lovistic

i'm not a fan of michelin but i insist this lady is not pretty.

the main person singing her praises here is sjeezy8, for reasons best known to him.

if i were to choose, i'd pick nadia over this juliet any day, if the contest is between biracials.

as for nollywood actresses being rated - majority of them can hold their own when compared with her.

i've praised jackie appiah on this forum in the past [for her face].

this one- eh.

your much acclaimed intellectual capability
huh

nigeria is finished if someone is using those two phrases in one sentence.

i wonder why downright stupidity and area boy mentality now passes for intellectual capability in naija circles? huh

and then they'll start whining about bad governance!

i'd say dump the entire batch of beans or try mixing the uncooked beans with ground pepper in a sealed container.

you can also freeze the whole thing.

why do you need beans from nigeria when you can buy it abroad?

no let customs catch you oh!
Politics › Re: Jonathan To Travel With 200 People To G8 Summit In Canada by tpiah: 6:25pm On Jun 15, 2010
The US President's overseas entourage is 600-strong. His domestic entourage is around half that size. He has 5 cooks and 15 sniffer dog teams. Did you know Obama has a personal valet? His personal aide is Reggie Love. Mr. Love dials Obama’s blackberry for him, provides him with nicorette gum when needed, keeps aspirin on hand, fetches water, makes sure whatever the President needs is at hand and basically runs whatever errands the President tells him to. DIALS HIS BLACKBERRY FOR HIM!

Aside from Reggie Love, who is always at Obama’s beck and call, there is an entrouage of over 500 people accompanying the President on this trip. I know he needs a LOT of advisers, but don’t you think this is a little much. Of course, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, will be accompanying him. Also he’ll have head of the national Economic Council Larry Summers and Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers Christina Romer along.

But that’s not all. He’s taking a team of American doctors (does that mean he doesn’t trust nationalized health care?) who are armed with high tech equipment and plenty of blood of Obama’s blood type. In addition, he’s taking his own chefs to fix him his food. Does he not want to eat what the locals eat? Does he have a food taster as well? Actually he does. The secret service does that as well as testing the air quality (I’m not kidding). He has 200 Secret Service Agents who have already made trial runs for his trip. Then, of course, there’s Michelle Obama’s staff.

The Presidential Limousine will be flown over . It is equipped like none other before it has ever been. Of course it has reinforced steel plating, but it also has night-vision cameras, a tear-gas cannon and oxygen tanks. There will be decoy helicopters going along for the trip.
ok then!

Politics › Re: Nigeria Is Copying The United States by tpiah: 5:56pm On Jun 15, 2010
And how does this show that Nigeria isn't copying the United States? Don't you think it will make better sense if it was the Parliamentary palace that the US copied? I still stand by my last post, plus I don't think the majority of Nigerians are English descendants, I don't know maybe I missed something.
every country copied from somewhere else.

the domes in africa/nigeria itself have been there since time immemorial, or because they're thatched huts does that mean they're no longer domes.

and you dont have to be an english descendant to copy something good from another culture.

btw, like i told auwal before, many other countries have the eagle as their symbol, since eagles and falcons are found all over the world.

i always suspected auwal wasnt hausa as he was claiming. Something's fishy about him

this is threatening to become a very long and drawn out battle. undecided

Deposed Deji sues Police over arraignment

New monarch to undergo psychiatric test, say indigenes

The deposed Deji of Akureland, Prince Oluwadare Adepoju yesterday filed an action at an Akure High Court praying for an order restraining the police from arraigning him in court for criminal offence.

Information from the state police command indicated that the police had planed to arraign him today in the Chief Magistrate Court.

This was coming as the kingmakers continued yesterday to brainstorm on the regent to hold forth before a new traditional ruler is selected as the Deji of Akureland just as some prominent indigenes of the town advocated that psychology and psychiatric tests should be conducted for any prince interested in the stool

The former Oba in the suit filed by his counsel, Mr Sola Oke is asking the court to “prevent the police from bringing him to court to answer charges relating to the criminal aspect of the case that led to his dethronement.

The suit is also praying for a declaration that the government “acted unconstitutionally and thereby breached the fundamental rights of the applicant to personal liberty and human dignity entrenched in sections 34 and 35 of the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

It further prayed for “a declaration that having punished the applicant with dethronement, his proposed arraignment for trial is an after thought calculated to further humiliate, degrade and bring him to opprobrium and disrespect of his dignity contrary to 1999 Africa Charter on Human and Peoples Right.

“An order of perpetual injunction restraining the respondents either by themselves, their servants, agents or privies from further arresting, detaining, intimidating, harassing and/arraigning the applicant before court.”

@ezeagu

from wiki:

The construction of technically advanced large-scale true domes began in the Roman Architectural Revolution,[1] when they were frequently used by the Romans to shape large interior spaces of temples and public buildings, such as the Pantheon. This tradition continued unabated after the adoption of Christianity in the Byzantine (East Roman) religious and secular architecture, culminating in the revolutionary pendentive dome of the 6th century church Hagia Sophia. With the Muslim conquest of the Sassanid Empire and the Byzantine Near East, the dome also became a feature of Muslim architecture
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dome
on st paul's cathedral:

Its impressive dome was inspired by St Peter's Basilica in Rome.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Paul%27s_Cathedral
on the US capitol building:

The dome over the United States Capitol building was built from 1855 to 1866. Although painted white and crowning a masonry building, the dome is actually cast iron, as are the internal support framework and stairs. The design was heavily influenced by the dome of St. Paul's Cathedral in London, among others

thanks to this thread (reminding me of gala), i made some sausage rolls using a googled recipe.

they turned out ok, though i found them a bit heavy on the stomach. Should have used less meat and a lighter crust like the nigerian type.

all you need is sausage of your choice, seasonings and pastry.

outsider weeping louder than the bereaved. Why not face your own issues, or are you now Igbo.

you do have some nerve, pointing fingers at others with Igbo names as if you think you have a point?

and quit jumping in agony at my posts, decrepit old f.ool.

my point remains: if anyone has solid proof the soldiers arent Igbo, then tender it.

^^look, stop getting your panties in a bunch anytime you see a question you cant answer.

my point is simple:

the fact that someone claims to be from the north yet has an Igbo name, doesnt automatically mean they arent Igbo.

kapish?

if you dont get it then vamoose.

^^ so investigate and dont start crying wolf until you actually see a wolf.

must someone be born and raised exclusively in the southeast before they're allowed to claim Igbo, or is the fact that the Igbo (speaking) soldiers say they're from northern states the actual problem.

Politics › Re: Ohanaeze Demands Sack Of Army Chief by tpiah: 2:55pm On Jun 15, 2010
^^your post has nothing to do with my question.

neither do you know if there are some hausas native to Igboland never mind the fact that somebody posted a news article to that effect recently.

just because there are "northerners" with Igbo names doesnt mean they [the so-called northerners] arent actually Igbo. If there's evidence they arent ethnic Igbos then let's see it.
Politics › Re: Nigeria Is Copying The United States by tpiah: 2:49pm On Jun 15, 2010
with the exception of the psquare example and maybe the state creation, all others are purely circumstantial.

domes are commonly used anywhere.

the seals of other countries should be used for comparison [s]since america also got her own seal idea from somewhere.[/s]

in short, not a big deal.
Politics › Re: Ohanaeze Demands Sack Of Army Chief by tpiah: 1:55pm On Jun 15, 2010
At first, they started by recruiting the Northern soldiers through the Eastern states quota by using Igbo names on the Northern recruits as if they are Igbo candidates, thereby short changing the Igbo numerical strengthen in the Nigerian Army.
For an eample, presently a Northern soldier is answering Onyebuchi Titus and he is serving Ijebu-Ode Barrack, Ogun state and another soldier is also bearing the name Christopher Obinna and he is serving at Onitsha; you can investigate this sir”.
any evidence to prove these soldiers arent in fact from the north?

i thought people were complaining about nigerians not being allowed to claim their states of birth rather than state of their parents' origin.

now you have northerners with Igbo names, does that automatically mean they're not ethnically Igbo? huh
