I gave an example of how your fellow Christian folks disturb us in buses, parks, schools and some even go to the length of carrying mega phone to disturb our peace, at a time when we should be sleeping and resting in preparation for work, all in the name of evangelism. And you're here telling me not to express my opinion just because it doesn't suit well with your beliefs. Abeg shift.

No one is stopping you from discussing whatever you believe in as you claim you are not an atheist. So open your own post and do whatever you want there rather than clicking a Christian post and then complaining about being disturbed.

THE SITUATION IN NIGERIA.

The lecturer who insists on sex for a young girl to pass is complaining about the rot in Nigeria.

The pastor who pays his driver 20k in Lagos or PH while his own son schools in the US is complaining about the hopelessness in Nigeria.

The trader who removes 2 bowls of rice from the bag, rebags and sells as a 'full' bag is complaining about the wickedness in Nigeria.

The civil servant who comes to work once a week and shows up end of month to receive alert is complaining about politicians who do nothing.

The student who spends the weekend partying only to start posting Instagram pictures on Monday is complaining that Nigeria is stealing his/her dreams.

The motor owner who can't join a simple queue but keeps darting in and out of traffic to shunt is complaining about disorderliness in Nigeria.

Doctors in public and teaching hospitals on government payroll who abandon patients on the floor but are thriving in their private hospitals are complaining that Nigeria is hopeless.

Until we realize that the value of Nigeria today is the average of our own individual values, we will keep fooling ourselves.

We are all architect of our economic development woes. Stop the blame game. Our attitudes and unpatriotic behaviour should stop. This is the period of change for Good....

I'm not saying we shouldn't sacrifice to lay the foundation for growth. But if you must do what you detest, do the one that comes with a satisfactory reward.

It's better to find one sweet spot and cook indomie and egg every morning and evening and have all afternoon for other hustle, than get saddled by one energy-draining, hope sapping, very high work hour, low paying job that pays you 50k with no time left for other things.

We must all work. But not inform of the modern-day slavery called a job.

That was exactly my point. I know people who earn big figures though they don't enjoy the work, but they endure it because they have an exit plan and know the income from it will help fund future investments and business ideas.

We're very much alike in this aspect. I have grown to hate jobs and the bondage that comes with it.

But sometimes you have to sacrifice your natural preference / likes & dislikes and do the job in order to build a base that will set you up for the future. If we all did what we liked, many won't be where they are today. Life is give and take.

Definition of fixed asset:-assets which are purchased for long-term use and are not likely to be converted quickly into cash, such as land, buildings, and equipment.

That said any fixed asset that is not generating income to match its depreciation through wear and tear or its been obsolete is a liability.

Please we shouldn't allow class room accounting to confuse us. Even land that is said to appreciate in theory can be a liability in retrospect esp if one cannot easily convert the land to cash in time of urgent need.

Also there is a huge difference between been asset rich and cash rich.

Even from a asset perspective only-there are still wide gaps. E.g

Mr A who is worth 100m and lives in a owner occupied house of 25m with the rest of his networth in cash generating investments is way richer than Mr B who is worth 150m but lives in a 120m owner occupied residence with the rest of his networth in the saame class of investments.

The only way Mr B will termed to be richer than Mr A is if he can convert the residence to cash or a cash generating asset. Overall cash is king!


Otherwise we can all just walk into a bank and simply exchange our title documents for cash irrespective of where the property or fixed asset is located.

I think people need to look at his investment options from an economic profit point of view-comparing all the options against the opportunity cost of other investments

Finally, as i said in my earlier post 11m is and is not small money, depending on how we look at it.
And rushing to build a house or buy land will not be a top of mind investment option for me if i was in the poster's predicament.

Good point. Considering inflation in Nigeria is currently >10%, it is fair to say that most investments are actually making negative returns.

Go and make YOUR own money and stop calculating how someone else should spend theirs on you. These are the mindsets that promote transactional relationships.

Dudeee! How can a fixed asset be a liability? It doesn't have to generate cash flows presently for it to be an asset. PPE's can only lose value via self revaluation. A house can never be a liability here, there or anywhere.

That's not completely true. Ask those whose properties went into negative equity during the 2009 crisis. Property is not magic. You must buy at the right location and price for it to be an asset.

Interest rates unfortunately have crashed, last time I heard it was below 3%per annum. You can check with your bank.

A better alternative for now would be savings accounts, GT for example is about 4% pa.
4% on 1m = 40k per annum, divided by 12 is ~3k every month.
