Have you heard of the term sitting ducks.

Then people will say somebody is giving information to BOKO.

Just look at the way they are moving in a huge convoy no offensive and or defensive formation. They might as well mount a huge speaker announcing that they are on their way.
now I'm sure most of you didn't watch the video Actually they just finished setting on fire a BHT ISWAP camp...
Tho that doesn't justify their way/mode of transportation and mobility.
From what I see it's almost like a battalion or brigade moving to set up another FOB after a successful op
Judging from the Possibly fuel or Water tank, Logistics trucks.
But why didn't they just park all Logistics into 1/2 up Armoured yellow bucket, Troops will move in MRAP or Guntrucks not parking them in a lorry.

Are you suggesting that on the basis of a video in an air show you will make a deduction on the capacity, reliability and superiority by visual alone.

Thats shocking.

I could get a Innoson G80 ( Chinese assembled BAIC BJ80 ) pitch it against a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon AMG 63 and visually you may not notice the difference that much. But i can assure if you drive them they are world apart.

My view is simplistic if nobody else has bought this aircraft apart from Mynmar, it tells us something. Then you consider that Pakistan does not have a long standing quality manufacturing and or technological base to underpin its production of this aircraft.

Would any of you buy a Pakistani made brand new car even if it was dirt cheap, there will still be a debate id rather have a 3/4 year proven established brand.

But that's the other problem, it is not dirt cheap, for what it is , it is way TOO EXPENSIVE.

In reality our long term strategic planning has been very weak we are waking up when the ships already set sail. These are things that should have done decades ago. We are probably down to a dozen operational fighter aircraft, and as a result the NAF lacks capacity to meet current threats forget about future projected ones.

My other issue is we are not the Gambia we have neighbors amassing weaponry at an exponential rate like Egypt, Algeria and we are looking at them like we are not bothered.
Good points but lemme correct somethings Just because Myanmar, Pakistan and China but most importantly ( Myanmar) is the Only export user doesn't mean the Jet is that bad you can't come to the conclusion that it means something when yet it's not proven like others( I wouldn't take the Indo/Pak scenario serious too much misinformations grin)

So because China said the BAIC BJ80 is better than the Mercedes- Benz. G-Wagon AMG 63.

You will therefore believe them because the look similar, from shameless copy engineering.

This is an aircraft that has one other customer apart from Nigeria and that's Myanmar.

That in itself should tell you something.
Guy chill grin No other airforce having it doesn't mean they don't want it or it's useless Egypt and some other countries has shown interest in the Aircraft most of the Recent Paris Air show JF17 was a star attraction

How man go do na. It's not easy working in the deep fields. Aside even BH wahala it is so boring in the field. Especially some field locations without a mobile network.

For Example Monguno's Airtel you can barely call with it. I worked for close to 2years in Monguno going to bed after close of work without calls or internet access. Do you think it's easy for someone who has enjoyed city life to undergo this trauma? grin

I had to travel almost every Saturday so I can have proper access to talk to my Mum.

Below a Chat I had with my friend two days ago still working in Monguno. Field work no easy especially the kind of tension it brings to our loved ones far away

There are 4 different issues in my write up.

The first and most pertinent is the ineptitude in munitions procurement that has rendered a good quality APC and possible quasi IFV essentially useless.

My response was factual and substantive but you completely bypass the substance of that.

You then center on the A29.

But it's Saturday morning and l will indulge you. Let me break things down simplistically, that even you with your pre-conceived notions routed in sentiments not substantive inferences. Will have to reconsider your position.

First of all in order to make an objective deduction on price, first thing we need is comparison.

Breaking down the cost of purchase and maintenance of an asset is not justification for best value.

If l buy a Toyota Tundra V8 4x4 and break down its costings capital as well recurrent expenditure (maintenance and running costs). Is that suffice to say it's best value❓

The reasonable thing if not basic common sense thing to do, would be to make a comparison on, capital procurement cost, running and maintenance costs. As well as efficiency reliability and perfomance. With other comparable vehicles.

So l would then compare the Tundra with the Nissan Titan V8, Dodge Ram V8, and the Ford F150 V8.

I can then after that comparison say the Toyota is best value and or the best platform.

After taking all variables, I then do not find any outstanding advantage for the Toyota over the other vehicles.

But with price comparison the Toyota Tundra costs $80k and the Ford costs $20k, the Dodge $22k, the Nissan $18k would you not then say the Toyota is grossly over priced.

Now transpose if you like this conceptual framework to the A29 Tucano. That's my reasoning and framework for coming to my conclusion about the A29. By comparison to other turboprop aircraft platforms.

You should know by now that if I say something it will not be whimsical. Even if you have taken a dislike to my opinion. Contend with substance not emotive sentiment based prejudice.

What is yourshuh
I'm only interested in the A29 cool

Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Toju200(m): 10:30am On Jul 25, 2020
Air interdiction missions being conducted by the Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJI have yielded more positive results with the destruction of a new camp belonging to the armed gang headed by the bandit leader known as “Dangote” in the Doumborou Forest area of Zamfara State. The air strike, which also resulted in the killing of several armed bandits, was executed on 23 July 2020 after Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports as well as series of confirmatory aerial surveillance missions established that members of the gang, along with their logistics items, motorcycles and hundreds of rustled livestock, had relocated from their erstwhile position to new area by a rocky high ground within the Forest.

2. The Air Component therefore dispatched an enhanced force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets and helicopter gunships to attack the location. The attack aircraft engaged the target area scoring accurate hits and taking out some of the bandits. Many others, who were seen trying to flee the location in disarray, were mopped-up in follow-on attacks.

3. While commending the Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJI for their professionalism, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has urged them to remain resolute in the conduct of air strikes whilst continuing to provide close air support for ongoing ground operations in order to eradicate all armed bandits; thus accomplishing the directives of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) to restore normalcy in the North West and North Central Zones of the Country.

Imagine what the Aradu has become. Smh.

NNS Thunder and Okpabana are decades older than the Aradu; yet they are still strong and sailing. Whereas our own Aradu (that has nuclear bioligical and chemical defence) is gone.

The company that quoted $250million to refit the Aradu, didn't want the job.

Some Asian countries might have accepted less to fully refit this ship for us and give it another 20years.

And it was naive to believe $250million can buy a ship like the Aradu.
if I may ask what has she become...
Thunder and opkabana older than aradu dude are u Even listing to your self..

Sorry for the late response.

First of all as ludicrous as it sounds it is not completely without credence. However, it smacks of crass ineptitude in munitions projection and procurement, by the NA very poor supply chain management.

So if you could not afford the munitions why buy the APC in the first place. Then render it almost useless by not making use of it precision weaponry. It doesn't make sense. Now if l know where to get these munitions at cheap prices in comparison to the NAF. They must know, it's inexcusable.

We are talking about the 2A42 - 30×165mm ammunition. It's manufacturered in a duplicity of countries outside of the Eastern block in most of the main variants, HEI, AP, HE-T.

The entire Eastern block is awash with this ammunition. However, it can be procured cheaply in Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkey among so many countries.

Boxed crates of 100 rounds approximately for $200 per crate, possibly even less. I could get a definitive price but don't want too much attention coming my way by MI5 and get put on the watch list.

However, if you choose to buy from the USA then you could be talking for there supposed precision engineered rounds $65 dollars per round. Yes for just one round.

This is a problem with US sourced munitions, a precision 12.7mm incendiary round can cost up too $75 used on a Barrett M82A1 50. Cal Sniper rifle. However, if you procure from Pakistan it is a fraction of that cost.

I am suprised we don't produce these munitions ourselves. I haven't been able to confirm but l think the Sudanese munitions industry produces the 2A42 ammunition. So that's another source as well as SA but they will be over priced.

So when we even get these overpriced A29 turboprop and then fire the 12.7 mm HMG for just 3 minutes it could cost you( UK MOD prices) $58,000.00. Now tell me that's sustainable in the Nigerian context.

I am even being on the low side with munitions cost procured from the UK not USA.

Meanwhile someone was arguing with me that the cost of an Wing Loong II UAV is not viable. Chinese munitions cost a fraction of the cost of USA sourced munitions.
guy just tell me you hate the Tucano cos it's turbo prop stop using over priced to cover up..
We have broken down the sum of everything still what's over priced there...
