Whatever happened to bank of the north which i think was an islamic bank though i'm not sure.

Islamic banking has been introduced to western countries including the US so i think this particular mode of banking is still being observed. I'm not sure the interest-free clause is enough incentive to win over people's wariness about introducing religion into secular matters like banking, but we'll see how it goes.
