Romance › Re: How To Reduce Hook-ups In Nigeria by ThierryJay: 5:32pm On May 18, 2023 |
pansophist: Gerrard59
In a bid to simplify this, I will ask you a few questions.
1. Can you name anything you know of, either a trade, substances (eg drugs), events (e.g. abortion performance), etc, that the government trying to ban it allows the dealers to go free, but arrest/punish only the buyers?
So for example, if I sell harmful drugs, I am free to distribute, manufacture, and advertise, but the government only punishes my customers, not me?
2. If I want to stop alomo bitters in the Nigerian market, Which method is more effective between these two scenarios? Scenario A. Ban importation and make it punishable for dealers to sell such services, AS well as make it punishable for customers to use such products.
Or scenario B, Punish only customers and let the dealers of alomo trade and conduct their business freely?
If you can answer both questions above correctly, then my point will be very clear.
Back to the issue, sellers/service providers always have more power to stop the circulation of a business. There are so many examples I can mention but is it necessary?
When Buhari doesn't want Twitter, he banned it, AND punish those using VPN to access it. That is more effective than just punishing Twitter users. In most countries, prostitution is illegal. If your method is correct, then it should be the other way around, right?
How can you ignore all the societal structures that encourage prostitution and punish only men? it makes no sense frankly. There are hotels specifically to house harlot, then nightclubs, then roadsides where the harlot stands, then hookup sites such as coded runs, and so much more.
You will ignore all these things and just go arrest men? Really? like REALLY? if you want to cut a tree, you do it from the root. You don't cut the fruits and declare success.
My point still stands. If prostitution has to stop, then women have to stop it, not men. Men could be punished for engaging in such services as trafficking girls, building hotels, and so much more.
But it is women, not men, that control sexual access. Not putting the blame on hungry girls that uses prostitution instead of hard work is infantilizing girls.
If the government bans prostitution, which means closing a lot of hotels, banning the site-coded runs, arresting any prostitutes found on junctions, and fining nightclubs heavily, prostitution will reduce overnight.
But to ignore all these and just go for men only? It won't end. A quick example. If I am the only one selling Amala in a city, I have the power to prevent everyone in that city not to eat amala if I refuse to sell. By the same analogy, only women, not men, have the power to stop it.
ANd about my saying that ´men create the society and women integrate into it´, creating a society also means banning prostitution. If men ban prostitution and also punish men luring girls for such services, it will end overnight.
cc. lordAdam16, CaveAdullam Smart points. Its like Gerrard59 is not aware that based on his line of argument, he is effectively saying women are a commodity since they dont have the obligation or are unable to resist being put on display and sold to the highest/willing bidder. Common sense dictates that it's the supply point that's most effective to control any vice. Parents that dont want their young kids to watch porn on their devices either seize the device or block the sites. It will be useless to expect the kid to just use their initiative and leave the device with them. Successful companies install controls that block employees ability to commit fraud. They dont leave it to employees to use their 'church mind'. Baba Gerrard just dey go off tangent. |

blueAgent: KDB has performed very well in UCL in the last 2 or 3 seasons. At the national level , yiu can't blame him for Belgium's poor performance. There's a reason I said not yet. It will not be appropriate to compare a 30yr old KDB to a 37/38yr old Modric. So let me put it this way. Modric's body of work from 2013 till 2022 (and especially 2016 - 2022) has won him: A Ballon dor 5 UCLs A World Cup golden ball and silver medal A World cup bronze medal Several UEFA awards Meanwhile, KDB's mark is still majorly in the EPL and a WC bronze medal. Modric has been the best midfielder of the biggest and most successful club in the world for up to a decade. That is no small feat. Add the fact that he can dribble, pass and shoot as good as KDB. He is also better defensively and can control the match tempo better while KDB has better offensive acumen. So you see, KDB still has some catching up to do. |

KDB is better than Modric. Not yet bro. If you are using G/A statistics to judge, then it'll look like he's even better than Zidane. There are some really big stage performances from Modric in UCL and international level that KDB is yet to match. That's what separates the men from the boys but KDB isnt far behind. |

OJEEMAH: We share same view about Zidane, Iniesta and Modric and I also agree with your take on Fabregas💯
Don’t get me wrong about KDB. He’s a fantastic player and I am not in any way trying to undermine his abilities and achievements. My point is about how Guardiola’s factor could have aided his performance especially in a time when top premier league clubs are struggling to cope with Pep’s philosophy.
Just see how Man City handled almighty Bayern like a mid table La liga team. Same Bayern that outplayed and tortured PSG. Bro, Pep’s Man City is a level above every team in Europe and it’s more about Pep’s factor than even the amount invested in building that team. . Sure, Guardiola improves every player and even Iniesta and Xavi delivered their best under his tutelage, so I agree that De Bruyne benefits from Pep's structure. In fact that is the very reason why KDB is not Tier 1 yet because he is yet to function similarly on the international scene outside of Guardiola/Man City's system and the lack of UCL. But since we can only judge based on a player's actual output regardless of the contributory factors or what ifs, I believe KDB's exploits and intensity in EPL puts him above fellow competitors like Scholes, Lampard, Gerard, Ginola, Zola, Fabregas, David Silva, Yaya Toure, Ozil, Ballack and Mata. |

OJEEMAH: You sabi football bro.
FIFA Best/Balon D’or might give Zidane a slight edge over Iniesta but that doesn’t negate the fact that he can sit on the same table with him and other tier 1 midfielders.
Before Messi, Zidane was my favorite but mehn, leave football for Iniesta. That guy was pure class and magical. Beyond description if you ask me. The only crime he committed was torturing opponents alongside Messi and Xavi.
Modric is a maestro. A genius in his own way but I don’t think any coach will play him ahead of Xavi or Iniesta if they were in the same team.
I still think Fabregas should comfortably sit with the guys in tier 2. The guy is/was a brilliant midfielder with a great vision and eyes for goals. Both in club and international football, Xavi‘s presence didn’t make his career any easy. In fact, Xavi presence disrupted his development to an extent. I wish he never joined Barcelona. As a youngster, he rejected Madrid twice. Just like Modric, a move to Madrid would have been much better for his career.
Guardiola’s Man City is too dominant for a player like KDB not to shine. Seriously, am not taking anything away from KDB but I still don’t think he would be this influential under Pellegrini and Mancini. Like Yaya Toure and David Silva, he would have competed against prime Man U and Chelsea. For the past 5years, Man City have proven to be class above every team. |

Sure, Zidane is more acclaimed in terms of awards maybe because he has this much larger personality than Iniesta, but in terms of doings on the pitch, both have that similar elegant classy technique. Both are the biggest big game midfielders of the 21st century, won World cups and Euros for their teams. Iniesta has way more UCLs, though which is why I think Zidane was lucky not to play during Messi era. Modric does not come close to the domination and control that Prime Xaviniesta will give you. So, he is slightly behind them. I am swayed to agree with you about Fabregas. I think why I put the maybe is because of his lack of UCL at club level . But on the strength of his performances for Arsenal, Barca and his first season at Chelsea, he should be a comfortable Tier 2 midfielder. Not sure about your take on KDB though. While it may be true that the Man City set up optimizes his performance, he is also a beast individually. He is one of the most intelligent players I've seen (I'm talking Messi, Bergkamp, Zidane IQ level) and his ball executions are of consistently high quality which is a rarity with other players. He may not have played against Prime United and Chelsea, but he played and usually scored against Prime Liverpool with all their ghengen pressing. |

No be modric wey dey select match shine self Lol, why una dey vex for Modric. He is a Ballon D'or winner and was instrumental in Croatia's run to the World Cup final as WC best player. My reply was even targeted more at enlightening others who may have been swayed by his comment than he himself. Best midfielders of the 21st century (wingers and attacking midfielders like Dinho, Figo, Robben are excluded) Tier 1 - Zidane, Iniesta, Xavi, Modric, Pirlo. Tier 2 - Scholes, D. Silva, Lampard, Gerard, KDB, Busquets, Kroos, Yaya Toure, Sneijder, Rui Costa and maybe Fabregas If KDB wins the UCL and does well in the Euros next year, he'll enter Tier 1. I already think he is the best midfielder of the EPL since 1992. |

Iniesta is one of the GOAT of midfielders and the only reason he lacks a B dor was that he competed against prime Messi. Iniesta of 2008 - 2015 is better than any version of Modric. optimusprime2: Brother that's the point... Man city needed a striker who has exceptional positioning and is Phenomenal at "Tap-in finishing", so that they can have more goals per game.
Their midfield already does all the artistry. Infact any striker who is good at "tap ins" will excel in this current Man city side, because you can bet either a KDB, Foden, Mahrez, Grealish, Bernado, or Gundogan pass will find you for a tap in.
My only vex with Pep is why he let Cancelo go so easily, because that is one of the most versatile players in this era of football. Agreed. So I'll rather adore the artists who are making the team to flourish while I just appreciate the one who scores the tap-ins. Cancelo seems a bit stubborn. Such players always have issues with Pep. |
Sports › Re: Erling Haaland Breaks Premier League Record For Most Goals In A Season by ThierryJay: 4:08pm On May 04, 2023 |
Peacecore: Since you saw him do it, it means he can do it any time. He's a no.9 for crying out loud and sticks to instructions from Pep. He was bought for a reason, not to defend, dribble but to score goal. His presence is why it's very difficult to park bus for City. His positioning and threat on defenders makes it easy for anyone to take the keeper and the defenders on surprise. Haaland is doing what he's meant to do perfectly. Pep is not someone you'll disobey his tactics without paying for it. Because of Haaland, City now play counter attack. Do you expect him to leave his role and come to drag the midfield with experts there? Messi's role is understandable, he's no.10 hence, he dribbles, assists and scores. Bro I'm not disputing Haaland's purpose and effectiveness in City's system. I'm just saying based on his current overall style and output, I'm not a fan of that kind of footballer. What he is doing is what Lewandowski did in 2020, what Gerd Muller did for years. Great players/legends, but with little entertainment. A select few are able to do both consistently without detriment to their team play. For me, that's the joy of football. |

That game vs Arsenal was actually so uncharacteristic of Haaland's play which is why it was so surprising to many pundits. He needs to do more of that frequently then maybe I may just become a fan. For now though, he remains an EPL Lewandowski. |

Obembet you better sit down at the table of wise men and learn proper reporting. All these cut and join portray you as a rookie.
The background to this story as reported by Fabrizio Romano is as follows:
- Messi rejected PSG's offer for extension about a month ago.
- Messi is the biggest brand ambassador in Saudi Arabia. He has previously postponed his trip to SA two times on account of PSG's directive
- After last weekend's match, the players were given 2 - 3 days off. Messi used this opportunity to travel but still notified PSG of his intention before travelling despite having up to 3 free days
- While Messi was already on the flight on Monday, PSG changed their initial communication and asked players to report for training same day
- Obviously Messi could not return immediately while already en route SA and they subsequently issued a suspension.
The reality is that PSG felt belittled by Messi's rejection and are now getting back at him with this smear campaign. The fans feel Messi used them to prepare for the World cup which he won. But they have failed as Messi has always been a great professional and now Newcastle, Man City and Barca are interested in his signature.
Messi has scored 20 goals with 18 assists this season alone (38 G/A) and will win a league trophy along with it. Nobody can take away or rewrite his success story and it's definitely not frustrated Pendulums.
So the little club's fans can keep shouting, afterall they shouted just before the GOAT won the World Cup. |
