Please advise, is it ok as a lady to drive the car because I dont want a situation where people will be stopping me on the road thinking it is a taxi.

He is in his final year in uni and hustling as a barber,

So lets reason for a monent, will a man who see no further than being a barber take d time to go to uni. I have seen recahrge card sellers who are in uni, phone repairers in uni. Besides some barbers even make more than d so called bankers.

If i may ask, are you a graduate yourself, if you go into this relationship, what exactly are you bringing to the table.

That man right there is focused and hardworking besides no condition is permanent.

Look at olujumoke.

Point of correction sir, Barbing is not a "condition". It is a proud profession. Its not pilots and doctors that barb the president. Its the proud barbers. I AM A CLEANER I do post construction cleaning, I offer cleaning services and facility management services, I have Janitors that work with me at client locations. I have a cozy website. That is my profession. I speak and write well. I am a graduate and I am proud of what I do. The girl is clueless, shortsighted and shitty.
Politics / Re: The Strike Was Suspended Not Called Off – PENGASSAN President by Totfulguy: 4:01pm On Mar 11, 2016
femiakinbully:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwmxfGQN2iI

The President of the PENGASSAN has said that the industrial action embarked by the Union was suspended and not called off.

Mr Francis Johnson who was a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday, said “A committee was set up to look at the issue. As at yesterday (Thursday), both PENGASSAN and NUPENG asked the committee to bring the names of their members so everything can be done transparently.”

The PENGASSAN President, however, gave reasons why the Union suspended the strike action.

“There was a communique issued, and in the communique there are some actions to be taken with timelines and time frame. We also need to see the sincerity and genuineness to be put in place so that everything can be done with transparency.

He urged for the government to review where we are, especially in an administration of accountability and transparency.

Answering a question on the cause of the strike, Mr Johnson said that the strike was as a result of the statement made by the Minister of State for Petroleum, (Dr. Ibe Kachikwu), about unbundling the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

“The Minister, while addressing a particular forum, said that the government will unbundle NNPC, set up directorates and have about 30 companies.

“The Union stakeholders at no fora, were taken along on such development.

“The act setting up NNPC, was an act of parliament, for you to also do anything, the act must be repeated or modified, which has not been done by the National Assembly.

The Minister of State for Petroleum, on March 3, said that the NNPC would be unbundled into 30 competitive revenue generating subsidiaries in the coming week.

He made the disclosure at the Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Mr Johnson, however, advised the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mr Kachikwu, to issue a journal stating that his statement on restructuring the NNPC was misunderstood.

“It is also good that Mr Kachikwu said that he was misunderstood. He should issue statement that it is not his intention to unbundle the NNPC,” he added.

Just like NNPC was restructured, not unbundled. grin grin grin

My parents have always wanted us to marry our tribe and not like we are in our state that I can say to get them will be possible. I have met with several men but didn't go into a relationship with them because they are not my tribe. The ones that are my tribe are so annoying and wayward. Now, there is this guy I have known for 4yrs as a friend, he have been so good to me but a barber and also in his final year, he is my tribe but I have not paid attention to him all this while upon he loves me. Am now in love with him but he's a barber and am scared if loving him and going into a relationship with him is a nice idea or should I still wait a little more?

If you marry a barber, when he gives you money will it turn in human hair or when he pays money into your account will the bank reject it because it was from barbing? I hear a clueless and lazy woman who is looking for a man that will slave for her. If you are worth ANYTHING, you will know what it takes to be barber. HARD-WORK! And if you have a hardworking god-fearing man, your marriage prayer is half-answered.

May I ask what marketable skill you have as of the time you wrote this post? How much do you generate for yourself?

Family / Re: Dear Mothers, Stop Bleaching Your Baby's Skin. by Totfulguy: 11:16pm On Feb 16, 2016
Kalvan:

I define the self as the part of humans that can not be changed or altered. The self is what makes us who we are. The skin is merely an outer shell. If men can study to alter their natural state of ignorance, if we can weightlift to build muscle mass. What is so damning about skin bleaching? It's just slightly altering the outer shell. It's low self esteem for Africans to keep on rehashing the same talking points. Changing one's skin doesn't make them a different person, and if Africans weren't so disconnected from their sense of self, they would realize that.

Clearly your definition of self is subjective like you have admitted. I think you should look at the normative definition of self-esteem. But for your subjective definition of self-esteem, I would have sounded you out on your rather contradictory contribution to this discuss. We can talk about this when you have reviewed and updated your opinion on self-esteem. But you do sound like you feel bad about this subject...like there is something you have done to your body that you cant reverse. You are taking everything personal.
Family / Re: Dear Mothers, Stop Bleaching Your Baby's Skin. by Totfulguy: 4:50pm On Feb 16, 2016
Kalvan:
Oh shut up. While I find bleaching a minor's skin reprehensible, I'm tired of all these sanctimonious sermons on bleaching. Blacks don't bleach to look Caucasian; Caucasians don't tan to look black. These bleaching sermons come from low self esteem. We don't see Caucasians policing their race. Let people do what they want.

I respect your opinion because it is yours. But it really got me into a bit of research into what "self-esteem" really is. Well I did google it and saw self-esteem described as follows, "In sociology and psychology, self-esteem reflects a person's overall subjective emotional evaluation of his or her own worth. It is a judgment of oneself as well as an attitude toward the self". Based on this definition, I tempted to believe that self-esteem has taken on a whole new "definition" in your diction. If someone who was borne with a black skin, CONSCIOUSLY embarks on a process that will alter, change, recreate, reverse what he/she is ( as in bleaching one's skin)...It implies that the individual DOES NOT "esteem" the "self" he has. So am wondering why the "sermon" reflects "low self-esteem", while the act reflects "self-esteem". Can someone help out? People are free to do what they want and should be ready to face the consequences. When we choose a habit, we choose its consequence.

Family / Dear Mothers, Stop Bleaching Your Baby's Skin. by Totfulguy: 10:46am On Feb 16, 2016
I observe with disgust and repulsion the exhibition of a low self esteem by people who seem to have made a covenant with cream that bleach the skin. The saddest part of this misadventure is the fact that in spite of the poor result from the use of "skin toning" (bleaching) cream, there appears to be a mass migration in that direction by people who just want to be "white". Just to put things in perspective, MAN CANNOT FIX WHAT GOD HAS MADE and at all times, we are made in the best way we could be by God. The above truth can be seen in the FACT that 99% of the time, we see most "bleaching project" fail and the effort to "fix" what the adventurer (victim) considers a problem often goes south and the results are nothing but regret even if expressed or shrouded in an "all-is-well facade.
But this is not the focus of this message, it is the most reprehensible act of abuse by parents who also apply their "skin toning" (bleaching) cream on their babies. I have overheard a mother who said she needed her baby to be as "white" as her neighbor's child. Not long thereafter, her baby started looking "toned" (but in an awful way). It is not an act of love to apply skin-toning (bleaching cream) on a child, in a bid to force a child to be "white". It is abuse. Our parents raised us with Vaseline and palm kennel oil and (to God's glory) we turned out well. We did not become failures because our parents raised us the skin God gave us. Indeed we are better for it. I could compare the skin remodeling adventure by parents on the children to a gender reassignment surgery by people who felt they were born in the wrong body. Parents should let they children keep their natural skin. We do not have to be "white" and "whites" don't want to be us. My black skin is a beautiful organ to be preserved and protected, and not to be washed away. You will get to the "white" skin only when you bleach the "black". If that is anything to go by, which skin is richer?

Family / Ten Words That Define A "Good Man". ONLY Ten WORDS! by Totfulguy: 11:54pm On Jan 22, 2016
Okay Ladies and Gentlemen, I just read a thread that inspired this thread. And this thread is intended to be fun and engaging. A lot of people have different opinions about what/who a good man is. So I thought I should give us a chance in a short sentence to, say who a "good man" is. So here are the rule for this thread.

1. Describe who a good man is in a sentence of 10 words.
2. It should not be more or than 10 word.
3. Use a word you find in the last post you will be responding to.
4. Be as honest a possible.

As much as possible lets have fun. So I start.

A good man fears God and loves his other people.
Family / Re: How Do I Stop Feeling Ashamed Of My Husband by Totfulguy: 11:36pm On Jan 22, 2016
scaredy:
I have been married for a year now to a man that is very unattractive. I married him for two reasons

1. My younger ones and friends were all married and I was desperate at 32.
2. He treats me well

He's a good husby but I sometimes get ashamed walking with him because he's very ugly. I'm a pretty girl and when we are in public he's all over me wanting people to know we are together and I see the looks they give us.

I don't mind sleeping with this man and being his wife, I just want the feeling of shame to stop.I know some men don't treat their wife well and I feel lucky mine own does that.

Such is life. We often take for granted the good things that come easy. On the other spectrum, you find people who adore their "ugly" husbands and wish they just had a little time for them. You see when people exhibit the degree of shortsightedness you have just expressed it goes to show that some humans do not deserve what they have. Madam, may I ask you what you define as "handsome" or "ugly"? You have rated yourself as "pretty", based on what benchmarks or standard? Do you look like Tunisian/Iranian/Saudi/Egyptian girls? Are you a six footer with a killer curve? ( I doubt because I cannot imagine this level of shortsightedness in a tall body).

Its clear that you did not/do not know what marriage is and you got married out of the exigency of it, due to what you consider passage of time and family pressure and unfortunately, to a good man. Well let me tell you something, ALL of us have ONLY a few years to look "pretty" and "handsome". In time we ALL fade away, such is life. What NEVER fades is the person we are inside. That is the most beautiful part.

That man you think is "ugly" is possibly highly sought after by another woman (Nairalanders abi no be so?) And sooner or later, as you continue to emit negative vibes to that man, you will loose him. And the one you think is "handsome" may not think you are "beautiful". Well let me define what I think is a beautiful woman and please tell me if you have all of this.

1. Humble and Kind
2. Respectful and Thoughtful
3. Loves her man from the inside
4. Hardworking and too busy to care what fickle things others think of home
5. Loves her parents and Spouses parent
6. Home builder
7. Truly loves children
8. Not Lazy but industrious/contributes to her own home.
9. Appreciates Little things
10.Fears God.
11. Can read and write.
12. Does not model after women in Nigerian films.

The list goes on. I doubt if you have met all this criteria. I hope you appreciate what you have before you loose it.

Now my question is;
Will it work out well considering the fact that we are in the same department/class?
What are the consequences if the school management gets to know about it?

Please no hating but constructive criticism will be welcome.
Thanks!

But that shouldn't be a problem. Don't you remember filling your admission form and adding that you PROMISE to date your course mate as soon as you are given admission? Please press the gas and stop asking for criticism. Your conscience is criticizing you already. I wont do a better job.

Have you had any issues with your mtn lines and you wish to resolve it, well the good news is that we have an MTN customer care person now on Nairaland to assist you with most issues you thought may not be easily resolved.

Well below we also visited one of the MTN branches and got these pictures showing massive turn out for the ongoing sim re-registration, the process was very fast and even though the crowd was much the MTN staffs did their best to pacify the customers and also provisions were made for buses to come and pickup customers to another branch.

This branch is located somewhere in Alaba, and I have visited on several occasions for devices and came back happy.

Was wondering what this front page does for/to users of NL.

Dear DSTV,

I have dated to you for a long time. And all thru the years I faithfully served you and toiled for you. All my resources I have invested in what was supposed to be a two-way relationship. But all I have gotten back in the form of affection are old documentaries, archived movies that are now the movie museum in America. And content that practically kill my drive and passion. And when, once in while, you show "recent" movies, they are only as "recent" as six months to a year ago. Our dream of building a mutually beneficial union has been hijacked by your greed and selfishness. You do not care how I feel or how I manage to pay the monthly subscription to watch your premiumless "premium" content.

I do not want to dwell on the insensitive increase in subscription which is not accompanied by an upgrade in content. I hear you only inflict this pain on those of us concubines here in Nigeria. While you fete other of your concubines in other countries with good content and recent information, not the outdated show of shame you feed us with.

I have borne with you and paid the price for years and I know its high time this pains stops. I heard NETFLIX is now streaming content to viewers in Nigeria and so I checked them out and it is TRUE. I watched an entire movie free and I am told I could continue to watch free for one month and later pay about 10 USD to be able to stream on four different devices. Honey (DSTV), with this great news, I am kissing you goodbye. My years of enslavement to you are over and I dare tell you that I will not come back (I know I have left and returned in the past). I only wish that the internet service providers will take advantage of this opportunity and give NETFLIX subscribers good data plans for high data consumption. I have waited for this day for long, and NOW IT IS HERE.

I wish everyone in an endurable relationship like I have had with you will have the opportunity to dump ruthless lovers like you for romantic and blissful lovers like NETFLIX. I have deleted you from all my social media channels. So dont try to call me as I will not take your calls or respond to you on whatsapp, 2go or BBM. I warned you about this day, but in your arrogance, you did not heed my warning. Goodbye DSTV...Hello NETFLIX.

Business / Re: Netflix Enters Nigeria, See The Winners And Losers by Totfulguy: 3:43pm On Jan 07, 2016
segello:
The World’s leading internet television company, Netflix has announced that it is expanding to about 130 companies around the world including Nigeria. According to the Press Release issued by the company, subscribers to Netflix service will be able to stream their series and catalogue of licensed TV shows and movies.

Netflix is also available on virtually any device that has an Internet connection, including personal computers, tablets, smartphones, Smart TVs and game consoles, and is known to provide one of the best possible streaming quality based on available bandwidth. The company followed the announcements with a series of tweets.
Implication for Nigeria

Winners

Before now watching Netflix from Nigeria was virtually impossible as you get blocked once your IP address is recognized as coming from Nigeria. By including Nigeria, interested subscribers can now access Neflix in exchange for a fee giving them access to their bouquet of movies, series and TV shows. Internet service providers in Nigeria will be happy to hear this announcements as it means Nigerians will have to rely on their service to stream programs. Internet consumption in Nigeria has been on an increase in recent years and now forms a huge chunk of the revenues accruing to GSM companies. Nigerians are now used to browsing the internet with their mobile phones, tablets and laptops relying on mifi’s, internet modems and VSAT. According to the National Communications Commission, NCC, Internet subscription numbers for GSM companies was about 97 million and almost thrice the number in 2012.

Losers

The news might not be so good for Nigerian companies into internet movie, series and TV show streaming. Netflix has a huge economies of scale that they can’t compete with and have also started adding Nigerian movies in their bouquet. They are also very good in the business of internet television and have what it takes to embark on a price war with their Nigerian competitors. Digital satellite TV stations are also threatened by this news as Netflix also boast of an impressive catalogue of series, TV shows and Box Office movies.

The Nigerian government could also lose tax revenues and face another round of forex pressures on its external reserves if the subscription is priced in US dollars. If the Nigerian Government is not up to speed with its plans to widen its tax base it could lose potential revenues to the US.

A carriage train was coming with high speed behind me, something just told me to observe my environment when I did I saw everyone looking at my direction, shouting, making hand signs but I couldn't hear anything but I understand the hand signs, they were telling me to get out of the track, 2 girls at the age of 7-9 ran towards me and they are making the hand sign immediately I grabbed them I took off my headphone, to my surprise the train is NEAR. It keeps the high tone horn blasting... After 5 seconds(without exaggeration) of me getting off the track the train passed by me with high speed about 80km per hr...
