I bring my solidarity greetings to you all in every part of the country where you may be and equally appeal to you all to remain calm and in absolute resolute towards ensuring our full-scale in exercising our civic right in the forthcoming general election, come 23rd February, 2019.

The postponement came as a rude shock and appeared wild to our belief, however we won't be withered as our interest is renewed, we know students remain the major active player during the cause of electioneering and one of the major determinants of who to occupy the seat of governance.

We will continue to maintain our highly rectitude and proper education of who to vote for and such an individual deserves our votes, without any influence from any angles.

Students are enjoined to march out enmass to vote, who our choices favours based on reasonable factors without contest of fact or arguments of reasoning.

*FOSSU* wishes to remind the STUDENTS CONSTITUENCY our continued efforts and coordinated agitation in ensuring students' interest of the state is not jettisoned, *recollect that, this administration has accused the Abiola Ajimobi led-APC regime of swindling thousands of students in the state for alleged collection of an on-line Bursary form which incurred the sum of One thousands two hundred naira (#1,200) per head from over fifty thousand Oyo state students since 2013.*

We have, on many occasions engaged government of the day on series of meetings, we've made several consultations and have caved in for consolidation as cases warranted.

Our effort has yielded better result from our ends as we've been maintaining our standard as an ever resilient students body , who would never at any point in time sell out the interest of entire students for peanuts, but government on it's own side has been playing over our intelligence, as they failed to honour the purposes and promises in any of the peaceful meetings held.

*Promises are not kept, government words are all with no iota of sincerity.*

*FOSSU NATIONAL* as ever-indefatigable students body has been running series of background assignments towards ensuring our collective interest is protected, and by the time we dish them out, it may appear not palatable!

Hence, government are advised in their interest to call for a decisive measure at which the long overdue impasse over the payment of students bursary could see the end.

Days left before the general election is enough for meaningful and positivity, if government are to be sincere and not undermining the influence of student's movement over the faith of national election. We'll again march out against the reign of government that lacks sincerity, when nothing is done after Presidential and national assemblies election.

Our choice of words are not out of play and gimmick, as we're ready to see to the end of
government that render student's constituency irrelevant.

*Election Postponement: A National Disgrace: Bisi Ilaka*

The Oyo Central Senatorial Candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka has described the INEC postponement of the Presidential and National Assembly Elections as a national disgrace, and a reflection of gross incompetence on the part of INEC.



The senatorial candidate made this remarks through his Director General, Bisi Ilaka campaign Organization, Alhaji Bola Akinyemi speaking further he noted that” The postponement was part of a grand design by the All Progressives Congress to thwart the will of Nigerians at all cost”.



He stress that, it’s disheartening that INEC and it’s officials had four years to prepare for an election, that is free, fair and credible but decided to show nothing for it like the current administration.



He however, urged electorates in Oyo Central senatorial to remain calm as a result of the rescheduled elections which has been shifted to 23rd of February, 2019.



Furthermore he noted that “Investigation has revealed that the initial plan of the independent national electoral commission (INEC) was to proceed with the Presidential and National Assembly elections in some States as earlier planned while holding those of the remaining states in a subsequent date. it’s ridiculous that the strategy was to ensure election hold in 26 states, observe the outcome and if opposition is leading in those state, then security agencies will be used to cover up for the incumbent administration.”

The PDP Campaign train in Egbeda LG of Oyo State received a major boost as Senator Ademola Adeleke joined up to support Engr. Seyi Makinde, Chief Oyebisi Ilaka and other candidates.

GUNMEN ATTACK PDP CAMPAIGN TRAIN IN OYO

Suspected hoodlums belonging to opposition party around 7:15pm on Thursday attacked the PDP governorship candidate in Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde and PDP Oyo Central Senatorial District candidate, Chief Oyebisi Ilaka at Ojoo Round About, Akinyele Local Government, Ibadan, during the Local Government campaign tours.

Westerndailynews political correspondent who is at the scene gathered that, the PDP candidates and chieftains are just leaving the campaign stage to join convoy when they came under ferocious attack, launched by the opposition hoodlums. Gun shots from different destinations rented the air throughout the 20 mins of deadly displays by the attackers.


Rear windscreen of buses conveying some party members was shattered, as occupants of the buses sustained various injuries as the drivers fear of unknown causes uncontrollable driving. Passersby, Road Hawkers and Motorists are also victims of the unexpected political mayhem.

The hoodlums continued to advance towards the convoy of Engr Seyi Makinde for further attacks until his Toyota Jeep Cruiser drove to thin air. It was observed that, the second target, Oyo Central Senatorial candidate, Chief Bisi Ilaka Lexus Jeep managed to drive out of the hot spot and headed to Ibadan/Oyo express way as a the route seems only to be the last option to drive through.

Prior to the night attack, Seyi Makinde with Oyo Central Senatorial hopeful, Bisi Ilaka and other PDP chieftains has already had successful communities campaigns within the local government, places like : Ojoo Onirin, Akinyele – Kaara, Moniya Market and Moniya Central Mosque were visited, also the PDP candidates received blessings and endorsement during their meetings with Traditional Worshipers and Akinyele Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

As at the time of filing this report, the source of the perpetrators of the attack is yet to be known, as rumours are ongoing that, a chairman of LCDA in Akinyele sponsored the attack.

As the journey of Village tour took us to some villages of Oyo West Local Government last week.

The villagers in IDI IYALODE, OJUTAYE, LAAGBE, ABA ARUNA & ABA ILORIN of Ward 5, eulogized the former Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, for the development and opportunity they enjoyed during his tenure, and up till today, they have not tasted any dividend of Democracy in the last 8 years of this hostile administration.

At the same time, the IGEDE Community who claimed that, they have the directive of David Mark and Governor Ortom to give 100% support to all PDP candidates.

They finally assured Chief Luqman Ilaka and other candidates of the PDP to look forward for their votes in all the elections, because, PDP is a massive friendly party and they benefited a lot from them in the past, in terms of grading of roads, supply of fertilizer and provision of water which is their major priority.

The Chairman, Bisi Ilaka Campaign Organization, Oyo Federal Constituency, Hon Sakiru Ojo, who represented Chief Ilaka reiterated the commitment of Chief Bisi Ilaka to the welfare of the villagers and stressed that, what they have enjoyed in the past, would be a tip of an Icebag in his administration by HIS grace.

The Chairman of PDP in Oyo West Local Government, Prince Akeem OLUKITIBI and Prince Bayo Adeyemi also appreciated the support of the villagers.

*POLITICS OF DISCORD:* *A STOCK IN TRADE OF CHIEF BAYO ADELABU'S MEDIA TEAM*

My attention has just been drawn to a press release by an Ex-UI member of Federation of Ibadan Students' Union (FIBSU) who doubles as the spokes person for the student arm of Chief Bayo Adelabu students' media team in which the said unscrupulous individual put to disrepute the exalted office of the President, *Federation of Oyo State Students' Union* ( FOSSU ) NATIONAL COUNCIL by tagging the President of the Union My Self, Comr. AZEEZ SHARAFUDEEN *PA-BIAFRA* as a Driver to a campaign vehicle of a political party in the state. This is not only degrading for our noble union but also a ridicule of the exalted office of the number one student of Oyo State.

It would be recalled that earlier in the week, news was reported of a parley between the Candidate of APC in the forthcoming elections Chief Bayo Adelabu and the generality of students from Oyo state, in the news circulated in which it was reported that Chief Bayo Adelabu admonished students across Oyo state owned tertiary institutions to brace up for the realities of increments in tuition fees as recently experienced in LAUTECH using N980 million naira tuition of TechU Ibadan as a basis for comparison, the news reported Chief Adelabu to has stated that tertiary institutions in Oyo state must be self funding.

Immediately the news of the meeting was brought to my notice, I contacted my members of Executive and Presidents of Indigenous students' associations under my leadership who all denied knowledge of any meeting of Oyo state students with Chief Adelabu. It was then concluded that whoever attended such purported meeting did so in his own name but not in the name of *Federation of Oyo state students' Union (fossu) national council*. I took it further by putting a call through to the SA to Governor Ajimobi on Students and Youths who I was informed led the purported students to Chief Adelabu but she has not responded to my calls till date.

Concerned by the damage the purported meeting could do to the image of our noble union, I went to media to intimate the public that those that went to meet Chief Adelabu are not known as students in any of the tertiary institutions in the country and beyond and does not have anything to do with the umbrella body of all indegenious students of the state but lmpersonators taking advantage of political atmosphere to defraud politicians, I thereby call the attention of Chief Adelabu and indeed other politicians to be weary of unscrupulous elements parading themselves as Students of Oyo state origin to defraud unsuspecting politicians as myself, my members of Executives and that of other indigenous student associations in Oyo state will never attend any of such meeting where money will be shared in exchange for our future .

We will rather prevail on any politician that is interested in the progress of Oyo state students to see to the demands of workers in Oyo state owned Higher institutions that are owed several months of salary arrears, decadence in the physical structure, lack of bursary payments even after the sales of an online bursary form to students at the rate of 1200 per student since 2013 and rots in the educational sector of Oyo state rather than share money with students that are made to perpetually roam the streets consequent upon continued strike action by ASUU and workers of Oyo state tertiary institutions due to negligence of the government.

To my utmost dismay and that of my Executive members, a member of Chief Bayo Adelabu media team came up with a malicious claim that I am a Driver to a campaign vehicle of a political party in the state, this is not only a ridicule of the office i occupy but an attempt to drag Oyo state formost student body into dirty politics as played by their camp. May I state unequivocally that the only bus I drive to run the activities of my office is the one donated to the Union by *distinguished Senator Fatai Buhari* of Oyo North senatorial district and I have never been seen with any bus belonging to any political party.

May I further state that intelligence report within my disposal has it that Chief Adelabu has mobilized his errand boys with resources to get me impeached from Office and install a candidate that will be loyal to him to replace me.
This is not only petty for the office he is vying to occupy but would cause discord and public disobedience in our union that has always been decorous, peaceful and focused on the welfare of the generality of Oyo state students.

While I wish to covet the generality of students of Oyo state origin to remain law abiding and exercise their civic right without being bought with moneybags in politics.
May I also call on the security apparatus in the state to pay rapt attention to my safety and that of my members of Executive as people impersonating themselves as students arm of Chief Bayo Adelabu campaign arm who are actually not students in any tertiary institution are all over the place promising fire and brimstone and have been sponsored by their Principal to wreck havoc within our union.

*Senate 2019: Ilaka takes campaign train to Akobo, Eniosa, Aba-Odo in Olodo, meets religious leaders.*

The candidate of Peoples' Democratic Party, Oyo Central senatorial district, Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka, was on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Tella Town Hall in Akobo, Lagelu local govt of Oyo state to meet with leaders and residents of the community to seek support to represent the district in the 2019 elections.

Chief Ilaka, after listening to varying but similar challenges, assured residents of his willingness to serve, saying "I am here to serve, you're sending me on an errand and I have no choice but to deliver knowing fully well that if we do not better the lots of constituents, we will be kicked out".

The senatorial candidate also visited Olorunda-Abaa, Eniosa where he paid homage to the Baale, Chief Adetona Olagoke Eniosa. Chief Ilaka was evidently moved by the plea of the residents especially after hearing the lamentations of the women. He assured them of proper representation.

"I need no other motivation of the need for first class representation than to go out in the morning and look around to see a lot of wrongs in the society that begs righting through good leadership".

Also, Chief Adeagbo Oluniyi Agbeloba, a leader in the community brought out his PVC and enjoined all to vote for Chief Bisi Ilaka and other PDP candidates including Abass Aleshinloye who is a son of the community.

The Oyo High Chief met with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Lagelu district, where he preached religious tolerance and told of the need to use religion as an agent of social reforms. "Politicians are a discredited bunch in society and rightly so. I will not make promises that I cannot keep, I will make myself available" he assured.

He described the situation of Nigeria as being a country with talents and potentials without the right leadership to alleviate the sufferings of her people. "Our situation is like one who has all the fresh ingredients to make a good meal but lacking in the right cook/individual to make one.

Residents of Aba-Odo in Olodo, Egbeda local government could not hold back their joy and happiness at seeing a Senatorial candidate meet and sit with them. The gathering was chaired by the Chief Imam, Sheikh Im an Hazim who expressed joy at seeing Chief Ilaka and his team and enjoined voters to vote massively for him and other candidates of the PDP

The PDP Senatorial Candidate for Oyo Central Senatorial district in the forthcoming elections, Chief Oyebisi Ilaka, was at Wakajaye and Adegbayi Community in Egbeda Local Govt Area of Oyo state on Monday, January 21,2019 to solicit support in the coming Elections.

Chief Ilaka was joyously received by all - a larger portion of the gathering being youths, who welcomed his candidature and described him as a man with a good heart.

Residents of the community lamented and complained bitterly of the lack of infrastructure and proper representation. While addressing the crowd, Chief Ilaka explained that he understood the challenges of constituents and will have zonal offices with competent personnel to ensure that the needs of his constituents are attended to. He also assured them of a listening ear and quality representation.

In his response, Chief Ayo Alabi, a leader of the community endorsed Chief Ilaka amidst cheers from the crowd.
