Stevechoko45:He hen, so who was terrorising Aside Del horno against Chelsea in the 05/06 quarter final so much to the extent that Del horno got a red card at Stamford bridge?? Pls eat up your own trash. |
Babaalajo:Messi scored two goals in the 2011 UCL semifinal against CR7 in R Madrid including a spectacular solo effort. Ronaldo has never won an international player of the tournament i.e golden ball meaning he was being carried by teammates. You know what? Messi has won at least two of that (Wcup and Copa america). 6 ballon d'ors is greater than 5. Remember that. |
Ryocaj:I stand by my argument, so because Sheffield Utd is in the top seven of the EPL table does that take away the fact that they are a bottom tier team? Like Sheffield like Cagliari. So u see, the joke is on you bro. |
babakb:Messi also won the title in 2006, so what's the point? I did not lie, my reference was to the 3 UCL titles YOU mentioned. In the 2008 title run you mentioned, Messi bossed the Man utd team home and away such that Fergie was on his toes fidgeting while Messi ran rings around the Utd defence. CR7 was a nonentity in that tie and contrived to miss a penalty for man utd who had Paul Scholes to thank for his wonderful effort. So while Man utd won the tie due to their resolute defending, Messi's display was much better than CR7's by a mile. You are even avoiding my main argument, which is that in the three times Messi has faced CR7 directly in the UCL, he made CR7 look average. Is that not the best pointer for assessing who's better? |
babakb:Really? We can shake this table together. Where was CR7 when Messi led Barca to UCL titles in 2008, 2011 and 2015? Unlike CR7's route to those UCL titles where he avoided Messi, Messi faced, scored and dispatched CR7's team twice on the way to winning two of those titles. So you know who is really the boss. You talk as if the UCL started in 2014. No sir. |
Which war? That FAKE quote looks like something cooked up by Cristiano's fans rather than Simeone. I'm sure Simeone never said that after the Supercopa match. Even on twitter, it was labelled as fake as it was only @360 sources that published the quote. Major sport tabloids should have reported it as well if it was true. Simeone that publicly stated that he believes Messi was more dangerous than Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema combined? Find another lie please. It can only be CR7 fans that can say he is now better than Messi using irrational logic. Just imagine, because he scored a mundane hattrick (2 tap -ins and penalty) against CAGLIARI, a relegation team, he is now better than Messi who was the best player on the pitch against Atletico madrid (scored two beautiful goals, dribbled the ATM players at will) for those that actually watched the match. How Can ![]() ??Where was CR7 in the war against Ajax last season, Barcelona over several seasons in La liga, Uruguay at World cup, even Lazio this season? Honestly, it's laughable the way CR7 fans like to turn logic on its head and delude themselves, or consolation is it? 6 will always be greater than 5. |
What a Coincidence! An act of terror can't be ruled out judging by witness reports that the plane had already caught fire before crash-landing and exploding on impact. |
pocohantas:I'm rather surprised. Is this really you?? I had expected the usual vitriolic response from you before I read your surprisingly moderated comment. |
dfrost:Lol, you mean the Sufayos? Vietnamese soldiers that never finish even as they are being decimated by the thousands! |
dcrested:Lol, this one is a Messtiano ! By the way, I hear Air Ronaldo has crashed down to earth in stunning fashion. The culprit? Severe turbulence nicknamed Hurricane Lazio! |
femi4:Lol, do you remember this song by kollington in tribute to the popularity of the characters you mentioned those days: Mr dehinde, Mr dehinde, o ti le Sheka ju (2ce), O gbodo pa thompson o, |
royalamour:Please confirm this assertion with evidence! I was also worried it could be a different picture. Thanks |
A lot of really horror movies have been mentioned so I will not repeat them. My own additions are: 1) Puppet master 2) Basket case - where some amoeba like creatures in baskets killing people 3) Omen (the original version i.e 1985 or so) 4) Fright Night |
Jose mourinho again? Anyways he has been desperate to return to a coaching job these days. Unfortunately, I fail to see how this will refurbish Jose's once infallible reputation. He will likely descend into mediocrity with this kind of appointments, except he can pull off a Leicester city which I doubt. The bright side is that he's back into direct opposition against Arsenal and it will be interesting to see the old battles rekindled. Only thing is that, by the time Mourinho faces Arsenal, it will likely be a different coach from Unai Emery he'd tussle with. |
boninho:Okay, thanks for the insight. Let's shake this table together. Going by your logic, Miroslav Klose is way better than CR7 based on international performances. After all, he has never gone to a World Cup without winning a medal. He was 3rd twice, 1st and 2nd once. Highest goal scorer in WC history. These are strongest international statistics relevant for a player not the mediocre records you are quoting above. The Ali Daei of Iran that has held the record of most international goals since forever, is not even ranked among the top 200 best players in history. So of what value are those statistics you are reeling out? Does the above make Klose a better overall player than CR7? I don't think so. Therein lies your answer. |
I predicted this last weekend. What he could not do against AC Milan, the poor Lithuanian farmers and plumbers will suffer for it. Luxembourg is next by weekend. Flat track bully Ronaldo. You think being the GOAT is by racking up goals against Lithuania, Luxembourg, Andorra, Estonia and other sheep herding rural countries? When Messi has already scored a hat trick against almighty Brazil? And it's so obvious Nairaland Mods are so pro-CR7. They quickly push news when he scores even if it's one goal to the front page while Messi news can take two days before it gets to frontpage. No matter what PR you guys do, it will not change the fact that CR7 will always be beneath the sole of Messi's feet football wise. True football peeps will never argue this. |
SolarRen:Lol, U mean to increase it for the Greatest Opportunist of All Time? Sure thing bro. I hear he loves bullying hapless farmers, plumbers, Uber drivers and bricklayers who by sheer chance found themselves plying their trade on a football pitch! |
Luckily for him, he has Lithuania and Luxembourg farmers to console himself with next week. Also, he can continue to make more headlines on Nairaland on how he earns 100million dollars on YouTube, how his hair dresser bought a 40million pound mansion, his private jets, yatches, his rape case and other inconsequential off-field activities while the Lion GOAT continues to amass more Ballon d'ors and other football awards. ![]() |

NairalandSARS:U are a very daft person and this is a matter of fact not personal opinion. How were the facts I quoted about Messi different from the ones you stated? Big comprehension problems u have. I never said Messi scored 2 fks in a single match against RM, but that he scored twice against them during the 2012/2013 season. I was trying to correct the falsehood spewed by one of your co-ignoramuses and u were not even smart enough to deduce this. Messi does not need to be as prolific as Juninho in F.Ks. He is already excellent at it and that's what matters. Who knows he may even usurp Juninho by the end of his career. One thing that is clear is that he's better than CR7 at F.Ks and will surpass him statistically this season. I know you'd want to jump mindlessly into a response, but it will do you well to take a step back and ruminate about why you are pained because of Messi's successes because you are gonna be in so very much pain as more Messi milestones are on the way. |
Jokerman:Are you really this ignorant or you are just deliberately joking? Messi already scored 2 free kicks in a single match against Sevilla in the UEFA super cup final and against Espanyol last season. Yesterday makes it the third time. And I know you are pained, cos he's gonna even do it again. And Messi has scored f. K against Madrid twice both in 2012/2013 season. Please stop reinforcing the online perception that CR7 fans are a pretty ignorant bunch about football matters. |
tosyne2much:Same class bawo? How can? I understand the guy u are quoting's point of view. The truth is that part of Ibra's legendary persona has a bit of hype in it. People find his personality fascinating or inspiring and like to overblow his footballing achievements. I also like Ibra, but he is no way near Messi and CR7's level. His Achilles heel is that he doesn't show up in most big games. He hasn't won any player of the tournament or league in the competitions that matter most, UCL, LA Liga, EPL. No UCL trophy. That's why players like Raul, Henry, Kaka, Shevy, even Samuel Eto'o are considered greater legends than he is. He scores spectacular goals, probably more than any other player ever, but at what level? |
Timtellect:Lol, those are beggars on the Alfred Rewane road observing the situation |
deekseen:Please what did he say before? |
sonnie10:Not really. The principal causes of accidents on Otedola bridge are two: 1. The bridge itself is a valley with relatively steep slopes. This causes problems for tankers loaded with petroleum products many of which have bad brakes, thereby causing them to lose control often. 2. The surface of the road on the bridge inwards berger has been warped/distorted due to heat from previous fire incidences. This gives the feeling of the road wanting to wrest control from drivers when driving on this portion of the road. An inexperienced driver at high speed may veer off that bridge due to this. |
Iretii0511:Your assertion is completely false. Pele's highest total number of goals in a year is 75 in 1958 and this is a well documented fact all over the internet. In 2012 when Messi surpassed Pele's 75goal mark, he was commended by Pele, evidencing Pele's acknowledgement himself of that fact. I do not understand why you are trying to twist facts with the link you provided which does not even support your statement. Even your explanation above is not straightforward which should not be for something so widely documented. It reeks of shenanigans as it's like supporting Pele's 3 world cup wins by saying "you know, he won 2 by 1962, by 1974 he had won a total of four cups and one was disqualified during this interval making his total WCs three" How does that sound? That's how exactly you sound. |
NORSYK:So you don't know that Messi scored 73 club goals in the 2011/2012 season and 91 goals only in 2012 calendar year. That's the all time record. Could Ronaldo beat that? We both know that's never happening! |
