A medical doctor is being called out on social media after she stripped down to her underwear to gain attention.

In the video, she is seen praying that her followers' "cup of blessings will overflow". As she says this, she bends her breasts and jiggles it, making her bra look like a cup from which her boobs are overflowing.

Web users were unimpressed and called her out for the video. Some threatened to report her to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN. Another accused her of disgracing the oath of her profession for clout.

Kwara state Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has shifted activities commemorating the June 12 Democracy Day in the state to Friday June 14.

In a statement, chief press secretary to the governor Rafiu Ajakaye said “this to enable state governors, including Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on the invitation of the Federal Government, to join Mr. President and over 80 foreign leaders and dignitaries at the inaugural national commemoration of the day in the capital Abuja.

“What this means is that the event slated for the Metropolitan Square and State Banquet in Ilorin will now hold on Friday 14th June instead of Wednesday, June 12.

“Kwara will nonetheless observe the national holiday slated for June 12 as earlier announced by the Federal Government. There will be no new holiday on Friday.”

The statement noted that many other states are also changing their own schedule of the event in order to join President Muhammadu Buhari for the inaugural June 12 commemoration in Abuja.

“We urge the Kwara public and all invitees (from outside Kwara) to the events in Kwara State to please take note of this slight change in the schedule,” it added.

Emirati twin boys, aged two years five months, drowned in the swimming pool of their neighbour at Khuzam area in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah late on Friday.

Brigadier Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi, director-general of the central operations room, RAK Police, said they were alerted about two missing kids at 10.10pm.

"The RAK Police immediately launched an intensive search operation but could not find them."

However, 83 minutes later, the operations room received a report of drowning of the two missing twins, according to Major Tariq Al Sharhan, chief of the Ambulance and Rescue Section, RAK Police.

"The rescue team fished out the two boys from the swimming pool and tried all ways to resuscitate them, but unfortunately, they were declared dead."

Hassan Al Awadhi, uncle of the twins, said the duo were safely riding their bikes late when they found the door of their neighbour's villa open.

"My 2.5-year-old nephews rode in and fell into the swimming pool of neighbour's villa past 10 pm as it was dark."

What made the situation worse was that the two bikes fell onto the two little boys, he added.

"They tried to get out of the shallow pool, but the bikes trapped them down into the water until they breathed their last."

Mansoor Al Awadhi, the distraught father of the twins, identified as Abdullah and Zayed, said he "cannot force their neighbour to keep the door of his villa close but he should have sealed his swimming pool or kept it safe."

The father does not plan to file a lawsuit against the neighbour.

"All kids are observed and attended to either by family members or domestic helpers, but my boys suddenly went missing, and the housemaid could not locate them. When their mother came back home after buying some stuff, she also could not find them. All family members and neighbours started searching for the missing boys at 10pm, when they were finally found drowned in neighbour's swimming pool at about 11.30pm."

Nobody had expected the children to enter the neighbour's villa, which was three houses away.

"We only knew about the sorrowful drowning of my kids when the Ras Al Khaimah Police told us they found them dead in the neighbour's pool."

Brig Humaidi urged all families to always keep an eye on their children, particularly the young ones.

"They should never ever be kept alone or unattended. All corridours, doors, or paths, leading to the swimming pool should be strictly closed down. So, none can have access to the pool which should also be tightly sealed."

The funeral prayers were performed for the twins at Sheikh Zayed mosque in Ras Al Khaimah following the Friday prayer, while the duo was later buried at the Hudaiba Cemetery.

A couple's wedding was allegedly suspended by a branch of Deeper Life Bible Church in Bayelsa because the couple ate from the same plate while courting.

The couple was having their traditional wedding on Friday, June 7, when they received a text message from the chairman of the church's marriage committee informing them their wedding has been suspended and they are both placed on "discipline".

According to Oladele Dada, who shared the story on Twitter along with a screenshot of the message sent by the church to the couple, the Deeper Life State Overseer for Bayelsa state was the one who called the chairman of the marriage committee of the church and asked them to suspend the wedding.

When the distraught bride and her crying mother went to the chairman of the marriage committee to beg for the marriage to hold as planned, the chairman allegedly walked out on them and the bride almost "ran mad".

They were later informed that the wedding was canceled because the couple ate from the same plate weeks ago and the church allegedly doesn't allow this until after the couple's wedding.

A Nigerian woman's story is trending on social media following claims she "died" and "resurrected" days later.

Mhiz Gold Abi, a Nigerian woman resident in Casablanca, Morocco, was reported dead and friends were shocked by the news. Some mourned her on social media. Days later, she took to her Facebook account to reveal she's back to life.

As someone who just "came back from the dead" and "has seen heaven", she told her Facebook friends that "heaven no easy oo."

She also promised to share her experience later today and give further details of what happened to her.

Friends who replied to her post expressed joy that she's back from the dead and thanked God for giving her a "second chance."

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Tuesday, June 11, declare open a National Democracy Day Anti-corruption Summit.

Mr. Tony Orilade, EFCC’s Acting Head, Media and Publicity made this known in a statement in Abuja on Saturday.

Orilade said that the summit would hold at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja by 11 am.

The summit is being organized by EFCC in collaboration with the Presidential Inauguration Planning Committee.

The summit is themed: “Curbing Electoral Spending: A panacea to Public Corruption”.

According to Orilade, President Buhari will feature alongside the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame; Ghana’s Nana Akufo-Addo; Liberia’s George Weah, and, Macky Sall of Senegal.

“The Nigerian President and his African counterparts would at the occasion further lend their voices against corruption.

“The occasion will also feature a paper presentation on the “Use of Public Funds in Election Litigation and the Integrity of the Judiciary” by retired Justice Ayo Salami,” he said.

Other paper presenters are Kagame, who will speak on “Electoral Spending, Voter Inducement, and Public Corruption: an African Overview.

“Prof. Attahiru Jega, former Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will be speaking on “Curbing Electoral Spending and Voter Inducement in Nigeria: The Role of Regulatory and Law Enforcement Agencies”, while Prof. Patrice LO Lumumba will offer a“Review of Anti-corruption Strategy in Africa and the Way Forward,” Orilade added.

The Federal Government has put measures in place to ensure that up to 13.8 million households in Nigeria embraced the usage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for their cooking within the next five years.

Vice-President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo made the statement on Friday while inaugurating a landmark LPG cylinder manufacturing plant, built at Ajah, near Lagos by Techno Oil Limited.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the plant, the building of which commenced in 2015, is the largest of its type in West Africa.

“We are targeting a 40 percent adoption rate or 13.8 million households in five years and 73 percent adoption in 10 years or about 33.3 million households,’’ Osinbajo stated. He said that government was also envisaging to generate up to two million jobs from the LPG sector during the tenure of this administration.

According to him, the government has also set a goal to achieve five million metric tonnes of domestic, commercial and industrial LPG utilization within the next 10 years.

He said that government was doing its utmost to harness the abundant resources in the gas sector, disclosing that the National LPG Expansion Programme had been established to achieve the goals by the government in the new gas policy.

“We identified that it is necessary to emphasize coordination and collaboration in promoting LPG adoption as previous attempts in achieving the goal has failed because of the fragmented approach within the government,’’

Osinbajo said that progress had been made in LPG adoption with the removal of five percent VAT from the domestic pricing of the commodity to discourage importation.

“Techno Oil’s investment auspiciously converges with our administration’s efforts to speedily diversify our economy, through domestic and indigenous solutions.

“When we came into office in 2015, one of the issues we identified was the abysmally low domestic utilization of LPG in Nigeria.

The vice-president said that it was wrong for Nigeria to continue to rely on biomass fuels such as firewood and traditional fuels such as petrol and diesel for their domestic energy needs.

He said that biomass and other fuels were prone to giving health, environmental, economic and social challenges, ranging from carbon emissions, deforestation and a high number of deaths resulting from air pollution.

“According to the World Health Organisation, the smoke from burning wood fuels is a major cause of women and children mortality in Nigeria,’’ he added.

The Executive-Vice Chairman of Techno Oil, Mrs. Nkechi Obi, said that cylinder inadequacy and high cost of acquiring the facility had been taken care of with the building of the plant.

“This plant has an annual production capacity of over five million cylinders of different sizes and we believe it will go a long way to boosting the LPG adoption drive in Nigeria.

“We have just two million cylinders in circulation in Nigeria at present. However, in just four months, this plant will produce one million cylinders.

“This means that we have the capacity to meet the country’s requirements and to produce for export to other West African countries,’’ Obi said.

She, however, appealed to the government to provide the necessary support to the company to sustain local manufacturing of the cylinders.

With the swearing-in of President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term tenure, the next great expectations from Nigerians will be to see the characters that will constitute the cabinet of the president for the next four years.

Already, the President has assured that unlike what happened during his first tenure, Nigerians will not have to wait six months this time around to see the list of his cabinet members. While the President will be expected to keep to his promise on the early appointment of the ministers, the quality, virtues and moral standing of those to be appointed, especially as related to the character of the government itself must be important considerations in making that decision.

Of course, the issue of competence cannot also be waived aside. Many Nigerians believed that some of the ministers in the first term cabinet of the President were not only ‘deadwood’ in terms of performance, but in character and moral standing, were the very antithesis of the anti-corruption stance of the administration, and dark stains on the widely acknowledged integrity of the President himself.

Certainly, the linkage of some members of the outgone cabinet to National Youth Service Corps Certificate scandal, allegations of corruption and ego-driven political struggles back in their homes state to the detriment of their duties in Abuja were definitely out of sync with all the anti-corruption and purposeful bent of the Buhari administration.

There are already suggestions in the public space on how the President should choose his next set of ministers. To ensure that the country is availed the opportunity of using its vast and rich human resources for its development without limitations of political affiliations, some have argued that the President should look beyond his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in constituting his cabinet this time around.

But some have also argued that the President cannot shut out party chieftains who traversed the nooks and crannies of the country to ensure he was re-elected for a second term. Indeed, chieftains of All Progressives Congress, APC, are already positioning themselves for appointment into the cabinet, using different subterfuges.

But even at that, the onus on patriotic members of the ruling party who understand what their party stands for to as much as possible help the President make the right choices. It is in this vein that I viewed the recent intervention by a pro- Buhari leadership and integrity advocacy group on the kind of person(s) that should represent Akwa Ibom in the President’s new cabinet as commendable.

The group, Akwa Ibom Integrity and Servant Leadership Culture Initiative had in a letter to the President, dated May 24, cautioned him against appointing Senator Godswill Akpabio or any other personality with corruption charges into his cabinet for the second term.

In the letter, entitled “Ministerial Appointments: Why Appointing Akpabio May be Counter Productive”, signed by its national coordinator, Dr. Asuquo Edidem Etim, the group had warned the President on why the former governor should not be on his list of consideration for appointment as minister. The group cited the profligacy with which the former Governor ran Akwa Ibom State for eight years as one of the reasons for the warning.

It also rightly warned that the former governor’s “corruption case with the EFCC has the potential of exploding into national embarrassment and credibility question for your government, should he be made a minister in a government that prides itself as anti-graft champion. We wish to remind you of your famous words, that ‘if we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill us’.”

The group, which seems to be aligned to the APC, also spoke about the potential of Akpabio to become even a more destabilising factor, especially, to the Akwa Ibom chapter of the ruling party if he is more empowered with a ministerial position.

It’s also apt to acknowledge that the State Working Committee of the APC Akwa Ibom State has disowned the group and its leader which it accused of engaging in “disparaging campaign against l Akpabio and “evil fireworks meant to generate bad blood and disaffection in the party. In the same vein, a chieftain of Akwa Ibom APC, Mr Umana Okon Umana, who is also the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority, has also disowned the group as well as their recommendation that he should be appointed as minister to represent the state in President Buhari’s new cabinet.

But the group’s assertion of the need for Buhari, the ‘African anti-corruption champion’ to keep off the former governor is one that cannot be faulted. This is more so given the speculations that Akpabio’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC last year was inspired by the former governor’s bid to escape the searchlight of the anti-graft agency. The former Governor has been under the searchlight of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) since he left office after serving as governor of Akwa Ibom State in 2015.

He was first quizzed by operatives of the anti-graft agency a few months after he left office following a petition by a lawyer who is also an activist.

It can also be recalled that the former Akwa Ibom governor had during his defection to APC claimed that he was no longer under investigation. But this was swiftly denied by a former spokesman for the EFCC, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, who in a text message to journalists emphatically stated that Akpabio corruption’s case was still ongoing. “EFCC does not close cases or give clearance to anybody,” Wilson said.

It’s true that the former governor has not been taken through the judicial process, much less, declared guilty of the allegations.

But one of the grounds frequently used to dismiss the anti-corruption war of the Buhari administration in the past four years was that it was more or less aimed at ‘persecuting’ politicians in opposition or with opposing views. The inference was that the anti-graft agencies usually become powerless once any top politician under their searchlight identifies with the ruling party. There is the need to put an end to this perception of the noble efforts of the President to fight corruption.

Therefore, as one of the admirers of Buhari, I believe that the opportunity of the second term should be used by the President to indeed take anti-graft war to the next level with actions aimed at dispelling such insinuations.

The President can do this by ensuring that actions and initiatives that raise doubt about the intentions of his government on the anti-corruption war are given wide berth. And that take off point should be by ensuring that persons with corruption cases dangling on their necks like gory necklaces are not part of his cabinet. That’s why the President should heed the advice of the Akwa Ibom APC group on Akpabio.

After all, the Akwa Ibom chapter of APC has in its ranks persons who are not just even more qualified in terms of experience, academic attainments than the former governor but have also worked tirelessly to sustain the party in the state in the past four years.

Elder statesman and the Second Republic on House of matters, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, has charged the investigators of the alleged financial mismanagement of Kano Emirate Council to be objective and impartial in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Reacting to the reported query that was issued to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi, on Thursday, the elder statesman maintained that a query should not be a cause of worry or surprise as it is a normal process of establishing the truth in any matter.

He urged the emir to go through the content of the allegations against him and provide answers to the issues raised, saying that if someone raises a complaint against one, the correct thing to do is to give the respondent a chance to answer and defend himself.

Alhaji Tanko, who admitted that he read of the query in the media, recalled that part of the submissions of the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission in its interim report was that the emir was not cooperating with their investigation.

He cautioned that his refusal to submit himself to their investigation would certainly not be helpful in this case as silence both in the Common Law and in Islam is deemed as consent.

The elder statesman also dismissed the suggestions that the Emir of Kano should resign at this stage, saying that it would surely not solve the problem as the accusations leveled against him would still be there even if he is no longer there as the Emir of Kano.

The 8th Senate, which was inaugurated on June 9, 2015, adjourned its legislative activities indefinitely after four years on Thursday.

The Senate adjourned indefinitely after the question was put by the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki and unanimously adopted by the lawmakers.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that although the life of the 8th senate stands officially dissolved, midnight of June 8, to pave way for the inauguration of the 9th Senate on June 11, with the indefinite adjournment, it will no longer hold legislative activities.

Saraki in his farewell speech thanked his colleagues for demonstrating patriotism toward protecting the sanctity of the legislature.

He said although some of them had to pay dearly for daring to defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it was worth it.

He said he was bowing out a fulfilled man, knowing that in spite of the hiccups experienced in the life of the Senate, the achievements recorded could not be matched.

“Distinguished colleagues, as we come to the final plenary and the last few days of the eighth Senate, it is a victory in itself that we are seeing the journey to its momentous end.

“That I am here today, that you are here today, is a victory for democracy. It is a testament to what people can do when they come together for the greater good.

“This is also one of those occasions when the Supreme Creator reminds us, once again, that power does not reside in any one person.

“Let me thank each and every one of you for your contributions toward making this the historic Senate that it is.

“When I think of the many trials and tribulations we have faced as an institution, and my own personal travails particularly at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, I am humbled.

“This is because none of our achievements would have been possible without the support and cooperation of the entire members of this chamber.

The invasion of the National Assembly by armed security operatives in August 2018 will live in infamy.

“This way down the line, however, I realize that the day of that invasion was the saddest but in many ways, it was also a good day for asserting the independence of the legislature and the triumph of democracy.

“It also turned out to be a showcase of the special relationship between this chamber and the House, as Honourable Members stood in unison with their Senate colleagues in defiance of the invaders,” he said.

Saraki thanked the House of Representatives for the remarkable unity of the two chambers of the 8th National Assembly, adding that it was only in unity that they were able to withstand the storm.

He noted that the legislation passed in areas affecting the daily lives of citizens, the economy, education, security, anti-corruption, health and many more, would remain a benchmark.

According to him, working together, they achieved many “firsts” in the 8th Assembly saying, “we should rightly be proud of these, especially as they are imperishable legacies we are leaving for the people.

“Our many firsts include the National Assembly Joint Public Hearing on the Budget, which we started with the 2016 Appropriation Bill.

“The engagement of the private sector and other stakeholders in crafting the economic legislative agenda was a watershed.

“For the first time, there were meetings and interactions with members of the public which were not previously the norm.

“One such interaction was the Public Senate, which gave the youth the opportunity to spend a day with me as President of the Senate.

“I have pleasant memories of my reading to an audience of small children inside my office, where, in the true spirit of Children’s Day, the kids themselves were the dignitaries.

“It was during this Senate that we patented the concept of the Roundtable. This was groundbreaking.

“We left the center of power in Abuja to tackle pressing social issues at the very heart of the communities most affected,” he said.

Saraki recalled that notable among them were the Senate Roundtable on the Drug Use Crisis held in Kano in December 2017, and the one on Migration and Human Trafficking held in Benin City in February 2018.

“At both events, we not only dialogued for solutions with the relevant government agencies, international partners and community leaders, but we also heard from the victims themselves.

“In Kano, we heard the harrowing story of Zainab, a recovering drug addict.

“In Benin, we listened to the account of a young woman who was rebuilding her life after being trafficked to Russia for the sex trade; and we heard from Victory who had been sold into slavery in Libya.

“We let these people know that their voices count. Indeed the voice of every Nigerian count and the 8th Senate lent its ear to them.

“We were alive to our responsibility to those whom we serve, and we engaged with them on their own terms.

“It should be a matter of pride to all 109 senators and to our offspring that, in this chamber, we put humanity first. I will always be proud of the humaneness of the 8th Senate.”

According to Saraki, ours has been legislature with a human face, the personal touch, moved by the milk of human kindness.

“Whenever the situation demanded, we left the imposing edifice of the National Assembly to reach out to the person on the street.

“We showed that parliament belongs to the people and that there should be no barrier between lawmakers and those they represent.

“One of our major acts upon inauguration was the Senate visit in August 2015 to Maiduguri, Borno State – the first ever National Assembly delegation to see first-hand the living conditions of thousands displaced by the insurgency.

“A senator from the South moved the motion that led us to Maiduguri, one of the many times we showed the world that senators act as Nigerians first, and not as Southerners or Northerners.

“The three senators representing Borno State were among the delegation on that memorable visit, as we called on the Shehu of Borno to assure him that rebuilding the North East was high on our agenda,” he said.

Saraki further said, “we visited IDP camps, spoke with the people, carried their babies, comforted them, letting them know that their well-being was a priority for the Senate.

“Today, the North East Development Commission is a reality, and the people are being resettled into their normal lives.

“Borno was by no means our only spotlight on the conditions of our people in IDP camps.

“We visited the Kuchingoro IDP Camp in Abuja during the holy month of Ramadan in 2017 and donated essential supplies to the inhabitants while assuring them of our commitment to getting them back on their feet.

“A year later, we were at the Abagena IDP Camp in Benue State. Instead of bringing the children to Abuja for Children’s Day, we went to the children in Benue.

“We gave assurances that we would build on work already done on the ground by the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Review of Security Infrastructure to bring an end to killings and restore peace in the state.

“There was a very moving encounter with Ali Ahmadu, the six-year-old Boko Haram victim from Chibok. Our joy knew no bounds when he returned, walking and smiling, after life-transforming surgery in Dubai.

“Little Ali from Chibok was one of many individuals whose lives were directly touched by the 8th Senate.”

Saraki recalled the Senate stood with families and communities across the country in times of trouble, citing the families of deceased corps members, which the Senate condoled with.

“Every Nigerian life matters, and we demonstrated that in the symbolism and actuality of our actions at all times.

“When Nigerians cried out for help, we did not turn deaf ears. Many will remember the case of Miss Monica Osagie who accused her lecturer of demanding sex for marks.

“As a responsive Senate, we backed up the Sexual Harassment law we had enacted by passing a resolution on the issue, and conducted an investigation into the allegation.”

According to him, responding to the needs of Nigerians was our calling, and by so doing, I believe we made a real difference in people’s lives.

“We promised transparency in the National Assembly Budget and kept our word, subjecting NASS Budget to public scrutiny for the first time since Nigeria’s return to democracy.

We engaged with a delegation of nurses and midwives led by my wife in her capacity as a Global Goodwill Ambassador to the International Confederation of Midwives and listened to their concerns about high infant and maternal mortality rates in Nigeria.

“We promised to review relevant laws and pass new ones to make for better conditions of service for nurses and midwives, as one way of bringing about an improvement in mortality rates, in particular, and the health sector as a whole.

“We kept that promise, too, and one notable outcome was the setting aside of one percent of the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) for the Basic Health Care Provision Fund.

“Just the other week the Minister of Health called the 1% CRF a “game changer”, no doubt because, by our activities in this chamber, we are touching the lives of Nigerians and even those unborn.”

Saraki said the 8th Senate was able to break the jinx on several bills that eluded previous Senates.

He stressed that “we broke the decade-old Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) into a quartet of workable bills including the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (PIGB), whose passage stands as a major achievement of the 8th Senate.

“The Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) was the most comprehensive reform law governing Nigeria’s business environment in nearly 30 years.

“The Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) Bill was one of the major anti-corruption laws we passed, and it saved the country from being expelled from the global body of the Egmont Group.

“Also as recently as May 22, we passed the Nigerian Football Federation Bill which had been caught in the legislative bottleneck for 15 years.

In these four years, we were fully engaged in the state of insecurity in the country, and spearheaded many initiatives to bring sustainable peace, and secure and protect the lives and property of citizens.

“We constantly engaged with the international community on the need for them to not only support the war against insurgency but to also lift the ban on the sale of arms to Nigeria.

“The Senate had to cut short one vacation in order to receive a U.S. Congressional delegation and persuade them on the need to canvass for the lifting of the arms sales ban, for more effective counter-insurgency strategies.

“We assured them that human rights complaints had been addressed and that we would ensure that any related issues would be thoroughly probed and appropriate actions are taken.

“The U.S. delegation was able to leave with Senate’s guarantee, and the arms embargo was reversed.

The president of the Senate said other achievements included the Not-Too-Young-To-Run law among others

He advised whoever would succeed him to be there for the people, act in the interest of the average Nigerian, keep the legislature always at the behest of the citizens, and allow the national assembly to be the people’s parliament.

“Whoever succeeds me, that person will still be a product of the 8th Senate. We did it together. Let there be continuity.”

Saraki, however, enumerated some gray areas of the 8th Senate to include the poor relationship with the Executive.

He called for more engagements and collaboration between the two arms in future assemblies.

In their contributions, lawmakers took turns to appraise the achievements of the 8th Senate.

Julen Lopetegui is back in management at Sevilla, with the former Real Madrid boss penning a three-year deal with the Liga outfit.
Sevilla has identified Julen Lopetegui as the man to take the club forward as they begin a new project.

The former Spain and Real Madrid boss has been offered an initial three-year contract until 2022, a considerable salary and a release clause.

Lopetegui’s possession-based style of play has made him an attractive candidate for Monchi, with the Spanish coach favoring a fairly rigid 4-3-3 formation.

Lopetegui, 52, has been out of management since being sacked by Real Madrid in October 2018 after just 14 games in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu.

His appointment by Real came on the eve of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where he was set to manage the Spanish national side.

The Spanish FA took the decision to dismiss Lopetegui two days before Spain’s opening game against Portugal because his agreement to join Real Madrid was made without their knowledge.

The former Real Madrid and Barcelona goalkeeper has also coached Rayo Vallecano and Porto at club level.

The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has sighted the new moon marking the end of 29-day Ramadan fasting. The Supreme Council says the Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar, who is the head of NSCIA, will make an official announcement later tonight.

According to NSCIA, the moon was seen in Damaturu and another town, Mr. Oloyede, a professor, said.

The new moon marks the end of the 29 days of Ramadan fast for Muslims.

Mr. Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on Monday began his second tenure, following the confirmation of his re-appointment by the Senate on May 16.

According to a statement by the Director Corporate Communications, Mr. Isaac Okoroafor, Emefiele was sworn in by the Bank’s Secretary and Director, Corporate Secretariat Department, Mrs. Alice Karau.

Emefiele after taking the oath, expressed gratitude to God, President Muhammadu Buhari for nominating him and the Senate for confirming his appointment.
He also thanked the management and staff as well as the media for all their support during his first term in office.

Emefiele disclosed that he will unfold a new roadmap for the Bank and the economy, in the days ahead, after a series of consultations with critical stakeholder groups.
He charged all stakeholders to strengthen efforts at building a healthy and stable system in the best interest of Nigeria.

The CBN governor also reiterated the bank’s focus to play an active role in supporting job and wealth creation in Nigeria.

“We must strengthen our efforts over the coming years to stimulate growth and job creation in critical sectors of the economy, which will help insulate our economy from shocks in the global economy.

“We must also work to build a healthy and stable financial system that will contribute to the growth of our economy while preserving price stability,” he said.

Emefiele said more work still needed to be done in building a stronger economy for the benefit of all.

According to him, the pace of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth remained fragile and was below the rate of Nigeria’s annual population growth at 2.7 percent. He, therefore, pledged that the CBN would continue to collaborate with the fiscal authorities to strengthen growth and wealth creation in the country.

The U.S. now wants to know the social-media user names of people applying for visas as part of the stepped up screening of foreign visitors and immigrants.

The change, which was first announced last year and taking effect this month, follows on a 2017 order by President Donald Trump requiring heightened vetting for visa applicants, according to a State Department official.

An estimated 14 million travelers and 710,000 immigrants to the U.S. each year will be affected by the changes, according to notes in the Federal Register. The official said national security is the top priority and every would-be traveler or immigrant already faced screening, including requirements to list their travel history, family member information, and previous addresses.

The American Civil Liberties Union had opposed the proposal, arguing the questions would create "an environment ripe for profiling and discrimination."

The family of a nursing mother has called for help in locating her after she left home 16 days ago to buy things and hasn't returned.

Chidinma Stella Glory Ibe is a mother to twin babies. She left home on Thursday, May 16, 2019, to purchase groceries from a market close to her home but has not been seen since then.

Her family has reported her disappearance to the nearest police station and they are asking members of the public to be on the lookout for the missing mother, who is described as being light-skinned.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has written Visa Inc. and Mastercard Inc. to furnish it with details on credit cards used by musician, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley.

The commission said the cards recovered from the artiste during his arrest were used for alleged identity theft and credit card fraud. According to court documents obtained by Punch, the EFCC’s letters to Visa and Mastercard – titled, ‘Investigation Activities’ – was dated May 13, 2019, three days after it arrested Naira Marley.

The letters were signed by the Zonal Head, EFCC, Lagos, Dein Whyte. “The commission is investigating a case of identity theft and electronic cards-related fraud in which the listed card information was recovered during the investigation,” EFCC’s letter to Visa and Mastercard partly read.

In the letter to Visa, the commission asked the company to provide information about the last five transactions on each of three Visa cards recovered from Naira Marley. The first card with number 4921819410257431 was issued by Lloyds Bank Plc and bears the name Timea Fedorne Tatar. The second card with number 4539782440624281 was issued by Barclays Bank Plc and bears the name Nicole Louise Maylon, while the third card with number 4757147207869807 was issued by Santander UK Plc and bears the name Sharon Broad.

Likewise, in the EFCC’s letter to Mastercard, the commission asked the company to furnish it with information about the last five transactions on a Mastercard card recovered from the musician. The card with number 5354631405139323 was issued by Prepay Technologies Ltd and bears the name Linh H. Mendez Rojas.

Naira Marley was arrested on May 10 at 9 Gbangbala Street, Ikate, Lekki, Lagos, together with Omomniyi Temidayo (aka Zlatan Ibile) and three others for alleged advance fee fraud. Following his arrest, the anti-graft agency filed an 11-count against Naira Marley. The charges with suit number FHC/L/178C/19 were filed before a Lagos State High Court.

The artist was later arraigned before Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on May 20, 2019. Following his arraignment, Justice Oweibo ordered that Naira Marley be remanded in the prison custody until May 30 to take the bail application filed by the defendant’s counsel, Taiwo Oreagba.
