naijapips04:The legally obtained statement is as regards the driver's license she referenced, which many have unwittingly found themselves in such mess and voiced out here. I am not defending Adeosun for being from my tribe, I am defending her circumstances that applies to many Nigerians in the diaspora. And I still fault her for bothering about the NYSC exemption to begin with. |
vingeophysicist:The only bias I have betrayed here is a bias towards the circumstances of the Nigerian in the diaspora. Many who have bothered to reply my post here seem to think that the NYSC is so important to the daily living of the Nigerian who knows US or Europe as their home or society, talkless of those who were actually born abroad and lived all their lives there. NYSC only becomes relevant when they opt to associate with Nigeria that was previously just a holiday destination for family engagements and functions. So we as Nigerians need to understand and be rational in analysing such circumstances. This is not a defence of forgery, and that is why I even fault her for even bothering to enquire about something that ought to be an irrelevant forgotten past, that should not matter as regards her Nigerianess that she embraced in adulthood. Many are faulting her that why didn't she come back to serve when she graduated as though she deliberately hid from Nigeria, that was of no significance to her life then. In fact, some have painted a picture of criminality when an American or Briton or German who is Nigerian only by ancestral heritage, refuses to come to Nigeria (that they may have never visited before) to serve in the NYSC scheme. That is the perspective I and Alibaba have tried to bring to the fore. The perspective of the American or Briton that might one day return to his/her heritage, while the irrational Nigerian mob chorus, "why didn't you come to serve NYSC when you graduated from the University of Munich or Stanford 20yrs ago when you were 22yrs old?". CC: ehissi, safarigirl. |
ehissi:Interesting feedback. So are you saying anyone who qualified to serve at the age of their university graduation, are still legitimately allowed to be mobilised for NYSC even when they are already adults? Is that arrangement allowed as per NYSC statutes? All I have been harping about is her circumstances being a Briton living in her foreign society where she had no business with NYSC then. This same circumstance is still prevalent with many foreigners of Nigerian heritage, who may someday want to associate with their Nigerian roots and work with the Nigerian government in public office. |
naijapips04:Yes we all know she is not entitled to any exemption, the reason why I blame her for bothering to enquire over something that she did not need and has proven by precedent not to be a stumbling block to securing government jobs if you have the right circumstances as she did. |
safarigirl:Why should one be prosecuted for an illegal license that was legally obtained? Why should the law abiding Nigerian be punished for the corruption that is perpetrated in a government office? If she wasn't sure, she wouldn't have submitted the document. She never claimed she served. She got an exemption she thought was legitimate. It wasn't an exemption that was dated to hide when she got it. She should have simply been told that she did not qualify at all for the said exemption. I do not support any forgery of any kind and should never be the norm. Most especially, the civil servants in the government offices that engage in such should all be apprehended. |
ehissi:Dude all that you know about NYSC is because you were resident in Nigeria and schooled in Nigeria or abroad. The Nigerian who was born American or Briton, does not know anything about your NYSC within the American or British society. So there are many Americans and Britons of Nigerian heritage who have graduated early and proceeded to secure jobs in their foreign society that they know as home. If any circumstances make them begin to associate with Nigeria in their adult years and obtain a Nigerian passport due to their heritage, are you telling me you will be asking them why they did not come and serve in a Nigeria that was not their country or society at the time they were living their distant life in UK or USA with their family? I repeat, that the mistake Adeosun made was even bothering to enquire about getting any exemption from NYSC. Even those who are known to have had parents resident in Nigeria and even had part of their own education in Nigeria, went abroad for studies and never looked back as per NYSC, only to take government jobs later on and never resigned when it became news that they never serve or got NYSC exemption. Adeosun should have just disregarded NYSC altogether. Her nationality and residential circumstances at the time she was young enough to qualify for NYSC in a far away foreign Nigeria, would have been enough waiver to hold on to whatever government office she might have been in charge of. |
PrecisionFx:Like they disowned Stella Oduah with false academic qualifications? |
naijapips04:That is what her associates should have told her and the NYSC officials that produced a fake. She would have worked in government without it like Diezani Madueke did, who was not even resident abroad like Adeosun who was academically isolated from Nigeria. |
bettercreature:Same happened to me and it was even the registration form copy for the driver's license that was post dated without my consent. The police stopped me and wanted to arrest me for forgery of government document that I had obtained at the right government office. |
ontarioissauga:How is it an epistle to reply you who quoted me. And how is Kemi Adeosun my saviour? I reckon I was wrong to think you were mature for a civil debate. |
Allwility:No it is not a crime and I know she worked there just as many expatriates working in Nigeria. Or is she not Briton? Infact, I know of a Nigerian who schooled up till university level in Nigeria, then went on to Canada for Master's and got his immigration papers there. He later came to work with his multinational oil firm who redeployed him to Nigeria to work and live with the benefits accorded to expatriates. So yes she can work in any private firm in Nigeria as an expatriate that she was. |
freshboi88:That is the frustrated Nigerian for you. Some of them actually depend on the stipends sent from their diaspora family. |
FarahAideed:Good of you to say the bolded, and she did do so as you opined, but has now realised it was a fake document she got from NYSC, because they really don't give such exemptions with such circumstances however genuine they are. |
ontarioissauga:But these same Nigerians are celebrated here. Or do we not celebrate the likes of John Boyega or Jidenna? Do we not celebrate the many music and movies stars that are Nigerian? Do we not celebrate the likes of Chinwetei Ejiofor or the many Nigerians who are currently full fledged Americans and Britons and are university graduates in the only society they know? Do you think they are that attached to Nigeria to know that there is some NYSC obligation on them because their ancestors were Nigerians? Please reason intelligently and rationally. We all have them as our family |
ontarioissauga:No qualms with your feelings bro. However, they are still Nigerians and have every right to return to a country they were not born in whenever it suits them. Its just like expecting that UK Yoruba family with quadruplets who all attended Cambridge or so, to come and do an NYSC in Nigeria that they know nothing about and do not have any residential interest in for now. But does that stop them from associating with Nigeria much later? Only Nigerians who departed the shores as teenagers to pursue foreign degrees return to the Nigeria they left to undertake the NYSC, not Nigerians who are "diasporans" and only know Nigeria for now as a patch on the world map. Yet it is their country too by ancestral heritage, to return to whenever they please. |
EternalTruths:There is nothing to live with that justice was done, as it ought to be. How is her resignation worse than the sacking of the thief Tafa Balogun or that of Minister Sunday Afolabi and Alhaji Akwanga or Minister Fabian Osuji all under Obasanjo? Or the resignation of Prof Adenike Grange and the conviction of Elewon Bode George under Yar'Adua. I hope you are brilliant enough to understand that whatever corruption enabling approach to governance that you have termed politics of humanity, is the very reason Jonathan was unable to demonstrate leadership over any issue, and his lack of will to tackle any corruption case involving his appointees, helping to lead to his sack from office by the same regions that had supported him earlier and were not clannish like the SouthEast. How was that sack by the voting public a lesson in political survival? |
EternalTruths:What same? Was she recontesting a national office as an incumbent and was sacked by the voting public? Or that she resigned when the likes of Stella Oduah held on to their seats in government and eventually rewarded with a Senate ticket for her embezzlement and false academic qualifications, isn't enough proof to you why Jonathan could not convince the electorate that he deserved a 2nd term? |
EternalTruths:How is it a betrayal voting out the same President that had been previously supported, tested and had failed, hence a well merited sack? So when 3 out of 4 Igbo states and Rivers state voted the Northern Tofa over their fellow Southerner Abiola in 1993, they did not know they were betraying a Southerner who they did not even give the benefit of a first term support like Jonathan got from the SouthWest and MiddleBelt? |
If she was 55yrs old 3yrs ago, then she is rightly 58yrs old now. |
Xander85:I will admit that I reply Igbo hatred with like hatred. But I will never tell a lie to win an argument. I only deal with facts without the need for political correctness. My problem with Igbos is that they are a tribe that are bereft of any political correctness by nature. They feel it is their prerogative to talk about other tribes and their culture and their leaders as they choose to see them, but will never entertain same discussions about their own. You are highly territorial and protective of your own, while not caring to lay to waste and derision all that others hold dear. So yes, If I see an Igbo despising my tribe or Nigeria that they loved while in the corridors of power, he becomes a worthy recipient of my own hate too. Let the Igbo continue to talk as they like, others too can talk as they like with the same reckless abandon we have learnt from the Igbos. |
Xander85:I have never stopped your state assemblies from discussing separation from Nigeria. I have never stopped any of your federal law makers from taking it up at the National Assembly. It is not my duty to campaign on your behalf or to appeal to my own state and federal legislators to do for you what your own legislators have not deemed fit to do. In fact, if anything, I have engaged IPOB agents on the futility of their current approach as outsiders who have not been enfranchised to lead anyone or speak for anyone. I have advocated that they seize power democratically using loyalists who would not betray their cause, and then being at the discussion table, make their case without any fear of arrest or assault. Instead, you are all depending on "coward and treacherous" Yoruba politicians to speak on your behalf and castigate the federal government, while your own "brave" politicians are both dumb and deaf now, while waiting in line hoping to reap some political concessions from the phoney crisis. Same politicians you care not to replace with IPOB loyalists. |
wowcatty:Oti ooo! Igbos don't commit any evil, rather they are the ones who have evil committed against them. Lagos-Ibadam press of Afonja have only told lies against the Igbos. In fact, I have once debated a self righteous Igbo on this forum who posited that it was wicked Yoruba press that exacerbated the post coup pogrom in the North by reporting on the gloating of the Igbo. As though the Fulani man in Kaduna or Kano needed to read or hear news from the SouthWest about the jubilations of the Igbos in the same Northern markets were both traded, with the Igbo personally reminding him how they killed their leader and he was crying and begging like a ram poised to be slaughtered. |
wowcatty:No need for the fear mongering. They cannot kill anybody, that wild demonic spirit of theirs that saw no wrong in ending the lives of others, while still celebrating the killings amongst the natives whose leaders and brightest prospects they killed, has been exorcised from their body. Did you ever hear of Igbos associating with coups again since January 1966? Even that coup that they celebrated all over the North and gloating like suicidal fools, they have since denied it claiming that it was a national coup because they had 1 deceived Yoruba Major out of 8 to 9 Igbo Majors, and Major Hassan Katsina was held at gun point by Major Nzeogwu during the coup execution to state what side he belongs to, and he smartly replied he was with Nzeogwu, that made it a national coup. They now even deny Nzeogwu all together, claiming he was MidWest Igbo, so it was not an Igbo coup. As if it was Nzeogwu that killed Largema and Maimalari in Lagos, or Akintola in Ibadan. Of course, they also don't forget to mention a litany of low rank Northern foot soldiers whom Nzeogwu never told what mission they were training for. In fact, the Yoruba soldier who opposed him when their mission was disclosed to them, was killed right there on the spot. |
BabaRamota1980:It is even okay to be ashamed of the past misdeeds of ones forebears, but trying to paint me as Igbo hating as though I care to be politically correct against a rabid loquacious hate mongering clan, who sidelined others to ensure they have it all to themselves like a dog in a manger, yet are always eager to talk rubbish about the political leaders of every other section of the country, but when others talk facts about theirs, they are Igbo hating? That "Igbo sense" can work on the feeble minded who have no knowledge of factual history. |
Xander85:That you cannot stomach your history is not my problem. How I come across to you is irrelevant to the facts that history reminds us. Even I will be ashamed of all the factual and historic tribalism exhibited and perpetrated by the Azikiwe gang in the 1960 independence government, over federal positions that should not have been the exclusive preserve of a gluttonous tribe. And I'm sure that the details of the topic showed that as it was done by the Igbos in the 1960s, so was it in the very recent Jonathan era by the Igbos. We will talk about it, without regard to your emotional frailty. |
CoolFreeday:Please ask again ooo. They said Adeosun with a Bachelor's degree is a common polytechnic graduate because the university used to be a polytechnic. Now a graduate of ABU and OOU (OSU) is not good enough to hold office in her own country. Many need to get it through their thick skull that the Finance Minister portfolio is not the birthright of anybody in this country. As others came and left, so did Okonjo Iweala came and left. She has done her bit and has moved on. It is not her birth right, and the economy did not have anything to show for all the oil revenue due to high oil price sales that was made during her tenure. With all the petrodollar earnings, she still piled up billions of dollars in debt while running down government savings, and managed to become the first Finance Minister tenure that could not increase the foreign reserve but reduced it by 35%. World bank or IMF work experience is not a prerequisite for appointing a Finance Minister in any part of the world. |
That's the Azikiwe way of meritocracy. The 1960 government of Tafawa Balewa / Azikiwe comes to mind. Since the North could not fill most positions due to educational handicap, Azikiwe ensured the bulk of it went to his Igbo brothers in the NCNC, while the crumbs were left for the Western NCNC and Eastern minorities. In fact, some federal positions were dedicated Igbo portfolios and in some cases where changes needed to be made, the position passed on to a succession of Igbos only. When Igbo's lament about marginalization or meritocracy, it is because they miss their tribal exploits in the 1960s, when merit meant Igbo, regardless of who was more qualified. |
NORSIYK:Are you too daft to understand what she wrote in her resignation? Or did you read that she left Nigeria as a teenager to go study in a university abroad, thereby necessitating the customary return to Nigeria that only exist in your own imagination? She only visited Nigeria with her British passport on occasions. She was never a resident of Nigeria until she was 34yrs. Till today, her parents still reside in the UK where she was born. Her interests in Nigeria only began long after she had passed the age to serve. Many Nigerians born and resident in the UK have graduated below the age of 30yrs, yet they do not come to Nigeria for any NYSC because they do not have any business with Nigeria besides visiting when a grandparent died or a cousin was wedding. That they do not have any interest with Nigeria now does not mean they might not show an interest later. These are the same type of Nigerians that are daily celebrated here on this forum, as working with Google or Facebook or NASA or the White House. Nigerians in the diaspora, like the ones that were on hand to receive the vice president when he visited Google in the US. Nigerians that don't even know that anything called NYSC exist as it remains irrelevant to them, until the day they decide they want to be Nigerians and not American or Briton. So by default she made enquires about securing an exemption, and one was certainly obtained through her associates from NYSC but fake. It was not obtained under the bridge at Obalende. It was certainly obtained from NYSC officials who gave a document that was not the legitimate issue. Many Nigerians currently hold particulars that they think is legitimate having been obtained at the legitimate relevant government office, yet they are invalid. |
I really like how Wizkid has handled this Binta of a groupie. After all the famzing with Akon and Samuel Etoo who were obviously smarter when dealing with groupies, she found a foolish and young Wizkid who couldn't resist the temptation of a Delilah, and believed the "I'm on a pill" bullcrap. She was the one who certainly chose to get pregnant and quickly named her yet to be accepted child all the names of Wizkid, all in a bid to secure her economic future. Wizkid never intended having those kids, except his 3rd child, hence his reluctance to spend time with the previous ones. They are still his responsibility though, mistake or planned. Na that young CEO wey get im mama protruding forehead I pity the most. A product of teenage lust, turned pregnancy. |
JERRYDON005:Saraki that already had a fraud case hanging on his neck since 1992 or thereabout? You mean the same Saraki that hid overnight in the car park of the National Assembly like a burglar, so as to spring a surprise against his own party members by denying them of the opportunity to participate in the election of principal officers, knowing fully well that they would be at another location that he also ought to have been to resolve who his party was to support for the Senate Presidency? A man who actually resolved that he would disenfranchise his own fellow party senators from voting in their very first legislative task, just so he could win the Senate Presidency, and hand over the deputy role to the opposition so he could have his own prize? What manner of human being is that fellow who has no honour? The only job that kind of selfish, devious and cunning snake deserves is the role of a car park security man at a government office. |
The Buhari reelection is being kept alive by the kind of opposition we have challenging him. The PDP that criticizes his regime both with merit and without merit, are a brand that is damaged with the electorate. The manner of presidential aspirants that have come out in that PDP, are the same corrupt fat cats that have been at the helm of affairs at different tiers and arms of government since the start of this false democracy in 1999. As long as PDP posses a possible return to the same power from which we sacked them after 16yrs of failure in security, infrastructure, education and healthcare delivery, then Buhari who has failed like them, would remain a potential winner of the election that boasts of failures as candidates. |
Coming from the same sacked President who after his dismissal still reenacted his divisive politics in his home state that failed him at the national level, saying the people of Bayelsa should vote Dickson for a 2nd term because PDP is an Ijaw party. One would think the opposition candidates in a homogeneous Ijaw state of Bayelsa, are not also Ijaw as Dickson and Jonathan. |
