Prison is a business in the US. Many of them are privately owned. And some of the owners of these prison connive with judges to sentence more people to jail. More prisoners in those prisons mean that those prisons get more funds from the government. And then with the extra money, those prison owners will sponsor the election of their favorite judges who will in turn increase prison sentences for people so those prisons get more prisoners and the owners of the prisons get more money from the government and with the extra money they will sponsor the reelection of their favorite judges who will in turn. . . . . . .. . . etc etc etc

That is a correct observation of events in America's judicial system. A good white lawyer, a white skin, white jurors will mean that there must be 100% clear and incontrovertible evidence of guilt before a guilty verdict is reached. This is even more so if the victim is black. If the victim is white, the guilty verdict will be more likely.
White people don't like seeing white people being oppressed. Not even by a fellow white person and absolutely not by a minority. If Zimmerman's victim were a blue eyed blonde teenage girl, I bet you, they'll remember that Zimmerman is not really white

Majority of black inmates are people who deserve to be in jail, BUT, if they were white, half of them would NOT be in those jails. They'll get away with crime.
Also, many blacks in jail were not supposed to be there at all. Victims of injustice. It's complicated. Imagine weed. How many blacks have been locked up for weed? Or the raw version of cocaine? That is a good question. But the answer is complicated. For me, one good starting point is to revisit the badly damaged family life in the african American community. All these single motherhood, teenage pregnancies etc lead to young men and women with no role models in their lives and by the time they are 20 they've been in and out of jail with criminal records which will ensure that they will never advance in life.

Family values and Education is the starting point.
At the risk of sounding disrespectful, let me say that I am yet to see any african American family in south-west Ohio with both parents still married and kids all living happily together for about 10 or more years. Now, the whiteys are no better but like I said earlier, the whiteys can get away with a lot of BS and the AAs will get stuck. So AA have to work extra hard to get a better position in the food chain.

I'm ready to go to extremes to avoid going to jail. Bc I know my gender/skin color/age/accent combo is a sure ticket to American jails, I avoid the police with extreme measures that I won't even recommend for the weak hearted
Eg, after a close friend got arrested bc a white girl accused him of r.ape ( he was released later but by then he had spent thousands of dollars in legal services) another friend suspended at work bc his patient accused him of sleeping with her ( he was later recalled after investigations showed no truth in the allegation, but he resigned and is now working for another hospital) I have decided to avoid white girls at all cost. I will now keep away from unnecessary night life
I stay indoors after work.
I avoid rowdy crowd.

The Zimmerman acquittal didnt come as a surprise to me, infact I didn't follow the case at all, never watched it on tv, bc I knew the outcome even before the case started. I just remembered my experience with middle class/middle aged white women in Britain. These are the people you sit beside them in the library and they just cling to their purse/handbag as if in about to snatch it away from them. . For the first time, wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, gave an indication that she might be behind the crisis rocking Rivers State at the moment as she opened up on a plethora of grudges she is nursing against the state governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi.

Mrs. Jonathan spoke in Abuja on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa by 16 bishops from the South-South geo-political zone.

She said that the crisis in the state started four years ago and urged that there was need for prayers for the state.

She said, “Rivers state issue is one thing I’ve committed to prayer because I believe there is nothing God cannot do. God restored me and I’ll do his work without the fear of man.

“The truth will always remain the truth and what God ordains must come to pass and so Rivers issue is something we’ve handed over to God.’’

Nevertheless, she said she had always mediated between the governor and other parties in a crisis that she said began four years ago.

According to her, “This matter started as far back as four years ago at Anyugubiri in Okrika when I begged him not to demolish a part of Okrika but (that he should) dialogue first with the people.

“After that incident, he called the chairman of Okrika (local government) and sacked him for holding a reception in our honour; that boy was the first victim.

“He also put my people on curfew for nine months. I called him and pleaded with him but he refused. Then I began to hear all sort of propaganda in the media against me; this is not the way.

“I’ve never spoken about this issue but as men of God, I believe you’ll say the truth always because there are a lot of conflicting interests; some will hear one thing and say the exact opposite.

“I also want you to know the genesis of this problem and pray that God touches Amaechi’s heart as per his hot temper because when two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers.

“I appeal to Amaechi to sheathe his sword so that we can defend our state and this country with love, unity, patriotism and truth at all time.

“Hebrews 12:14 urges us to embrace peace with all men without which; we cannot see God.

“Amaechi is my son; I cannot fight him, and I cannot kill him. He shouldn’t be used by outsiders against his own blood because this seat is vanity.

“One day, no matter how long it takes; we will leave this seat. Power is not forever. This seat is vanity; others sat here and left so one-day I’ll also leave, and we will meet at home; so why should I fight him?

“Let’s calm down, face issues, leave non-existent matters, stop magnifying lies and respect our leaders and people in authority. Let’s give peace a chance.”

Before she spoke, the leader of the delegation, Bishop God-Do-Well Awomapara, Chairman, Niger Delta Bishops Forum, said “We are on a quest to unravel the mysteries surrounding the Rivers issue and mediate where necessary.’’
