Never, ever. I know a couple who did 2 years in jail because their maid started acting up, refused to go to school and after they reported back to her guardian in Nigeria and were asked to put her on the first flight back, went to the authorities and declared that she was a trafficked person (this is someone who almost every year was put on a plane to visit her family back home, on their dime). It was a silly case and the judge would have thrown it out but unfortunately her passport had false info on it (her guardian did that, not them) so they got the book thrown at them for that. And the maid promptly declared she was a lesbian and filed for Asylum.

Pay whatever the hell any worker abroad wants. That is the price you pay for living in a society that works: it's more expensive. Or come to Nigeria, pay cheap labour and have a society in shambles, with zero infrastructure and pay quadruple just to have electricity, clean water and some measure of security. You cannot have both, no eating your slice of cake and sharing some to Ada, Bisi and Halima. And Nigerians in general are too unpredictable to ever trust long-run.
The bolded is the main issue, that unpredictability.
I know a couple who have done it for a couple of years but they are lucky they have a loyal girl.
It's a risky venture.

^^^I'm sure all that would have been finalised.

It's actually cheaper than getting a nanny abroad so it depends on the longer term objectives.

It's the country's highest honour. He will want to be there to receive that just as he was present to receive his G.C.O.N.

njiasi30:
Ur NUM one mistake was always checkmating him, and now dat u ve found what u re looking 4, u can't handle it anymore. My mentor will always say u need to b blind and deaf to enjoy ur marriage.

My friend once had dis exp, her own case was so bad to d extent her hubby brings dem home and in his office 2. She knew most of dem, d man also slept with d wife sis 2. Dere was nothing she didn't do, couldn't divorce him BC of d kids. She later accepted it as her fate and left everything to God cheesy

I advised her to get herself busy, change her circle of friends, improve on her looks, dress sexy at home, when she's at work 2 (BC she later got a job) chat/talk dirty with him and when she comes back, she shld give him a mind blowing... cheesy to ease d stress of d day. She shld also learn to ignore and reduce quarrels, know his likes and dislikes.

She should always make sure dey hang out at weekends and tell him d bills will b on her (men likes free things grin) . whenever dey re chatting she should always give him a listening ears and no blames....not to bore u... grin thing went on fine, tho it wasn't easy but God saw her tru. Today, even if a woman is naked infront of him, it does nt move him at all rather he will even insult u and help u 2 cover up grin

Ur marriage and happiness is in ur hands dear, always learn to forgive so u can free ur mind and b happy and try ur best to take d position of dat phone lol. I wish u all d best wink
Your mentor got this part wrong @bolded.You see and you hear and decide by wisdom what you want to do with what you saw or heard, not remain blind or deaf.
The case you narrated doesn't always end up well as you have written. Some end up with the man marrying a second wife, fathering kids all over the place or getting infected with a deadly disease ot death. That man changed only because God turned him around.

Men should take responsibility for their ways and not make it look like the woman isn't doing enough.

freecocoa:
Can it be called love when it is based on physical appearance or money?

Even if they were friends before it happened, friends are subject to change, so...
That's what I'm saying. The 'love' that comes based on physical appearance can change because physical appearance changes.

Frendship is subject to change as you rightly said but I've looked at several people I know who found friendship first that developed into love and years later,I still see that love between them.
Family › Re: Do You Really Love The Person You Married? by thorpido(m): 11:09pm On Oct 26, 2016
freecocoa:
Thing is, due to popular belief, there shouldn't be conditions in love, therefore a person is love, isn't supposed to change, regardless of what their partner become.

I don't see how that is possible, which is why I'm starting to rethink this whole love thing. huh
It depends on what brought about the love.Did he fall in love because of her physical features and did she fall in love because of his financial status and physical appearance? If that is an issue, things might change with time.
If however they fell in love after they had developed a friendship first,it's usually strong enough to sustain them.

NL1960:
I perfectly understand what you say. Even for trading, you need capital to start. Can you start a trading with 10k?. My point is that you have to first accumulate before you now decide what you want to do. A child's saving account is an accumulation. There are people who have only 1k that they can afford to be putting in every month. What type of trading will you tell such a person to start with that 1k. Sound financial advise is that you accumulate first in a savings account and when it is something substantial, you move it to risk free investments like bonds or treasury bills. Do not forget trading can lead to serious loss and a wipe-out of the entire initial capital.
You're right but what if that N10k goes into some form of insurance plan?Still better than a savings account.
Family › Re: 5 Reasons You Need To Open A Savings Account For Your Child by thorpido(m): 5:16pm On Oct 26, 2016
NL1960:
What iam saying is that will you not accumulate the money somewhere first before buying government bonds?. A child Savings account is not supposed to be an account that you dump a big lump sum into at once. It is suppose to be an account that you deposit a consistent amount at a defined frequency. So, if somebody wants to be depositing a fixed 10k amount every month into a child's savings account, should the person not do that but instead go and buy government bonds of 10k for that month and then at the end of the next month, he goes again to buy another government bond of 10k?. Do not forget that some banks demand for a minimum amount for government bonds and treasury bills.
I understand what you are saying.I just used government bond as an example.Trading can be another use of that money.Like I said,I'm not a financial expert but what I'm emphasising is that putting that money into a savings account yields very little returns.
