I have read many comments on Nairaland and surprisingly, some Yoruba people are making the same mistakes and that is the reason for this short corrections before we unconsciously re-colonised, igbolised or yoruelished our languages.

Have seen people spelt "ponmo" as kponmo, "were" as Kwere or werey, pele as kpele etc.

Please take note that two consonants are never together in Yoruba writings. There is nothing like 'kp' or 'pk' or any of such in Yoruba alphabet or vowels. The only exception is 'gb' which is a single consonant.

I am not a Yoruba professor nor an expert in Yoruba language, I was only trying to remember what I was thought by my teachers in primary and secondary schools.

When next you put two consonants together while writing a Yoruba words except 'gb', remember you are wrong.

PoliticsRe: With The Rate Of Nulifications Of Elections, I Hope Jegga Is Not Being Mocked by thunder74(m): 4:42pm On Dec 07, 2015
Jega was partly successful because of the leader he got. GEJ wanted to leave the legacy of free and fair election and JEGA keyed into it. The government gave the INEC, money, security, body language etc to succeed.
The present leaders problem started with the appointment of Zakari as acting Inec chair. Jega started well but spoilt it on brotherhood at a later day of his tenure

Even devil himself is ashamed of this your blantant lie, self deceit and hypocrisy.

There was freedom when oshiomoles plane was grounded, there was freedom when Ameachi's convoy was blocked by my armed friends, there was freedom, there was freedom when Fayose was using hooded security operatives in Ekiti during election, in there was so much freedom during the Ekiti gate plan, there was so much freedom when the military were clamping down on the press and seizing news papers.....cant you see so much freedom during Jonathans government?

Bro...aint gat time for sensless plebs, you think u making sense...but just exposing your outright folly and hypocrisy. If you will excuse me....I aint got time for wailing wailers.....
Assuming without conceding that all these happened under GEJ and you, because of that voted for change and continue with the same thing you voted against then you have wasted your change.

To answer why Oshiomole, Amaechi etc were barred. Hope you know some mercenaries were imported to Ekiti during the elections which were successful in Osun State but we're blocked at the eve of Ekiti election.

Hope you read the news of some mercenaries imported to Bayelsa too last week.

For your information Bro, I am not APC or PDP member, I only believe in Nigeria Project. My stand is that both present players of APC and PDP are the same and you don't need to make your blood hot over them. Even if you did not hear us screamed it during election by now you would have seen things for yourself.

Shut up jare....

Una go just dey talk rubbish wey nor follow.

Whats the correlation b/w ur statement and the thread?

Are u saying their was no violence during elections in Jonathans government. ..

What happened in Rivers?

Mr man you are nor part of thr "WE" u used in your statement....you were part of the Jonathan till 2019 crew now screaming biafra till I die.

Just gerrraaahahear....
Naturally I don't reply any response to my post laced with insult and bitterness but I later find out that we have so many kids on Nairaland that are either trained and refused/rejected/ignored the parental training or Outrightly not trained and that is why most of them hide under keyboards to insult those they don't even know and vomit venom whenever anybody does not share their opinions.

Back to the issue. The correlation is the reason why you responded to my post bc you got my message and the reasons you cited Rivers.

Was there election at midnight during GEJ time? Was it not the same desperado of the APC in Rivers that led to the violence you sighted? Was there any evidence of collusion with the INEC or federal government in those violence in the state you cited?

I used the word "we" sarcastically and I was never part of the change crew bc what an elder saw sitting a child can't see it even on a tree. I witnessed part of Buhari government in 1984 and can't make the mistake of supporting him again but since he has been declared the President, he has become our president. My one vote did not make much difference. All I need to do is to pray for him to succeed and understand that the same people that destroyed GEJ Government are the majority in his government.

I am a Remo man, Sagamu precisely, be mature and stop suspecting everybody on the Internet as Ibos. Nigeria can only get better when we see ourselves as brothers.

Finally, you can make more sense when you learn to discuss on a public forum without insults. Have a blessed week dear.

Whoever thought there'd come a time when almighty indomitable PDP would be wailing like some nappy headed adolescents?? cheesy

I hope what they are saying is true!!

We've not forgotten the horrors suffered by APC chieftains in the hands of DSS during Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun elections.

Neither have we forgotten how PDP used policemen in their vans to escort OPC members as they marched on the streets of Lagos, brandishing guns and machetes harassing and intimidating members of the public, and destroying APC billboards in the days leading up to the last presidential elections.

At least then we saw pics and videos. In this case, noise is all we hear.

PDP used federal might and all devious means conceivable to wrestle power off APC in Ekiti state- a state that was comfortably in the hands of the then opposition- HEAVEN DID NOT FALL. APC went back, licked her wounds and restrategised.

They used the Police to harass Tambuwal and other APC law makers, and Heaven did not fall. If Baba does same (which I know he wouldn't given the democrat he is), HEAVEN WILL NOT FALL!!

#WeDontForget!!
Is it not because of the above you voted for change? If your so called change continue with the status quo, then either you have been scammed or you don't know the meaning of change.

How many camps have you been to before you conclude that it is the worst camp in Nigeria? You even have water and only 42 persons in the room?
If I may ask, before going to serve, where do you get water from your community? Probably, you buy from mallam or from your neighbor selling borehole or well water.
The camp is still part of Nigeria, nothing has changed.

We stumbled on this article on a page with the heading MUST READ - News and Essays. It seems to be bringing a perspective to the naughty issue of the kidnap of over 200 girls from Chibok in April 2014.

=============

By John Darlington

In the run-up to 2015 general elections part of the campaign promises of the All Progressives’ Congress was a double assurance that should they have our votes and be voted into power the abducted girls in the dead of the night from a school dormitory at Chibok will be rescued and reunited with their families. This sounded encouraging and thus drew the attention of Nigerians and the international community.

The then federal government under former President Jonathan was seen as none other than a clueless regime that must be jettisoned at all costs and this was followed by growing impatience as the nation waited anxiously for May 29 to send the administration packing and as luck would have it this was achieved by instrumentality of the ballot box in the general elections that took place on March 28 this year.

‘Chibok girls’ as they are fondly called was used to score cheap political points and so much noise was made. The former President everyone would recall had his reservations when the news of the ‘abductees’ first hit the nation’s airwaves. It soon made news headlines and was widely reported by the world press and former President Jonathan was given two options either he produces the girls which his ‘cluelessness’ has occasioned or immediately relinquishes his hold on power.

Several demonstrations by Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora commenced to pressurize President Jonathan to produce the abductees. I too was enraged in no small measure against the seeming inaction of the former administration under President Jonathan considering the agonizing pains the parents were passing through over the sudden loss of their children to the devil-may-care jihadist insurgents.

The All Progressives’ Congress held tenaciously to this Chibok story and had everyone taken in that gave them that magnetic pull. As luck would have it, the elections were held which, reports say, they won by a landslide. Buhari assumed the reign of power on May 29, 2015, and six calendar months on nothing has been said about the Chibok girls or the efforts in place to rescue them from their abductors and the story is gradually disappearing like a fading star in the firmament.

The babel of voices that trailed the abduction of the girls have suddenly become extinct and the parent’s like receding hills have thinned out. Ah… this brings so many things to the mind of this author. Could we have been fooled with the Chibok story by a cast of neophyte actors to solicit for votes all in a bid to get to power? Did they really deserve our votes? Life appears to be going increasingly uphill in Nigeria since they took over power about six months ago amid pleas for patience by the Nigerian regime inAbuja and this leaves me astounded in no small measure.

What about what looked like sponsored protests at the period under sad review? Who were the people whose services were retained? How much were they paid for this massive fraud, hypocrisy, and a range of elaborate deceptions?

This writer can infer that lies, deceit were designed on whose back they rode to power in that nothing has been heard about the parents nor the relatives of the purported abductees. Buhari who capitalized on the Chibok story to attract our votes has suddenly gone as quiet as he could be. This is very disheartening!

Now the question is: Were there ever abductees from a secondary grammar school dormitory at Chibok? Why has the fiery noise eventually thinned out? Were the Chibok girls mere non-existent spooks and phantoms, a mere hallucinatory, delusional fantasy designed to bamboozle the generality of Nigerians in a criminal bid to solicit for votes? We have a burning desire to know.

Iyoha John Darlington, a scholar, social activist, public commentator on national and global issues writes from Turin, Italy.
