Mr Ochereome Nnanna is the Chairman Editorial Board of Vanguard Newspapers. He is also apparently an ethnic bigot who could not hide his hatred for the Yoruba race due to the June 12 recognition of Chief MKO Abiola, GCFR.
In a comment on Facebook, Mr Nnanna referred to the Yorubas as “Sophisticated Morons”! I wouldn’t have made an issue of this because I understand that emotions were rife but considering the sensitive position he occupies, I feel it is dangerous for this nation for a man who directs the editorial board of a national newspaper to be this hate filled.
The management of Vanguard Newspapers need to call Mr Nnanna to order or reconsider his fitness for such a sensitive role. With this level of unveiled disdain for a race, it is difficult for anyone to expect any neutrality or fairness from Vanguard Newspapers.
If this nation means anything to you, please share this until the Management of Vanguard Newspapers does something about Mr Nnenna’s attitude. We should stop condoning bigots in positions of authority. Nigeria belongs to ALL of us! "

Brother, thanks for your observations. Firstly, I am very familiar with Akwa - Ibom people. The problem is that Akwa Ibom, CRS & the Ijaws of Rivers State have not yet realized the selfishness & greed of this people near them. The subsidy removal mass action in Lagos was not a Yoruba led action as the ibos made you to believe. From time immemorial, strike action is always strong in Lagos. There were various strikes during Obj & a lot during the military in Lagos. Fuel subsidy removal strike was business & politically motivated. Remember, labour Union was involved.

The mass action that led to the confirmation of GEJ was led by the Yorubas. The Yorubas supported GEJ to become the President. GEJ bite the finger of somebody that fed him when he surrounded himself with people that came for vengeance against Nigeria. To be sincere, GEJ did not know. They removed Yorubas from strategic positions & filled their kinsmen in core positions remaining only CBN governor (Hausa - Fulani) because he must complete his tenure.

The Oba of Lagos was right. I spent 6 yrs in the East, you can not try that in the East, not even in the University campus. You cannot impose your population on the people, the tradition & the traditional institutions of the owners of the land. Despite, everything, PDP still has substantial votes in Lagos. Check the votes in the East during June 12 apart from Anambra because of Ezeife that SDP has substantial votes. If you plan a coup with IBO man, he will leak the coup to his kinsmen for them to escape while contributing to elimination of others marked for execution.

Prince Sam Amuka Pemu, the founder of Vanguard Newspaper is a man of honour. A journalist of high reputations & ethics. Vanguard has been very neutral even when people expect a little bit of variation in his editorial content.

During June 12 struggling of 1993 to 1994 & NADECO struggling of 1993 to 1999, Vanguard was never part of the struggle, very neutral. Even when Pa Rewane was assassinated, Vanguard was neutral. Pa Alfred Rewane & Prince Sam Amuka are from Sapele Area.

Any individual is entitled to his opinion. His kinsmen said Awolowo drank poison because of a failed coup to avoid Babangida's coup plotters trial. No Hausa man will ever come up with such falsehood & blackmailing of a statesman, except embittered generation. Some of us were in the service, Cmdre Ukiwe has resigned & retired as the CGS about 2 yrs before the death of Awo. There was no intelligence report of coup plot & IBB was very close to Awo family.
