nkilirox:yes, God forgave them but that wont keep the pregnancy from showing. Wishing it away doesnt apply either. since the "mistake" has become a live being in the lady's tummy, they should have informed the church elders or whoever handles such matters in their congregation, beforehand. in the olden days, some churches would still discipline them. not that i dont sympathize with the couple o. |
well, y'all know what they say eni lori oni fila, eni ni fila o lori. |
he made her eat all, claiming quarrel will arise if she does not down the hip of meal! With reason that he hates wastage!so she almost wounded herself on his account? ![]() |
make una no dey revive this kind thread abeg. lol i'm almost tempted to put that girl in my profile. |
^^the thread isnt about witch hunting, sweerie. let it go. what you need to be wondering about is if anyone's getting closure or cartharsis. otherwise it's like you're torturing yourself endlessly. that's my opinion. |
If you can get aisha2 or someone with a political/humanitarian bent to do some organizing. I'm willing to support them. let's get something signed, sent to the National assembly and pushed right here on Nairaland. Even if we don't succeed, we can try. This is how people start Social revolutions. The Child right laws we have in Nigeria are just too weak with little political will to enforce them(the enforcers were raised like that too Like oyb, ujujoan and several people asked; How do we enforce discipline without abusing kids like these? We need answers to that question. It is too vital to ignore it. Like I mentioned earlier, I believe it goes to the heart of why our society is the way it is. I don't know if it's a cause of just a symptom; Our reluctance to challenge authority, our "unreasonable" ability to stomach socio-political abuse and still smile, our constant production of heartless, clueless, I-don't-care-what-you-gon-do-about-it leaders just makes you wonder it these harsh methods are the cause. We have work to do, else our kids will come on their generation's Nairaland and say all these all over again. Hopefully we will get our own Freuds and Maslows to give us ideas and our Mary Slessors to push it before then. ![]() If you don't believe Dayokanu's stories, just count yaself lucky. Several kids are still living like that as we type. I remember my own beatings like yesterday. Including keeping your own 'koboko' safe and secured so it doesn't get lost,, because you have to produce it when it's time to get the beatings. If my father ask for it and you can't find it I love some aspects of my culture, But we need to push against some of these cultural nonsense, else we are helping our oppressors keep their weapon of oppression in good shape. Yes, a lot our parents showed us love and some of them will die to provide for their kids even after beating those kids into a pulp. BUT I still believe we can find better ways to raise children while maintaining discipline, some parents did it well in Nigeria and raised disciplined children, but I believe Majority just followed the beat-them-down method because they don't know how else to do it.
lagos already banned child flogging, and quite a few nigerians dont support such a law. and as for wife beating, dont see what can be done about that in nigeria. |
OMG. lord have mercy, because the day judgment starts raining down on Christians, it wont be funny. |
warrior01:as long as there are other options for the couple, then what's the big deal. they can either get married at the registry or another church. if they had no other way of getting married, then that's a different matter. if you dont want people to pass judgement on you, then dont put yourself in a compromising position. i already mentioned traditional customs where the bride gets in big trouble if she's found not to be a virgin on her wedding night. Do you have anything to say about that. in this instance, why did the couple have to wait for the pregnancy to be discovered- they could have owned up to everything beforehand and before setting a wedding date. That way all these issues would have been ironed out in a neater manner. |
warrior01:abeg stop misquoting the bible. Is it Christlike to be carrying a huge tummy at your own wedding like nigerians are wont to do. even in traditional times, emphasis was placed on the girl's virginity. matt 1 vs 19: 18This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. 19Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.they had already completed some basic ceremonies or how else would divorce be applicable here. do you divorce a fiancee? |
bawomolo:if the kids are too many then what's the point? ![]() besides, remembering birthdays involves spending money. Nigeria is a poor country and anyway we mark religious holidays so knock on wood. |
na wa for this thread. whatever happened to good old fashioned book clubs, tea parties [not the political one], buttered crumpets, dunkin doughnuts, etc. olden days and too boring, i guess. https://www.theenglishteaparty.co.uk/images/homeImage1.jpg https://www.restaurantthailand.com/administrator/newimg/englishtea.JPG https://img69.imageshack.us/img69/2650/bookclub.jpg |
SA Goddess:she's very sneaky. i know she's your countrywoman but her vibes are fishy. |
most men immediately become hot cakes as soon as they're off the market. dont know why it's like that, but women suddenly find it impossible to keep their hands and minds off them. you can ask for his password like someone mentioned. And just keep your eyes open and be prayerful. |
For those of u wey de shout say babe must preggers b4 u marry, i say foul. so that tomorrow u go begin disrespect me say i use pregnancy to trap uplease tell them. |
agabaI23:abegi!!!! i'm just messing with all of you. cant make head or tail of whatever the issue is anyway. |
this is so common in most yoruba families where our parents try to poison our mind abt the iboscant relate with that. i had a couple of "wacko" relatives who always went on about my oyo cousins talkless non-yorubas. so anyone who had issues with ibos, must not have had them openly because i'm not aware of anything like that. anyway! maybe i'm a minority or just didnt notice things. Just when I thought it was over I instinctively turned to see if she was coming behind me, and what I saw was a bottle!! YES!! A bottle flying directly at me!! My own mum had opened the fridge and was hauling bottles (Glass Bottles) at me!! I barely ducked just in time to avoid being hit!! She smashed several bottles that day!!wow. you have a lot in common with george bush and should marry a certain type of woman. ![]() |
the time the guy logged on and started listing the reasons why he doesnt dig nigerian ladies and blah blah blah, he didnt know his filipino girlfriend could dump him then. just saying. and are you sure the lady hasnt hooked up with some other nler. anyway! my point is you people shouldnt always be in such a hurry to diss your own women just because you find yourselves able to date foreign ones. doesnt show you in a good light. |
who is dating the rich, single and handsome young men in nigeria? ![]() they seem to be a rare species, because almost all the beautiful celebrities seem to be dating people with k leg. i guess there are no single young millionaires back home. |
yahoo yahoo, Yoruba boys dey maintain that area, quota system |
. |
dayokanu:nope. did the church tell him to fornicate and did they force him to bring money. |
^^wow, what a thread dont mind agaba- the guy na champion flirter. some other wives of his will show face sooner or later- i guarantee it. all these smooth operators. i myself, if no be say i be ogbontira and very cranky, i'd have fallen into his nl trap at some point in time. thank goodness i no get anything for anybody to admire. ![]() btw, why you no mention dobeski in that your harem. I'm surprised. |
@dayokanu na wa o. you suppose be the meekest person on this nl, with all this one you're saying here. why is that not so. |
