calebo101: My sisters won the visa lottery and have been there for about 2 months now, one of them with her hubby and things are moving smoothly i tell you. Testimonies abound from there. Someone that was earning around 50k a month in Naija now earns $450 in a week and it's not even a white collar job!!! That's quadruple his earnings whilst in Naija and the bills aren't as most people think. The guy never still believe e eyes yet. It's not as difficult as imagined if you have a path to follow.
How is he surviving on $450 a week? huh

He's not paying rent and doesn't have a car?

School is obviously out of the question.

armadeo: The entire picture smacks of fraud.

The soil, background foliage even the workers.

This is someone's property and yes its an Igbo village but this time its really one in igboland not USA.
The workers were brought over from Igboland, to build the huts.

There was a thread about it at the time, somewhere.

The soil and foliage get more tropical looking as you head towards southern US.

its good news for him no doubt, but i think there should be an official nigerian billboard listing for nigerian music so we have an idea exactly what the news is with the nigerian scene.

Is anyone going to post it on youtube or 4shared?

I saw a clip yesterday , to me, it sounds much like his other albums and also like nigerian albums in general

( ie the nowadays ones).

I could be wrong of course, haven't listened to the whole thing yet.
FashionRe: Photo Of The Day: Nigeria At The Miss Universe Contest In 1964 by tpia1: 7:39pm On Aug 01, 2014
TheMasterpiece: Actually, that's not the regular dressing; the picture shows them in their national costumes. The Best National Costume award (BNC) was worn by Miss Holland. In the picture below, are some of the same contestants in what could pass as today's dressing, nothing much changed.
The picture you posted shows the swimwear part.

The pageants don't feature that type of attire anymore- only bikinis.

So yes, quite a lot changed.

Nigeria, always slow to act because they want to appear "nice".

America (and ghana) dont care about niceties in that manner.

Lord have mercy.

CultureRe: When Last Did You Visit Your Hometown by tpia1: 7:16pm On Aug 01, 2014
And btw, folks are just too nosy nowadays, always in business that doesn't concern them. Not referring to this thread alone.
CultureRe: When Last Did You Visit Your Hometown by tpia1:
Visiting your hometown is good for some, bad for others.

You need to find out what kind of hometown you have before visiting all willy nilly. For some , going to your hometown means you will meet your maker, while for others, it is not so.

Imo, it is wrong to condemn people for not visiting their hometown when you do not know their reason for not doing do. Not to mention whose business is it if people visit their hometown or not.

Like I pointed out before, watch the episode of married with children where they visited their hometown, and give feedback on that.

Ancestral enemies are real, likewise haters are also real. The whys and wherefores of why anyone decides to hate, are irrelevant. Just accept hatred as a fact.

For those whose hometowns welcome them wholeheartedly, good for you, nothing wrong with that.

and regardless if you visit often or not, just consider yourself a diasporan towns-person of wherever you're from, if you want.

IslamRe: Islam For Muslims: Side Talk Station by tpia1: 9:36pm On Jul 31, 2014
bro, stop all this kufr thing, of all the problems in nigeria and facing nigerians today, i think kufr should be the least of your worries.

when you first joined nairaland, you started out in the christian section (preaching), and nobody disturbed you or called you kufr there.
In fact, you spent more time in christian section then than you did in Muslim section.

If kufr was that important to you, then you would not have been so comfortable chatting with christians in christian section.

Just saying, I dont know what brought about your kufr comment, but its getting a bit too much here- this is the third time i'm seeing someone refer to kufr in less than a month.

lets caution ourselves, nobody knows the mind of God.

if i am reading you wrong, then ignore my post.

emk4lif: Not to rain on your parade but billboard's world music category ranks songs outside the US primarily predominantly from South America,Asia,Africa etc, PS Asa's Beautiful Imperfection peaked at no 3 on Billboard's world music category years back, thumbs up to the dude anyways.
Nairaland figures and claims are always somehow.

Once you scrutinize MOST of the claims, the substance vanishes into thin air.

As to how an african country will predominate in latin america over latin american music, I guess folks can explain better.

For asian own, good luck claiming that.

RomanceRe: Have You Got What It Takes To Date The Single Upwardly Mobile Young Woman? by tpia1: 8:50pm On Jul 31, 2014
Most ladies (and men) who have good jobs, got them via family connections and networking.

This is especially true in nigeria, where you need connections to move ahead.

So, seeing a lady in a position of influence doesn't always necessarily mean she got there from being a runs girl or concubine. Most times, if the lady is under 35, it was via networking.

So, "what it takes" to date them, is an equally impressive family lineage, not just fine face, six pack, disposable cash (compounded by lack of it), or a job.

He can still marry at 50 if he wants to.

He just needs to get his mum a companion or have her live with him if that's workable.

He's even rich- why exactly can't he get a wife?

And if he has problems approaching women, has he considered arranged marriage or asking his mum to help him find someone herself?
