Mechanic kazeem said The Highland has 6 nozzles .. and i will buy each nozzles .. called one ridiculous price .. i was not even listening ..
and also to spray the 2 bumpas ... front and back .. panel beater kazeem said 15k ..
This is what ikorodu road is costing me .. Sir, you would have to ask him and give accurate details before you can get proper answers. If your highlander has a cylinder engine, then it sure has 6 injector nozzles. BTW showing a non-challant attitude/ lack of interest in details will encourage him to wanna rip you off. |

OriEyeLe: Good morning bosses in the house, I notice that my car is consuming more than what a normal Corolla should. I bought #1000 fuel when the gas sign came out on the dashboard and I only got 17miles on it judging by the time the gas sign came on again. I thought of opening the air filter housing and I found out that the air filter is torn and it was sew with wool, I never check the air filter housing ever since I got the car. Could this be the cause? Was the 6.9 liters of fuel poured into the car immediately the reserve tank indicator came on the first time? You have to factor in the distance covered on reserve tank before refill to increase your accuracy. My advice: * Replace airfilter * Clean MAF meter/ sensor with contact cleaner * Service throttle body. * You might have to reset your throttle body butterfly if it has been adjusted to allow more air in. The above will only clean out the dirt that has already passed through the filter before now and might improve your gas mileage. There are other factors that affect fuel consumption. |

freshvine: Wow. You just cured my ignorance. Believe me it's an intellectual oversight not that I do not know, I just mangled things up my brain possibly cos gazzuzz was asking one VIN guru to get ready to access the data of the new engine he's about to purchase so I assume nonchalantly engine number is same as vin number.
Trust me, it's my mind thinking of the harsh economy to reasoning objectively. Thanks for the heads up Lol. Engines do have VIN tag (detachable) in addition to the engine number. So when you run the VIN on the tag it gives details of what vehicle the engine was sourced from. |
Autos › Re: When GAZZUZZ takes over - RX350 - The Journey by timifakay(m): 10:40am On Jul 26, 2017 |
freshvine: Quick one, how do one convince the police or law enforcement agents that a new engine is sitting in the hood bearing in mind that OEM engine already have it's VIN inscribed at strategic points in the vehicle? To make the answer easy: OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer, used to describe parts/ units/ components outsourced to specialized companies to be produced to specifications of the vehicle or machinery manufacturer. Example is Denso or Bosch producing electronic units like sensors and switches in a Toyota car. This makes Denso or Bosch unit the OEM of that part in the said Toyota car. VIN - Vehicle Identification Number also called Chassis Number is an alphanumeric unique tag on automobiles used to identify every car produced. Engine Number - it is the serial number of a vehicle engine. VIN is not the same thing as Engine Number. The car does not have engine number written on the car body, so what to do after an engine swap is to take vehicle documents and the engine number of the replacement engine to a vehicle licensing office so a new vehicle license with the new engine number will be issued. That way the law enforcement officer won't even know an engine transplant took place already. |

Seems you really want to buy this car and just want opinions though it's very unlikely you change your mind. But here goes my observations. Cost of baking a car: assume 100k Cost of engine (2AZ-FE) replacement: assume 350k Cost of body kit: assume 50k Check engine light: ON Engine RPM at idle: over 1,000 Temperature guage: low Odometer reading: rolled back (what would make anyone change the engine of a car with so little mileage?)
Please do not take my word concerning prices as final. Do a market survey to be sure. |

The O2 code is pending because I cleared the codes, it will come out as current .. All O2 sensors have a heater circuit because the exhaust gas temperature is not high enough for the sensor to read so it needs extra heating up. |

I just got back to Lagos today and to tell you the truth, I'm too scared to drive it anywhere. I no fit shout or push car for road.
I'll just save up and take it to a professional for a proper evaluation, diagnosis or gear box replacement again. I'm sorry about the situation you found yourself, but 1. The very first comment was a free diagnosis from Mayor2013 at Igando, but you ignored and took the option of taking car to Ladipo by yourself. 2. Gazzuzz has his workshop in Ogba, but you were not patient enough to search for his address via his previous posts. 3. Honmusa has his workshop at Osodi-Gbagada expressway, but you didn't take your car there either. You took a risk and followed a Mazda parts dealer to get Honda parts, with hopes it would work out but here you are worse off. I doubt any of the reputable mechanics here will ever touch your car with a 10feet pipe due to your 'smart act' and how quickly we suspect you will want to come discredit them online if anything doesn't go as you expect. Better luck next time sir. Note: It's not that I'm unsympathetic oh, I'm just analyzing the matter as it appears to me. |

Car Talk › Re: Advice Needed As Regards Engine Oil Change by timifakay(m): 9:52am On Jul 20, 2017 |
AutoElectNG: Respectfully disagree.
That engine has no sludge problem.
change to 5w30 but carefully monitor oil consumption for the next 5,000 miles.
At every 500 miles interval, if that will determine if the decision is reasonable or not.
compare oil consumption with manufacturer specifications if within tolerances, continue using 5w30
shall I also add that someone close to me using the same engine switched from 20w50 to 5w30 after 5 years without issues to date some 4 years later Then that's good. |
Car Talk › Re: Advice Needed As Regards Engine Oil Change by timifakay(m): 1:38am On Jul 20, 2017 |
Just continue with your 20w50. You risk pushing out all the built up sludge in the engine if you change to 5w20 at this stage. This will lead to a smokey engine and oil shortage. |

Car Talk › Re: A Bad/faulty Oxygen Sensor Can Do This To Your Car by timifakay(m): 6:46pm On Jul 17, 2017 |
mikotek: My car have been gulping too much fuel. My mechanic have tried different things - the spark plugs Changed, injector serviced, nozzles replaced etc - yet no solution. So I decided to do some research. I've decided to share this because Someone in my shoes would need this info.
Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Oxygen Sensor
Common signs of a faulty car oxygen sensor include the Check Engine Light coming on, bad gas mileage, and a rough idle. The oxygen sensor in your vehicle measures oxygen levels in the exhaust gases exiting the engine. This information is used by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to determine the correct air to fuel ratio for your engine in real time. The sensor is located in the exhaust system and allows the fuel injection and engine timing to work efficiently, which assists with emissions control. The oxygen sensor transmits the data to the vehicle’s PCM to maintain the optimal air to fuel ratio for your engine. A bad or failing oxygen sensor will have a negative impact on environmental emissions and engine performance, so there are a few things to watch out for before your oxygen sensor completely fails. 1. Check Engine Light comes on
The first line of defense is the Check Engine Light. The Check Engine Light will illuminate if you have a bad or failing oxygen sensor. As soon as this light comes on, contact a professional automotive technician for a Check Engine Light inspection. This light can come on for many different reasons, so it is important to have it looked at by a professional who can correctly diagnose the exact cause. If you have high a mileage vehicle, there's a good chance it has a bad oxygen sensor that needs to be replaced.
2. Bad gas mileage
If the oxygen sensor is going bad, the fuel-delivery and fuel-combustion systems will be thrown off. If a bad oxygen sensor disrupts the air to fuel ratio mixture, or too much fuel is injected into the engine, your vehicle's gas mileage will be reduced. If you find that you are filling up your gas tank more often, keep a record of how many gallons you fill up with and how often. If it is more than normal, have a professional mechanic check out your oxygen sensor.
3. Rough engine idle and misfires
As your oxygen sensor is going bad you may notice your vehicle is running rough, misfiring or running irregularly while idling. Since the oxygen sensor output helps control engine timing, combustion intervals, and the air to fuel ratio, a bad sensor can disrupt these engine functions, causing a rough or irregular engine idle.
When to replace the sensor
If your vehicle was manufactured within the past 15 years, the oxygen sensor should be replaced every 60,000 to 90,000 miles. This sensor is a wear item and does fail over time. Replacement of a bad or failing oxygen sensor will reduce the level of emissions your vehicle puts into the atmosphere, while keeping your engine running smoothly and properly. As soon as you notice your Check Engine Light, poor gas mileage, or an irregular engine idle, book a service with YourMechanic to have your oxygen sensor replaced. This will ensure your vehicle is running smoothly and efficiently, and will help prolong the life of your engine. @Bolded should be for a scan and diagnosis. Don't just throw parts at symptoms without properly determining what the fault/ error is. |

My question is that, is there any other thing I need to do aside the shocks? Its so worse that I don't even drive it again. I'm thinking there could be other things to be done aside just shocks but my mechanic said it's only shock I need to change.......can failure of front shock absorbers cause all this many problems? Did the mechanic bring out the shock absorber to test its integrity or it was tested by pressing the credit and observing the bounce? A proper suspension diagnosis is necessary to be sure. |
