Family / Childhood Pranks And Adventure: Your Story. by Totfulguy: 1:14am On Sep 22, 2013
Well I just think it will be fun to recollect what your childhood pranks, daring moves and adventures were. I am sure a lot of us will have some very interesting stuff to put across. Let me start this way, I remember growing up, I had grown cousins who lived with us. My cousin was a chronic pot-picker (like she used to pick meat from the port of soup/stew). I was five years old and the last of six children. My elder ones would go to school and that left me and my cousin at home together. On several occasions my cousin would go to the kitchen and pick meat from the pot, I knew the trend at a point so I often was on her trail and I would often appear unexpected behind her and give her fixed I-will-tell-if-you-don't-give me stare. She often, gave me a piece of meat from the pot as bribe which I usually gladly accepted and made me promise not to snitch on her. Normally, the first thing I would do when my parents or elder sister came back was tell them my cousin picked the pot of soup. She often got the beating of her life (which I used to giggle and chuckle about with my sister) but she never stopped-call it kleptomania.

I also recall being fascinated with the small sized camphor which I used to sniff out of curiosity. On this particular day, I stretched the limits of the adventure/curiosity to trying to see if the camphor would fit into my nostril. I pushed on into the left nostril and kept pushing and blowing it out. It did come out until I pushed it into the deep end and it stuck inside my nostril. Well you can imagine the pandemonium this caused. The whole neighbourhood became agog as news of my camphor adventure which was leaked by my immediate elder sister became viral. Anyway, my dad put me on his bike and took me straight to a clinic. I had a phobia for injections as a child so I did everything humanly possible on my way to the hospital to remove the camphor that was stuck in my nostril. I kept trying as we rode the over 12 miles to the hospital. The camphor stayed in there until my Dad rode into the hospital premises and I made a last ditch effort to remove the camphor from my nostril and it came out to my relief. I quickly told my Dad that the camphor had come out and showed it to him as evidence. I thought that was going to be the end of it all and we would go home-I was wrong. My Dad worked me straight to the nurse on duty and explained what happened. The "heartless" nurse pulled her syringe and needle and gave me the "horror" I thought would not happen. She injected me with God-knows what and you can guess what happened next. I will hold my breath here and look forward to what your adventure was. I hope this makes a hilarious and informative thread. grin
Religion / Re: Will The Mentally Disadvantaged People Be Judged After Death? by Totfulguy: 9:36pm On Sep 12, 2013
This thread addresses a very important question that the scripture answers in clear terms. The scriptures give a simple basis for believing that those who are mentally unstable and who happen to die DONT NOT COME UNDER ANY FORM OF JUDGEMENT AFTER DEATH. The Bible at Ecclesiastes 9:10 says 'Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest" (King James Version), "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom." (New int'l Version). In addition the scripture still at Ecclesiastes 9:4-5 says this "For whoever is joined with all the living, there is hope; surely a live dog is better than a dead lion. For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten" (American Standard Bible) "Anyone who is among the living has hope —even a live dog is better off than a dead lion! For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten".

Please don't be quick to dismiss this as "Old Testement Theology" As even the "New Testament" States at Roman 15:4" For whatsoever things were written aforetime, were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope"(King James Version) Again it says At 2 Timothy 3: 16,17 [b]"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works". It is therefore unavoidable that we take into serious consideration what the scripture says on the condition of those who have died, whether they died with full bodily function (who has full "bodily functions" anyway?) Or had a form of disability.

Further incontrovertible corroboration of the scriptures can be found at Roman 6:7 [b]"For he that is dead is freed (acquitted) from sin". This Bible verse carries the same meaning whether it is read as single verse or in the context of its surrounding verse. This makes sense because as God had told our first parents Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden at Genesis 2:16,17 [b]"And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat, But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die". Romans 6:23 says [b]"The wages sin pays is death".The consequence of sinning against God was DEATH which IS the opposite of LIFE. Gods punishment would have been ineffectual and inconsequential if death or dying were a mere transition to another life form (actually, higher form of life).

Thus when Adam sinned they died as God had proposed (Remember...God NEVER LIES) thus paying the price for disobedience. And having paid this price had to be acquitted of this sin as the scripture has said. It is therefore logical and reasonable to conclude that all those who have died face no further judgement on the basis of the sin the committed before they died, as they have been acquitted and are unconscious in the grave as Ecclesiastes 9:4,5,10 say. Roman 5:12 nicely summarises the predicament that we all face as human "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned". From the forgoing, we can conclude that those who have died are non-existent, unconscious, unfeeling etc. Their future remain in God's hand who has a plan for all of these ones.

Car Talk / Re: Driving In Heavy Traffic! by Totfulguy: 2:02pm On May 16, 2013
lonelydora: True, u exit almost the same time, except there's a broken down vehicle on your lane. But, in a disorganised city like PH, it may not always be true.
@Dora: I agree. I think the same scenario plays out in Lagos in the event of a serious break down. In which case the exit will be narrow and vehicles file out in singles or a little more than one. This give sufficient space for vehicles to speed of after the exit. But if it is just a single vehicle...we almost always exit at the same range.
Car Talk / Driving In Heavy Traffic! by Totfulguy: 9:23am On May 15, 2013
I have often wondered if it made any difference switching lanes while driving in heavy traffic. My observation is that you are most likely to exit traffic at the same time with the same range of vehicles that you entered traffic with. What has been your observation?

Not surprised at all. Joshua and Moses even held fellowship and night vigils before embarking on genocide.

All followers of Yahweh. The bloodthirsty god.
This is the most irreverent thing I have heard from a clueless, sorry and ignorant bigot. You have to retract this statement or you will be sorry for blasphemy against the Giver of the breath you are using to defame Him. Those who know this Alfaman can quote me...He will not be on Nairaland in the next 24 month for this blasphemy...for obvious reasons.

Politics / Motion For A Year Of Silence. by Totfulguy: 5:21pm On Mar 19, 2013
I have recently meditated deeper and pondered on the state of the Nigerian nation. My appraisal is in retrospect and I can with all modesty assume that if my submission on the way forward is not taken into serious consideration, this nation will continue its gradual and steady decline into decay and oblivion. And will be fit for nothing but re-colonization and occupation by a new "colonial master" (the previous one saw us where we are). Our over twelve years of Democratic ramble has resulted in nothing but motion without movement. Our nation has witnessed consistent decay instead of progress. Nigeria as a nation can rightly be said to be home to some of the best brains the world has ever produced. But our intellectuals have more or less been locked up and shut away in hopeless Island of misrule by a crop of scumbags who are not fit to shine our shoes but nonetheless rule us all.

The years of democratic mis-experiment has resulted in the worst deal for the average Nigerian and all Nigerian. Our need for re-colonization becomes all the more pertinent as illustrated in the fact that the further we are away from the years of colonization, the worse we are getting as a nation. This decline has not seen any intervention by any of the dispensations that have taken the reins of power. Our national assemblies have more less become a sleeping chamber for unintelligent and "dishonourable" members, and a mint for self-serving committee heads who smile to bank after a few chat and compromises over lunch with guilty criminals that are "under investigation", whose inheritance and abode should be the prison.

Nigerian has become a nation of talkers who engage in prolonged and unproductive debates over issues that require work and not talk. The national assembly exemplifies this assertion. It is clear that all we reap from the many sessions of the senate and national assembly is talk and nothing more. This unfortunately is the case in all levels of government across the political spectrum. In my assessment, these session are baseless and nothing tangible has so far come out of the talk sessions. And that is the crux of this piece...talking has not helped steer us out of the stormy and rough waters we have found ourselves. All the talking we have done has simply gone to waste as they have resulted in no positive traction for the situation this nation finds itself. I stand to be corrected...but I dare ask, what issue(s) that have been the subject of discussions and sessions in the lawmaking organs of this country proven to impact positively on the lives of Nigerians as a result of its being passed into law? PIB...PHCN...INEC...NRC...NFF? The various session of the many lawmaking organs of this country have only served the purpose of wasting the time of the Nigerian people and paying fat "sitting allowances"-(because all they do is "sit" ) to lawmakers.

It is to this end that I wish to move the motion, that since our democratic experiment has witnessed over twelve years of fruitless talking and the total waste of tax-payers money and the plunder of our commonwealth in the form of payment of fat allowances to law-makers, it is now time for Nigeria to go into a reflective mood and think introspectively and find workable answers to its multiple anomalies. Since solitude and silence provides a conducive environment for deep thinking and reflection, I hereby move the motion for a year of silence in the Nigerian nation. During this period all Local/State/National lawmaking house will be shut down. All lawmakers will join the masses in monitoring and ensuring that ALL the deliberations and sittings and their submissions of the past are carried out to the letter. For this period no bills will be passed into law (The ones they have made will be enough to go round...) This motion is both a cost and energy saving strategy that will benefit the nation in the long run as the result of the one year of meditation and quiet will result in positive revelations that will help move the nation forward.

My guess is that the nation with be better for it and we would have found renewed energy and creativity after the year of quiet to move our nation forward. For now we are a nation of talkers and not doers.

@Georgee. No sentiments here. Change strategy. I know you have been paid some sort of severance benefit, pls use that to start a new life. Let everyone show some understanding of the situation. Keeping it away from them will only worsen the situation when they ultimately find out. Get real!!! Tell everybody that should know! Hold yourself together as NOBODY will do it for you. You can reduce your budget for ur introduction/wedding and make it simple (marriage is a blessing) DONT EXPECT PITY! If you sit back and think people will rally to your aid, you may as well get ready for a rude awakening. Pray to the Almighty God Jehovah. He answers prayers.
