Liliantalks: that’s why I try to encourage people to be more welcoming to others, it’s very important, don’t always wait for people to cm around , they might not be 100% trust worthy but atleast u hv someone to call a friend . Anyone who has no friend and says I am happy without friends is actually lying ... ur self esteem will be bellow 0. I'm not sure this is a good idea. Why have someone who isn't trustworthy just for the sake of having a friend? Would probably cause more hassles than it's worth. My policy: A good friend is better than no friend. However, no friend is better than a bad friend. Nice thread... |

My colleagues are leveraging on this to siphon organization's funds to their various pockets. I'm not oblivious of this fact because I'm so sensitive to things around me,but I am d God fearing type that won't participate in such a dirty act. I've called majority of those in this illicit act privately to warn them and let them know the implications. The problem now is that,if this act persist, the company may go bankrupt sooner than later. Even though, the job is not worth dying for, half bread they said it's better than none. Oselu28: so are you saying those that watched the movie and didn't repent are in a bigger temptation? Meanwhile This argument would be needless if my assumption is correct that you are a Pentecostal Nope, that is not what I am saying. You said he repented because he is a good person and I am saying it has nothing to do with being good, it was simply a conviction of his conscience which is something only the Holy Spirit can do. |
Christianity Etc › Re: The Train: Movie On Mike Bamiloye's True Story by tot(f): 9:30am On May 21, 2020 |
Oselu28: Do you become a bad person because you fell into temptation? If it was just a fall into temptation he would have come out of it prior to watching the movie. Typically, people fall into temptation, see they are enjoying it and stay there. The only reason that man pulled himself out was because he was convicted, nothing else. That's my view anyway. |

CelestineNelson: i just want to say something here...please am sory if it sounds foolish...am a Computer Scientist...a 400l Level student of University of Ilorin, i have knowledge of Computers hardware also...i want to tell you they are computers that cost N1,000,000 per 1, and this is a laptop....have used one in my boss office when i was learning computer programming(web developing) ..an apple desktop = 1,000,000....you can check online...Note am not in anyway trying to support this government ...but just telling you what i know about laptops and desktops as computer programmer...you can check for a laptop called the predator...Acer laptop...... Obviously, high spec laptops cost a lot. Acer Helios Predator costs over 2 grand because it is a GAMING laptop. The same Acer has Aspire brand which is a fraction of that price and wouldn't be up to 150k, so my question to you is what would Customs be doing with a high spec laptop, are they gaming??! Is laptop Nigeria's priority right now? |

Fortunatesoul: I've been wanting to learn a skill and after all my findings I settled for computer programming, so I opt for Python first,I had no one to teach me so I head forward to YouTube to learn it,so I downloaded some videos over 6 hrs plus,it was all fun from the start but as soon as I got towards the quarter of the video, everything turns against me,it appears as if programming is only meant for few people or am just not doing it the right way,or maybe the video on YouTube is just not the right way to start!!
Any advice for me pls There are LOADS of tutorials on Python, but a good number of them are not explanatory. The way I see any programming language is like a toolbox - each tool (concepts e.g. list, arrays, functions) is for a specific purpose. The more tools you learn how to use, the more versatile you become. You also need to learn how to use the basic tools before you can progress to more advanced ones. Also, very important, practice with exercises as you are learning - in fact that is the only way to learn IMHO. That is also how to assess your development as you go along till you get to a point you can take on projects. https://www.w3resource.com/python-exercises/https://www.onlinegdb.com/online_python_interpreter |

Smh. The misplaced priorities of this government is mind boggling. From school feeding programme to computers for Customs.
“The sum of the contract was N623,700,000 for the 1, 200 desktops and computers for the use of the Customs Service all over the country,” Mohammed told reporters.
N623,700,000 / 1, 200 desktops and computers = N519, 750 per computer. What exactly are they "computing"? Broad daylight robbery and corruption. Their yeye defenders will soon land on this thread now to defend the indefensible. |

2kurupt: This is basically a societal/cultural problem in Nigeria. Our belief system does not encourage dignity of labour but rather places value on getting rich quick, it has always been so long before Yahoo Yahoo & money rituals became profound crimes.
I know someone that had his B.Sc and masters degree in the UK and worked as a security guard at some point as a side hustle, yet he nor the people around him didn't see it as a big deal. One of Obama's daughters served as a fast food restaurant attendant during his time as the president of America to keep her busy while on holiday etc etc. Menial jobs may not pay fantastically but they're important services nonetheless.
These show that we really need to change our orientation and value system here.
OP just persevere, you'll get a more desirable work soonest You've said it all. Our foundation as a society is very faulty. |

[s] adontcare: Read this comment from a nairalander. And meditate on it. 1.I think a lot African parents ( mothers in particular), tend to treat their sons as mini-kings who can do no wrong in their eyes. This is where the culture of Male entitlement starts from; the upbringing. The boys grow up with a sense of superiority that somehow absolves them of certain responsibilities.
2. Staying in toxic relationships for the children. In many cases, the children end-up worse off psychologically ,than kids coming out of two healthy parents living separately.
3. The "if Kevin can do it ,you can do it too ".mentality. you have a lot of parents who see the neighbour's kid doing well selling bread ,& they start pushing their own children towards that trade or career without assisting them in what they are really good at so that they too can be a shining example in their own right. You see the results of this in many African markets ,everyone sells the samethings ,hardly will you find people who produce the products or selling something that is not readily available. [/s] |

NiCurious: Legally, it is only available by prescription. However, it's easily obtained illegally as a street drug. Part of the problem is that the street version has variable potency, as the buyer never knows if it's been cut with other substances, or is relatively pure, so it is easy to overdose. There has been a fentanyl overdose issue in Canada for a couple of years, now.
Fentanyl is a painkiller, and is also used as a sedative for medical procedures. In hospital, I was administered a minuscule quantity, which made me unconscious. When I woke, all I knew was that I had had the most restful nap ever. I would gladly have gone under again. And I'm not a druggie. That's when I realized how addictive this drug must be.
People on this thread forming self-righteous about bad parenting being the cause of addiction, have no idea what they're talking about, and for the sake of them and their families, may they never have firsthand knowledge. Thanks for the explanation. |
