A man/woman who discussess his/her private, relationship issues with a third party is inviting trouble for the relationship. Apart from the fact that it is insensitive and disrecpectful to leak out private details of a family affair, especially if they are confidential. (Like the fact that your husband does not satisfy you in bed, or that you wife cums too early and too often, therefore you do not enjoy sex).

These are private matters that should end in the bedroom. Telling third parties such issues is outrightly senseless. For a man it shows how weak and clueless he is and how incompetent and unprepared he is for the elavated position of head of family. For a woman it will be an indication of treachery. And a pointer to the fact that she is not a home maker nor fit to be a mother or wife.

However, a different scenerio exists where the family (man and woman) has a problem and the third party is in a position to profer solutions or advice. In that case, it could be mutually agreed that the third party's opinion should be sought. A man who does "wikileaks" his family's affairs will flip his lead and a woman who does same will loose the love and respect of her husband. Indeed, SHOULD LOOSE IT albeit,briefly.

I am not a Yoruba user, but what I can glean from the response to the post by L.A.J is that there is a 'spiritual' nay nocturnal underpinning to the traffic on the 3rd Mainland Bridge. That is very interesting! It would seem that every phonomenon in this part of the world has a 'spiritual' or rather 'spiritistic' or 'witchy' explanation. That is the bane of our civilization. This attitute has implications on our collective consciuosness and also affects our reality. It is rather sorry that a trend like the traffic on the Third Mainland Bridge, that should otherwise be the subject of serious discuss in academic and enlightened social circles is left to the realms of spiritual innuendos, emotional quips and explanation. It is the same spirit-inspired psyche that explains why accidents, armed robbery attacks, exam failures, power failure, looting of the national treasury, violation and child abuse are given spiritual explanantions. Thus when an accident occurs, it is not a drunk driver but an old woman in the village, a witch, that caused it. When a child or anyone for that matter fails an exam it is not a lack of preparation but a neighbour who does not want his progress. When our treasury is looted the witches and spirits are responsible not the looter (and the looting spirits discriminate because they never come my way).

One wonders when we will start taking control of our lifes and wrest them from the hands of faceless witches, demons and spirits, for until then we will keep finding ourselves in the cul-de-sac of underdevelopment that we are. One of the poster suggested that the spirits are angry because of their loss of accomodation arising from the Attention of the bridge. Nothing could be more humourous. That statement suggests that the spirits in this water lost their home and obviously could not find an alternative accomodation and so create the traffic situation that we see on the bridge. This will imply that the spirits do not have the adaptability or knowhow to find alternative accomodation. Such untested and baseless assumption is nothing short of native intelligence.

Recently, the Chinese government unveiled the world longest bridge over water, the Jiaozhou Bay Bridge (Pictures attached) this bridge is known to be earthquake and typhoon proof. With the sheer size and length of this bridge, one wonders how many Chinese spirits, witches and demons were rendered homeless and had to relocate. Am saying they relocated because there is no hold up on that bridge that is reputed to have the capacity to carry 30,000 vehicles at a go. Is it possible that the Chinese witches and spirits are smarter than their Nigerian counterparts? Could that be why we also open our borders to the Chinese to bring in their substandard goods because their people are smarter than we are? It probably also explains why they are in a hurry to develop their country while we are sitting back and seeking spiritistic explanations for our failings. it is also why our government looks away as Chinese companies subject Nigerians to dehumanizing working conditions. It appears too that the witches are responsible for the potholes on our roads and the blackouts that we experience on a daily basis; Witches are possibly responsible for the poor governance that has been our portion in this country.

My take on this spirit and witch psyche that we have all embraced as a nation (which I reject) is that until we begin to explain our failings,problems,ineptitude and poor judgement from ourselves before pointing fingers at non-existent courses, solution will forever elude us.

Is there a single explanation for the traffic situation the Third mainland bridge in Lagos. I am having in mind the situation in which on certain days of the week (Mondays and Wednesdays morning) you find terrible traffic on the bridge when you are bound for the Island and on other days you have a smoothe uninterrupted ride on the the same bridge. I think with the confusion on the role of Amcon, its role as it relates to salvaging of toxic assets of banks, the ensuing court cases that are trailing sale of bank to investors and the refusal of shareholders to lets go, a lot is left to be desired. Amcon is really one institution that does not seem to have a clearly defined portfolio. Does anyone have a friend that is working with Amcon? I am not trying to be pessimistic, all am saying is that we should not expect too much of Amcon. Apply in other places and if Amcon comes then that will be a bonus. Its really sad to hear the story on this thread. from what I can glean from the entire story, it is obvious that your (KissKriss') in-law's family does not have a respected father figure (They have either "disabled" him with their insolence and tantrums or outrightly killed him (ur father-in-law). What you are experiencing is merely a continuation of the 'movie' with you as the vanquished in this episode. I see that you seem to be someone who erroneously believes that you can win people who do not love or respect you by being extra-nice. This is a false proposition and only works well in one out of a million cases. I do not know if your mother in-law is living in an apartment you paid for or you are co-baiting with her in you father-in-law's house. Whatever is the case, bear the following facts in mind;
1. They are not looking down on you "because you dont have a job". They look down on you because YOU LET THEM. The moment you take charge and show those people that you are in control, they will stop their insults.
2.Even if you don't have a job, remember "You dress to be addressed", the way and manner you carry yourself, will determine the treatment you will get. Are you a lazy man who is waiting to given? Or do you in your current jobless state do what you can to show you REALLY NEED A JOB and LOOK FOR A JOB. I understand the pressure associated with not having a job and looking after a family, but you must "Find something do make something no do you".
3.You have given them the impression that you NEED them to survive. You either love your wife so much that you have lost/forgotten your substance as a man OR you have given them that impression and they are taking undue advantage of it. You should never love a woman and forget who you are UNLESS SHE TOO LOVES YOU AND FORGETS COMPLETELY WHO/WHAT/WHY she is. Am not advocating distrust, am saying "Man, Know thyself and give the woman her place". You can love your wife crazy for all I care, but she should love you crazy too otherwise, hold ur love.
4. Your wife's sister talks to you rudely and your wife cannot call her sister to order. In that case she would have to choose where her loyalty is and stay there, your wife I mean.
5. Get real my friend, the moment you overcome your fears and tell yourself that there is a limit to what you can do to please those people, only then will you understand the liberating power of realism. If people who are supposed to have your back at a time when you need them most, turn their back on you and also run you down, What more do you need to know that they are against you? If you are considering the kids who are obviously in the picture. I can relate to that. But the effrontary with which they are unleashing their reign of terror, you may need to really ascertain the paternity of the children, in case they belong to your wife's Ex cos you never can tell. That way you will be sure of what you are loving and feeling committed to.
5. All said, BE A MAN. DO NOT PANDER TO THE WHIMS AND CARPRICES OF YOUR MOTHER-IN-LAW. You wife must show you absolute support especially at this your moment of trial. Else do not waste you time mining for her/their affection. Rather invest your energy in getting a job and improving yourself. When you have money, you will buy their loyalty and "friendship" since they appear to be materialistic and honor things over people.
6.Do not loose your next job because you wanted to please your wife. You will still end up loosing your wife. When poverty walks in through the front door, some kinds of love walk out through the back door. I sympathize with you. But you don't need sympathy, you need to stand up on your feet. God bless.
