sinkhole: But why all these effort just to lie? Or maybe the guy is just telling the truth. I know this is like going against the popular opinion here, but I think his account is believable. The two possible options are either it's a bomb/explosive or a meteorite. Eyewitness accounts points more towards it being a bomb. Also, there is no motive for Government to cover up a meteorite hit as it is purely an Act of Nature which is no fault of any Govt. On the contrary, it will be a cover up where the Govt is claiming it's a meteorite hit when it's in fact an explosion. The driver's survival is perfectly explainable. The shockwaves generated by an explosion typically has a more devastating effect on nearby buildings and anything rooted in the soil than people within similar distance. The reason is because buildings are rigid and firmly established in the ground. They are not flexible, so to accommodate the shock waves, they crack and may even collapse. Humans can move or be thrown away by the impact of the waves which may not necessarily result in death. The same principle applies during severe earthquakes where the loss of lives is usually from the collapsing buildings. Humans who are in open spaces during such earthquakes have a greater chance of survival than those inside buildings. Like someone allegedly witnessed, if the truck parts were flung up to nearby houses, this is also a corroborating evidence for the truck bomb explosion |

Jokerman: With the way Barcelona fans keep shouting 'Bale, Bale', one would think he's assisted Ronaldo 100 times , not knowing him and Neymar are on the same assists to a particular player
Now look at benzemiss ... I'm surprised even Suarez had assisted Messi more than he did Ronaldo... Perhaps if Suarez didn't pass to Messi, he would have won ballondor or European best
Even see Marcelo assists is not as much as Dani Alves Do you realize you are doing CR7 more of a disservice here with this your ill-fated comparison?? What the statistics you pulled out demonstrates is that Messi is a better goal scorer than Ronaldo. If Messi has scored more goals from open play than CR7, it is a no brainer that someone must have passed the ball to him initially as he couldn't have received the ball in a vacuum. Hence, it is only logical that he would have been "assisted" more, since he had more non-penalty goals. Nobody assists a penalty lol. Obviously, Messi has been assisted more than Lewandowski, than Aguero, than Ibrahimovic. Thank you for also pointing out that of CR7 to us. We can all agree that Messi has been a better goal scorer than all these guys. Worthy of note is that several of these so called assists were harmless passes given to Messi 45 yards away from the goal. Ponder on that. Messi is the most assisted player, he's also the player with the most assists. Isn't that wonderful |

DirtyGold: As I've said before, I still don't understand what the deal is about this covid19 bullshit though... How can a chinese flu with very low mortality rate ground almost all sectors of a civilized world?
Imagine this quote for America alone: "The CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 22,000 deaths, 36 million flu illnesses, 370,000 hospitalizations. The 2019-2020 influenza outbreak is moderate to low in ..." Yet, not even a single county has been locked down in America due to flu (which is a yearly thing by the way)! But coronavirus showed up and everywhere scattered
What's tha business? The answer to your question lies within the very information you have provided in your post. Without any control/lockdown measures put in place, the flu infected about 36 million people and caused about 22,000 casualties abi? If no lockdown was introduced for COVID, it is estimated that it will infect over 120million Americans which is way higher than flu. Assuming that it even only infects the same 36million persons as the normal flu did, with the supposedly low COVID death rate of about 2 percent on average in the US, that will translate to about 720,000 deaths which you will agree that is significantly higher than 22,000 death caused by the normal flu. THAT IS THE BIG DEAL. In reality, if left unchecked without any lockdown measures, the White house estimates about 1million - 2.5million deaths in America due to COVID which is definitely a big threat to the survival of the American society or any society for that matter. |

SharpJoe: I am not saying it is not in order. However, priority. The speech today is a first line of action. Not relief.
You know, if he is a leader who addresses the people daily or at least 3 times a week, that can come later.
Today, we need the basics handled. Testing, Isolation, treatment, food supply chain, medical supply chain, kits for health workers, medicine. Innovative means of stopping immediate spread
When these pick up, he can talk of palliatives.
But first, the above require humongous amount of money when it concerns protecting the lives of millions of people. School feeding and loans is not a priority when he has not calculated how much it will cost to set up multiple testing centres across the country and isolation procedures.
If you imagine how much it will cost to test across the Nation in the coming days, you will understand the gravity. I disagree with you on the above, economic palliatives are also priority at this time as financial obligations are currently under strain i.e repayments are falling due as we speak. How long do you think it takes a business to crumble in the absence of cashflows? My point is that both issues should be addressed simultaneously, not one at the detriment of the other. Even, the UK and the US had first announced several economic palliative measures before they significantly ramped up their frequency of testing. What I agree with you on is that Buhari's speech didn't address the disease containment plans adequately at all. I suspect that this is because of a lack of coordination with NCDC for the know-how on the medical technicalities by his team. |

SharpJoe: Just listened to a pile of Crap from the President. No talk about improved testing. Instead he is talking of children feeding. No talk about safety kits for the citizens. Instead he is talking about loans.
Loans for which business that are in lockdown?
What Nigeria needs is testing kits to know the magnitude of spread. Then isolate those who test positive and treat them.
Please someone should inform the President that the first line of defence against the virus is not social distancing but widespread tests. I would assume you are the goodjoehunt and I know your comments to be very analytical and on point. However, on this one, it is a bit less so. While I agree with you on the urgency for improved testing, what Buhari said about providing palliatives for loans obtained by businesses under lockdown is equally important. The economic recession that will be caused by COVID 19 can also lead to hundreds of thousands of death in a country like Nigeria. Many SMEs are funded by loan financing and the monthly interest payment obligations in the absence of revenue is a business killer. Hence, providing them with a moratorium (suspension of repayments) is perfectly in order. A lot of other countries have done the same. Heck, the German Finance Minister committed suicide cos of the looming economic recession, so don't downplay this kind of intervention. |

Everything about this matter for naija nah either scam or overzealousness of the officials or deliberately creating panic. The statistics in Germany is the truest reflection of Co-vid 19 status in a country globally as it has ramped up its testing capacity up to 500,000 tests per week while Nigeria is even yet to conduct up to 1,000 tests for over a month now.. How dare you compare Nigeria's handling of Co-vid to such level of effectiveness?? |
Health › Re: Lagos Converts Onikan Stadium To Coronavirus Isolation Centre by ThierryJay: 9:17am On Mar 27, 2020 |
Reference: Technically no. If your immune system is not compromised it produces antibodies, that is special proteins that help fight the virus, in large enough quantities and warehoudwarehouseses them for future defence.
It will interest you to note that clinical trials have begun using the serum of those recoveted ftom the disease to see whether their antibodies could fight off the virus in sick patients. So if you recover your blood could be worth more than gold.... in theory.
However there is a caveat. If the virus mutates rapidly, ie presents as a moving target or fights guerilla warfare like the HIV, then antibody clinical regimes become ineffective. This is wrong. There are confirmed reports of recovered people being reinfected in China and Italy. |

Good luck You are extremely dumb to think the virus isn't spreading already, just because people are yet to show symptoms, given that the incubation period is up to two weeks. Even when you yourself admitted to showing symptoms before you get tested, meaning that it would already be in people's system before they show symptoms. Why is Nigeria having limited kits and SA and Ghana aren't? Isn't that an indicator of our incompetence?? Jeez, arguing with you is lowering my IQ already. |

To put thinks in context, people should try expressing the number that tested positive as percentage of total tests carried out. Maybe that will give a better perspective of the magnitude of what lies ahead. That's Nigeria for you. Everything imaginable thing gets twisted up into a political issue. Those comparing the Ebola regime and Covid are also misguided as the manner of dealing with both are different. |

SADISTIC human beings You are displaying unbelievable ignorance with your statement above, like a madman dancing in full display at the market square. Let me ask you a question, Is it the perception that we are managing it well that really matters or knowledge of the actual extent of the plague so that we can do proper disease control? The WHO chief has repeatedly stressed that countries need to test and test people continuously. Ghana, our neighbor discovered 40 new cases yesterday from increased level of testing. South Korea, Spain, US and Germany all do over 10,000 tests every day. South Africa has tested over 15,000 persons out of whom 709 are positive. It is extremely unacceptable and irresponsible that Nigeria has conducted less than 200 tests! for such a disease that is highly contagious. That in itself is putting the general populace at risk of more infections, because many people will think it is not yet serious and not take the necessary precautions!
There is nothing patriotic about misleading the public to create a false perception in the international community.I hope you have a rethink. |

Yesterday they announced that they had stopped the epidemic. They appear in videos celebrating, they announce that they even have a vaccine. How could they create it so quickly without having all the genetic information? Well if you are the owner of the formula it is not difficult at all. And today I just saw a video that explains how Den Xiao Ping gave the west a half stick. Due to the coronavirus, the actions of Western companies in China fell dramatically. China I just hope, when they went down enough they bought them. Now the companies, Created by the USA and Europe in China with all the technology put in by these exchanges and their capital they passed into the hands of China, which is now rising with all that technological potential and will be able to set prices at will to sell everything they need to the West. How are you? None of this could have happened by chance. China who cared that a few old men died? Fewer old-age pensions to pay, but the loot has been huge. And right now the West is financially defeated, in crisis and stunned by the disease. And without knowing what to do. Masterfully diabolic. Nobody had any game plan - one of the few times America operated from adhoc mode. Lately President Trump has always been telling of how the GREAT American economy was improving on all fronts and jobs were coming back to the USA The only way to destroy his vision of making AMERICA GREAT AGAIN is to create an ECONOMIC HAVOC. But he forgot his vulnerability - wellness. Wuhan's epidemic was a showcase. At the peak of the virus epidemic....China's President Xi Jinping...just wore a simple RM1 facemask to visit those effected areas. As President he should have been covered from head to toe, right?.....But that was not the case. He was already injected to resist any harm from the virus....that means a cure was already in place before the virus was released China's vision is to control the World ECONOMY by buying up stocks now from countries facing the brink of severe ECONOMIC COLLAPSE.....La ter China will announce that their Medical Researchers have found a cure to destroy the virus Now China shall OWN the stocks of All Western Alliances and these countries will soon be slave to their NEW MASTER.....
