IS BELOW EXTRACT REALLY GENUINE ECONOMIC ANALYSIS ? Compared to the current period the Jonathan years were simply heaven ======================================================================================== Under the five-year reign of Goodluck Jonathan from May 2010 to May 2015, growth rate dropped from eight per cent to 2.31 per cent; inflation rate declined from 14.10 per cent to 7.98 per cent while unemployment slowed down from 19.70 per cent to 6.41 per cent. In comparison, the growth rate stood at 2.31 per cent during the eight years reign of Muhammadu Buhari from May 2015 to May 2023; inflation, however, spiked from 7.98 per cent to 22.22 per cent while unemployment rate increased from 6.41 per cent to 33.28 per cent. While the official exchange rate moved from N149.99/$ to N196.95 under Jonathan, it galloped from N196.95/$ to N461.06/$ under Buhari. Under Jonathan, external reserves dropped from $37.47bn to $28.34bn while the current account balance as percentage of GDP dropped from 8.33 per cent to 0.18 per cent. The Buhari’s administration took external reserves from $28.34bn to $35.15bn while the current account balance as percentage of GDP moved from 0.18 per cent to 0.21 per cent. Public debt as percentage of GDP, revenue as percentage of GDP and expenditure as percentage of GDP moved from 8.79 per cent to 12.42 per cent, 5.60 per cent to 3.60 per cent and 7.57 per cent to 4.57 per cent respectively under Jonathan. Under Buhari, it moved from 12.42 per cent to 22.85 per cent, 3.60 per cent to 2.62 per cent and 4.57 per cent to 6.62 per cent respectively. Jonathan took the money supply-GDP ratio from 22.29 per cent to 22.65 per cent, MPR from six per cent to 13 per cent and Equities Market Cap as percentage of GDP from 11.48 per cent to 12.73 per cent. On the other hand, Buhari moved the money supply-GDP ratio to 24.84 per cent from 22.65 per cent, MPR to 18.50 per cent from 13 per cent and Equities Market Cap as percentage of GDP to 13.79 per cent from 12.73 per cent. |

You use all your connection to deprive other places of progress so everybody is forced to go to Lagos even against their wish.
They use their salaries in Lagos, pay tax in Lagos and you want to deprive them of fundamental human rights of voting and being voted for in Lagos....haba |

seborrhic: Given time, transport cost and related prices would normalise and reduce from the initial high levels because there would be adjustments and cost saving measures employed by people, forcing transporters to reduce their prices because of reduced patronage. For eg,many people that work far from their residence would start squatting with friends or find temporary accommodation near their places of work,so if they go Monday they only return weekends. So what made this position untrue in 2012 when Jonathan did removed subsidy and you guys locked down the system in protest ? |

MetaBroadband: Good morning mature men and women in the house. Please I need your help on this topic.
My Fiancee told me about how her biological dad abandoned her and her mum after getting her mum pregnant.
Her mum later married another man who adopted her as his child.
Now she's grown and I've proposed to her, I wanted to go for her official introduction and list collection.
Would it not be nice to hear the biological father's opinion? Should I just ignore the fact that the man is still alive and proceed with the marriage arrangement?
Although she said I should not bother about that, but this is Nigeria and as an Akwa Ibomite I don't think it's proper. Although she's against me trying to find out about the man's opinion. Should I care?
Note: she only told me that the man abandoned them, but what if it was her mum that actually took her away? It would have been nice to see the bio father but on what basis? What is the link or connection to follow. In all your dating days you were not introduced to the bio father at any time. If your girl has introduced her "father" and mother to you and you have been interacting with them ever since then you do not have any reason to go beyond that level. You may only go to the biological father if your girl says so or if the bio father somehow got wind of the marriage and requested that you see him. |

Rikze: This is very very correct 💯
Though I wasn't in Warri at the time all this happened. But I can see the shadows of the Glorious past.
Whenever I drive through DSC and its township I can't help but imagine what life was like then.
Or is it the Enerhe axis, Macdermoth, refinery, old airport and Osubi.
When you hear locals discuss what Warri was like, you'll know it was a city with great potentials killed by "deve".
PH almost towed same line with their "marching ground", "bush entry" and other crazy taxation by the indigenes. The saviour is that no war erupted, but it affected some companies to the point that govt at some point had to intervene.

Igboslayer: Going to Warri back then was a big battle. You can’t enter the city with any vehicle bearing the logo of a popular company. Anywhere you park Agebros will bombard you like bees asking for Deve. Benin also borrowed some format from this and drove many potential investors away. The Benin by pass saved a lot of people and businesses from Agberos lurking in every part of the city. Robbery is very common along the bypass till this day. These things are more elsewhere but companies dont leave...more of it is propaganda!! |
Travel › Re: Every Nigeria City Should Learn Something From The Collapse Of Warri. by Titogbanski: 7:44am On May 16, 2023 |
I used to believe all these stories that communal crisis brought Warri down......but for me that is not totally correct.
The major problems are as follows;
1. Lack of government focused attention to support and encourage industrial development. For a major oil producing state there is no single industrial complex like those you have in Port Harcourt, Kano or Lagos. That means Govt has not set aside, developed and marketed any industrial area of any kind for so many years.
2. Most major development occur in state capitals because it is the center of govt and the state governor is on hand to supervise, monitor and advance the progress of the capital at least and give it some profile. They will host national and international visitors e.g foreign heads of state, governors meetings etc. All of these attract development to the area not just of facilities but of minds and brings in exposure. All of these are absent in Warri area in spite of its prominence in Nigeria.
3. The government focused too much on the security side of things hence indirectly connoted the state as being very unsafe. Many people on their first trip meeting permanent sandbagged checkpoint especially at the airport gave them a very bad impression of the city even without witnessing any crime.
4. The unending construction of the entrance to town and total poor outlook of that entire area gives a very bad image of the town and a big discouragement to any would be investors.
5. Since 1999 the state govt has not lobbied or tried to create a lobby to attract any major federal investment to the state.
So while ethnic crisis or youth restiveness is an issue it is not a cause but the result of years of neglect and lack of development. |

I think the donor boy was told and agreed. It is when he reached London that he saw another opportunity to abscond.
The Ekweremadus wouldn't have gone the whole length of this journey without proper arrangement.
If the boy says he was not told he was going to donate kidney what was the reason they took him to London? He should tell us the reason he was taken to London first |

Christianity Etc › Re: Are Men Of God Above Criticism? by Titogbanski: 5:05am On Mar 06, 2023 |
minks: It is common in Christian circles to observe that whenever Pastors or other church leaders are rebuked or criticized openly for their errors, some members will rise up in their defence. They often use the Scripture, "Touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm," to try to cover up the sins of their church leader. But are men of God above criticism?
Scripturally, no human, including men of God no matter how highly placed, is above criticism. The higher one climbs spiritually, the more exposed they become to satanic attacks and this is the main reason these men of God should be made to be more accountable and transparent in the work that has been committed to them.
Moreover, men of God are also humans and are capable of making mistakes and also need correction from other Christians who may notice these mistakes that may not be apparent to them. This is exactly what Paul did when Peter got hypocritical with the Jews as we see in the scripture quoted below.
But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party. And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, “If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?” We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified. Galatians 2:11-16 (ESV)
We see Paul rebuking Peter sharply for his hypocrisy not minding Peter's position in the church. He criticized Peter's pretentious disposition in the presence of everyone and we didn't see anyone defending Peter's sin or feeling bad that their leader was being criticized publicly.
The word of God says that open rebuke is better than secret love. Every true man of God would love correction and will not be defensive when corrected. In the same way, true Christians will never feel the need to defend sin no matter who is involved. They are not above criticism but most Christians join to criticise and embarass men of God too much unlike other faiths which protects their own |

Jephthah007: By Comr Jephthah O. Johnson
“If there are any who desire to be strangers in their own country, foreigners in their own Cities and always children in knowledge; let them Please themselves, I write not for such humours”.
Wating Isoko do Urhobo
Many are times I hear people say Isoko people are wicked.... Mostly our Urhobo brothers are the major preachers of this bad tidings and false proclamation
The other day I have to ask one of them to mention Any bad or wicked act which any isoko Son or deugther has done to him.... And he was speechless...
You see Isoko was never The problem. But the one million U.S dollars question is How come this negative impression has pass on and succeeded over time.
I have to go back to time and History set the record strict.
The only thing Isoko did wrong was her refusal to be under her younger brother ( Urhobo ) a. K. a. Eastern Urhobo.
Yes the Urhobo are our younger brother; base on the fact that 1 ( One) many of the Urhobo community today migrated from our present day Isoko community....
e.g *The ancestors of Effurun-Otor in Ughelli local government area, LGA, came from ERHOWA in Isoko South LGA
*Agbon clan in Ethiope East LGA migrated from Irri. Agbon consists of Kokori, Okpara, (Inland & Waterside), and Eku towns.
*The present Okpe Clan in Urhoboland i.e. in Okpe and Sapele LGAs migrated from OKPE in Isoko NB: Ozoro settled in their present site whilst Okpe went further to Orerokpe their present settlement.
*There was further movement of Owhawha ancestors from Igbide in Isoko South LGA to settle in Jeremi clan, Ughelli South LGA.
#The only Isoko community that migrated from Urhoboland is Olomoro clan which descended from Olomu clan in Ughelli South LGA about 1750-1800 AD. " in fact Olomoro migrating from Olomu is even Debatable.
But the Urhobo grow so lucky in the sense that God bless her in land size and population... As a result of her blessings she wented her elder brother (Isoko) to be under her as long as she live....
Now my question is who is wicked between the two sons of Benin kingdom.
It is patient to note that isoko was never at anytime under the urhobo..... Their is difference between working for someone and working with someone.!!!
THE CREATION OF ISOKO DISTRICT COUNCIL
In 1951, the Richards Constitution came into operation in Nigeria. The Western Region Delimitation Commission created two constituencies from Eastern Urhobo Native Authority, NA, and elections to the Western House of Assembly were conducted by Electoral College system on individual or personal basis, although political parties were behind the candidates. Chief James Ekpre Otobo from Uzere for Isoko; Chief Mowarin for the other side of Eastern Urhobo NA. They both contested and won their elections to the Western House of Assembly, Ibadan. Chief James Otobo for NCNC and Chief Mowarin for Action Group.
At the 1954 general elections, Chief James Otobo again contested, this time under the platform of NCNC party and won and was returned to the Western House of Assembly. In 1957 Isoko was given a modicum of independence by the creation of Isoko District Council from Eastern Urhobo NA. Chief James Otobo influenced the creation during his tenure as a member representing Isoko at the Western House of Assembly, Ibadan.
Now NOTE: even when isoko and urhobo was join to together by miscalculation to from The Eastern Urhobo, Isoko still has her own separate constituency inside the so called Eastern Urhobo Native Authority, NA. Which was made up of two constituencies one for the isoko's and one for the urhobo's
Another wrong impression I want to correct is the phrase isoko people are steagy... How Can you say isoko men are stingy when we still have men like Demantach, Chief Afere Mrs Agidife, e. t. c. .... If u ask any isoko man for anything and he does not give it to you just know that he does not have... Remember no man can give what he does not have... ( Acts 3 vs 6 )
let me use this opportunity to appreciate and celebrate our isoko women... Isoko mother are the best set of women God ever created... Isoko women do not cheat on their husband at least if not all 95% are faithful. Isoko women are not just submissive but all so supportive.... Hard working.. .. I celebrate them.
