Soul E is a one-time wonder, a testament that sheer talent will never get you anywhere.

Music/Radio / Re: Who Is The Queen Of Nigerian Rap? by toluwalomo(m): 12:10pm On Feb 04, 2009
Most of yall are getting  this post twisted.

It states who is the Queen of Nigerian rap and not who is the most talented or shows the most lyrical promise.

The crown goes without a doubt to Sasha.

Lyrically I feel she spits like Eve sometimes.

But in terms of striking a balance between being a rapper and a sensusal symbol, she's on point.

You would wanna be looking at her even when her delivery is at best above average.

Let's not kid ourselves, as a female rapper you can only go so far on your lyrical ability. Good rapper or not as long as long as you are a woman you need some feminine ingredients to balance your rapping.

The hip hop world will never judge your rap prowress based on ability alone. Jean Grae is one of the illest females out there. The props remain underground simply because she is not selling that female perspective of hip hop.

So if you female and u rap like Nas, Big Pun and Jadakiss combined, you will only get that was nice at best!

Look what happened to Da Brat with her tom boy image.

Blaise and Kel show more promise lyrically but do not have albums. And do not have personalities to go with their rap careers. They are too ordinary, trying to play it safe cuz they are on the come up or something.

Bouqui for me is the most confused of the lot. All her songs sound the same. No depth. And plus a fake ass nasal accent irritant to boot.

SASHA is the first lady no question!

Crime / Kidnappers Murder 11 Year Old Girl Cause She Tried To Protect Brother! by toluwalomo(m): 2:32pm On Jan 30, 2009
shot dead an 11-year-old Nigerian girl and abducted her 9-year-old brother as they walked to school in the southern oil city of Port Harcourt on Thursday, police said.
Their father worked for Anglo-Dutch energy giant Royal Dutch Shell <RDSa.L> in Port Harcourt, the hub of Africa's top oil and gas industry, a company spokesman said.

Violent crime has surged in the Niger Delta since militants, who claim to be fighting for a fairer share of the region's natural resources, launched a campaign of sabotage against the oil industry three years ago.

The attackers shot the girl as she tried to prevent them from dragging her brother into a car in the Rumuokwuta area of central Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers state.

"A red Honda car intercepted them on the way (to school). The gunmen came out of the vehicle and grabbed the boy," said Rita Inoma-Abbey, police spokeswoman for Rivers.

"While the sister was struggling with them, she was shot. The gunmen went away with the boy. Passers-by rushed the girl to hospital but she died on the road."

Men, You murderers are CURSED.

You will never know peace.

You wil never know rest.

The blood of the innocent you continue to shed with impunity has caught up with you.

DEATH is the beginning of your portion.

I will not waste an instrumental on replying his childish baseless words.I am too big and too busy to do that who is mode9?in his whole life in the industry

But you had time to vent your spleen in an interview. Hmmm,

Nothing wrong in Rugged putting Mode 9 in his place. You replied his diss on the pages of a magazine instead of a track. Not good enuff.

Beefing is old school, especially when you are beefing a rapper who is more successful than you in all ways.

Beef old school, NEVER. As long as rappers have indifferences there will always be beef. Beef on wax, never out on the street OOOOOOOOO,

Scared to beef someone who is more successful than you is NEVER a criteria. If you have an issue with someone you put it on wax irrespective.

Canibus went after big-boi Cool J with second round Knock-out Cool J replied with Jack the reaper.

So many cases where it was even the big rappers than went after the "little ones". e.g. 50 CENT after Jadakiss and Fat Joe. 2pac after Mobb Deep's Prodigy, Ice-Cube VS Mack 10,

As apt in this case, the leading lights of the hip hop generation went against each other Again 50 VS Nas and  Jay-z VS NAS

T.I. VS Luda

Beef is can never old school. Go to www.allhiphop.com the no 1 hip hop site in the world. You will see at least a top-notch beef every 24 hours!

So RUGGED kill that noise.

If your non-reply also included not granting this interview we will respect that. But you cannot refuse to put M9 in his place via a track. And then grant an interview with information that shud have been on a track.

Music/Radio / Re: Which Region In Nigeria Produces The Best Musicians? by toluwalomo(m): 10:49am On Jan 28, 2009
As per music for the NOW generation it is the NORTH without a doubt. Especially Jos! Those people know the real defintion of HIP HOP. I am talking majority before yall slaughter me.

In terms of massive representation ans as far as hip hop is concerned. Plateau State is the SHIT.

PH is also a very strong contender. And even offers better prospects in terms of musical versatility.

BAYELSA, DELTA AND EDO offer a more ground to earth and contemporary version of music for the grass roots.

Lagos na jus swagger. The music capital of Naija. Everybody zooms there to make a music fortune. Too much efizzi hardly any natural born talents.

Of course there are exceptions but on the whole far more talents outside Lagos than in Lagos.

Hurriedly replied my post. Dissected it without any sense ( guess your cafe time was running out) Making hare- brained points outta context.

quote

Let me address this nescient cat before u misinform the public with your hokum.
Who made Mode9 a foremosr rapper in Nigeria.
This is where you cats are getting it wrong. Maybe to u, Mode9 is the best.
He won't be in ma top five so stop making points that are not universal to everyone.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

I made the point that M9 and Rugged are the foremost rappers out there. Unlike you I'm pretty objective recognizing what Rugged did for Hip Hop as an art in 9ja. Your small brain can only interprete that as an open door for M9 to blow.

If you are hailing Rugged Man as Hip Hop's saviour,  we might as well thank Eedris and Eedris will thank Zakky and Zakky will thank Junior and Pretty, CashMan Davis and even Daddy SHOWKEY. Cuz one came before the other.

quote

anutha heap of applesauce. . . . . . . .

So u want to compare Southern rappers who sell internationally to Mode9 who is not even recognised in London??
Guy, pass the blunt u smoking to the vagrant on ur left hand side.
________________________________________________________________________________________

You made a comment from your earlier post. I won't waste time searching for it. You have already underlined your stupidity. You claim you live in a high brow area. And yall did not know Mode9 but Rugged. I was making comparisons with the South. Despite the sales of most of the rappers there. They only sell within their locales. I was comparing the scenario not the rappers. SHEESH!

Read, DIGEST and comment brav. It can't be that HARD.

quote

What wrong has he done?? "If he can up his game. . . . . . " What game??
A barking dog came out of nowhere to do a diss track. . . . . . .So if Rugged decides not to reply, it means he is past his prime??
By your inspid theory, Biggie was past his prime because he did not reply 2Pac in 1996??
Can u hear urself?? Let me stop here before i make u look stupid.
____________________________________________________________________________
Mode 9 a barking dog? Outta nowhere?

Hit em Up was not a diss track, it was a hate song, talking bout fucking your wife and killing your children is that a reasonable song to respond to. Your massive Hip hop mind could not come up with a more appropriate diss song?

You best shut up, before you make yourself look STUPID.

quote

Although, Nigerians can be so crass as anything new MUST be the best.

_____________________________________________________________________________

Said it before, you are ignorant when it comes to hip hop. What makes it worse is that you feel SO cool showing your stupidity. So M9 is a new cat, lol what a loser! Go pop your mumu pills.

quote

I won't be surprised if u come here to praise Rugged when he launches his new album

____________________________________________________________________________________

Yes. i WOULD cuz unlike you. I can keep an open mind.  And feels he still has stuff to offer if he digs deep. Your brain is already biased towards anything not Rugged. If Rugged gives us something good I will give him his props. It is called O-B-J-E-C-T-I-V-I-T-Y. Judging by the big words, you have been using online dictionaries to find. That is not a hard one is it?

quote

And when another takes over, it means MI has been shyte??
Rakim, Nas, BigL, Big Pun are now shyte cos Weezy, TI and co are now selling records??
Did u pass through the 4 walls of any school at all?

Has this guy not learnt anything at all. Since u laugh in SWAHILI. Understanding English does not seem to be a strong point.

Pulling something again out of context, rather than tracing what led to the statement.

What i know about hiphop is something u can never know even if brain surgeons split your cranium into 2 and implant HIPHOP in it.

DAMN RIGHT! What you know about Hip hop can never filter into my brain cells.

Asking why 50 cent did not reply Eedris' diss track. 50 cent and Eedris look like equal adversaries in your HIP HOP book. That is your Hip Hop State of mind. MENNNNNNNNNNNNN,  WHAT ARE YOU?? You should be SHOT!

Follow all your posts and see how you have been contradicting yourself like a red shirt on yellow trousers.

Obviously, you need a new brain.

Your senses are so warped!

Romance / Re: What Do You Think about online dating? by toluwalomo(m): 12:53pm On Jan 27, 2009
Nothing wrong with using the Internet as a platform for meeting someone new.

I suggest you use it for contact, you will still need to meet the person in the flesh before a relationship can be considered.

Met someone a few years back online, when we eventually hooked up it was bliss.

A cold day in hell, if we would have actually met. Cuz we are 2 DIFFERENT PEOPLE.

Leverage on the internet as a platform to meet more people. But you still need to hook up to concretize your "virtual chemistry".

@ Sauron

You don't want Rugged to reply Mode 9 (NOT WORTH THE STRESS) and you are making a claim on that on the basis that 50 did not reply Eedris!

Men are you for real?

TWO of 9ja's most foremost rappers vying head to head and you are saying he should bone.

WTF!!!!!

All those southern rappers Lil Prick and Lil Stiff only sell within their locales dominated by blacks and therefore easily hit platinum.

How many of them sell across coasts, talk less of going international? Very few!

So guy, just cuz people in your area ( Rugged makes music for shoemakers and mechanics?) don't know M9, don't mean he's not known.

You are talking R-E-S-P-E-C-T .AT a Ruggedman show where he was throwing his VCDS in the crowd (Germany). They were thrown back at him. This was during his prime Baraje days.

I for one respect what Rugged did for the game. But Hip Hop is not politics. Where the founding fathers are giving a spot whether they are improving or killing the game. There is no room for complacency. And we have stepped up. If he can up his game, the better for hip hop.

But he cannot be laying claim to the throne with his decade old rap style.

Hip Hop is us. Hip Hop is universal.

When Zakki Adzee and Eedris were touting themselves as 9ja's no 1 hip hop heads to the whole world we were a laughing stock. They judged us by those two.

Rugged is not in their category. But his hunger is no more there and this shows in his music.

Rappers like Public Enemy, NWA, Young MC, Lyte, Latifah did so much for HIP HOP. They knew when to pull the plugon their active rap careers and are now confined to legendary status.

So stop leaving in a time machine. And trying to force feed us with some butter-rap that most Nigerians have outgrown.

Rugged should shape up or ship out.

Let thunda cats like M9 and MI who know wassup keep the torch burning. We can only improve from there. There will come a time where even the M.I. we all yapping about will cease to be the shit. Another will take over.

Judging by your posts you have shown your ignorance about Hip hop. But I did not know you were that ignorant.

Music/Radio / Re: M.I Best Nigerian Rapper For Now: (true/false) by toluwalomo(m): 12:02pm On Jan 23, 2009
@Dclique

You are really showing some ignorance as far as Hip Hop is concerned.

Dissing is part of the game. Only half baked cats diss for fame and that's why they remain half-baked.

Rugged dissing for fame? He felt hip hop needed a face lift and went for the biggest name in Akara Hip hop-Eedris.

He took on Eedris and the might of Kennis Music. He even told his label Little Fish to kiss his ass rather than tone down his lyrics!

Do you know how many carrots were dangled before him, d guy no chop.

A bulk of so called rap cats came into Hip Hop post-Pac and Biggie's deaths. By that time corporate America had fully taken over Hip hop and raped her.

And the end product is people trying to make a living outta dissing". Only Rugged used the formula and it worked and that was cuz he wanted to change the face of Hip hop in Nigeria. And stop all chicken gibberish Kennis music and Eedris were ramming down our throats.

Most 9JA RAPPERS who diss now do it for fame. Using right tools for the wrong reasons.

Let's ponder for a moment Hip hoppers, which US rapper took the crown after just one album?

Anyone?

I thought so too.

TV/Movies / Re: Adaure Achumba And Her Accent by toluwalomo(m): 2:18pm On Jan 21, 2009
Take a survey amongst the BBC correspondents, not too many Nigerians.

Why?

Most Nigerians cannot tell the difference between fluency and having a fake-ass accent.

When it comes to speaking fluently and preserving their African accent I have always loved South Africans.

Back to Ms Achumba in the early days of Today on STV, Ireti put her on the spot asking about her accent. And she said she adopted the accent "to belong" on TV o!!!!!!

So now that she's back in 9ja, shouldn't she lose it?

Accents are unconsiously andrandomly picked up during formative years. People like Mikle, Babayaro have special tutors.

For someone who goes thru 2 arms of education coming back after 4 years with an accent. Oh plzzzzzzzzzzzzz,

Brick and Lace should have picked up Waffi accents since they have been here countless times.

Abi na?
