Where did you get this info?

Please provide the link.

BlueBeard:
Good afternoon everyone, please how true is this information below, in regards to NHS and foreign trained nurses?

Hello Nurses,

Please find below update from most of the NHS employers:

Organisations recruiting healthcare professionals to the UK should still be following the UK Code of Practice for international recruitment during this unprecedented time.

What is NHS code of conduct? The NHS code of conduct was put together in 2004. It outline that Developing countries should not be targeted for recruitment.

This means you cannot advertise, promote or target nurses from developing countries or countries which accepts healthcare allowances from WHO.

India & Philippine are also included in the list but UK government signed special agreement with India & Philippine to recruit nurses.

We were allowed to accept applications if someone contact us directly either through email, phone or our website and we have been doing that over the years.

But in recent week we had an email from our NHS partners who told us not to recruit nurses from developing countries. This also applies for India or Philippine nurses working in developing countries too.

The Covid situation has brought abou drastic changes in the industry and as almost every country realised the importance of healthcare staff in recent days.

NHS employers at the moment don't want to recruit nurses from developing countries through third party.
The active recruitment of healthcare staff from developing countries is prohibited, while recruitment agencies should not be supplying any staff from the developing countries list.

NHS Employers may consider unsolicited applications direct from an individual in a developing country if that individual is making an application directly to the hospital and not using a third party.

Due to this development, we have decided not to accept applications until further notice. You may please look around for other options. The only option I can see ahead is get a job in a Care Home/Private hospital.

Wishing you all the very best. Thank you.
Business / Solar System Recommendation: Help A Nigerian by tolajay: 8:15pm On Aug 19, 2020
Electricity has not been stable for some time and I am not a lover of generator pollution.

Can you recommend a good solar system to get.

My core power needs; Laptop, Phone Charging, Fan during the day and light (5-6 points of energy saving bulbs) at night.

If you provide solar system service, you can drop your quotation.

It's got to be something efficient and durable.

Thanks

TotoNaRubber:
It is very possible, the economy is getting worse, the US is floooding international market with cheap oil and Nigeria revenue from oil is dwindling.

Anyway bad for some but more profit for some like me, at N550/$, i would have made N1.7m profit on $10k and multiples of more millions still cooling off.

This devaluation will hurt importation, local foods will become more desirable. Time to start buying locally.

There's nothing criminal about operating a parody account.

It's a standard thing across the world.

Why is the Nigerian police/politicians tormenting the boy?

Parody accounts are for socio-political satire, and are clearly marked as parody accounts.

Nigeria's backwardness is grossly disturbing.

How do you mean?

The case in view is, sending pounds to someone's Nigerian pounds dom account, as a means of payment or family settlement fee.

You think that's risky?

erico2k2:

why take that risk?
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by tolajay: 10:26pm On Jul 23, 2020
Great! Thanks

nomad26:
Yep, just do a wire transfer from your bank. I did this from my HSBC & Lloyds online banking accounts to GTB dom account several times. HSBC charged £4 flat rate while Lloyds was free because I had their international account. You need to provide your naija dom account details plus SWIFT/IBAN to your UK bank.

Would you please confirm if there's a structured way to deposit pounds directly from UK into a Nigerian pounds account?

Valid thought.

Which is why we need to mainstream the mental construct, values and outlook of the 30% minority.

We need a critical mass of value-oriented people to move the country forward.

It starts with individuals with these holding themselves to higher commitment to transfer same to people within their circle of influence, starting from the home.

emmanuelewumi:

I guess they generalised based on probability and their personal experiences. Our country is a reflection of the citizens.

I think we still have honest, responsible and contented Nigerians, these set of people should be in the minority. I am looking at about 30% of our population.

My opinion though

Absolutely! It's never going to be easy.

Systemic restructuring are beyond sheer optimism and hopefulness.

We (individual, corporate and governmental Nigeria) are not investing the required mental, attitudinal, character, financial... resources into making the country work, at this rate.

Nigeria would need to get to ground ZERO before we can fix it.

Donbrig:
Nigerians won't be easy to reset or change, particularly our weird mentality. Our vice president just said it will get more difficult to fight corruption and change lots of things in Nigeria. You guys are watching the massive corruption rocking NDDC, billions of naira that would have built schools, hospitals, roads, etc was stolen by few, but we just have to be hopeful and positive.

Travel / Re: Should I Get A Domiciliary Account Now? by tolajay: 7:44pm On Jul 16, 2020
Superficially, this is not the best time buy FX with Naira, except it is critically needed.

However, time is a critical factor in investment equations.

If you wouldn't need the funds in a long time, say 3-5 years, then this is a good time to buy dollar with your Naira.

WHY?

Insight from currency market analysis over the last 20 years shows the Naira will continue to fall against the Dollar, as long as Nigeria relies on oil. Sad to say, Dollar will gain more against the Naira in coming years.

Summary: If you can leave your funds for a long-term, then buy Dollar now. If you need the fund in about 6-12 months, then, invest in Mutual Funds or any variants of Fixed Income.

PS: With the figure you're throwing around online, you've got to be more security conscious online and offline. Best bet, find closed investors' thread here on Nairaland instead of opening a new thread with figures and details that can attract men of the under world to your portfolio.

Best!

My Tbills of 10m will mature in a few days'. In the absence of what to do with it, I am thinking of opening a dorm account and putting it there at least to cushion the effects of further naira devaluation/ depreciation.

What do you think?

Well, this isn't the first time, neither will it be the last, I'm calling out sweeping generalisations, immoral and illicit acts.

Your comment, perhaps justification, circles back to the "prevalent culture of individual irresponsibility," as highlighted by one of the commentators here.

Many of us (Nigerians) see what's wrong with others and how others are responsible for our community/country's woes, without first looking inwards.

Read through the comments again, and you'll notice expressions (Nigerians are this, Nigerians are not that...), a portrayal of lack of ownership/stake in the Nigerian project. It's a reflection of the mind. Many are disconnected from being a Nigerian. No identity, no connectivity, no patriotisms.

To restart and reset this country, we need a mental reorientation on what the country is, who we are and our individual cum collective roles in making it worthwhile.

Bro! Nigerians defend fraud on social media.

Go and tell those guys this, not this guy. He is the least of our problems. Foreigners will focus more on the amount of people defending the right to be fraudulent than someone who feels an average Nigerian is a thief.

Let's be careful of our narratives.

Narratives and ideologies are what determine perceptions and reactions, globally.

You've just established that you have a character defect and you're one of the folks contributing to the destruction of Nigeria.

However, you shouldn't generalise that this defect is applicable to all Nigerians... Speak for yourself and the people around you.

Sweeping generalisations are not apt in public conversations.

A foreigner would read your comment and will mentally conclude, without any personal experience, that all Nigerians are thieves and not to be trusted. Yet, you'll wonder why foreigners react so badly to you.

CsRockefeller:
The other day I was telling someone that corruption and fraud especially is ingrained in every Nigerian DNA. What few do is to fight that inbuilt trait, the remaining just live it out.

We are such a dishonest people. In an attempt to mask our evil acts we have legalized fraud and corruption into different forms.

A Nigerian doesn't even trust his fellow citizen so why should a foreigner do? Look at how high we build our fences like we are guarding against wild animals.

What's your rate?

amechi213:
A well written Sales Copy could be the difference between where your business is today and where it can be tomorrow.

Telling your target audience what you sell is not enough, getting them to buy is the most important thing.

Isn't it frustrating that the social media campaigns for your products or services get so many likes but not enough people call you to do business? Or you have a large mailing list but it seems no one is responding to them.

A well written Sales Copy will increase your chances of getting conversions (customers that pay). The way you tell potential clients about your goods and services will determine if they would buy from you or shun you!

Let me write a world-class Sales Copy for your business today. I understand Social Triggers that can push your potential customers to take positive action and I will use that to your advantage.

Kindly call or WhatsApp me - 08033422206 so we can discuss further.

Best Regards!
