Car TalkRe: Is CR-V Good For Nigerian Roads? by tolajay(op): 3:20pm On Apr 18, 2019
wink wink

Thanks

greenhulk:
1. All CR-V are 4 cylinders. They don't make them in v6.

2.0 and 2.4L i4. Only the latest models come with turbo charged 1.5L i4. The second gen (2006-2011) come in 2.4L i4.

3. Very good, just see as the Honda Civic of suv.

4. Is this ine even a question? If money is not a factor then u know the answer.

Car TalkIs CR-V Good For Nigerian Roads? by tolajay(op):
Hello Gurus,

I’m considering getting a Honda CR-V (2005 - 2008) as a first time ride in Lagos.

I’d like to know;

1. Are all CR-V six plugs (V6)?

2. Are they all 2.4Ltr or 1.8Ltr (Think I missed the term huh)

3. Are CRVs good for Nigerian roads and for a first time owner - maintenance, efficiency and fuel economy?

4. And what are the average costs - foreign and Naija used?

Thanks for your time and contributions.
Car TalkRe: What Is The Average Mileage Of Car Per Year In Nigeria by tolajay: 4:32pm On Apr 17, 2019
Interesting thread.

Let me ask, what is the average (highest) mileage a car (both foreign and NAIJA used) should be have when purchasing for use in Nigeria?
AutosRe: Foreign Used Honda Pilot 2004 Silver >negotiable by tolajay: 2:58pm On Apr 17, 2019
Do you know why you don’t make sales easily?

You come across as a con man.

Consider it yourself, you put up an advert of a ride for sale, but you didn’t state the price and all you could put is “negotiable”.

What are you negotiating? A priceless ride?

You must be a joker...But all the best.

Yes, it’s now closed.

I got a response email from school confirming the closure. They, however, said a new application phase will open in August.

Best.

Car TalkRe: What Car Can I Get For N1m? by tolajay(op):
Thank you for the insightful comment.

Would you advise Honda Accord, say 2005 - 2008?

slex:
1. U can still get tokunbo Camry 1999, Corolla 1999/2000 and if u can up ur budget 1.2–Toks Honda Accord 2004

2. Nigerian used sadGood engine and ok interior )
Honda Civic (small tank and good fuel economy but low ground clearance)

Toyota Corolla 03-05(good fuel economy and ground clearance but a car parts and robbers delight)

Camry 2000 ( not bad in general but the fuel economy not that good if you drive around a lot)

Camry 2003-2004(dame as above)

Volkswagen Passat/ Jetta 2007-09 ( fuel economy not bad , cheaper parts than corolla and Honda but you need to find a good technician)

And so on.

Thanks.

But I heard the fuel consumption is high.

Do you have a personal experience?

legalwealth:
Go for say Toyota Camry 2001 a.k.a drop light.

You can still see clean registered one for amount lesser than 1M while you reserve what is left for few fixes and maintenance. Thanks
Car TalkRe: What Car Can I Get For N1m? by tolajay(op): 1:13pm On Apr 05, 2019
Thanks.

But this sounds scary...Using a 1999 car in 2019, that's like 20 years difference.

Toyota Camry 1999
Car TalkRe: What Car Can I Get For N1m? by tolajay(op): 1:12pm On Apr 05, 2019

frankyfranky:
Definitely, it must be a fairly used car bcx I can't imagine a direct tokunbo car for #1m.
Except golf...
Corolla is better bcx of the fuel economy.

But you absolutely think a Golf will be a good option?

Good Morning Bosses,

I have a budget of N1m to buy a car.

Don’t know which I should buy: Corola, Camry, Accord or Civic?

Which would you recommend in terms of reliability, efficiency, fuel management and maintenance?

Note: I’m a first time owner.

Thank you.

Car TalkRe: Car Talk Chat Room by tolajay: 9:23pm On Mar 20, 2019
Good to know :-)

With 1M you should get a fairly good deal on the specified Camry range. You can check Jiji for some offers.

I’m contemplating increasing the budget to get a really good ride that would be durable to serve essential needs in years to come, so I won’t have to worry about changing my car in about five years except there’s a big windfall.

I’d be interested in your findings and final decision.

All the best bro.

You’re not alone on this... Just that my budget is 1M.. I am looking at Toyota Camry 2004-2006 Naija Used first body.

Good Day Car Experts,

I’m looking to get my first ride but a bit uncertain on which will be suitable for a young man looking to settle down soon.

Efficiency, reliability and low maintenance costs are non-negotiable in the choice of car.

My budget is between 600K and 800K.

Biko gurus, which car would you advise I go for?

Thanks
