HBB1:Gastellum and Rob may have caught Izzy a few times, but if you know Izzy's style, you'd know that he doesn't mind taking a few punches cos that's what gives him the opening for his counter strikes as seen in Rob's case. He has the ability to absorb strikes without losing much balance. Jones may be an animal, the Stylebender is also a Beast. |
Yeah, he said something like "Kini, Ma gba o lenu" (What is it, I will clear out your mouth) |
HBB1:Whittaker also had a wrestling background, his grappling skills were supposedly better than Izzy's. He was supposedly a tougher beast. But Izzy has put all these postulations to the dustbin. One thing I know is that Izzy appears to be motivated more to overcome his supposed shortcomings as evidenced in his matches against Gastellum and Rob. The guy's winning mentality is second to none. If he really sees Jon Jon as a challenge, I bet you in a few years, he'll Bleep JJ up. And your reference to Izzy's match against Anderson is not entirely correct. It was obvious Izzy was showing Anderson, his mentor, a lot of respect. He was actually toying with Silva most of the match. |
AYA BI EKUN! Wow, just woow. IZZY has finally done it! The whole of the pundits were against him for this match, saying he was just Hype, Whittaker was a monster, a former WWE who packed a lot of weight in his punches, whose throw down techniques was gonna be a problem for Izzy, whose bla bla bla bla...... U know what, the last style bender just shut all of em up. Haters gonna look for the next imaginary monster fighter to run their mouths up again against Izzy, but even if he eventually gets defeated, he has already made his mark, all within just a little more than a year. Respect to the King of the Octagon! |
How come Arsenal let this Gnabry guy leave? 4 goals in a single match ![]() |
franchasng:@franchasng, I'm pleasantly surprised by your recent quotes. It's refreshing to see you champion a non-tribalistic view of issues. Please keep the new-found sense of objectivity up. All tribes have their crimes. It's the responsibility of each tribe to educate on and discourage the propensity to commit crimes. I see you are doing yours. It does not mean others are free. |
Ugosample:My comments refer to infidelity by both genders. The 70% estimate includes both genders. For a cheating wife, the same extenuating circumstances I previously highlighted will determine the husband's next line of action. It all depends on whether the husband is willing to reconcile having considered all factors that matter to him in marriage. Personally I see no reason why a husband should not retain his wife who committed adultery due to unplanned circumstances and who shows genuine remorse or her actions. I have seen live cases where the wife cheated and both parties reconciled. Although the ego to let go is stronger in men especially in Nigeria, it does not necessarily indicate that divorce will always be the case. I understand the recent wave of trying to look at things always from a balanced gender perspective to counter the supposed male patriarchy, but situating all marital issues within that construct without giving due consideration to natural human contexts may itself may lead to the same erroneous judgements that the patriarchal supremacists are frequently accused of. Just that this is on the opposite end of extreme. |
MrBrownJay1:Your opinion is extreme as you give no room for reconciliation. IYHO, almost all marriages would be void as most African marriages have recorded cases of infidelity. Going by your logic, more than 70% of marriages are currently miserable, and the African society should be predominantly be a divorce fest rather than have reconciled marriages. You are not proferring a workable solution but only touting a vindictive impractical approach that will be of little benefit to the social construct of this world. If reconciliation will make things between a couple fine once more, why go the divorce route? Humans are not perfect. Even David (in the bible) and many contemporary world leaders had extramarital affairs ( Heck Nelson Mandela had affairs, Ryan Giggs had sex his in-law while married). While these examples do not make infidelity right, if the offending party is willing to make things right genuinely, I think it's worth a chance if the victim does not mind. Only in situations where one of the parties is unrepentant will I advocate complete separation as a first approach. Oga, you need to recognize that life is a spectrum and things are not always just black or white. |
MrBrownJay1:It may have been because of political ambitions, but that still falls under some sort of leverage which I previously highlighted. My point is that you cannot put all cases of infidelity in the same bucket, and therefore recommend divorce as the panacea to all. That will be myopic. I think we can all agree that it's a no-brainer that infidelity is not right, so that's not in dispute. The issue is the way to address it is on a case-by-case basis. And this is mostly dependent on the victims themselves and preferably with a counsellor, so that they make the best choice for themselves. This could be through divorce, forgiveness, separation, etc. You cannot change the perspective of the Nigerian society. Hence you should look out for what's best for you. |
MrBrownJay1:Your view, while appropriate, is a tad too theoretical. There are extenuating circumstances that may make the notion of putting up with an unfaithful husband a bit bearable than being divorced especially if he has other good attributes that the wife likes, especially in Africa. These include: -If the wife does not have much leverage and the husband is rich and powerful -If the issue is a one-off, where the husband is not a serial womanizer -Polygamy as an acceptable culture in these parts -The societal stigma of being without a husband for the wife -Considerations over raising children in a broken home So, until all the facts and circumstances are carefully considered, you cannot just recommend divorce for all cases of infidelity. Even Hilary Clinton did not divorce Bill, which would be wrong going by your logic. At the end of the day, it depends on the victim and how much she can put up with, things that can make deflect the emotional trauma, if the husband is remorseful etc. |
Magnoliaa:No ma'am. Although I suspect this is your own conclusion. However, the fact is that the male ego is a natural instinct. Just as a male lion that conquers another male lion tries to assert its dominance by killing off the conquered male's offspring, to put the females on heat. It's a natural order that is not based on how the lions were nurtured. Countless examples abound in the higher animal kingdom where the male species need to put in some sort of competitive performance to win over female mates. It's all natural. It's no different in humans. The fact that males naturally have a higher level of testosterone makes them genetically wired to be physically stronger, more confident, more adventurous, than their female counterparts. It's these attributes that have helped shape the progression of the world for thousand of years through wars, inventions, expeditions, etc. By being naturally stronger and domineering, it's only natural that men would be in charge of the decision making processes in most societies, giving them that upper hand in representation at the global stage. Of course, this also comes into play when relating with females. Men are generally fiercely competitive when trying to woo a woman, and would try to employ the very best methods that would demonstrate their manhood to win a lady. Females too overtime have come to reward men (accepting proposals) that exhibit the very best traits of manliness which spur men to aspire to attain higher levels of male supremacy. In summary, the essence of the male ego is firstly natural, consequently it becomes evident, and then finally becomes cemented through societal values. |
dicefrost:No sir. U need to consider the facts and your mathematics is wrong. Firstly, about 215 countries voted with 3 voters per country making it 645 total votes. At the end of it all, Messi had 46 points, VVD 38 and CR7, 34 points. This means that one vote is not up to a point, as the total number of votes is higher than the total points for the top 10 nominees. Hence, 3 to 6 votes COULD NOT have been up to 8 points. Secondly, and most importantly, two of the countries that raised the issue voted for Mohammed Salah and not VVD. So the additional points if counted would add to Salah's votes and not VVD's. The Nicaragua captain said he did not vote at all, as apparently his FA voted for him. His lone vote would not have covered the 8 point difference between VVD and Messi. So you see, except more voters come out to dispute their votes as published by FIFA, the current results still stands true. |
trustedward:It appears you are extremely daft. You want to pretend that you don't know that most of the people latching on to and propagating this news on SM are CR7 fans, including you. When I've already schooled many of them on this issue. Is that a matter of emotions? I even took the effort to explain that even if the claims were true, it will change nothing, and if anything was to change, it will be CR7 switching positions with Salah as most of the complaints were in favour of Salah. But you could not even comprehend this and went on an off-tangential comparison with Buhari-Atiku. It is better for you to keep quiet and be thought wise instead of letting the whole world in on your moronic personality. I'm expecting another daft response from you. |
islandmoon:I wouldn't refer to 4 disputed votes out of 430 votes as GROSS irregularities. I think FIFA's rebuttal has been reasonable. The voting system is transparent enough i.e all the votes were published so the voters can counter the votes if the need arises. If no more than the current number of complaints arise, then I think it has been an overall credible process. |
islandmoon:No you didn't read the article. If you read it you will see that the complaints came from only three countries out of 215 countries that voted. Two out of the three countries were African countries whose coach and captains claim that they voted for Mohammed Salah, however their votes were not even counted at all. FIFA has responded that they did not put their signatures on their votes as required. Nicaragua is the only country that said it did not vote for Messi. FIFA has now presented the voting package it received from the coach which indicates that he voted for Messi. So you see, how will four votes have changed Messi's victory when three of them said they voted for Salah?? |
CR7 fans are so pained that they sha want to discredit Messi's triumph by any means necessary, even when it's glaring that the likely impact of this isolated anomalies would be for CR7 to move from 3rd down to 4th, as 75% of the complainants are M. Salah protagonists, none of whom voted for Ronaldo. |

Formularcr7:I don't argue with retards. Now run along. |
MrFly:There is no thanking you for propagating ignorance so blatantly. So much for your ancient knowledge of football. On the FIFA official website, it is stated that Messi has won the FIFA Best award SIX times. Please check it out and stop wallowing in misinformation. The awards were merged in 2010 to become FIFA Ballon D'or and not just Ballon D'or as you claimed, meaning that the winner automatically holds both awards. In 2016, the awards were split once more which was when CR7 won it again first. You cannot know better than the FIFA which gave the award now. So run along Mr Fly. And for your information, I'm sure I started following football much earlier than you do, cos if you did you would not be spewing such ignorance. |
MrFly:Mr Fly, the award was not introduced in 2016, it was REBRANDED in 2016 to FIFA the best awards, just like the English league was rebranded to EPL in 1992. And Messi has won the award a record Six times. You may not like it, but that is the fact which makes him the GOAT. Consider this as free education. Cheers. |
Debaiz:Thanks for the reminder. Now tell me, is that not the real rigging. If the voting deadline had been extended in any of the years Messi won, I can only imagine the outrage and furore that will be generated by anti-Messi peeps. I recall that Messi scored 60 club goals that season while CR7 scored 56goals. It was his qualifiers that tipped the balance in his favour. |
majamajic:VVD did not win European best award, what he won was the UEFA player of the year. The European footballer of the year is also the same as the Ballon D'or. The voting for UEFA POTY is made by a much smaller pool of voters. That may be one reason for the difference. And it is not always automatic that the winner of UEFA POTY will win FIFA Best or Ballon D'or. In fact, sometimes the winner of FIFA Best may not win Ballon D'or. That does not mean either is undeserved, it may just indicate that the competition is really close. As it is, VVD may still win the Ballon D'or in December, even though I think Messi deserves it more. |
EtihadAirways:Henderson played great against Barca in the SF second leg even though he was injured, he still created the first assist that Origi scored. He was better than VVD in that game. |
Which conspiracy? VVD did not take Liverpool to champs league glory. Liverpool won by virtue of notable performances from Origi, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Allison in the SF and Final. Mane and Salah in the QF. VVD's outstanding performance was in the second round against Bayern munich. How do you now think this is better than Messi's outstanding performances in the SR, QF and First leg of the SemiFinal. The La Liga that Messi won, he was the main protagonist, so when you combine all of these individual factors, Messi takes the cake, except you are being unobjective. Many players have won the award without winning any major trophy in the year they won it, case in point, Ronaldinho in 2004, Figo in 2001, Zidane in 2003, CR7 in 2013. The FIFA Best player is first and foremost, an individual award, and in all honesty, VVD and Messi's performances over the past season are still miles apart. You did not raise this issue when CR7 won over Ribery on the basis of individual performances even though Ribery won all the most important trophies. I submit that you are just a pained CR7 fan. |
The GOATESS |
MiddleDimension:Madrid won champs league when they brought in Bale. Ronaldo had tried for 5 years without being able to win shit, until Bale came around. |
This guy is a joke |
namss:Very apt. I couldn't have said it better. Imagine using a single match to discredit almost a whole year of spectacular brilliance. While some others want to use the only one or two brilliant matches they had throughout the season to cover up for almost a whole year of mediocrity and win the best award. Haba! Who does that? |
EbukaHades10:It's because you are taking Messi/CR7 like numbers for granted. To put this into perspective, a world-class striker (in top leagues) is considered to have a good season with 25 - 30 goals, an excellent season with 30 - 35 goals and an outstanding season (Ballon D'or nomination worthy) with 36 - 42 goals. In Messi's worst season since 2009, he raked in 42 goals. Messi scoring 50 plus goals for fun every season is no mean feat to be watered down simply because we are getting bored of it. Why aren't other strikers doing the same if it was easy? Salah in his glorious season scored 44 goals and he was being bandied about as the next best thing since sliced bread. Why should Messi suffer or be punished because he is being better than Salah? The question you should ask youself is, Has VVD or any other defender consistently churned out performances that would be considered exceptionally out-of-the-ordinary far above what an outstanding defender ordinarily does? Cos this is the level Messi has been operating at. At the end of it all, and if we are honest with ourselves, we'd agree that VVD has just been an outstanding defender, the current best in the world no doubt. When the likes of Messi and CR7 retires, then the VVDs can stake their claim as the world's best player. |
