i don't quite understand .
are you suggesting because egypt ain't utilizing their drones means nigeria don't actually really need them that much?
this war is growing and it would keep evolving as it goes.
now as the game changing tucano's arrive which would sure give them a bloody nose. expect the introduction of manpads and sniper teams too.
its obvious we lack setuational awareness in the N.E.
even if this drones ain't expending their munitions its still a very very important asset . if my base is gonna get hit I sure as hell would appreciate a heads up.
this sons of whores most times drive in large convoys for maybe 100km+ to attack a base and still catch us pants down like 80% of the time.
that has to stop.
since we have super camps, setuational awareness should be the next big thing because patrols alone ain't just gonna cut it.
conclusion is. i don't care if we get a thousand drones. as long as the men in the trenches get the heads up with good amount of time to prepare along with real time reports of enemy movements during battles. setuational awareness is key.
grin I'm not saying so
I'm using Egypt even US is an example
They are considering two Turboprop aircrafts for CAS A29 and Another
Why not didn't they go for more drones
Doesn't that explains something
Very well drones are very important asset and we are getting some
10 on the way but Komekn says we should have at least gone for 50 grin to do what

I don't anchor my deductions on another persons irrespective of designation and or assumed knowledge. So whatever the CAS has to say is his opinion not mine.

"The A29 Turboprop Tucano is what we need" according to you. But, why, how or for what reasonhuhhuh

It is better to anchor your position with a substantive deduction, rational and or explanation, Unfortunately you give none. After all the time you have spent here l expected more.

The A29 Tucano is stupendously over priced and everything associated with it will be too. My suspicion are knowing the Americans you will only be able to attach compatible munitions, that is American or NATO sourced munitions. That means very expensive. Anything else will not be compatible.

It's a bit like some laptops and how they ensure that universal components will not be compatible and the inherent software in your laptop continously rejects it.

Quite some time ago l went into depth with regards to munitions costings. I used a published MOD official documents accessed under the access public information legislation UK.

With that l was able to make informed projections with regards to costs. My presumption is that the HMG ( 12.7mm) of the A29 will be used quite often as well as the guided rockets which are produced by BA systems.

You seem articulate and informed do a little bit of open source research. Do not be parochial and assumptive open your mind consider, balance and appraise. It will be beneficial to you as a person and increase your capacity. As well as intelligence.

But l remember if I am right you saying to that the NA, could not afford the N2A42 165X30 mm ammunition required for the BTR4. That they pleaded with the NAF who refused to give them any. As a consequence we have cannibalised the BTR4 and stuck on top of it a very rudimentary HMG. Rendering the precision RWS ineffective and obsolete.

The 2A42 ammunition is significantly cheaper by a huge margin than the 12.7mm and 20mm.

How many RPM is the rate of fire of A29 20mm and 12.7mm guns. Below an excerpt from a previous post on this topic.

So when we even get these overpriced A29 turboprop and then fire the 12.7 mm HMG for just 3 minutes it could cost you( UK MOD prices) $58,000.00. Now tell me that's sustainable in the Nigerian context

Now having that thought in mind how much does a near 100% accuracy Chinese sourced ATGM cost that is used by the Wing Loong II UAV. My estimation for the BA-7, Blue arrow ATGM is less than $15k per unit.
grin guy this your big big grammar grin
Just go straight to the point your quoting this.
Anyway
1.you asked What do we need the A29 for
ISR,Close air support,Air interdiction, Training
This is seen as the perfect platforms for this role not drones True or False
Note:Drone can be used in CTCOIN warfare to take out certain targets and also ISR
Case study: Nigeria used the CH-3A drone to take out an Artillery smuggled into Nigeria by BHT,NAF took out a BHT commander and his followers in a camp in 2014 with a drone,NAF took out another commander that fled with his vehicle around 2016

But when it comes to Taking out fleeing targets scampering around for safety during air interdiction A29 will do the job with it's guns and guided/unguided rockets
Same as close air support.
2.i have never contributed to the NA BTR4 ammunition talk, cos I don't know anything about it grin
3. Don't you think the CAS has put these into consideration before going for the A29
We don't just pick aircrafts off the shelf ; CAS
There's a reason he said it....

It's because they want to use to cover their deficiencies. Army hierarchy have chosen a new strategy of 'Whack a mole' against terrorists.

MALE/SIGINT drones are more essential intercepting comms of enemy forces and making something useful out of the info gathered.
i don't understand the part deficiency
But still they are fighting terrorism like we are, they recently are experiencing IED and Sniper attacks In Sinai.
They have Drones around 40 or more if I'm not mistaking why aren't they employing it as to what Komekn is suggesting.
They even bought the Air tractor configured for combat for insurgency wars

Egypt for example has more drones than us which includes the Wingloog,CH5 e.t.c
But around Aug 2-6 their military suffering several IED attacks and also Sniper attack on a check point also last week isis shot down a Small hand launched drone of Egypt military.
My point is they do have the drones(Wingloog) but why aren't they employing it as he suggested ?

Army Transfers Lance Corporal Martins To Sokoto For Secret Arraignment Before Martial Court

Idakpini was arrested in June 2020 shortly after he made a viral video castigating Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Burutai, for the failings of the army to combat and destroy Boko Haram.

The Nigerian Army has transferred Lance Corporal Martins Idakpini to Sokoto in a bid to secretly arraign him before a martial court.

Tope Akinyode, Idakpini's lawyer, made the disclosure on Saturday.

Akinyode said, "Information reaching me right now indicates that Lance Corporal Martins has been surreptitiously moved from Abuja to Sokoto to be tried before a martial court on Monday.

"I'm also informed that the army is forcing a lawyer from within the Force on Lance Corporal Martins in a desperate attempt to jeopardise the case and wrongly convict the detained soldier.

"Lance Corporal Martins has been brutalised and subjected to a great deal of dehumanising treatment. He was also denied food and has therefore developed ulcer."

Idakpini was arrested in June 2020 shortly after he made a viral video castigating Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Burutai, for the failings of the army to combat and destroy Boko Haram.

Since his arrest, he has remained in detention, incomunicado.

Army Blocks Lance Corporal Martins From Seeing Lawyer And Family Despite Court Order

On July 22, 2020, an Abuja Federal High Court ordered the army to grant the detained soldier immediate access to his lawyer and family after Akinyode argued an ex parte.

Justice AI Chikere held that it was a continuous breach of the detained soldier's fundamental human rights to be denied access to his lawyer and family.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuANgLDzXB0

However, Akinyode who is also the National President of Revolutionary Lawyers' Forum, said the army refused to grant him access to his client despite being served copies of the court processes.

Akinyode said, "We wrote the AGF and Chief of Army Staff to notify them of the court order. I also called the AGF on phone and he assured me the court order would be obeyed. But myself and Lance Corporal Martins' wife visited the army headquarters thrice to see my client, but we were blocked."

Akinyode, who vowed to resist the move by the army, said refusal of the Nigerian Government to obey court orders ridicules the country in the global community.

Exceedingly fab the quest for excellence does not have to be compromised because you are in Nigeria.

They are competing on a global scale to do that you need international certification for quality. And they have a quality product.

The Nigerian government should be encouraging them to increase capacity by giving them a contract for a 1000 vehicles. This vehicle should be the standard transport for the NA.

Proforce should be creating their own RWS I think they have the capacity.

I wonder whyhuh
guy na money na Many people has talked let the govt give them 1000 vehicle contract.
The Govt is patronizing them
The Kraz logistics trucks purchase by the army will be built by proforce in collaboration with auto Kraz of Ukraine

I actually my preference was for 50 but in terms of effectiveness and best value.

Which would you rather prefer 2 A29 Tucano or 75 Wing Loong II UAV's. In all honesty ❓

But you must look at cost effective solutions and in this regard. Boko setting up Ambush and or driving with reckless abandon across the NE in convoys of pick up gun trucks to attack NA positions will be impossible.
I remembered you saying we using ATGM against Boko Haram rickety guntrucks will be expensive..
1.Will the munitions deployed by Wingloog be cheaper obviously No grin
I get your point but The A29 is what we need @ the point in time...(I know you'll say something concerning this)

On August 13, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) dispatched a group of Helicopter gunships and fighter jets to target Ansaru position in the Kuduru forest in Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria.

In a statement shared on August 15, Major General John Enenche, the Coordinator Defence Media Operations disclosed that the Air Component of Operation Thunder Strike has neutralized several armed bandits at their camp in the Kuduru Forest area of Kaduna State.

“This was achieved through air strikes on August 13, 2020 on the heels of intelligence reports indicating the convergence of members of Ansaru Terrorist Sect-linked bandits group, led by one Mallam Abba, at the location.

“Aerial surveillance missions conducted over the area also observed several bandits, some wielding weapons, in the forest,” he said.

Enenche added that Nigerian Air Force jets and helicopter gunships were therefore tasked to attack the location.

Several of the “bandits” were killed as the attack aircraft strafed the area, while others attempting to escape were mopped-up in follow-on attacks.

On August 7, the Al-Qaeda affiliate Ansaru claimed responsibility for an attack in Kaduna State.

On January 17, 2020 the same group claimed responsibility after it targeted the convoy of the Emir of Potiskum, Yobe State in Kaduna.

In response to the renewed threat from Ansaru, Special Operatives of Operation Puff Adder of the Nigeria Police backed by Counter Terrorism, Intelligence and the Police Airwing helicopter stormed Ansaru camp in Kuduru Forest.

In November 2013, the United States Department of State declared Ansaru, alongside Boko Haram, as foreign terrorist organizations.

The United Nations Security Council, the United Kingdom and the New Zealand government have also listed Ansaru as a terrorist organization.

Very simple, we know the areas of contention and the supply channels. So let me induce you to think expansively and with depth.

What's the area of extensive vision for the Wing Loong II UAV at high altitude of say 30,000ft, first question❓

Second question is what is the optimimum cruising speed of the Wing Loong II, second question ❓ ❓

So effectively what then is the effective coverage per square kilometres on the ground every hour or every thirty minutes if you like.

Then you apply that figure to the areas of interest and contention. And then you can understand you do not need to have coverage over 700,000sq km of the Nigeria.

Now that you may have got some understanding rephrase your question from standpoint of knowledge and understanding please.
very good points but my question is what will we be using 75 Wingloog for Cos what you just said now it's like the capability of only one if I'm not mistaking

First of all we start of from Best value and greatest impact.

You need 24/7/365 situational awareness. ISTAR across the entire North. We have bandits, Jihadists and herdsmen running wild and holding whole areas to ransom.

Some argue that all these groups have links and are operating in some form of unison.

The cost of two overpriced A29 turboprop will get you near 75 Wing Loong II UAV's.

It means that precision strikes can be carried out but near 40 hours endurance means no hiding place for Boko and it's associats.

Finally, it's more cost effective and operationally greater impact.
now can the 75 or 50 Wingloog uav be deployed in swarms

They don't need 10 they should get at least 50, our procurement is done I dribs and drabs to the point it becomes negligible.

Countries on our level procurement is done in multiples of 100's not 10's. How many Chinese MBT did we buy and what effect will that have come considering the vast area and multiple points of contention now across the entire North.

In continuation of the air offensive against terrorist elements in the North East of the country, the Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, has eliminated scores of Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters and destroyed compounds housing them at Tongule in the Lake Chad area of Northern Borno. The air strikes were conducted on 12 August 2020 following credible Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports indicating terrorists’ activities in the village.
Accordingly, following confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which showed presence of a sizable number of the ISWAP elements at designated locations in the settlement, the Air Task Force dispatched a force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets to attack the location. The NAF Jets took turns in engaging the location scoring devastating hits on the designated targets leading to the destruction of the structures as well as the neutralization of several ISWAP fighters.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, commends the Air Task Force for their dedication and professionalism and urges them to intensify the air offensive against the terrorists and all other criminal elements in the country.
