Nairaland General › Re: Seun, What Has Been The Traffic Since The Upgrade Of The Nairaland-be Honest ? by tpia5: 2:18am On Mar 30, 2012
the average number of people online from the home page is about the same with both NL1 and NL2. So the traffic is about the same.
nl is a few thousand members short of a million now.

I project the site will most likely have 1 million members possibly by the end of the year.

I suspect the majority of the 870,000+ user ids are probably bots of some sort and not necessarily real people.

a lot of the ids are also multiple ones from the same user/s.

so, there's a method to getting this "high traffic".

compare nl to other (nationality-based) boards like boards.ie for example, and you'll find even though the site has more topics, sections and boards than nl, it's membership is only about half or a third the size of nl.
Romance › Re: What Should I Do by tpia5: 1:32am On Mar 30, 2012
story no dey tire una? huh

if they say look before you leap, you'll fight them for advising you.

if they say your story no get coordination- from meeting your "girlfriend" with various guys on the bed or wherever, to going ahead to marry inspite of every warning sign saying dont do it- you'll get annoyed.

if they say read the right novels so you can make sense when you type, you'll say the country has bad leaders as if that explains it away? huh

is nl meant for semi-literates and half baked wannabees?

maclatunji: I think OP and those who support her point are on the verge of reverse-racism.
you're entitled to your thoughts just as others are entitled to discuss the state of the black race.

I think if you're unable to leave out your sentiments and emotion when discussing the topic then maybe you should ignore the thread.

you should consider checking out romance and dating sections instead.
Family › Re: Who You Marry Is Important For Your Community by tpia5: 1:06am On Mar 30, 2012
Genetically speaking, it is not impossible for a white person to be more linked to a black man than a black man is linked to another black man
you believe that crap undecided

@ maclatunji

there is no problem oh! No be fight.

I just think the topic is an important one as per the black community and doesnt necessarily have to be derailed by

lefulefu-type issues.[not referring to you btw. Dont get me wrong].

i believe we all agree the black community has issues and wealth creation or generation is one of the tips of the iceberg.

abeg no vex oh!

for me to even post on nl isnt easy these days- your responses just got me interested in the thread that's all.

it's still their car or maybe i dont get your point.

if its one of those fancy or olden days/antique cars which has sentimental value then maybe he could have dibs on that one and say its his car.

but if the car is used to transport your family, then why the my car talk.
Family › Re: Is It Normal For A Wife To Ignore Serving Her Husband Food by tpia5: 5:39pm On Mar 28, 2012
In cases where the husband uses their car to drop the wife at work everyday, whenever there is a quarell the husband should also refused to take her in their car.
their car? huh

^^that's fine- let's simply agree to disagree.

at this point, i doubt there's anything that can be done anyway. Its just that sometimes someone has to point out these things before we all find ourselves trekking to libya.
Islam › Re: Marriage: Hijabi Or Non-hijab by tpia5: 12:27pm On Mar 28, 2012
maclatunji: So, why do you have your gender as male here Tpia? That is misleading now.
I'm not toasting anyone so i dont think what gender i have on my profile, matters.

however, I'll remove it completely if that's a problem.

I initially put it that way because of somebody who was getting on my nerves.
Family › Re: Who You Marry Is Important For Your Community by tpia5: 12:23pm On Mar 28, 2012
Since the black community is 'so caring' about whom I marry
you are again missing the point.

Tpia@, which picture should I be looking at? That of myself or a group of poor 'black people' who might waste my 'wealth' if it ever gets to them
smh.

but its your prerogative to feel that way.

much of africa is dependent on foreign aid in any case.

true, the poor people might waste the wealth so why bother.

I really only wanted to just browse the topic and nl, so let me try to go back to doing that.
Family › Re: Is It Ok For A Man To Announce His Projects? by tpia5: 12:16pm On Mar 28, 2012
it's not advisable but most men do it anyway.

some women too.

some people simply dont see the need to maintain secrecy, that's all.

no big deal unless revealing such info is harmful in some way.

In that case, discretion MUST be used even if its not in your nature to be reserved.

maclatunji: Nene1, you can analyse, whine and complain all you want but at the end of the day marrying someone is a personal decision.
apples and oranges, like i said before.

those who cant see the forest for the trees, will marry for what you term "personal preferences" and nothing more. Others who see a wider picture, dont necessarily have to do the same.

Hence, people will still marry based on their personal choices- no matter how stupid those are.
most black guys (nigerians especially) seem to not understand these issues when they're being discussed. You just veer off tangent and cant think beyond your immediate gratification. Maybe one is expecting too much of you? I've been told I often do that ie expect people to get the big picture instantly.

Hence, your attempt to make most successful black men 'see reason' and marry black women is an exercise in futility.
where or how did you infer this from her posts? huh Seems you're projecting your personal mindset on her.

She is referring to the black community. You are referring to something else.

You can try but it won't work. Nice attempt but as long as white women are willing to marry black men those marriages will always happen.
is she preventing anyone from marrying who they want? huh And it would be nice if you stepped back and reread your statement for a moment, to see how it sounds.

You can make your own personal choice, that is what it will be- personal. Don't worry, your very own successful black man will not pass you by. He will find you from amongst the crowd.
apples and oranges.

so far, I havent inferred anything in her posts that suggests she started the thread based on the reasons above? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Seriously, I barely know the poster and its not that we havent had a clash or two, but i dont know who black guys want to discuss issues relating to black people, if you get antsy and distressed anytime a black woman brings it up. Are you trying to wipe yourselves out of existence, because i can believe that based on yall's attitude and mindsets. Are you thinking of the future at all?

Do you think a white european president will marry a black woman or even non-white and install her as first lady of a European country?
not in this solar system.

maybe in an alternate universe.
Family › Re: Who You Marry Is Important For Your Community by tpia5: 11:24pm On Mar 26, 2012
^^you're looking at the pieces instead of the whole.

she's looking at the general overall picture and i really dont think she shouldnt be free to express her opinion.

her being black doesnt mean she has no say in issues concerning the black community.

and neither does her opinion prevent anyone from marrying or dating whoever they like.

apples and oranges is what i see here.

we cant shy away from discussing issues that are relevant to the black setting just because some feel it relates to them personally. Regardless if it does or not, the issues arent going away anytime soon.

the traditional bangles given to me by my father-in-law and mother-in-law, (plus pics, and several other cultural and traditional evidences)should be able to convince them that i am married to the lady
when i said the iq level has dropped significantly on nl, people thought i was being unnecessarily nasty.

anyway! poster, na your type oyibo dey prefer, so just run along to the embassies with your traditional bangles as proof of marriage. You fit jam luck.

@ mods

france is currently considering/proposing passing a law which would make it a jailable offence to visit terrorist websites.

beaf's constant posting of nazi ideology and imagery on nl, would qualify it as a terrorist website, so it might be in your best interests to delete the pictures.

just a thought.
