lukman22: @Tinyemeka. I knew were d problem is from. I did nt do very in depth research on buying a used truck.so I was financially down after buying and fixing the little faults I could handle with d little money left on me.First,a used truck needs a total overhaul, all the mechanical/moving parts checked( I.e axles, bearings, compressors, gear, springs, crankshaft, piston, rings etc).and also all the used tyer changed. This is because, you dnt knw how d former owner used the truck, whether he is doing proper maintenance as at wen due and how long d tyer hz bn used.had it bn I did this,I would nt HV experience this. It's not that easy though. It's true when you say total overhaul because one cannot know the issues with the vehicle before the previous owners decided to sell. My cousin even bought direct tokumbo at Cotonou and was using the truck for intra-city haulage within Abuja. Exactly as you just described. First it started with the body being weak; they had to reinforce it. Then the major one was the engine. It knocked after just 1 month of use. Then the tyres. Infact after buying a truck these days, it's like one must set aside extra funds for the tyres and engine. But once one has resolved those issues, it should be smooth sailing from there by God's grace. I'm still saving and planning. Hopefully mid-next year. |

lukman22: I had a pathetic story on this houlage biz, thou am nt given up yet. I bought a 30ton 10tyer open bucket truck last year ( july 2013).fairly used from Minna,Niger state.the first month after fixing the recommended problems on the truck with total servicing and the driver started work it knocked Engine at benin on there way from Abakaliki to lagos with full load. Was towed to mechanic after handover,d crankshaft were cut from standard to 10 and all d nessacery parts changed .After 3days of running the Engine at the workshop, dey set out for work and it knocked again.so I got angry and bought a direct Belgium Engine and d engine wahala stopped. Then comes the issue of over heating and the truck keep shuttling down to mechanic for correction.wen we had it fixed, the axale starts it own.had it fixed and compressor, power steering starts. After all these, tyer blowout starts. I have a dream of increasing the fleet to 4 b4 Dec 2017. Make una wish me luck oooo Maybe that's why the Minna people sold off the truck to you? Pls what types of goods can you movr from Abakaliki to Lag? Is it steady? |

007gal: Telling someone who is already depressed to go and find a wife and get married is NOT the solution. This is a psychological health issue and it could just be MID LIFE CRISIS.. yes! I said it... you will be amazed that this does not only happen to men/women in their 40's anymore. It has been proved that more of our 'google generation' are falling into depression early on in their life. That's why you are having this feeling. You feel at this age you should have ticked everything in your 'bucketlist" but the reality is that you have not and that is setting you into this conundrum of emotion.
I was 32 when I felt this.I stopped working 9-5. I took a break. I was tired of everything. I decided I will live life for a year or two. I had savings.. I enrolled in smaller classes for gardening, piano lessons and flower class. It was therapy for me.. I hung out more with good friends and cancelled my long bucket list of MUST ACHIEVE THIS BY THIS AGE. Created simpler ones. I STOPPED BEING HARD ON MY SELF... I set smaller goals and achieved them one step at a time with flexibility. I stopped seeing life as one ball of complication and competition. I went back to work only part time to top up my savings and I got serious in giving my time to others ( my ministry) I did things that made me HAPPY. I got my life back. Lived a simpler life.. and eliminated that invisible bar only me set up for myself.
I do not know what will work best for you. You need to just find out yourself. Do something.. learn a language, take a hobby, develop friendships, learn to understand that success is not about material riches. Live simple and travel to see the world one step at a time. Sorry this reply is belated. I didn't read your entire post the first time but now that I have, I see that it TOTALLY does not apply to a man. I ask you: Those things that you did to tackle your depression (cancel your bucket list, your major goals and targets, assume a laid back life, travel around and have no worries whatsoever); if you see a man who is of marriageable age and did that, what would you make of such man? Do you see him as a man having the ideal manly qualities? My dear, he would only be postponing the inevitable. He may feel good travelling around and laying about but I assure you that he won't feel that good later. He should pursue [long term] happiness not the transient one. If he slacks in his targets and goals, he'll marry eventually abi? Even if as you say, it's not now. Who'll feed, educate, provide shelter for the family then? P.S. I was thinking you were part of all these ultra-feminist, women-power types. Your website says otherwise. Na wa for you O. |

different ones per week. Bro, pls be serious for once. Agreed. You are good at sarcasm, but the best knows when to draw the line. It's his marriage that is being discussed here. These things you advise him to do, how do you think the couple would fare in the long run? Have you been married before? @OP, instead of bringing your issues to a public forum mostly populated by juvenile minds, why don't you approach a more matured audience for advice? If all that you've said is really true (and not a mere prank, although I am inclined to believe you), please take your case to a marriage counsellor. I'll advise that you see the Parish Priest of a Catholic church, even if you aren't a catholic. You'll be attended to. Just ask for the days of their marriage class. They are very experienced in handling marital issues as these and there are Canons and past cases to help tackle your issue. I believe yours is not an exception. Madam may not join you at first. Most likely. But go first. Make an effort. In the meantime, have you really stopped lusting after other women? The future of your marital life depends on that. I'll also advise that you stop making further comments on this thread. Thanks. |

Acidosis: Lol
The way people are posting these figures, one would assume the posters and all Nigerian graduates make these figures monthly.
Biko, you don't have to work for GTB to make N200k. A tailor (a nairalander) made approximately N680k in 3 weeks here in Lagos. He didn't even do any advert. Someone only saw a wear he made for a client and the man loved it. The following week, someone called from London and asked him to make about 30 units of aso ebi.
All the same sha, the salary figures here look cool. How many times has your NL friend repeated that 680k in 3 wks contract this year? |

Onegai: It wasn't about business rival, since last year, several writers I know complained that Linda Ikeji was stealing their content without crediting them. It wasn't that she was sharing common gist, she would lift passages they wrote, pictures they shot and post it on her blog and MAKE MONEY OFF THEIR HARDWORK. Without giving them a kobo (she could have afforded to). Please she should stop calling haters and God, abeg, it's only in Nigeria people who steal will call on the Lord's name when caught.
Imagine if I showed up and picked up your paycheck end of this month, all because I am more popular in the company than you, will you be smiling? ***Deep sigh*** Both blogs of yours barely have one post per month and almost always start with an apology for not posting on time. What content are you talking about? Linda Ikeji eats and breathes blogging. It's everyday. |

BankoleNco: Hey guys, I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I'd go ahead and post here as it is related to health (depression). Well, I don't want to bore you with long sermon-esque writings, so I'd skip the fancy stuff and go straight to the point. I'd be turning 30 mid next year and its really eating me up! I feel depressed and old! Its been giving me sleepless nights and middle of the night insomnia I wake up 4.00 am for no reason nowadays and just stare at the ceiling lost in thought and scared as hell with thoughts of being in the twilight of my youth, knowing I'd have to get married pretty soon, just 10 years away from 40, no more clubbing, no more spontaneous Saturday drives. The worst part is I spent MOST of my teenage and youth life in self development and didn't have time to indulge in some most of the activities attached to youthful exuberance. Its paid off, yes! But, I AM DEPRESSED right now! Did any of you guys currently 30 and above experience same? Would really help if someone said something. *sigh* Brother, we share the same age down to a few days. May born. Same thing happened to me severally. Not yet 30 and I already felt old. My colleague would look at me strange. Get into a serious relationship and get married. Then focus on major targets, life goals. Determine things that give you satisfaction. They are there if you search deep enough. And pursue them. It'll take your mind off those 'mid-life blues'. You are probably a melancholic like me. I never had any girlfriend till I was 28, didn't party in school or at home and everyone kept yabbing me that my wife danced far more better than me at our trad and wedding. But I can't come and go and come and kill myself. Like I said, find things to divert your attention and give you joy (not alcohol, parties or p0rn) and long term happiness and pursue your life goals. Forget missed runs and old age and all the things associated with them They'll come when they'll come. Enjoy your life and hope for a good future now. Your depression is supposed to be a phase. It'll pass with time. Cheers bro. |
