What the Bible Says

There is no specific prohibition in the Bible against sex between an unmarried man and unmarried woman. However, "sexual immorality" is denounced in about 25 passages in the New Testament. The word translated as "sexual immorality" or "fornication" in English versions of the Bible is the Greek word porneia, which means "illicit sexual intercourse."
Jesus said this:

[Jesus] said, "It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person." (NRSV, Mark 7:20-23)

The apostle Paul wrote these verses:

The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. (NIV, Galatians 5:19-21)

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins people commit are outside their bodies, but those who sin sexually sin against their own bodies. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. (TNIV, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20)

It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; (TNIV, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5)

The Bible does not provide a specific list of acts that constitute "sexual immorality," but these verses, also written by Paul, seem to say that any sexual intercourse, except between husband and wife, would be wrong:

Now concerning the matters about which you wrote: "It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman." But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. (English Standard Version, 1 Corinthians 7:1-5)

Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am. But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion. (NIV, 1 Corinthians 7:8-9)

Temptation
In our sex-saturated culture, many unmarried people, especially teenagers, feel pressured to be sexually active. The temptations now may be greater than ever because people are delaying marriage until their late 20s or 30s. However, the Bible consistently teaches self-control rather than self-indulgence (Galatians 5:19-24, 1 Corinthians 10:13). In Biblical teachings, the privilege of having sex requires the commitment of marriage. Sexually-transmitted diseases, unintended pregnancy, and emotional pain are too often the price paid for sex without marriage.

I usually don't comment very often, but I followed your comment on a thread only to see you have created a thread for it.
It will interest you that Jesus attached no importance to positions. In the garden, we read thus:
Luke 22:41 And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He KNELT down and began to pray,
Luke 22:42 saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.”
But did you know the position of prayer Jesus used as an example was standing, not even the kneeling position?
Mark 11:25 And when you STAND praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."
Why the variation? Because your position does not matter with God! The content of your worship is paramount to God than posture. What matters is where the worship comes from and the nature of the worship.
John 4:24 "
God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
They will not worship God standing or kneeling or prostrate. Those are outward signs of worship in the Old Covenant. The New Covenant is based on the Spirit and Truth.
I better stop here before I type stuffs that some may not understand.
But sir, it is worship in spirit, not worship while kneeling. In fact, you can worship God on your bed and enjoy his mighty presence right there on your bed. Jesus has shown us -by his life and teachings- that the Father is not complex like we have imagined.
We have liberty in his presence forevermore!

I only logged in after several months to comment on this post. I am not up to 25 and will leave the thread after this post,but i must commend the OP. This is a great and thoughtful post,completely occupied and introverted persons may find it beneficial.

Funny comments all through. But not all of you are right.
Let me tell you the categories of celestial (or any white garment church) members
1. The ignorants. They are too ignorant of the proper ways of worship and having good relationship with God. Hence, they see nothing wrong in what goes on in their church. Such members can't even tell you five books in the new testaments, all they know is psalm, proverbs and Isaiah.
2. The lazy, dirty and greedy. These ones know the right thing but will never dare doing it. Why? Because their personal ways are not pure and therefore prefer meeting their shepherds and prophets for spiritual (there kind of spiritual) help to praying and waiting on GOD. Eg, olósho, Yahoo boys, drivers, market women(bleached and sharp mouthed ones), politicians etc
3. The change agents. These ones know the truth and they are free indeed but they are still in the church because they've taken it upon themselves to make a change and this has given birth to new white garment churches that are now doing it right.

Before you come for me, ensure you have your facts coz I'm writing from experience.
Nonetheless, I take no part in condemning churches because only God knows His own.
