Health / Help Save Baby Emmanuel Okpue. by Totfulguy: 5:18pm On Jun 20, 2016
This is baby Emmanuel Okpue born April 26th, 2016. I came in contact with the baby Emmanuel at Lagoon Hospital Awolowo way Ikeja, Lagos while taking my own daughter for a check. Baby Emmanuel was diagnosed with Severe Bronchopneumonia according to the Doctors at the hospital. The situation requires urgent interventions to drain effusion and to place the baby under pediatric intensive care. Baby Emmanuel is currently under oxygenation and requires this to keep breathing and to stay alive. The hospital has done it's best but the situation requires the above mentioned intervention which needs an immediate deposit of 1.5 million Naira. His father, Mr Uche Okpue who is a driver, can hardly go by. I am moved by the plight of an innocent baby whose life is on the line to reach out on this forum. If you are moved to assist please do so using the following bank account detail which belongs to the father of the child, Mr Uchechi Okpue. Bank: Stanbic IBTC . Account number: 0011733633. You can call Mr Uche Okpue on 08059090255 or 08034372297. It's the least we could do for a dying child.

Holywizard:
I ve notin to leave de house wit

Ok...am not one who likes to come down hard on anyone. So am sorry to have sounded the way I did. But reading your post, I could sense the rage under your breath and I thought, in your interest, you should leave the house. But you do sound sober, so I will give you my honest opinion.

I presume you are relatively young, thus your rather selfish and childish (no insults meant) assessment of your situation. I know as you grow older (compulsory) and grow up (optional) you will find out that there are things in life that were not entitled to, which we have and for which we should be eternally grateful. Here are a few things you have for which you should be grateful one of them is your caring parent. But to help you re-orientate your mind, take the following into consideration.

1. Caring Parents: By your admission, your parents have cared for you the best way they can. And they deserve your gratitude. Life is like a relay race. Parents run and hand the baton over to their children. The baton must be handed over whether we like it or not. Many parents do not consider it a necessity to prepare their children for the responsibility of "handling the baton" (eg, Showing them love, teaching them life values, give them an education or a vocation, stand by them when they need help and be there until they become adults (18 years old). But you have this. You see at some point, our parents, especially those who have 3, 4, 5 children, believe that they have done their bid for you and it is your turn to hold the baton. I can assure you, that if you have shown the expected sense of duty and responsibility, eg showing that you can handle issues responsibly and hold your own (and this does not require money) your parents will give you added privileges. But if all they hear is a whining son/daughter who appears to "drop the baton" when you should actually run with it, then you will not blame them for the treatment you are getting. "You dress to be addressed" they say. So instead of seeming to whine and beef, can you look at ways that you can be useful to your parents and take some responsibilities off them to lighten their load? Can you teach your younger brother or sister and assist with home chores. Or are you always on your phone doing so much but actually doing nothing? Your parent want to see you take more responsibilities off them and not be a burden. They have tried.

2. Understand that they don owe you: You see you need to be honest with yourself and realize that your parents have played their part and really do not owe you the things you now ask (as if of right) of them. They have done their bid. Ask yourself, if you did not have parents (like many who do not) what would you have done with yourself? I often ask young people who claim that they are lagging behind BECAUSE of their parent's failure to step forward and assist, If your parents are responsible for your backwardness, who will be responsible for those of your children? This thought gave me the drive to mentally detach myself from my parents strings and understand that I am all alone with God. This mentality helped me to look for my own things no matter how little as long it is genuine and has my name on it. So leave your rage behind and start looking for little genuine things to do and get busy. If you start leaving your house to "little things", you will see less of your mum and much less of what she is doing for your little one. You will probably come back too tired to notice what they are doing. I can tell you from my experience, that the moment you start going out of the house to do a small job, their attitude towards you may change. As a person, before I started my own business, I have sold shoes OK shoes, artworks, ran errands for people etc. And I kept busy with those things until I got a job.

3. Be sincerely grateful to your parent: You will notice that for as long as you are harboring resentments towards your parents, you will only stifle the creative functions of your brain and end up living in that closed enclave called "self" where nothing else exists but you. You need to think beyond yourself and think of what you can do for your parent. Ask yourself, if the responsibility of caring for your parents fell on your shoulders RIGHT NOW, would you be able and willing to stand up to it? Or will you see an opportunity to seek revenge? Times are tough, I know. But you can start small, start somewhere, start somehow. I hope this help.

I am so sorry to say this but it is actually the truth.
Ever since I graduated last year my mum has made my life a living hell.
I ve tried severally to get used to her bad attitude but all to no avail.
She complains on every thing I do. In fact once she wakes up from sleep she must look for something to complain with.

Since I graduated, I automatically stopped receiving cash from them & they (she & my dad) doesn't even care whether I have money to recharge my phone. Since last year they haven't given me ordinary #1000 & once I complain they will say 'no money' but my mum especially keeps buying unnecessary things. No money but she'll buy new shoes, clothes, bags, cell phone etc which she won't even put on.

Last week, our last born of de family came back from school & she took him out for shopping & she spent not less than #50,000 on him. Everything she does now is on the boy. My mum can even wash the plates on behalf of him. Everything he does is right. She protects the boy like an egg.

When an old friend wanted me to come over to PH so that I'd be managing his business before I go for service, my mum refused, saying that the days are bad via money ritualism. All my elder siblings called me to talk sense into me that I should just stay back, I missed that big opportunity because I'd ve been having like hundreds of thousands in my bank account.

My parents doesn't care about my welfare. Right now I don't have up to #1000 in cash & in bank. I think they hate me & I
I hate my mum the most!!! I just feel like leaving the house for them.

Please leave the house. Judging by your name "holywizard" you are confused (A wizard cannot be holy). People who have put in their best for you deserve gratitude not hate. You need to leave the house before you make front page again for the wrong reason.

Adesiji77:
BY Victor Ahiuma-Young, reporting from Geneva, Switzerland GENEVA – ORGANISED Labour, Thursday, vowed to cripple operations in the banking sector over ongoing mass retrenchment of workers, throwing its weight behind the threat by the Federal Government through the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, to withdraw the licenses of banks that breached its directive to halt further retrenchment. This came as Labour issued a 21 day ultimatum to the affected banks to recall the sacked workers or risked unprecedented industrial action.

At a joint briefing in Geneva, leaders of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, insisted that they would picket banks that indulge in further mass sack of their employees, saying that the Federal Government was right to have threatened erring banks with withdrawal of their licenses if they refused to halt the gale of mass retrenchment of workers.

Speaking at a a briefing at the venue of the on-going 105th International Labour Conference, ILC, in Geneva, Switzerland, both Labour centres contended that just like the banks disobeyed the laws of the country and retrenched workers “we will picket them to show them that they do not have monopoly of law of disobedience.”

Both Ayuba Wabba and the TUC President, Bobboi Kaigama, who frowned at the refusal of the banks to allow their workers to unionized, said the pronouncement of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige was expected, arguing that it was not the responsibility of the Senate Committee on Banking to invite the Minister and others for a meeting since the issue fell within industrial relations.

FREEDOMLOVER:
OUR RESPECTUL FATHER THE TRADITIONAL LEADER OF UKWUANI IN DELTA STATE, MAZI OKPALA UKWU EDUCATING ONE OF THE HAUSA-FULANI SERVANT IN OUR LAND:

You Lied, Anioma Is Igbo And Part Of Biafra, Traditional Ruler of Ukwuani Tells Gov. Okowa

It is said that those who do not know their history always pick any story about who they are and run with it.

The effect of the military intelligence and propaganda onslaught during the Nigeria versus Biafra war by the Nigerian federal troop against the people of Igbo extraction, who were viewed, though erroneously, as the sole ethnic group that make up Biafra, has not been completely eliminated.. This created enormous distortion of pyschology and conmittant erroneous distortion of history among Igbo speaking people within the ancient Biafran region.

Recently, the governor of Delta State Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa, was quoted of saying that Anioma, though they speak Igbo are not Igbo and so not part of Biafra. He warned the Biafran agitators to steer clear of his state, Delta.

Though, most or majority of Anioma people accept their Igbo ancestry, but so many ugly politics has been played since the war ended with the identity of Anioma or Ika people.

The best people to tell children who they are are indeed the elders, they are masters of history and custodians of tradtion and culture. So, who is the best person to tell it the way it is other than the traditional ruler of Ukwuani in Anioma?

The traditional ruler of Ukwuani in Anioma Local government of Delta state, Okpala Ukwu emphatically told the governor of Delta state that he lied about Anioma and their ancestry.

The aged traditional ruler seen here in the photo told the media that, the governor lied and said that Anioma people are Igbo and therefore part of Biafra.

But there is a saying that goes this way “those who where present during burial can tell where the head of the corpse lies”. Those who are custodians of tradition and masters of their history can veritably tell who they are and narrate their history.

Though many argued that Gov. Okowa has deep knowledge that Anioma is Igbo but he, as a sitting governor, cannot openly support those agitating for sovereign state. Some argued that the best thing was for him to remain mute about the agitation instead of making efforts to rewrite the history of Anioma people.

A great number of Anioma scholars both at home and in diaspora have been very emphatic about the Igbo ancestry of Anioma people. Though a small number of them have deep hatred traced to the wartime propaganda, which still eoches in some quarters till this day.

Though the words from the aged traditional ruler may reaffirm the stand of the majority of Anioma people, it will not douce the fire amongst those who do not want to be counted as Igbo and consequently Biafra.

If this is not an endorsement of the murder of an innocent woman, has the CIC made any mention of bringing the culprits to justice? Why do people argue as if they are arguing or reasoning in reverse? How has the president "spoken well?". Are we implying that the woman deserved to die because she disrespected another person's religion?

I have earlier put up a post to sample the opinion of men on what their reaction would be if they found out their wife was cheating with a fellow woman. But I will like to also hear from women and understand how they'd react if they found out that their husband/boyfriend cheated with another man. So this thread is basically for women. How would you react if your husband cheated on you with a man. It will be educating to hear your reaction to this.

Am not one for sensational posts, but I just thought of this infidelity scenario and decided to sound out Nigerian men just to see how ego plays out when men find their wives/girlfriend cheating with other men, vis-à-vis cheating with a woman. So this thread is basically for men. So what would you do if you found your wife or girlfriend cheating with another woman? Well to answer the question myself, I would not really feel threatened, I'd just feel they are silly. If i came back and saw them on my bed in my room, I'll probably just ask them to go to the visitors room.
