To refresh your memory, Pele was voted by Fifa, Maradona was voted by football fans, hence FIFA had to give both players the award to share. Messi was not in the picture at the turn of the century when both Maradona and Pele shared the award. So if Pele is regarded as an equal to Maradona, and I and many others consider Messi equal to Maradona, then surely my statement that no player ever was better than Maradona or Messi in their prime is in order. You get my logic?

On an individual talent level, I'd say they are both at par and play similarly.

From a national team contribution perspective, Maradona was better. He won a WC with Argentina, while Messi could only get to the final. However, I think Maradona had better teammates in Argentina than Messi, as they had won the WC without Maradona just 8 years before.

From a club perspective, Messi was better as he has won several club trophies that Maradona has never won. However, in the same vein, he had better teammates than Maradona clubwise.

I'd conclude that they are equals. Two top players who in their prime, have been bettered than no other player in football history.

It baffles me that a lot of Nigerians are still trivializing COVID 19, claiming it's a hoax, an elite man disease, means of Govt embezzlement etc. By the time it is passed down form the elites to the masses (which is a just a matter of time) then you'd know what's up.

We now have at least 15 confirmed deaths (17 if you add other cases that died of suspected COVID 19 infection) from COVID, with just over 400 cases at the moment, that's about 3.7% death rate which is at par with the average global death rate. Apparently, the death rate in Nigeria is not as low as is being presented! This calls for greater caution by all Nigerians. COVID is real!

When our confirmed infections begin to run into the thousands, will it be acceptable to have hundreds of people die from the disease?

The standard is that you feel ill, you then present yourself to a clinic or hospital; they 1st test & treat you for malaria. If symptoms persist, they then test for other things like typhoid & when tired of your case, refer you to General hospital or Teaching hospital depending on your proximity.

By this time, you have drank so many different medicine that you end up not knowing the one that cured you.

In all of this, the nurses and Doctors attended to you without gloves; facemask or PPE but they end up not contracting any disease.

If you know any other process different from the above, you can then see why our health system does not feel they should spend so much testing.

The difference is that none of the above diseases you mentioned has the capacity to inundate our healthcare system like CoVID 19.

If you allow everybody infected with CoVID 19 to start showing symptoms before you test and treat them, it will get to a point where hundreds or thousands of infected persons will show symptoms at the same time. This will overwhelm our fragile healthcare facilities. So you cannot use measles approach for CoVID 19.

Also while asymptomatic, many people will continue to infect others unknowingly which will have devastating impacts as seen in some other countries.

Tests are key to knowing the true status of the extent of the infection and managing the spread. With one of the lowest testing ratios in the world, our CoVID 19 management statistics are a complete farce!

To put this into perspective, if Ghana were to have tested less than 5,000 people like NIgeria, they'd probably only have less than 100 cases, and then they'd be falsely happy about the low spread of the disease.

With 10 recorded COVID deaths in Nigeria coupled with about 2 unofficial deaths (making a total of at least 12), our actual level of infection (as at two weeks ago) could be around 900 - 1200 cases when taking the 1% - 1.5% average death rate into account. Right now, with an average infection rate per person of 2.5 - 3Ro (i.e one person infects 2.5 to 3 people on the average), we might be looking at up to 2,500 - 3,500 cases currently in Nigeria. I'm not a prophet of doom but these are logical reasons for everyone to take the lockdown more seriously to break the cycle of infection!

That's incorrect. The genome for CoVid 19 has since been sequenced by scientists. So the tests are targeted specifically to detect CoVID 19. Do you think virologists and other expert scientists don't know that there are different types of coronaviruses? Are they quacks? When you, a non-medical expert, could know, is it the experts that wouldn't know? The website where you read the information you reeled out about the types of Coronaviruses, is it not the same experts that put it there?

When they tested people for MERS in 2012, were they testing for all kinds of coronaviruses and recording them as MERS? How much more in 2020!

Another implication of this is that the death rate in Nigeria is not as low as presumed. At 7 deaths per 250 confirmed cases, that's about 2.9% death rate which is higher than that of Germany (1.9%), Turkey (2.1%), Australia, Norway, Canada and even Japan. It means that if we have up to 10,000 cases, we'd be talking about 290 people dead.

The FG should as a matter of fact take this situation more seriously and increase testing and contact tracing and containment measures.

By the way, Messi has at least 1,000 more documented dribbles than CR7.
