FamilyRe: Divorce On The Rise In Nigeria: Why? by ThoniaSlim(f): 9:21am On Dec 30, 2007
Because the sacred institution of marriage is taken for granted these days. we meet, ohhh we are in love, lets get married. some days,weeks,months or years later. i don't love you anymore and there are some problems, lets get divorced.

thats the way most people see marriages these days. they only look at the wedding, but don't see whats beyond the wedding. they don't seem to understand the vows you make at the altar, is like taking an oath. if you know you are not ready to take that oath of for better or worse till death do us part, then don't get married at all.

The western culture takes no blame at all, because its an individual perception of things. nothing was forced on anyone. its a matter of choice to either follow others or you stand by your values.

Its simple, if your not ready to handle the A,B,C and trouble that comes with marriage and you know your a quitter, then don't get married at all.
FamilyRe: Why Do Singles In the U.S/U.K Still Prefers To Go And Marry From Naija by ThoniaSlim(f): 9:07am On Dec 30, 2007
odiaseo:
I believe it also depends on the upbringing of the lady not only whether she's in Nigeria or stationed abroad. I can understand why guys perfer to go back to Nigeria to get a bride having lived in the UK for a while. Except the guy is really desperate to get papers by marrying a foreigner, his preference is always to get a decent Nigerian girl. Even those that marry for papers end up marrying a Nigerian after a while.

The culture and lifestyle abroad is totally different from home. When you think about how you want your children to be brought up, the obvious option is to give them an identity, morals, values and a sense of family life. The economic situation in Nigeria has made veryone desperate, not just the ladies alone, so we shouldn't blame any girl for being desperate. Who doesn't want a better life. We are partly responsible for their behaviours because we give people back home the wrong impression about life here. Except you're a yahoo boy, life is hard and the hard currency is hard to make.

My advice is to prayerfully seek a girl that is well brought up regardless of where she is naija or abroad. A desperate girl that is well brought up in Nigeria would realise the situation when she comes abroad and adjust accordingly. A selfish, unsupporting girl will pretend of course and ruin you when she comes here.

Having said that, you can find decent Nigerians abroad to marry, the only thing is that they may not be able to cook the egusi and ogbono the way you like it . You can find out 7 Reasons why I married my wife here http://www.peleodiase.com/blog/wife-marriage
Word, very reasonable.

@topic

It doesn't matter where the girl is based, Nigeria or Abroad. its the upbringing, character and values she possesses that matters.

FamilyRe: Is Silence The Best Option? by ThoniaSlim(f): 8:32am On Dec 30, 2007
It might be good sometimes but not always the best option. i heard of a woman who killed herself because her husband wouldn't talk for days to her, and she had serious problems, so she committed suicide. you just have to know who and the situation your dealing with before carrying out your silent treatment. some people can't handle it.

Christianity EtcRe: Catholic Priest In Abortion Mess! by ThoniaSlim(f): 1:24pm On Dec 29, 2007
Look, am not going to judge anyone. the catholic priest was involved in something very wrong, yes i know it. but the way the poster emphasized the ''Catholic Priest'' is very uncalled for, like he has some biasness towards the catholic priests or something. its clear the topic is full of hidden animosity. so you can go ahead and say whatever you wanna say, i don't care, as long as i have given my opinion.
