U have any idea of VVD stats??. Name 1 game u can remember Messi for last season and why? For VVD it was UCL final, cos he was solid and organized the defence. For Ronaldo it was against atletico madrid in the UCL quarter finals
Is this a JOKEhuh?? It appears that most CR7 fans here have a really really poor knowledge of football concepts and facts both currently and in the recent past.

One notable match Messi had last seasonhuh?? Yet he scored 51 GOALS, including against the following -

UCL QF Manchester united - 2 goals and 1 goal involvement
UCL SR Lyon - 2 goals and 2 assists
UCL SF Liverpool - 2 goals including a UEFA goal of the season Free kick
UCL Tottenham - 2 goals with 2 goal involvements
La Liga Real Betis - Hat trick where he scored the Puska award nominated goal
La Liga Sevilla - Brilliant Hat trick again also with goal of the season contenders
La liga Valencia - brilliant brace

And many other matches. As a matter of fact, the GOAT had the most man of the match awards last season across all European competitions. If that is not notable, then I don't know what else is. Most viewers even agree that the UCL Final was more of Allison Becker's show than VVD's. In my informed opinion, VVD's outstanding game in UCL last season was against Bayern Munich. He was just good against Porto, average against Barca and good in the UCL final. For once, I agree with you that CR7 had only one notable game against ATM last season.

I know you want to jump into a response, but it will be of mental benefit to you to take your time to digest what I said and think well before replying.

The only think I care about is the D’or,all this ones are a waste of time.
The FIFA world best is rated higher than the Ballon D'Or because it is awarded by the apex footballing body. Over the past two decades players like Michael Owen and Nedved have won the Ballon d'or and were not even regarded as the best players on their continent then, when you had the likes of Figo, Ronaldo da lima and Zidane who won the FIFA world best at the same time.

So, in all as you can see, it's only a waste of time to you because Messi won. And I hope you will spend the quality time to watch another player, apart from CR7, lift the D'or come January grin.

Oga every person with a football understanding knows that Messi is naturally the best player in the world. He doesn't need awards to validate this. That's why he has been the best footballer for the past 12years.

Messi has finally delivered once more. The greatest player the world has ever seen. This is the greatest award a footballer can win, rated even better than ballon d'or.

And for those saying VVD was robbed, they need to have a rethink. VVD was mainly riding on the coattails of others to glory, while others were riding the GOAT to success instead. So tell me who was better. It's as clear as the living daylight.
Let VVD be as good as John Terry, Cannavaro, Nesta, and Vidic first before talking about smelling Messi.

Despite all the anti-Messi campaign on nairaland, he still shamed haters lol

I don't want to believe that you really believe what you put up there. You do not know that FIfa best is the same as FIFA world footballer of the year which Messi has been winning all the times he won ballon d'or. How can you say Messi won only one FIFA best award when he has won SIX! Bad belle no good o

From N145 to N144 is now ‘Crashes’ huh
These people are fond of celebrating mediocrity.
Please, Bismarck Rewane is a foremost financial expert in Nigeria and should be left out of any propaganda you feel the report is trying to achieve.

You need to be able to differentiate between a person's actual statement and how it was reported in the news. Rewane did not use the term "Crash" in his speech. What he said was that petroleum price is now NGN144 per litre. It was the reportage that used the term "crash" and also decided on using the reduction in oil price as the headline because Bismarck said so many other things.

And please, it will also be of benefit for you to understand the economic interplay that Bismarck was trying to enlighten people about instead of burying your head in political propaganda.

Cheers.

King of the match is like "Man of the Men of the Matches" of matchday one of the EPL. i think he deserves it. Sterling's goals were a bit too easy judging by the supporting cast. Also, Chelsea is a more high profile opponent than Westham.

1. I think IK is a relatively broke actor. He does not command the cashflow needed to maintain this type of trophy woman and the lavish family lifestyle she requires. Your handsomeness and rakishness can only take you so far in marriage. You need beyond that to make it work.
2. Guy had a streak of irresponsibility in him. Obviously he was not fully available to her.
Sports › Re: BREAKING: Messi Banned From Playing For Argentina For 3 Months And Fined $50k by ThierryJay: 5:38am On Aug 03, 2019
This is not a real ban in substance. It's more like a much needed break from Argentina duties that Messi needs. He's just missing three friendlies. Means he gets to get a rest during club duties when others are busy on international assignments.

And, the 50,000 dollars fine is probably just 2 hours income for him.

It's clear. The GOAT is the winner here. This also shows that he wields much more clout that a lot of people give him credit for.

Why wouldn't the Premier League's greatest ever player make the list? Someone that it had to take a Zidane and a Ronaldinho to deny the World best player title on separate occasions. From 2003 - 2005, Thierry henry was the best striker in the world. The experts that placed Titi high in the list know what they are doing bro.
Sports › Re: The Top 10 Greatest Football Players Of The Last 25 Years by ThierryJay: 12:41pm On Jul 31, 2019
Fair enough list. I never knew CR7 fans were this ignorant, lambasting the OP as if it was a personal list, without knowing that the list was from one of the foremost sports magazine in the world. The simple truth is that Messi is a greater player than CR7 anytime anyday. Being a bit luckier to win certain trophies as part of a team effort does not invalidate the fact that Messi's individual efforts over the years trumps that of CR7. Pained CR7 fans are blind to this fact.

In fact, I believe Ronaldo da lima should almost be at par with Messi given his truly magical abilities, while Cristiano drops to third at least for the sheer consistency of his goalscoring exploits over the years.
Crime › Re: Gbemisola Alabi: Lady Kidnapped In Ajah While Jogging (Photos) by ThierryJay: 7:53pm On Jul 29, 2019
Jakumo:
While I recover here in the emergency room from all the vigorous flogging I have experienced at the hands of esteemed Nairaland contributors today, let me just add that it is highly unusual for a jobless and hungry person to be spotted jogging in Nigeria. Matter of fact, the sight of poor people suddenly breaking into a run on the streets of any African metropolis, is a reliable early-warning signal that something violent is in progress nearby, which may require some urgent and spirited scampering "for dear life" to safety.

Conversely, the odds are very high that well over half of all the daily joggers who take to Nigerian roads, particularly in known WEALTHY enclaves, are likely to be moderately to very wealthy, or at least living well on a comfortable income that makes doctor's visits for health and exercise advice, affordable.

A topic search of the Nairaland archives, on the subject of joggers who fell victim to crime, makes for a sobering read. Many joggers have been injured during muggings, some have been killed, and a few, never seen again. The truth is that women are at particular risk in much of Africa and Asia, if they engage in jogging along public roads, because they are not as well protected by the police, as is the case in Western societies where morning jogs are a daily routine for large numbers of people from all walks of life.

The risk to the jogger multiplies, when they conspicuously carry along expensive phones, and wear ear-plugs that render them partially deaf. By going out on the street to jog, Nigeria's vanishing middle class comes face-to-face with her starving majority, out of pure choice on the part of the jogger.

Pushing one's luck in this context may be an acceptable risk for a hardened Gong-Fu practitioner or an armed off-duty military man, but for anyone less street-qualified who opts to go jogging, my advice would be that you wait until you are in the UK, to enjoy that luxury in the relative safety of Hyde Park, a world away from Lagos, Nigeria

Anyone seeking to improve their health can do so with ZERO equipment at home, by running in place on a sandy surface or foam mattress, followed by Yoga and other strength exercises. Medically, jogging on hard surfaces inflicts long-term damage to the joints of the knee and ankles, thus negating much of the purported health benefits of jogging on city streets.
Your maturity is quite commendable. I admire the way you non-chalantly and humorously handled the barrage of criticism that came your way, without lashing out at anyone. Pls keep up this attitude bro.

I also understand your point of view in the context it was made. Because that is the most likely perception one would have of someone jogging along Lekki-Ikoyi axis. Yes, there might be a small section of joggers who do not fit into this category of well-to-do joggers, however, its is fact that majority of joggers within this environ are predominantly middle-class. Hence, I really do not understand the basis of the acidic attacks directed at you by Nairalanders.

By the way, I also enjoyed your vivid narratives.

Family › Re: Dad Catches 12-Year-Old Daughter Having Sex, Beats Her Mercilessly by ThierryJay: 8:13am On Jul 18, 2019
chalantmike:
I am assuming your sisters did not have pepper thrown into their private part ? And I hope you don't plan on doing the same thing to your daughters?.

Teaching a girl that sexual urges is part of life and her sexuality is valid as much as those of a boys, doesn't make her less of a mother material or home maker, it makes her even more.
African parents, hell most parents are not equipped to handle this things, a mother that feels shame over talking about about her sexuality, how is she going to educate her own girl child ?, Or do you prefer one uncle somewhere do it for you ?.
Children are like blank slates , curious enough, eager to be filled with life impressions, it is usually a first come, first serve thing. Meaning the first person to create an impression on her, probably would have a stronghold on her. Imagine a neighbor, sexually abusing your child, and convincing her that, she will be punished if she tells anyone, and rewarding her, for using her body.

All those girls you are seeing and complaining of, this is how they are made, someone taking advantage of their naivety and teaching them that they can be rewarded for using there bodies. Not the parental upbringing, they don't, can't talk to their parents about this, if they could do you think their parents would tell them to sell their body, just because they are sexually exposed.
Someone, somewhere created a bad impression on them, because their parents couldn't. Parents usually avoid the sex talk, or matters surmounting around this things, cause they're uncomfortable.

There are other equally valids paths and goals, your sisters could have choosen, instead of been a home maker, doctor etc. You should be able to be equally proud of them and tell them it is okay, if they decided not to have a family, or to be a musician.
A womans purpose of existence is not just to be a baby factory.

Also, bring your boys up to become fathers, oga. The same way you are hell bent on making your daughters by force wife, so that someone can marry them, if not they don't have value.

If boys were brought up to become fathers, good fathers, they would not be going around the place looking for naive girls, messing up peoples children. I am sure you know how sexual impulsive boys can be, but trust me a man that is comfortable with his body, urges and feelings doesn't react anyhow. All this boys around, can't host/exercise their feeling properly,
not to talk of in a healthy way, duo to poor sexual education.

Emotional maturity is a thing most men don't have, how many times do fathers tell their son's that they would reach a certain age where the urges would start and be difficult to control, did your own parents tell you that ?, What do you want a 15/16 yrs old boy, suddenly experiencing alien things with his body, to do ?. Then that same boy by chance realizes sexs quails it down, temporarily. Because he was not guilded, he did not know that his father underwent such phases, and did some things he probably regrets.

parents spend too much time hidding their flaws from their children, meanwhile that same child would probably experience the same flaws, but because you have withheld that information, that they could learn from to make a right decision, they probably would make the wrong one, probably the same mistake you as the parent made

You do know that high libido, can be genetic, right ?.

it is the way things are being done, doesn't make it the right way. Change is constant, move with the times and match it with intelligence and understanding. They might have an IQ better than yours at that age, but you've got better understanding and experience
You are missing the point and that guy u re quoting is more on point.

It's not like the analysis you've been putting up is not logical, but there is no practical balance to your views. It's too pedantic and has failed to put the context of this particular story into consideration.

You have made so many non factual assumptions about why the girls dad beat her. First of all, the father was totally in order to beat the girl for the wrongdoing. Nothing stops him from having a heart to heart talk with her later on as you re suggesting. But there's a reason for having a reward and punishment mechanism. If the girl was rewarded for good behaviour, I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem.

Usually a child's mind is incapable of fully understanding the implications of certain actions they engage in. So they typically are not able to commit to resolutions in same manner as an adult. So if you re all talk and no action when bad behavior ensues, the child's mind may process it as a mildly acceptable situation. And there will be repeats.

Same would apply if it was a boy, so don't make this a gender issue. It is the righteous indignation of having your child already tasting the forbidden fruit that likely drove the father.

However, corporal punishment should be within acceptable limits.
