CelebritiesI Have Great Respect For Roadside Prostitutes – Tracey Boakye by titiloyeblog(op): 10:25am On Jul 25, 2019
Tracey Boakye, the Ghanaian actress who a few days ago said her claim of paying men for sex was a joke, has served another and this time she is saying she has great respect for roadside prostitutes.

Decrying the ‘commercial sex workers’ tag on prostitutes when other women go about having sex with their boyfriends for material gains all in the name of ‘courtship’, the Ghanaian actress maintained that these prostitutes took bold steps to make money and support their needs.

She said in an interview with Sammy Flex “In this world when you’re not married and you have sex, its prostitution. Whether you stand outside or do it indoors. Ghanaians we have a problem. We prefer those who always try to pretend. We are hypocrites. Someone is charging money for sex by the roadside, you, on the other hand, do it indoors yet at the end of the day, we tend to judge the roadside ones. If you’d ask me I’ll choose those who stand by the roadside any day because they’ve got courage”.

@titiloyeblog.com

The incident happened on Saturday afternoon in Ajanwa village in Santrampur tehsil, said the head of the village, over 120 kilometers from Gujarat's Vadodara.

A 60-year-old man died from a snake bite in Gujarat's Mahisagar district but not before he bit back and killed the reptile too, a village official said Monday.

The incident happened on Saturday afternoon in Ajanwa village in Santrampur tehsil, said the head of the village, over 120 kilometers from Gujarat's Vadodara.

"Parvat Gala Baria was standing near a spot where maize was being loaded from a field onto a truck. A snake slithered out and while others there ran away, he continued to stand claiming he had caught snakes earlier," the village head said.

"He grabbed the snake which retaliated by biting him on the hands and face. However, Parvat bit back and killed the snake too," he said.

He was rushed to a hospital in Lunawada town and then shifted to a bigger medical facility in Godhra but died later in the day from the venom injected into him by the snake, sarpanch Baria said.

Ajanwa police has registered a case, an official said.

PoliticsWe Are Still Negotiating For Chibok Girls, Sharibu, Others’ Release – Presidency by titiloyeblog(op): 11:46am On Jul 16, 2019
The Presidency says it is still negotiating with Boko Haram terrorists for the release of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls, Leah Sharibu and other kidnapped Nigerians.

It faulted a former CNN anchor, Isha Sesay, for saying in her newly published book that Nigerians and the government had forgotten the kidnapped girls because they were from poor homes.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a statement on Monday, said Sesay’s new book titled, ‘Beneath the Tamarind Tree,’ was laced with many untruths.

Shehu noted that in the introduction of the book, the author acknowledged the release from Boko Haram captivity of more than 50 percent of the girls under the Muhammadu Buhari administration but said “ very rightfully, that “we must not forget the 112 who are still missing.”

The President’s spokesman, however, said it was wrong for Sesay to have said the government did not know who to negotiate with since Boko Haram had split into different factions.

The statement read in part, “This is a misrepresentation of the position of the government. When the government spoke on the issue, it was clear that although this split had the effect of making negotiation and reaching an agreement a more difficult task, this country and our international partners are still engaging through third parties with the terrorists.”

He said while it was true that the government had no information on where the captives were held, it was equally incorrect to say the government had given up on the Chibok girls “when the truth is that there was nothing on the ground to give that impression.”

The statement said further, “This book asserts that the government and people of Nigeria no longer cared about the girls because ‘they are poor…they don’t have famous names; people just don’t care.’ No. Nigerians care and that is why the #BringBackOurGirls movement was able to generate the groundswell of public opinion.”

He argued the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan failed to acknowledge the abduction of the girls until much later but said it would be unfair to ascribe some of the inefficiencies of the last government to Buhari’s own.

Politics‘We’re Winning War Against Terror’ - Buhari by titiloyeblog(op): 6:43pm On Jul 13, 2019
@titiloyeblog.com

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that Nigerian Armed Forces and their allies are winning the war against terror.

The president stated this at the Graduation Ceremony of Senior Course 41 at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) in Jaji, Kaduna State on Saturday.
He commended the collaboration with neighboring countries in the fight against Boko Haram terrorists, noting that the effort was crucial in decimating the enemy.

‘‘Many of the security threats faced by Nigeria are trans-border in nature. That is why the West African sub-region and indeed the African continent must step up the level of military cooperation that currently exists amongst us.

‘‘I am sure you are aware of the collaboration of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Republic of Cameroun, Niger, Benin and Chad in a multinational operation to decimate Boko Haram terrorists in the Lake Chad Basin and other regions.

‘‘The effort is laudable and has continued to yield positive results, as the war on terror is being won on all sides.

‘‘I want to assure you that Nigeria, in partnership with our allies, will not relent until terrorists are completely decimated,’’ he said.

The President assured that the Federal Government would continue to give priority to the training and welfare of officers and men of the Armed Forces, including the eminent institution, established to train tactical and operational level officers on the tenets of staff work and command.

The Nigerian leader used the occasion to appreciate the Armed Forces for prompt responses to the numerous security challenges facing the county.

He said: ‘’Your response to Boko Haram insurgency, banditry, militancy, kidnapping as well as activities of separatists and armed militias among others have been very commendable.

“The Nigerian Armed Forces have also committed huge resources towards stability of the West African sub-region and world peace in general.”

The President told the 207 Senior Course 41 graduates that the nation expects the best from them in terms of commitment to duties, loyalty and service to the fatherland given the time and investments expended on their training.

He expressed delight that the prestigious college had 13 international officers from 11 African countries and the Republic of Korea, who successfully completed Course 41, an improvement on Senior Course 40, which had 11 international students.

The President also commended the management for introducing media awareness packages in its training in order to sensitize officers on the importance and methodologies of utilizing information and media actions in support of military operations.

He also welcomed the modernization drive in the military institution, evident in the establishment of an e- examination centre and rejuvenated library facilities.

President Buhari also praised the college for reviewing its curricula to build the capacity of student officers to become more proficient in military operations that are better situated to addressing Nigeria’s current security threats.

In his remarks, the Commandant, AFCSC, AVM Lawal Shittu-Alao said a total of 207 students successfully passed through the programme, which spanned 48 weeks.

He said the graduating set began their programme on Aug. 8, 2018 comprising 87 Army officers, 58 Navy, 40 Air force personnel and nine non-military staff and 13 international officers drawn from South Korea, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Liberia, South Africa, Niger Republic and Gambia among others.

PoliticsWe Have Invested N900bn On Power Since Assumption Of Office – Osinbajo by titiloyeblog(op): 10:52am On Jul 13, 2019
@titiloyeblog.com

We have invested N900bn on power since assumption of office ? Osinbajo
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says the present administration has invested N900 billion in the power sector since it took over from the last administration in 2015.

Osinbajo revealed this during his courtesy visit to Chike Edozien, the Asagba of Asaba, on Friday. Noting that one of the problems in the power sector is that Distribution Companies (Discos) control a particular territory, the Vice President stated that the Buhari Government is working towards resolving the challenges.

”Since assumption of office, we have invested so far in terms of support N700 billion in the power sector. Earlier, we invested N200 billion,” he said.
”And now we are saying that any company that wants to provide power to any territory, should be able to provide power for the territory and the people. We have been able to break the existing monopoly in the power sector. Whether upgrade or not, the DisCos should be able to serve the people. Another strategy we are trying to introduce is to open up the power sector by restructuring", he added.

PoliticsInsecurity: Buhari Vows Punishment On Murderous Herders, Terrorists by titiloyeblog(op): 5:53pm On Jul 06, 2019
@titiloyeblog.com

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday vowed that the federal government will not allow anyone who kills or maim another under any guise to go unpunished.

He spoke at the 2019 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) held at the Ikeja Cantonment, Lagos, in commemoration of the service’s 156th anniversary.

Buhari who was represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said the federal government was working seriously with other states to contain herders-farmers conflicts, banditry and terrorism saluting the army for its efforts to save the country from disintegration.

He said: “Nobody will be allowed to maim, kill or commit other crimes and escape. It is our duty to apprehend and punish these criminals and we are doing and will continue to do so.

“Herder and farmer conflicts, random killings, banditry and kidnapping some attributed to Fulani bandits, in different parts of the country are extant challenges that the army has had to intervene in on several occasions. I want to reassure all Nigerians that these issues are being seriously tackled by the Federal Government, working with the states, through a multi-pronged approach.

“You will be hearing a lot more about these solutions in the weeks and months ahead. Law enforcement is, of course, an important element of the response.

“We have seen an unprecedented ramping up of the deployment of military personnel- multi-agency intervention squads like Operation Whirlstroke. The training and deployment of Special Forces, new Forward Operating Bases, and so on – to the flashpoints, in the last eighteen months.

“Several bandits’ hideouts and camps have been destroyed, and hundreds of arrests have been made, and it is now up to our judicial systems to ensure that justice is meted out not just comprehensively but also in a timely manner.”

CelebritiesMoney, Fame And Power Is Not Everything - Simi Tells Nigerians by titiloyeblog(op): 11:15am On Jul 05, 2019
@titiloyeblog.com

Nigerian popular female artist, Simi, the wife to Adekunle Gold has shared her bitter experience about the country and has also provided possible means to come out of the mud the country is into. She addressed this issue on her Instagram page. And below were her words;

Mannnn! I just saw these tweets and it was bittersweet for me . Imagine the magic we could do in this country if it were conducive. If electricity was stable. If the health sector was reliable. If public education was up to standard, etc... We Nigerians go outside and give out the magic we could so easily bestow on our own land because even when u try to work it here, it doesn't work. Doctors, creatives, tech people, entrepreneurs...etc. We're capable - we just need a chance to show it.

I wish with all my heart the leaders would put Nigeria and the people first. Not their greed, nor their thirst for power. Imagine, just imagine actually making this country work and having ur children grow up proud they were born to people that care enough to make a difference for everyone - not just for themselves. Imagine foreigners being desperate to come to Nigeria because it's incredible.

Also, bloggers, you need to do better men. Most Nigerians go to you for ALL of their Nigerian news and most of what you have to offer is the pain, the bad, the evil, the chaos. People come to u and practically everything u have to say is depressing. Everyone else sells their country so well, we wanna run there - but we drag our country in the mud so well, nobody sees anything good in us.

Also the people, everything has been difficult and frustrating so long, you're becoming the thing you detest. We don't even try anymore. We're just as bad. Break the law cos you can. You steal cos you can. No one understands that all we have is us. And when we lose that, we have nothing left. There'll always be stupid people - but you definitely don't have to be one of them.

Do better. Think bigger. Money, fame, power, likes, talent, traffic is not everything. It only lasts as long as people are paying attention. Do better.

PoliticsBuhari Vows To Leave Nigeria Better Than He Met It by titiloyeblog(op): 11:21am On Jul 03, 2019
@titiloyeblog.com

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that he would leave Nigeria better than when he assumed its leadership by focusing on the tripod of tackling insecurity, promoting economic diversification and fighting corruption.
To this end, Buhari promised to pursue inclusive and participatory growth that would create opportunities for all.

The president Buhari made the pledge when he received members of the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday.

He, however, warned that; “until Nigerians accept new values and cultivate better ways of living, the old ways of doing things will keep holding Nigeria back’’.

“We would continue to intensify our efforts and ensure that our promises to Nigerians are kept and fulfilled.

“One message that is dear to me, which I urge you to propagate is that I am determined to end security challenges we are facing in the country and make Nigeria a peaceful and a prosperous country.

“I campaign on three simple promises not different from those of 2015; to tackle insecurity, promote economic diversification and fight corruption.

Fulfilling these three promises are fundamental to taking Nigeria to the next level.”

He said efforts were made in the last four years to return Nigeria to a path of sustainable growth, especially in re-energizing the economy.

Buhari appreciated BMO for its diligence and sacrifices in ensuring effective communication with Nigerians, in spite of distractions.

“It is not an easy job to sell this administration’s successes: we are doing unpopular things in the face of powerful individuals and taking on vested interests who are accustomed to the corrupt old order.

“But we must do things the right way; if we promised change, then we must deliver it, regardless of whose interest we touch. There must be a manifest departure from the old order,’’ he stated.

The President commended the organization for supporting his vision since 2014 and propagating the achievements of the administration since 2015.

The Coordinator of the organization and Senior Special Assistant to the President, Malam Garba Shehu, said the group had grown into an institution.

Shehu said it was in place before elections in 2015, it remained throughout the President’s first term, and will outlive the second term.

He said the organization remained committed to the advancement of the Buhari presidency, attributing its survival to some good spirited Nigerians.

The Chairman of BMO, Chief Niyi Akinsiju, said the organization’s “situation room” had met every day since 2015, following the president’s directive that it should be cultivated into a communication hub after winning the elections.

Akinsiju said Buhari’s administration had achieved more than his predecessors, listing some of the key milestones to include resuscitation of railway, road and housing projects.

He also lauded the administration for initiating a social security platform that had catered for about 12 million Nigerians.

According to the BMO chairman, the revolution in the agricultural sector is historical with evidence of lifting many farmers out of poverty.

He, therefore, assured the President that BMO would work to propagate achievements of the second term, already branded Next Level.

Crime"I Was Also Beaten" - Senator Abbo Explains His Side Of The Story by titiloyeblog(op): 10:50am On Jul 03, 2019
@titiloyeblog.com

According to a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage obtained by Premium Times, Abbo assaulted the woman after she supported the shop owner whom the lawmaker had accused of insulting him.

The incident reportedly happened on May 11, 2019, exactly one month before the 41-year-old lawmaker was sworn into the 9th Senate.

The emergence of the video has led to widespread outrage, with many Nigerians calling for the lawmaker to be suspended by the Senate, and prosecuted by the Police.

However, in his response to the video, Senator Abbo told Channels Television the narrative has been twisted to achieve an agenda against him.

Contrary to the initial report that the altercation started after one of the three young women that came with him to the shop started vomiting, the lawmaker said his sister was actually beaten up inside the shop.

Senator Abbo alleged that the video was compressed with certain parts cut out and persistently noted that the incident happened a long time ago.

He said, "We'll soon release an official statement to the very old video that happened before I became a senator where my younger sister was beaten to a pulp in a shop and I was called upon there.

"I had to call an ambulance and the Police to come to the scene and it got out of hand while I was also beaten...assaulted really. It's an old video but we'll soon release a statement."

Despite noting again that the video was old, the senator briefly expressed remorse over the incident.

"It's an old video that happened long before I became a senator but that doesn't mean that it's not something that I'm happy about," he said.

However, the lawmaker once again insinuated that the video is only now public because he's a politician.

"They cut off so many things there and are trying to exhume it now. Well, this is a political season and I'm now a politician. And politicians are not people who are liked," he said.

Even though Premium Times said the incident happened in May, Abbo told BBC in a separate interview that it actually happened on March 11, 2019.

However, despite his protests that it happened before he became a senator, he was already senator-elect in March. The National Assembly elections took place on February 23.

When he was directly asked if it was him in the video assaulting the lady, he was evasive and said he'll respond "when the right time comes."

The senator said he'll release a more robust response later on Wednesday, July 3, and will demand that the entire video be released.

What happened

Abbo had reportedly arrived at the shop around 6 pm on May 11 with three young women to buy intimacy gadgets. However, one of the women soon started throwing up, leading to the shop owner displaying irritation at the mess created.

This resulted in the lawmaker accusing the shop owner, a young woman, of poisoning the store's air conditioner, an accusation that then led to an exchange of words between both parties.

In the footage, Abbo was seen waiting inside the shop making calls and was soon joined by a police officer whom he asked to arrest the shop owner he described as a friend.

"She insulted me. She said I'm drunk, stupid and mad," he told the officer.

The shop owner promptly called her father on the phone to explain the situation, but this angered Abbo who angrily told her to disconnect the call and made an attempt to snatch the phone.

An attempt by a friend of the shop owner to intervene angered the lawmaker more, leading to him approaching her and pushing her in the head. He then proceeded to slap her three times.

Abbo kept calling her stupid for her intervention and commanded the officers to arrest both women.

"I'll make an example of you," he said to the shop owner after he assaulted woman was first led outside.

The assaulted woman was taken to a hospital the next day and was treated for eye inflammation and other injuries she sustained during the attack, according to Premium Times.

The assault was reported at the Maitama Area Command Headquarters on May 14, with the victim demanding an apology from the lawmaker. She also demanded he should foot her medical bill and desist from further threats of physical harm against her.

Police officers have reportedly failed to act since the complaint was made, instead of asking the victim to find Abbo's telephone number so they can reach him.

The lawmaker had reportedly returned to the shop in a panic to inquire about the CCTV but he was told that it was not functioning.

He threatened to deal with the establishment if the footage of his violence ever surfaced, according to Premium Times.

The victim of the assault and the store owner declined to comment on the story for fear of backlash from the lawmaker. Witnesses and sources that spoke to Premium Times also wished to remain anonymous for safety reasons.

In her complaint to the police, the assaulted victim also demanded a criminal investigation and possible prosecution of Senator Abbo.

The senator is not protected by immunity from the law and can be prosecuted for the assault.

PoliticsRivers Government Rejects RUGA Settlements by titiloyeblog(op): 10:40am On Jul 03, 2019
Rivers State Government has stated that it will not participate in the planned settlements for herdsmen.

In a statement released and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Paulinus Nsiri, the government said the state has no land for the implementation of such a policy. It noted that in his second term as Governor, Nyesom Wike has prioritized commercial agriculture, hence all available arable land in the state would be needed to drive commercial agriculture across the state to create employment for Rivers youths.

The State Government emphasized that it has not given any approval for the siting of Ruga settlements anywhere in Rivers State and no such approval will ever come from the Rivers State Government.

The statement reiterated that the Governor would continue to defend the interest of Rivers people, who have overwhelmingly rejected Cattle Colonies, Ruga Settlements, and any such policy.

“Rivers indigenes are hereby advised to join the State Government to protect all arable lands by reporting any form of encroachment under whatever guise”, the statement added.
