LadyT:
My mother was the worse teacher. I remember her teaching me the time I had the hell beaten out of me that day because I kept getting it wrong. After one final knock on the head and pulling of the cheek I concentrated and got it right. As I grew older though I sometimes wished she would just smack me and get it over with. Her lectures are like hell they go on and on and on then you lose concentration and she would ask you to repeat what she said. If you got it wrong the talking or rather screaming would start again. Even after you have been sent to your room as soon as she saw you again the ranting will continue with the addition of bringing up past sins!

I wish our parents spoke about sex more!
em, no correlation between the first and second paragraphs.

just saying before a Hot nler grabs you asap.

What happens is that when Dad goes out, I'll go and watch and when he has driven his bike into the compound, I'll not be able climb the stairs in the compound down. What i'll do is jump from the 1st storey and Gbam!! on the floor.

On this fateful day, i did not do my maths well so did not know he has not strolled into the compound. So without even looking i jumped as usual and this time i jumped right in front of dad. Lol,  I'll never forget that experience. I'll even tell it to my kids.

Laughed for like 20mins but in my mind it was 'i don die today, my own don finish,
you bet wink

landed right in front of your dad ke.

when you were snatching your own husband from his nigerian wife, was it because you were intimidated?

i remeber this one wella. we were for a long time, the only muslims on my street as a kid. one sallah we found that 90% of our neighbours ('born agains') were basically throwing the ram meat we gave away
we always enjoyed the sallah meals our neighbor sent us, when i was a kid.

however, after i was grown, a friend [not from my area] told me she never eats such food because of the superstition attached to it.[fear]

now, this was in a different town so these things might vary from place to place.

Each pix is a poo on the hater

I like to think there is a bucket of sewage coming down on the haters
it looks that way.

but since the bride and groom prefer to keep mum on whatever the issues are, one has no choice but to keep viewing whichever photos they decide to post.

anyway!

the groom did say he's indian, not middle eastern, right?

Overparenting is in my opinion the greatest evil handicapping the Nigerian youth. It is at the root of our national malaise. We have a youth population of tens of millions of who are being “breastfed and diapered” well into their 30s.
Even though the examples I have given above are from parents of considerable affluence, similar patterns can be observed from Abeokuta to Adamawa!
Wake up mum! Wake up dad!
You are practically loving your children to death! No wonder corruption continues to thrive. We have a society of young people who have been brought up to expect something for nothing,  as if it were a birth right.
true talk.

the really scary thing is the lack of a solid moral compass and value system.

this used to be more common with kids who were somehow underprivileged as someone mentioned previously,  but now it's everywhere. And not necessarily limited to a particular age group either.

not good at all.

i dont see any big deal in people asking questions about the wedding.

marriage na beans?

yorubas say opekete ndagba inu adamo nbaje meaning one person's joy is another person's sorrow.

The fact remains that every time a couple gets hitched, there's two or more other people feeling sad at the loss of a would-be partner. And so on and so forth.

so for everyone making progress in life, there will always be people for who that progress is a source of annoyance, and likewise some people's lack of progress is a source of joy and prosperity for others.

that's how the cookie crumbles and it's called life. Mind you i'm not saying all this applies to most of the askers on the thread.

so i'd say many of the questions are in order save for mobo444's own cos the guy prefers black women stay single.
Romance › Re: Why Do Nigerian Man Prefer S. A Women Over Nigerian Women? by tpiah: 6:10pm On Sep 20, 2010
ooops

see these women telling lies on nigerian men:

Hallo u all,

Please don’t abuse me for expressing my mind!

I recently had an affair with a Nigerian man, infact it's only been 5 weeks and 4 days ago that we last made mind-altering love.  It was the best time of my life and I miss it all ooh so very much. Growing up, I’d always heard that West African men were the best in bed. But there were also other stereotypes, especially about Nigerians, many believe them to be big-time insensitive and selfcentred liars and they are seen to value material possession and money over all else…,

It is stressing being in a relationship whereby at the back of one’s head you are anticipating the materialization of these stereotypes, meaning while enjoying the moment you are really worrying about if he really means the “I love you”, the “you are soooo sweet” or the “I want to be with you forever” declarations.   I am a 26 female from the horn of Africa and I’d never had an affair with a Nigerian man before.  I was brought up to value the marriage institution and devote to family. I passionately fell in love with this man and instantaneously felt a strong commitment to be his wife….forever. We had an affair for over 6 months, and we discussed and considered marriage.

6 months later things turned out different. Whereas in the beginning he told me he was separated for many years and was in the middle of a divorce, he later confessed that due to cultural reasons, divorce was really not an easy option. His family and ethnic clan back home were against it etc…I was stunned and felt hurt. He went back to the US and I was left in Europe with a broken heart. Later, I confided in many of female friends. I was shocked at what they had to say/experienced/heard through their girlfriends/read, especially the white women friends. To sum it all up- it seems the average Nigerian man has broken many a (non-Nigerian) female heart before he is taken to his grave.  I think Nigerian men will do anything to have a good time, even at the expense of others, but in the end they would like to end up with a submissive and devout Nigerian wife.

So while there might be some candour in the stereotype that Nigerian men are good in sex (maybe that is the only thing they are good at, lool, am joking here oo!!), there is also some accuracy in the label big-time liar.
I am also not naïve enough to believe in- or make generalisations, but based on all these empirical facts, one is bound to make them.

I just would like to know why the Nigerian man is such an inconsiderate calculative liar….

Are there any non-Nigerian sistahs in da house?
Nigerian sistahs and brothers holler back, but plz dont break me, i am fragile, lool

BS
Dear BS
I am sorry u go through all of this and esp that it broke your hart,

I am Japanese lady and i was married to Nigeria man and after 4 yrs he left me.
I think some African pple are made like that; to benefit from other innocent pple.
u dont need a man to made u habby.
good lucky!

Romance › Re: Why Do Nigerian Man Prefer S. A Women Over Nigerian Women? by tpiah: 5:54pm On Sep 20, 2010
honestly, i almost cried when i read this:

it is sad to say but  a lot of nigerian guys i have meet or talked to who tried to be romantic just dont have it in them,  they start reciting poetry to you and these kind of poetry are not the ones to blow your mind away they are the kind of poems that makes you want to punch them and ask them  to shut up. i actually told a guy off because he was just getting on my nerve,  and the poems that he apparently came up with were lyrics from couple of songs that i recognised,

their favourite happens to be lyrics from boys II men,  and the lines are ridiculous like this guy said oh "that before he met me he was not breathing and then me met and he started breathing"!!!!!!!,  a whole load of crap. i was thinking men i could just kill you right now,  that is sooooooo rediculous and Annoying and i feel embarassed for them because they think that they are really good,

are you guys lacking in imagination or just struggling with English?

sad, sad, sad!!!!!

and another:

Compared to their foriegn counterparts, do you think Nigerian men are romantic enough?

i think this was discussed on nairaland a while back.

the women wear nothing but leaves while the men are fully clothed. And the women use the leaves to curse men or something like that.

but i think these jonathan supporters are jujumen though.

most of the nigerian women can stay years waiting for their suitors to come back from abroad to marry them
shocked shocked

i swear, the minute nigeria decides to grant residency on the basis of marriage to a nigerian citizen, all the yamayama aka arifin go reduce drastically nah!!

na everybody just dey make yanga these days, because their womanliness is the ticket to green card, thanks to their government's laws.

btw, one day i go open thread to research the reasons why nigerian men are so much sought after by other countries' women.

and to find out the reasons why the men of those countries dont seem to be satisfying their women? huh

is nigeria turning to a nudist colony?
