You are checking the wrong way. The currency you HAVE is NAIRA while the currency you WANT is POUNDS. Check in the correct format and you’ll see that the rate as at today is N510

I am scared about the dynamic exchange rate of dollars and nairas. My deposit with maintenance funds(wife and I) costs GBP24255. I have 5 million naira and $21500 in my accounts. Do I need to add more naira due to the varying currencies rates.

If you requested via mail. Then it should be in the reply they send back to you to confirm your appointment date

I don’t think it’s about the bank.
It’s just a general requirement to show Bsc Certificate for Msc. Same as Bsc, you need to show your Waec certificate or Foundation Certificate.

I maybe wrong but at least from experience or others that I know, it’s mandatory. I don’t know why those rules are strict but I guess it’s to prevent money laundering or something similar idk.

In this case, the best is to negotiate with someone in the U.K. to help him with the payment.

But most important question is, CAN HE GO FOR VISA WITHOUT HIS BSC CERTIFICATE? I doubt they accept statement of result.

Guys, I've not been able to make deposit for my tuition fees or to at least get my CAS processed because, my banks insisted that they need my BSc school certificate (I don't have that yet) or a certified true copy of my statement of result.
Now, I do have my original statement of result. With a signature and a seal (for goodness sake). They also do not want it certified by a court and my school is on lockdown.

I've explored for other alternatives, you know send money to someone in the UK to make a transfer to the school while I pay into their naira account but the least exchange rate I'm getting is almost 600 naira per GBP.

Someone tell me what to do please.

That's what I did when I had my first masters. It was my first time in Lagos, I no even know road then (couldn't even navigate my way home on the first day I had to discover google map by force) talk less of understanding the Lagos system. We survived by God's grace and even enjoyed the adventure afterall. So the issues you highlighted are not the challenge.

Bottom line is that it is not allowed for tier 4 immigrants, so Idea dropped


There are many other ideas that could generate income. The thing is ruminating well over it, checking it well(for compliance as the case might be) and planing well. Nobody builds a house without first counting the cost.

Sometimes, when I read some comments here, I wonder if people know what they are signing up for when they want to study in UK. It's not like Najia.. it's not easy.. it's a whole new ball game.. you need time to understand the system, build your own reading system and then add work time +school time+study+rest..

And you want to add Uber driver to it.. where you need to be on standby..what if you are attending class and you receive notice to pick up a passenger.. will you keep leaving lectures or after a while stop attending lectures.. I have worked with drivers before. driving is a full time job and quite tiring... it 's unbelievable that someone still wants to defend why they will do this inspite of it being stated that tier-4 can't do it..

Let's learn to follow the rules my people.. it will make life better for other Nigerians coming behind us.. I take God beg una ehn..

When you mean top up, I guess you mean toppping up school deposit cos even if you top up your bank account, you might need to start counting all over again from your day of top up (from my own understanding though)

I remember mentioning this earlier, anyone submitting and paying visa fees from today has to use the current Oanda rate. Thats the annoying thing about using a foreign account and one like ours that is so volatlile and unstable.

When there is so much debate and translation of any situation. Best to say avoid it and choose something more straightforward. Uber interpretation has been severally debated. Make sure you go with a sane , less confusing job when working as a student

Make it the last reason... Highlight the pros of the school and the course. Find out additional programs you may have access to. Make it about your study not necessary living conditions. This is a key question during Visa interview

Yes but you should support it with other reasons & probably mention it towards the end of the interview.

You could research more about the university and city.
That way you have more factual reasons to give in addition to having a friend/family there

Yes it does invalidate the terms, just like working above 20 hours. You’re not supposed to (according to the rules), but man must survive. It would be best if you could use a Nigerian bank account.

If not, you still use your U.K. account to receive payments. You can own one or more U.K. accounts as well.
Eg : NatWest & Barclays or NatWest but two savings account.

Tbh, it’s rare for you to be “caught”.
Infact I’ve never heard of anyone all through my stay and after that got in trouble with immigration because of self employment. I may be wrong acc to some users here but I’m sure home office got better things to do than clamp on people doing freelance work to survive.

Just be cautious and thread carefully

True.. to each his pocket but in all honesty I don't subscribe to all this plenty stopovers. The difference in savings most times isn't even up to a 100k if we put everything in a cost perspective.

P.S: For the experience and if it is worth your while, a layover can be a great adventure. Atleast you can mouth off that you have been to a certain country even though you alone stopped at the airport lounge.
