I know what i am saying when i mentioned "igbo haters" .
I said she came to the wrong place " Nairaland"
I am not new in this nairaland and i know them all

Maybe you're the one that needs to read from the first post, with just a single post you're now telling me to follow the thread, LoL

No dey look for back up wink , and i have answered him

I am qouting myself here, i am sure you're paying attention tpia
if you're referring to the side argument between yourself, mellow and oziomatv disputing the Igboness or otherwise of Delta Ibos, then maybe you guys should start another thread to debate that.

The only Igbo man who is being hated on here is Leilah's husband.  That's why I said you should reread the thread from the beginning.

Doublecheck  what you're referring to as Igbo hating.

Kindly point out the exact posts which are " Igbo hating" on this thread.

See your first post here, (a diatribe against "mixed" people, b.tw):
Mixed as in Hausa/Yoruba or Bini/Efik ? Who will not claim to be igbo again here!! In and out of English schools in Nigeria or outside Nigeria? small children of nowadays

@topic
Pay more attention to your family and leave all those old women giving you advice here because a good wife does not spend all her time on internet forums. If you had not stated that he took you to Nigeria to meet his parents, they would've told you to run away from him!

Egusi soup, pounded yam or Kedu is not what a man needs!! A man needs 24hrs support of the wife and vice versa
You are the one who's prejudiced, as far as I can see. Correct me if I'm wrong.

She wanted to know more about Nigerians and i believe she came to the wrong place though, Too many igbo haters and ignorants of igbo cultures! They will not offer you good advice but they will spend more time trying to find faults in your post to prove their " i too know disease".

Some people always want to be smart where they shouldn't be wink
can you  plz go back and follow this thread from the beginning instead of posting prejudiced comments.

99% of the posters/responders here are either Igbo, half Igbo or married to Igbo. So who are the Igbo bashers and where are you seeing Igbo hating?

The only person being bashed unequivocally that I can see, is Leilah.  People were raining abuses on both her and her husband.  And she was told the quality of her own man is less than others, since nobody on Nairaland or even Nigeria itself has ever done anything her husband may be doing.

I don't know what you are reading here. undecided

the lyrics are poetry set to music.

Full of symbolism and open to various interpretations.
Music/RadioRe: Kiss From A Rose? What Rose? by tpia: 4:46pm On Feb 12, 2008
Its an interesting but strange song.

It seems rather gothic as well, imo.

I think the rose from the grave might be a past love who died or whose memory is dead to him ( bitter memories he doesnt like thinking about).

People place flowers on graves in memory of their loved ones.

the new love interest is the current rose- the rose in bloom. Also sounds like he's talking about seeing a ghost in the graveyard. And maybe spirit possession/reincarnation.

It could also mean he thought he was dead to love but the woman revived his frozen emotions.

creepy lyrics but great song. Could be New Age, I suppose.

the opening and closing scenes in the video  show Seal standing on a graffiti covered street- signs of gang turf and activity. In the opening scene, he's alone while in the closing scene he's with his girlfriend, who is dancing and also looks gothic.

It takes a developed mind to understand what religion is all about, presently, the minds of majority of africans are undeveloped, something almost very close to chimps,i don't know why, people are not just thinking.Understanding the basic principles of life answers the big questions of religion, discover, create and be authoritative.
Live like gods.
is that so.

Very very uneasy. But that's just me. lipsrsealed

Christianity EtcRe: Should I Force My Daughter To Go To Church? by tpia: 12:01am On Feb 10, 2008

once again lots of good advice, and just as conflicting as my own train of thoughts have been along undecided
I have given her the same argument that if she has to go to school then she has to come to church, but the last thing I want to do is to build resentment in her so that when she becomes an adult she will definately decide not to go to church.
My church is very mixed, ages, races etc She also attends a church school with her twin sister (who has no problem going to church)
Maybe this is the problem. As a twin fighting for her own identity huhalthough I have always differentiated between them on all levels.
At school they have no choice about attending services etc
The teen pregnancy is a bit of the mark. I know my daughter and I know what she is capable of.When she is not at church she is at home.We usually return from church within 2 hours anyway.I trust her as I know her. smiley
you're making some very valid points here.

its good if you trust your daughter and know she doesnt move with bad influences too.

Your prayers are definitely needed as regards the church situation, I'd also say.

I guess its a phase most parents have to go through. Hopefully it will only be a phase and nothing permanent.
Christianity EtcRe: Should I Force My Daughter To Go To Church? by tpia: 10:10pm On Feb 09, 2008
@D-Reloaded

tpia, most churches forbid contraceptive esp The catholic church which is why you see Hispanics and co with their numerous children

They never remember the part of No fornication but since they don't want to be seen as premeditating on the act,  aka KNOWINGLY buying condoms to sin, they do without hence the babies and claiming "heat of the moment"
hmmm, D-Reloaded, what of Naija Catholics? or even naija Christian kids in general?

dem sabi condom and birth control o.

On Sundays, some can even run out to buy cigarettes for a quick smoke while their parents are worshipping in church. Thinking their kids are safely learning the bible in the teen section.

Tori plenty o.

Seun:
Buhahaha. Atheist kids don't get pregnant that easily. They use contraceptives.
It's the silly church kids who get knocked up because they can't be seen buying condoms.
I wish. Even western countries still have a high rate of teen pregnancy, despite liberal abortion laws and very high contraceptive use.

teenagers only think they're mature enough to cover all the bases. They're not.

and na church kids dey buy condom pass .

@topic,No you can't force your daughter to church, its too late !
@poster,you need to get closer to God yourself, commit your daughter to him.initiate and have talks with your daughter, see what made her believe in what she believes in now.my sister, you need to pray harder ooooo.
she definitely cant force her daughter to believe in God, but maybe she should carry her along to church anyway. Teen pregnancy is a very real possibility here.

that's why I asked what the daughter would be doing at home by herself when everyone else is in church.

Kids sometimes forget that adults used to be kids too. Reminds me of my own teenage years. My mom was very religious and often left me/us alone at home while she went to church. Of course we had friends over. Or went visiting friends who were also home alone.

We watched movies, and did regular teen stuff, but I dont doubt there were some who were getting it on as well. Maybe my mom's fervent prayers saved me from teenage pregnancy. A classmate of mine wasnt so lucky.
FamilyRe: Do You Have A Step Mum? by tpia: 5:11pm On Feb 09, 2008
Its very disturbing when some folks take it on themselves to accuse other people of not wanting to have anything to do with their step siblings or stepmoms. Occasionally in real life ( not anyone on this thread), some take it on themselves to complain about people who don't embrace their extended families.

Staying away from trouble doesnt mean you're not forgiving. Sometimes it just means you're trying to avoid people who are determined to see you end up in the mental ward.

Everyone knows what experiences they had growing up, and I've never believed its right to condemn some people for staying away from anyone who traumatized them- be it step family, half family or blood family.

With the rampant polygamy in Nigeria, there's so much trauma involved, in spite of all the denials and grandstanding.

There are good stepmoms who are genuinely concerned about their stepkids. Unfortunately, in Nigeria, the bad ones probably outweigh the good ones. And many men ignore their child being maltreated, for the sake of peace. or because they hate the mother. Sad.
Christianity EtcRe: Should I Force My Daughter To Go To Church? by tpia: 4:52pm On Feb 09, 2008
@ poster:

since she seems to be an intelligent child, let her know you respect her views. However, you probably need to brush up on your own knowledge base in order to discuss with her in intelligent language she understands, rather than "commanding" her to do stuff. In short, surprise her with your own intelligence too. Let her see you through different eyes. Not as an "oldie' who's out of touch with real life. Need I ask if your church is culturally Nigerian.

Then you might want to try getting her interested in a different youth ministry. One where she'll meet youths her age who can show her being smart isnt limited to certain circles.

Besides, what will she be doing alone at home on Sundays or whatever days, after the rest of the family have gone to church? Entertaining her friends? Who's keeping an eye on her? Of course you cant watch her 24/7, but still.

guys guys, when you call yourselves handsome please make sure you are really handsome!

ladies don't often make that mistake- if they're going to post a picture they make sure its one where they look beautiful.

its not that hard to take a good picture- just know your attractive angle and post a picture of that. Take lots of pictures and chose the best one that can wow anybody!

The boy in this picture for instance, can't be older than 15 and reminds me of Steve urkel from Family Matters.

Christianity EtcRe: Lovemaking After Traditional Wedding Only: Is This Fornication? by tpia: 5:55pm On Feb 07, 2008
baso has made some very good points here.

However, I'd say just wait until after your church wedding before sleeping together, if you're the type that considers it important.  If only because of what people will say. Beware the power of the tongue. Also to set a good example. if your pastor/church considers these things important, then dont disappoint them by not waiting. Of course this is all easier said than done. undecided Its up to the couple, really.

I doubt there's anywhere in the bible that invalidates any cultural form of marriage. These things existed long before the first church was started. What about people of other, non-Christian religions?

Marriage isnt just about fairytale romance and whatnot- its a valid, legal contract between two people. Its recognized in the eyes of the law, and not just the church.

Ladies, would you date a man that is short and handsome or tall and ugly?

Remember short men are assume to be aggressive and tall men are assume to be clown (MUMU) .
so short men are agressive while tall men are clowns (mumu), is what you're saying?

the choice is between a short thunder and a tall dolt?

Any other options? grin grin

isnt it wonderful how some guys will call women every name under the sun, and ignore the fact that their mothers and sisters are also womenhuh

huh huh

This is puzzling.

Unless they also hate their mothers sha. Then it makes sense.

Or maybe they were raised by a gay couple- one of those families with two daddies and no mommy.
