Is it a question a Nigerian living in Nigeria should be asking. Where is the electricity to power such industrial AC. Do we have the maintenance culture, those that made a mistate to install it in their offices later went back to individaul separate installation because they cannot maintain it. Mind you is not that they dont have the money to maintain it but either the 'oyinbo' engineer that installed it has gone and no one else can support it or our usual manner of lack of maintenance affected it.

Maintenance is not in our culture therefore wise builders simply do the one they can maintain for the future.

OP, you did not state the health risk attached to exposure to Xray, I know one - Leukaemia,cancer of the white blood cells, its been linked to exposure to radiant energy, I know in Nigeria where standards are not followed. Many operators hardly protect themselves adequately either because the lead aprons are not in place or they are in bad shape. Most radiographers in Nigeria end up doing more than one job in order to make ends meet hence exposing themselves to radiation, some Xrays equipment especially in private hospitals are sited in residential buidings without the required protections within the walls of the building thereby exposing innocent tenants and neighbors to radiation all because nobody checks, the govt dont even look at that sector in the first place.

Overseas they have monitoring devices that check the level of exposure so they can ease off such staff for sometime to reduce the radiation load in the concerned staff but here nothing like that so radiographers keep on keeping on until they drop. Dont forget exposure to xrays can cause mutation and other gene disorders.

No doubt they are always in demand reason been that the qualified personnel can not meet the demand for them however the job risk is high and also the awareness of the course is low. I believe upgrading the former Fed Sch of Radiography in yaba to a degree awarding institution was a step in the right direction. Meanwhile, remember that as far as the medical system is concerned they are paramedical staff the doctors are and will always remain the head of the medical team.
BTW, radiography is not limited to medical science only we have forensic and industrial radiographers and I can tell you that is where the real money is and not in medical xrays.
When you are taking xrays of oil pipelines for cracks or conducting forensic investigations using xrays you will understand why radiographers are in very high demand and are well paid.

But not medical radiographers in Nigeria, some are not finding it funny out there i can assure you unless maybe those working in private company hospitals like mobil, shell, NNPC, etc but then how many radiographers can they employ probably 3-4.

Just imagine a federal minister laughing like this in public as if there is no more fuel scarcity, electricity problem, unemployment challenge, insecurity and others. Seriously this shows this guys are just not ready for business how can a federal minister not compose himself properly in public. Now see how others around there are looking at him and wondering what on earth is so funny, is he laughing because he is covered he doesn't feel what other Nigerians are experiencing or is he laughing because the transportation challenge in Nigeria is fixed.
