If PDP fails next year, it would be largely due to GEJ's lack of planning towards 2015 in the first place. I mean, all these marginalisation stuff to me shows initial intent of not wanting to pursue a second term, there must have been an 'abrupt' change of decision, and for obj and his cohorts,'something happened on the way to heaven'. GEJ did not plan this well, he did not carry his party members along, on the way, he decided to make a u-turn, and yes! Imposition becomes the only tool (and we call this democracy?)
With huge support from a large voting population from the north APC only requires to sweep off another zone to ensure a vital win. SE and SS is out of it because no matter who they field (even if it is rochas or amaechi), they would still give their votes to GEJ. Now that remains the SW, there has been lot (awful lot) of grumbling from SW that they have largely been abandoned (in terms of key positions and all) by this administration, with a GEJ/SAMBO combination SW can only be sure it would get worse, as in, now that GEJ has second term agenda at stake, he still went ahead and neglected sw, so if he enters, he surely will only become worse and SW will be crumpled down the ladder...
Now APC are fielding prof. Osinbajo so as to win the SW.
GEJ should have seen that coming...
NB: I am not canvassing for anybody/party, am just a neutral analyst, what's ur take on this?
1. Buhari was governor of Borno state under Obasanjo regime and later minister of petroleum.
 2. Buhari birthed and supervised the establishment of the existing refineries in NIGERIA.
3. He was head of state between 1983-1985 (a period of 20 months). There was no religious crisis while he was head of state.
4. He reduced inflation from 23% to 4% by fiscal discipline and home grown economic team (not achieved under any other era).
5. J.J. Rawlings of Ghana took over 2 years before him and killed all the corrupt leaders, while Buhari only sentenced the corrupt leaders in Nigeria to prison.
6. Under his watch as PTF chairman, what he did in road construction in that short period hasn’t been matched by 12 years of the PDP. Hospitals and universities around the country never witnessed as much benefits as they got from the PTF from any government after or before his time.
7. He refused to collect allowance while serving as chairman of the PTF because he said he was already drawing a pension from government, his conscience would not allow him to draw another salary from the purse of same government.
8. He returned excess money spent to purse of government on his return from oversea training as a military officer
9. He is the only former head of state that does not own property or land in Abuja.
10. Buhari personally recommended late Dora Akunyili to OBJ because of her diligence during PTF interaction. Every attempt to rubbish him through probes in time past ended up vindicating him! The man who was asked by OBJ to take over PTF before it was scrapped with the aim of indicting Buhari ended up being prosecuted for misappropriatin g $100 million of PTF funds!
11. His personal driver and cook of many years are christians He has OPENLY challenged those who accuse him of religious fundamentalism to come out and show proof. No one has till today taken up the challenge.
12. He is the ONLY politician in northern Nigeria today who fills rallies without renting a crowd! People who know him (including pastor Bakare) have said of him……” All I need from Buhari is his word, I can take it to the bank”. If honesty and probity are the things you want for Nigeria, now is the time to choose right. ”Conscience is an opened wound, only truth can heal it”
MizMyColi: Someone said and I quote:- "Worry about your character, not your reputation. Character is who you are, Reputation is what others think you are
^^^ I agree and I disagree
Character and Reputation go hand in hand. Reputation is the root of being in a position of leadership or influence. It is built over a period of time....One deed at a time, one action after another.
It is easily lost!
You should never down play one at the expense of the other. Reputation is built as a result of character. If there's a massive change in character, because it cannot be hidden, there will be a massive change in reputation too. (Except of course, a person chooses to lead a dismal false life).
^^^ Against this backdrop, on both counts, you should be worried. No man exists in and of himself. We are social and dependent beings.
It is only natural for every human to want to maintain goodwill among his fellow humans, it may even be bad will......depending on how he or she started out. I believe that there is a yearning in every sane person to self improve....to project self towards the path of perfection, to be a better person, for the greater good.
How each person defines "better and perfect" remains relative and at best what they should decide for themselves.
But one very important and cannot be ignored factor we can use to measure our progress vis a vis our character and relations with others is -- Public Opinion
Publics differ for different people, and are similar in some cases.
Publics in this context would mean small (and sometimes large) groups of people who follow you very closely. They are well informed about you and also have a very strong opinion of you. They tend to know more about you than the "average" person, and, therefore, exert more influence, because these people care so deeply about you that they donate time, treasure and talent to you than "others" (outsiders) ordinarily would.
Simply put; Without Them, There Would Be No You.
This is not to say that you should commence living your life based on your publics opinion......
No No. Wisdom Remains Profitable To Direct
Be Your Best Self Be Original Do Whatever Pleases And Makes You Happy.
But as a checks and balance of sorts......just know that people are watching.
Ultimately, we serve our reputation best by putting forth our best self and letting our character speak for itself.
mizmycoli where have you been?
I aint down with d reputation stuff ma *ter speaks for me...
djon78: OBJ is the biggest problem that has been bedeviling this nation, and he must get his reward, he wont escape it. He sowed the evil seeds that messed up this present democratic era, and he is not a sincere man. It was only Abacha who does nt respect anybody knew how to handle his type, it was just grace of God that saved him and when he came out from prison he did worst things. It is those that have nothing meaningful doing that will waste their prescious and valuable time to read something from a dishonest, insincere, vile and wicked man like Obj. But one thing I know is that he will not go unpunished.
but none the less, he might have some iota of truth that might sharpen our political future, he is definitely not a hero, but his tales might hold weight...
With the release of Obj's book titled 'my watch' there has been different accusations and brain twisting information which he made available in his book, hence, reactions. Here are some schools of thought...
1) The foolish ones: this 'baba' is a talkative, he talks too much...
2) Ignorant ones: this guy should just go and rest...
3) Political/ethnic bigots: anyhow, GEJ till death
4) Inquisitive ones: I can't wait to get political reactions...what will GEJ say?
5) Watchful ones: now this is getting interesting
6)Wise ones: now let's filter, there must still be some particles of truth in all these...
7)Political retards: this man is jus looking for fame...
8 Political wise fools: obj headed a corrupt administration, so everything he says now is tantamount to useless
What are you guys saying? I do still have sunday shower with my family (son,2yrs + wife), we always look up to it cos its fun, but when he grows some few months now we will be forced to stop...
What we should do (as nigerians) is to filter what obj has written in his book, there surely will be iota of truth but the foolish ones will rush to conclusion. Obj,thumbs up for your courage...
ItsMeAboki: Quite on the contrary, you are the one lacking in intellect and objectivity to appreciate an openly factual point without giving it a bias twist.
I still stand by my statement; you can twist it as much as you like, its out there for all to judge, as there was no disrespect or intent to disrespect Christians.
Yes, I said the global media is dominated by Christians; pls tell me if that is not true and show me how could that possibly be construed as an insult or attack against Christians. Its is also my opinion that said media often portrays Islam in a bad light (though again, you are free to disagree) - how is that an insult or disrespectful?
The only religious bigotry you need to fear is the one in your mind as none has so far been expressed either by the OP or in any of my posts.
Your so called bone of contention is baseless because the videos clips were simply to corroborate my point rather than a prediction of the demise of Christianity or a call for conversion nor a forecast of my fate in the after life (though hopefully heaven) -yet again, its all in the figment of your obviously wandering imagination.
ItsMeAboki: My friend, refer to my post again and show me where I inferred he was disrespectful or where I took offence to what he said? You'll find none; so pls do not twist things into what is not there.
BTW, your diversified religious family background is quite irrelevant to the issue at hand - no disrespect.
I still maintain my position i.e. that though it be news to the OP (and the likes of him) that Muslims (in this case, allegedly a cleric) converted to Christianity; while it is no longer news to us Muslims (though highly welcomed) to note Christians (including prominent ones) converting to Islam because it has been happening all the time - there are so many examples out there in youtube etc.
See documentary on famous ppl who converted to Islam:
You need to understand more, I hope you are mature enough (sincerely hope) to catch my drift or else don't quote me...
even with all the negative publicity through the largely Christian dominated global media (though I am sure you'll want to disagree).
The above statement is an attempt of an intended subtle attack (which is not as this can open a pandora bigotry reaction), this is a statement that depicts defensiveness of your religion and also implying a disrespect to christians as a whole, what other statement could be more religious bigotry than what has been stated above? And you have not disrespected?
2) I only stated my family background so that other few intelligent people reading would understand that I am devoid of religious sentiments (wonder why you did not get that).no disrespect
My bone of contention is that, you can decide to post more than 5 million online stories of xtians converting to muslims, this does not mean xtianity will end 2moro morning, and vice versa also. Neither does your online support for islam/xtianity will ensure you making heaven, just stay true to your self, be good to everyone and above all, be holy. Doesn't matter if we are black, white, xtians, muslims, yoruba, hausa, etc. We are a people with different ways of life. If you don't get me, honestly, don't quote me...
ItsMeAboki: @op: Sorry to burst your bubble, more Christians are converting to Islam than the other way round. In fact Islam is currently the world's fastest growing religion, even with all the negative publicity through the largely Christian dominated global media (though I am sure you'll want to disagree).
There many more examples of prominent Christians, including holy men converting to Islam; here is one - its nothing new, we are used to it:
A catholic priest from the island of Java in Indonesia who has woken up from a 17 month long coma has converted himself to Islam after the man claims Allah spoke to him and showed him “the beauty of the heavens”.
Here is more of what he had to say:
“I know nothing of Islam. Never once have I read the Quran but God spoke to me and asked me to follow him to the heavens and the Holy light shone through my entire being and behold the golden gates of heaven appeared before me and God told me his name and it was Allah” told the newly convert to a journalist of the Kalimantan Press.
he did say he meant no disrespect, and humbly asked for muslims to truly search within themselves, which (to me) also sends a message to the xtians, before this thread becomes infested with religious bigots, may I state here that we can only co exist, and never imposed on or cajoled (because certain people decided to change faith). Its a pity that no matter what we write here to defend our faith, it cannot guarantee heaven for us. only our character can. whether 50 million people just converted to islam, or xtianity does/can not change our faith as a people with a way of life. Before u talk ill about me, My mum and all her family members are muslims, my dad is a xtian, I am a product of a devoid religious sentiments. God bless islam and christians, may his light shine on us all...
