besides, why is there such a high demand for prostitutes in those countries, that they have to import them in such large numbers? are the men's sex drives higher than normal? who are the men needing all these women? Are the women from their own countries unavailable for sex? ![]() |
if we're going to spend all our time debating if Nigeria should break up or not, then of course the country will never move forward. Instead of finding a solution to rampant poverty and underdevelopment it seems all we want is to forever move in a circle with no progress. whether Nigeria breaks up or not e go still remain in Africa- and is still called third world. The greatest beneficiaries will always be the leaders who are at the helm of affairs. even if nigeria divides into 300 countries- one country per tribe. That is not the solution to poverty. ![]() |
tribal warfare don return to nairaland be that o. All these "desperately seeking (insert tribe here)" threads are in fact very suspicious. all over the place.
tpia, any reason why you and a few others keep implying that the only reason why a woman might choose NOT to keep the baby is because of fear of losing the fiance or what "society" would think? Is it really that hard for people to believe that maybe some women just wouldnt want such growing in their bodies?
oh, I'm not implying a woman wouldnt want to abort the pregnancy as her own personal decision. I was looking at it from the angle of the woman not wanting to abort the baby if possible. But many women no doubt would prefer to get rid of it. After all, that's lifelong evidence of the rape. Not to mention the demented rapist. In fact, in some western countries I think most rape victims are given drugs to end/prevent any such pregnancy, as soon as the rape is reported. Doubt if the woman is even asked whether she wants it or not. Rape isnt the only reason a woman would end a pregnancy- inconvenience, health, annoyance, breaking up with a partner, uncooperative boyfriend, etc are all some of the reasons why pregnancies get terminated. |
ocho cinco:nice songs here . Including stillwater's too (salif keita). I'm sure there's comparable Nigerian music. This song by another Malian- Habib Koite- is embedded in Windows media player. At least that's how I found it. Very touching rhythm. Din Din Wo. ( means Little Child) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSLiavMjd50 from wiki: One of Koité's best known songs, "Cigarette Abana" (No more cigarettes), was first recorded in 1991. A new Latin-style version on his later CD Baro, along with the song "Nanalé", won Koite the Radio France International Discoveries Prize in 1992. After this recognition, Koité was able to launch his first tour outside of Africa in 1994. He met his manager the next year, and released his first album, Muso Ko which rose to #3 on the European World Music Charts. Two tracks from Muso Ko, I Ka Barra, and Din Din Wo were included with Microsoft Windows Vista, meaning that his music will be installed on many millions of PCs. His follow-up album, Ma Ya, also did very well. |
Cherish by David Cassidy http://youtube.com/watch?v=4ZVkDNWuJoE Cherish is the word I use to describe All the feeling that I have Hiding here for you inside You don't know how many times I wished that I had told you You don't know how many times I wished that I could hold you You don't know how many times I've wished that I could mold you into someone Who could cherish me as much as I cherish you Perish is the word that more than applies To the hope in my heart each time I realize That I am not going to be the one To share your dreams That I am not going to be the one To share your schemes That I am not going to be the one To share what seems to be the life That you could cherish me as much as I do yours Oh, I'm beginning to think That man has never found The words that could make you want me That have the right amount of letters Just the right sound That could make you hear Make you see That you're driving me out of my mind Oh I could say I need you But then you'd realize that I want you Just like a thousand other guys Who say they'd love you With all the rest of their lives When all they wanted was to Touch your face, your hands And gaze into your eyes Cherish is the word I use to describe All the feeling that I have hiding here for you inside You don't know how many times I wished that I had told you You don't know how many times I wished that I could hold you You don't know how many times I wished that I could mold you into someone That could cherish me as much as I cherish you And I do Cherish you And I do I cherish you Yes I do I cherish you |
snazzydawn:OBVIOUSLY Pitokwe falls terribly short in that area, otherwise he wouldnt be covering his problem by opening this kind of senseless thread. I thought men were supposed to be relaxed after sex- if that's the time he finds himself getting angrier then clearly something is wrong Pitokwe, the girls you meet at night in those places you mentioned, are working at their "day" jobs. Same as you. |
the woman's choice I think would be between the fiance and the baby. The fiance would most likely call off the wedding if the girl decides to keep the pregnancy. However, the choices can also depend on the circumstances or location. For example, women have been raped in war zones and kept the babies rather than have an abortion. There was a documentary on Rwanda which showed some of these women. These kids were still loved by their mothers even though they were the product of rape. And many times the kids were all that was left of the women's extended family- everyone else ( parents, siblings, cousins, etc), were all dead. In any other situation, there'd be a bigger debate, I guess. The woman might just have to choose between her fiance and the baby. Though maybe a lot of women would decide to abort in the confusion of the moment, and also fear of losing their partner. imo, if the man can't live with what happened, then maybe the union wasnt meant to be and they should both go their separate ways. Even if the woman aborts the pregnancy, what happened will still be a big problem even during the marriage. A marriage which should be postponed anyway so both parties can recover from the trauma and reevaluate their situation. ![]() In another instance, there was case years ago in the paper where a woman went for IVF treatments and was accidentally inseminated with the wrong sperm. From a white man. The woman was black. So was her husband. The clinic found out after everything. The woman decided to keep the baby but I don't know her husband's reaction. I wasnt there o- no way of verifying. I read it in some paper ages ago. |
I guess they might take them down later. And yes, the girls probably have no idea their pictures are here. In fact, the Camerounian teenager looks like someone I know- exact same eyes and features. Female version of the guy. I hope she's not his sister. @ mc usman: nice pix. Pretty girls. You guys are getting serious now about this picture posting. The one with the black scarf- is she the same person in the Yola picture. The Fulani/Yola lady also seems Ethiopian. She looks like she's getting married/engaged in that same picture ( with the blue veil). ![]() |
hmmm, I wonder why stepmoms in Nigeria generally seem to be rather harsh on the stepkids, with relatively few exceptions. Must be the crabs in a barrel analogy. I doubt if most stepmothers overseas would be as harsh to their stepfamilies. And most countries in the western world have a far higher divorce rate than Nigeria. So I'd guess there are more children raised with stepparents overseas than at home. But comparatively fewer instances of mistreatment and malice. It might be the economy, maybe. any instances of stepfathers? I dont have any but I know a few people who were raised by their stepdads. |
where is the donzman sef. Very argumentative guy. And who is this akede oba? ![]() |
away4real: there are multiple threads in honor of Obama. Why is this single one disturbing you? na by force to shout obama? ![]() |

Iyawo means wife or bride, in some parts of Nigeria, especially the Yoruba side. However, i found this on wiki: There are generally two types of priesthood in the different nations of Candomble, and they are made up of those who possess Orisa (Iyawo) and those who do not (Oga - male/Ekeji - female). It is important not to confuse the meaning and usage of the Yoruba term Iyawo (bride in Yoruba) with other African derived religions that use the same term with different meanings. It seems there are Yoruba based cultures outside of Nigeria which don't exactly mirror the original Yoruba culture and structure from Nigeria. TheOneBK's post: I think these sites may help a bit, from my experiance, an Iyawo is a person that has just been reborn in the Yoruba religion.got me confused, since I've never known Iyawo to mean anything but wife. ![]() |
Uche2nna:not saying they're innocent most times, but are they worse, is the question. ![]() |
almondjoy:read the book o. E dey there. This is something I saw myself, not that I heard. E record am for inside im book. If its not in Audacity of Hope, then it should be inside the other one: Dreams of my father. Not that I'm surprised his aunt would tell him that- just amazed he actually included that juicy bit o' hearsay in his memoirs. We Africans are the ones joining the messiah bandwagon now. Obama na messiah. Tavis Smiley's State of the Black Union is quite alright. Very informed and well organized. I wish I'd been there sef. All these things you mentioned were also discussed. ( That's why they hosted it in New Orleans). The only addition I'd like to see is the inclusion of some people of direct African descent in the forum. Even if they're American African. Currently it seems to be an all AA affair. But quite excellent. ![]() |
@ almondjoy Is it only a Nigerian woman that as hiccups in their sexual histories? Nothing compared to the portholes in the Naija dudes chequered sexual histories either, child support payments with at least 2 different womenI wonder o. but some of them mind so much when the woman is naija. If she's not naija, all is forgiven in the spirit of love or green card. ![]() I'm sure all the ones broadcasting their encounters with various types of females and female anatomy, will insist on finding a fresh young innocent soul when they want to marry. Maybe the guys will even pretend they are virgins sef. ![]() |
adechuks:this is a very interesting book, imo. ![]() every major emotion is there. Dont want to say too much right now. |
@ poster: maybe na spirit. same goes for the breasts you dey see for lagos. You know say ocean no far from there. And as you like to waka pass. ![]() or maybe that one below na the actual color- the one for head fit be hair dye. 22 years can be 52 if you're a casanova who jumps into bed within ten minutes of meeting a female. No time to doublecheck your info. |
@ poster: if the boy looks so much like you that you had no idea he might not be yours, then maybe you should get a second DNA test from a different source, just to confirm. ![]() I do wonder how the matter came to light after fours years of raising the child. |
4 Play:If there's no guarantee that a marriage with a Nigerian man will last, then a naija girl might as well marry a non-Nigerian, imo. When it even comes to naija girls anyway, a lot of naija men get unneccesarily picky, but on the other hand, they're not too particular when dating other nationalities. For their countrywomen most times, they'll want to perform exhaustive investigation and trace her lineage as far back as possible. Not to mention get hiccups at her sexual history. No such nitpicking when they marry a foreigner for either love or green card. Not saying its a bad thing, but I just don't believe naija guys should have a monopoly on extra-cultural dating/marriage. ![]() |
almondjoy:na rumor inside his book o. Either The Audacity of Hope or his other book: Dreams of my Father- can't remember which one exactly. He said his gossipy Kenyan aunt told him "they eat people" in Nigeria, or something like that. His books are very good but I don't know why that had to be the only thing he chose to say he heard about Nigeria. That was the comma I had about his writing. na wa for people. If its not 419 tag for Nigeria it will be something else. As long as its negative. ![]() though that's not my reason for being tired of all the Obama peptalk. It just gets repetitive after a while. And boring. I heard Tavis Smiley received death threats for criticizing Obama's absence from the State of the Black Union symposium. That's way over the line, imo. http://tavistalks.com/events/signatureevents/stateoftheblackunion |
