Omololu001:I'm a Lagosian from Lagos Island. Registered voters in Lagos are already poised to show APC that the governorship is no party's birthright. You just make the mistake of replacing Ambode, and APC's nightmare in Osun will become reality in Lagos State. Maybe you think Mandate group and the Lagos electorate are the same entity. Better humble yourselves and stick with Ambode to ride out the anti-APC public opinion. Else, continue with your arrogance and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. |
cosmatika:Even Buhari's wife made the same complaint that those who campaigned to ensure her husband's victory were sidelined for those who were unseen in the campaign for the presidency. |
If Ambode has not worked well as APC Governor, then maybe it is time to have a change of power to another party in Lagos. Then Tinubu and his Mandate group can enjoy their power in APC as spectators in the governance of Lagos State. Field Ambode and win, replace Ambode and lose. That is the choice the voting public has put before the APC. It is left for APC to decide if it is tired of being in power. |
Seeing the comments above, you realise that most Nigerians are not interested in being honest with themselves as being the problem, but only interested in blaming another. |
Nightmareo07:Very typical mindset of clansmen. |
Alanzazani:For what reasons should the impoverished people of Ekiti have voted for the incumbent PDP, if you assert that they are already tired of the incumbent APC in the case of Osun? |
FarahAideed:I am a rabid anti-PDP due to their immense contributions to our national failure for 16yrs, but who remains objective in the analysis of political issues. Uncensored online media have become a nuisance and tool for anybody's propaganda like this thread hoped to achieve. |
see below reason for call in the 3rd paragraph of the official statement. "Notwithstanding the successful conduct of the elections, the Returning Officer, Professor Joseph Adeola Fuwape, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, has communicated to the commission his inability to make a return in accordance with the legal framework and INEC guidelines."
|
I am sure that if the OP bothered to read the official statement from INEC, you would know why he had to pick/place a call. |
When did Saraki become authority to speak on electoral laws? And this is the same man who is our Senate President who was trying to change the electoral schedule for 2019? The very same man who hid overnight in the National Assembly car park so he could hurriedly conduct the principal officers election the next morning, while his own party members were away at a meeting he ought to have also been present to discuss the Senate presidency choice of the party. He disenfranchised his own party members from voting in their very 1st legislative task, just so as to ensure his own personal victory as the only contestant while handing the minority PDP the Deputy Senate Presidency which PDP never handed any opposition party when they held away. Saraki would find his own payback soon enough. |
Olohunjedalo:You are so confident even when facing the grave possibility of defeat. |
Omisore should negotiate with PDP while APC should negotiate with the 3000+ voters whose decision will carry the day and not Omisore. |
Dele trying his best to appear relevant to both political divide. |
ok |
Every party who thought they had won rejoiced as it is their right to. What matters most is who will rejoice after the dust settles on Sept 27th. |
saaron:If APC led under the same circumstances, it would still have resulted in the same outcome of inconclusive, because the electoral law is not something you apply just because it tickles your fancy. |
Shelumiel:what he has told you is the fact. The exact number of those who will vote on the 27th and their names are already known, being the registered voters in the cancelled polling units, and everyone voting has PVC. So calm your nerves, no one is importing anyone from within Osun or outside Osun to come vote in those specific polling units. And there is no God determining any election in any part of the world. The voting public determine who they want for whatever reasons tickle their fancy. |
LordAdam16:I have never pretended about my anti-PDP political outlook. However, there is no crime debating dissenting opinion when the debate is backed up with statistics, historic references and precedents. If you can appreciate your hatred for APC as a party that has failed expectations, then you would understand my anti-PDP stance of a party that ruled for 16years. The same excitement shown here by people who want any party but APC to win any election, is the same excitement shown by those of us who longed for the day we would never have to deal with PDP again as the party in power at the center. Beyond that, I understand that politics is local, as have been shown by the Ekiti election and Osun election. People would automatically opt for the next alternative to the party that has failed them, which is a victory for the people. If I had my way, everyone who has ever had any business with political office in public service or party service since 1999, would all be cast away and have a rebirth of our political process without an interruption of our democracy which is at best just a civilian rule till now. |
ODUBEZE:You displayed crass idiocy and ignorance of electoral rules, yet you still have the courage to castigate despite your mental lazyness? |
ODUBEZE:Why are supposedly educated Nigerians always embarrassing our educational system? Is it the role of government to force people to vote such that it must be conclusive on the 1st ballot when the competing candidates are running neck to neck? What manner of idiocy is this? |
I hope he will learn from this Osun election and not gamble with his Lagos Governorship fortunes with an unknown Sanwo-Olu. He will just lose flat like I have been telling all those who think it is only APC party members that vote in the main election. Ambode will lose a very democratic direct primary of APC. It is left for Tinubu to ensure he reimposed him on the party like he did 4yrs ago. Anything else, then APC should expect a very narrow win or an outright sack. Then him and his arrogant Mandate group can console themselves with opposition politics in Lagos state. Ambode their enemy, is now their only hope of victory in Lagos State. |
Womenrep:You mean a youth who is looking out for his own family? Which youth doesn't do that? |
FarahAideed:As long as the will of the electorates is respected, whoever they choose with majority votes will govern the state. |
FarahAideed:I thought you knew more than Adeleke and asked him to head to court? I hope your body has calmed down now seeing that even the Adelekes agree with the decision of INEC? |
hucienda:Indeed it is. |
FarahAideed:You have been lamenting without any objectivity since morning. The electoral rules are written and the current situation merits the rerun that has been stipulated. If Adeleke likes he should reject this rerun and proceed to court, the rerun will still hold as already scheduled, and the people will vote and a winner will be declared. |
LordAdam16:I understand your argument. With or without the 1000 votes of Adedaade, it would have still resulted to this same rerun, but with a better headstart for PDP. Whatever the outcome of the rerun, that contested 1000 can still be awarded at the tribunal before hand over date if there is a merit to it and no sound reason why it was recorded as 9k instead of 10k tallied at the Local Government record we have seen. I do not understand myself, why those votes are still absent, in fact, I read many state it here that it was added back to the tally, so I'm surprised it wasn't actually. This is a close election like Ngige vs Akunyili that resulted in similar rerun, or Al Franken vs Norm Coleman (US Senate Minnesota 2008 that resulted in recounts instead of rerun, to declare Democrat Al Franken winner over incumbent Republican Norm Coleman ). |
Naijji:This is the most critical statistic to begin with planning for the rerun election by both APC and PDP. |
LaCruzz:They did not cancel the election, it was inconclusive and satisfied that situation as the margin of victory was less than cancelled votes. The number of registered voters in the cancelled polling units will vote to determine the final result. This is democracy and written electoral law. |
LordAdam16:Many have argued over the 1K votes that PDP had or did not have in Ayedaade, and I recall many debating whether PDP had 10k+ or 9K+ votes since early morning. If indeed there is any merit to the claim form either party and recorded votes are still disputed, then that must be resolved also. From what has been declared officially, the rerun is the outcome as already stipulated by law, so there should be no surprises or sentiments attached to a decision that was already merited and expected. Whatever the outcome of the rerun for 3000+ votes on September 27, both parties still have the right to challenge at the tribunal, every single vote won by the other. No time for idiotic sentiments in matters that are straightforward. |
Sharpshooota:Are you saying it was conclusive with a victory margin of 350 and cancelled votes of over 3000, then INEC suddenly rewrote the electoral laws overnight? What manner of educated idiots populate this country? The rule is sacrosanct and would not be cast away to make you feel better. |
kaluxy007:So those supporting him with votes in Osun and updates on Nairaland are Fulani or Ijaw? |
