell me where the Pacific Ocean originated. If Osun river naturally originates from Ekiti -- which I don't dispute --- why is it then that the goddess is in Osogbo? Agreed that she's worshipped in Ekiti, why is it not as populous as Osun-Osogbo Festival?

Dayo, I have been to the Osun Osogbo Festival couple of times, what do you want to know? Ekiti is not antagonist to Osun State, not ever and not in anyway. They are the two states that share a very harmonious relationship. Do you know that the Osun State Governor was the rep of all South West Governors in the re-election activity in Ekiti State? Do you know that OAU has 80% of her professors from Ekiti State? And yes, Ekiti is the most educated in the South West region, howbeit, I can't say the most enlightened because enlightenment and education are no way the same.

As for Oyo being the political headquarters of the South West, that can be true owing to them being the first state to have a university in the South West, first television state courtesy of AWO, etc., howbeit, do not forget that Osun people ruled most of the time. Bola Ige was from Osun. His secretary then --- what's his name now? --- was from Modakeke. While he(secretary) was still with Bola Ige, the Modakekes needed a local government and they thought they could have it because their son was the State Secretary General under Ige. He told them it was going to take some time, but Modakekes being ungrateful, impatient and backstabbing as they are, didn't wait and thought he was probably playing them around. One day, Ige was on a visit to Modakeke with the secretary -- I will remember his name --- as he had finished his speech, they all advanced to their various cars.

The Modakekes accosted the secretary in his car. He sensed something tragic was about to happen, so he wanted to step out the car. They alerted themselves not to let him or he will disappear magically. They never let him down and the Modakekes, burnt him right inside his car ALIVE! Since that day, Ige said, ". . . . as long as I live, I will use my sprouted teeth to spite Modakeke and ensure they don't have a local government . . . . ". That was why Ige never would have supported Modakeke for a local government.
